I've had so many bad contractors that I hesitate to hire someone to do something I can do for myself. I found Morningstar Landscaping on Yelp and once again, a terrible job that I'll have to pay to fix. Read the negative reviews (I didn't beforehand) and see how Jodi Phillips responds to a problem or criticism. That's what I got from her when I asked for her to fix problems after she'd been paid for the job. Anyway, Marc was the extreme opposite and restored my faith for the moment that there are contractors who excel at what they do. From the bid appointment to the finished job, Marc was customer oriented and I felt he did the work like it was his own house. Contractors have left trash before, but Marc vacuumed the house and even the loose insulation that ended up in the yard. Wow! Yowsah! He told me his three business principles as he was leaving: Act in the customer's best interest; exceed their expectations; and, leave the site cleaner than it was when he arrived. After unsuccessfully trying to contact several companies - I called Affordable Insulation. the first step in making this a good experience - Marc answered the phone!! He gave me a price quote over the phone, we made an appointment and Marc and his crew showed up when they said they would. He kept me informed during the process (it didn't take long) - they cleaned up after themselves and left. Price charged was actually a few dollars cheaper than the quote. That evening - our stupid tankless waterheater stopped working because it said the vent was blocked. Plumber said to contact the insulation guy. Soon as they finished with another job - Marc and his crew came over - rearranged part of the inside vent, vacuumed, revacuumed and revacuumed the vent - he got on the roof - sealed the vent to the hot water heater - but the same error code remained on the water heater. Marc volunteered to pay for the plumber, pay for a hotel for the night - since we would be a day or two without hot water. we had a Maintenance agreement with the plumber - they came out, made a minor adjustment on the water heater. Marc was conscientious enough to call the next day to ask what he owed us (turned out to be nothing) and to make sure we were ok. Bottom line - problems happen - but he went above and beyond to correct a problem that probably wasn't even his fault - the kind of company and personnel that you can trust and feel comfortable referring to your friends. read more

We needed to have insulation blown into our north-facing wall after a pipe burst in the upstairs bathroom. Marcus came out to give us an estimate, and one of the reasons we decided to go with Affordable Insulation is because he seemed very honest and trustworthy. He also inspected our existing insulation, and he showed us that there was only the original insulation from 1979 in the downstairs ceiling, and the insulation upstairs was very low. We decided to have insulation blown into all three places. Jason and Jason came out to do the job, and both of them were extremely professional. They let us know what they would be doing, and the entire process took less than two hours. They also installed batt insulation behind the pipe in the upstairs bathroom to help insulate it even more. When they were done, they cleaned up the loose insulation and let us know of some potential issues they saw in the attic while insulating. Spoke with Marc on the phone and told him I was in a time crunch to get insulation in our exterior wall in our remodeled laundry room. The room was not insulated because it was part of the garage before me and closed it. How do I give someone 6 stars? Or 7? Even 10? Cause this team deserves it! Just moved to the area and needed to update my attic space with some insulation. My dad (a former contractor) lives out of state and was setting up a lot of the work to be done at my house - the team was so kind to work with me and him simultaneously. The first visit someone came out to check out the attic and let me know what work needed to be done and also educated me on life in Texas (I'm from Nevada - complete 180 from here). The first two attempts to have them come out for the actual work were a flop (by no fault of theirs!) and they were so patient. Third time's the charm - they finally made it out, and within two hours had my attic space fully insulated. I'm selling my house and needed a touch up. I had (compressed) 12" of white blown in fiberglass. I made two phone calls. One was to Payless Insulation. Payless was quoting me 0.90 cents per sq ft. I explained that I had 12" and just needed a touch up. Payless said they would sell me their R-19 package to go over my existing for .75 cents a sq ft. 2100 sq ft X .75 = $1575. It felt like a high pressure sell. No thank you! Second phone call was to Affordable Insulation. Marc answered the phone and was very professional. He listened to my situation (which should be common) and mentioned his base price for touch up. Made an appointment to quote. Excellent communication. He was able to show up early which saved me time waiting around. He showed up with his truck, reviewed the attic and committed to his base price. There is no substitute for experience. Affordable Insulation operates as a company with extensive experience. Professional, knowledgeable, on time and fast moving, clean, personable team. They're an 11 out of 10 because you get the experience without paying triple for it. In fact, the cost was competitive. Be a good customer and have your home and attic accesses ready for their arrival if possible, ask the questions upfront during the estimate phase. If jobs can be done efficiently it helps with overhead which helps keeps bids competitive, and I believe that results from both contractor and customer effort. Jason moved through our attic and added about 12" of insulation to the space quicker than I could walk across and back up there, without sacrificing quality.
