I heard about this place on my visit from a few locals. I wasn't sure what to expect, but based on my previous experience with Kabob in Europe, I knew that I had a hunger and the only thing that cold satisfy it was a Kabob. The owner has Afghan roots and serves up the most amazing authentic food. If you plan on ordering keep in mind this man makes everything fresh on spot (this isn't your typical fast food place) and it takes about 20 minutes from the time you order. The man who works here is super funny but just as a disclaimer, he has no filter and will say anything and everything. I went to this place based on the recommendations from base personnel as well as the reviews on this site. I must say I was very, very pleased. I was not sure where they were located, but once I hit the counter at Fort Dix Street, I saw the BIG red letters and knew exactly where to go. I went in and was pleasantly greeted by the counter guy (I think he was one of the owners) who explained the menu and helped me select my meal. This guy was so so nice, I mean he helped me and then he explained about afghan culture. The other reviews are correct, it does take time for the food to come once you place your order, but it is well worth the wait. I ordered the chicken kabob, and it came with rice, salad and bread. Then to make my visit better, I was given a free bowl of chickpeas. The owner explained how to eat the chickpeas and since I never had chickpeas before, I was a little hesitant. But the once I did what he told me to do, I can say that I now like chickpeas - LoL. I also tried the cilantro sauce and it was so good especially over the rice. The customer service here is so great - they will do what they need to do to make sure you enjoy your food and have a pleasant experience. Just great authentic Afghan cuisine. I went in here on a last minute whim and I'm glad I did. All the food is cooked fresh per order. The vegetables and salad that accompany the platters are fresh. The owner is such a hospitable persons. I later found out that he is a Marine Vet which is another cause I can support. I have been coming here now as often as I can when I visit my girlfriend on base. I highly recommend this place. The food is authentic and delicious. read more

I'm a cheapskate. This was an incredible amount of food for the price. And it was amazing. Honestly great from the first bite to the last...I didn't want to stop eating it was that good. My youngest daughter is a picky eater. She got the chicken kabob and devoured what she could, the serving sizes are very large. Don't come hungry because it does take some time for the cook to whip up his magnificent plates, but you can call ahead. In the area for two weeks- ate here twice in a row. It's not fancy, but the food is so dang good. Owners are friendly and pleasant. I had chicken the first night, lamb the second. Both were moist, tender, and tasty. I prefer the chicken more, but that's a personal preference. Naan bread is fresh and tasty. Best Afghan food I've had. This is not fast food, it's delicious, fresh, heavenly tasted home cooking. Kind family staffed. The portions were very generous, easily feeds two. The menu is not huge, but what is made is done right. I was impressed, I've paid three times over for for less satisfying culinary experiences. I had the lamb and chicken plate with a side of chick peas. The flavors are comforting but also complex. You know someone put time and love into the meat, rice, na'an, chick peas.... On the last day of our Jersey trip my brother brought us to this Kabob place and let me tell you --I was pissed! Pissed off because he didn't bring us here the first day we got here. I could've eaten this a-freaking-mazing Kabob everyday until it's time to fly back to Vegas. So sad. Anyway. The food here is really good, the lamb kabob especially and I don't even like lamb. They made it so juicy, tender and flavorful that I had a change of heart. Also they make everything as you order so you can always be sure that you're food is freshly made. Not those microwavable crap that other restaurants like to serve. Service is great too -- the owner and staff are very friendly and attentive. I would come back here in Jersey just to eat here again. This place is tucked away right outside the gate of Joint Base MDL, NJ. I tried Afghan Kabob for lunch one day and I was totally impressed. I've ate Afghan food while deployed to Afghanistan but this place is legitimately some of the best. I tried the kabob platter which was a so flavorful and fresh. This place is a hidden gem! The food takes a bit to come out but SO worth it! The owner is very very friendly and welcoming. The place is in a plaza/strip mall and is very unassuming.. most of his business comes from the base up the road but if others would just find out, I can only imagine what would happen with their business!
