They were unwilling to extend the estimate through that process and also would not coordinate a reasonable anticipated start date. That leaves the customer investing time and money into plans without knowing what the project will ultimately cost or when construction can actually begin. I was prepared to move forward, but it's difficult to responsibly commit to a significant construction project without reasonable certainty on pricing or scheduling. Unfortunately, their lack of flexibility and coordination made me decide not to proceed.

David, Louis, and Brady turned my ideas into reality with minim conflict and maximum results. Their bid was reasonable and we only had a few change orders. They remodeled my 1947 investment house that had a lot of termite damage and needed a complete rebuild and expansion to add another bathroom and make the living room and bedrooms larger. There was room for an ADU off the alley so HTA Construction also built an 864 square foot ADU for me. I am very pleased with the results of both the house expansion and remodeling as well as the ADU. Working with them was pretty easy. David listened to what I wanted, wrote up the proposal with a competitive price, and got started right away. Brady joined the team a little later and became a huge asset to the HTA Construction team by listening to my needs and following through to make sure they were taken care of. Brady helped me think through my fence design, landscaping, building a unique rolling pantry, and troubleshooting the minor issues that come up during construction. Brady provided excellent customer service in an industry that is better known for in-your-face confrontations than work-it-out communication. I would highly recommend HTA Construction and ADU Builders for your next construction project.

We had a great experience working with SRT Building on the renovation of our new home, which…read moreincluded a full kitchen remodel and 2.5 bathrooms. From start to finish, Mario, the owner, Carlos, our project lead, and the entire crew were professional, organized, communicative, and a pleasure to work with. Communication was extremely important to us. We received photo updates nearly every day, so we always knew exactly how the project was progressing. Whenever there were decisions that came down to personal preference, such as the height of a shower head, the angle and layout of the tile, the length of the shower doors, and other details, the team made sure to ask us. They clearly explained the pros and cons of the different options and gave us the information we needed to make a decision without ever making the process feel overwhelming. Just as important was being able to trust SRT's expertise and project organization. We had a lot going on with work during the renovation, so we needed a team that we could rely on without feeling like we had to frequently check on the project or be on site. Mario, Carlos, and the entire team made the process incredibly stress free. We were easily able to trust them to get everything done properly, on schedule, and to a very high standard of quality. We never felt like we needed to come to the house to check on the work. We only came when the team specifically needed us there or when we were simply excited to see the progress! The project stayed on track throughout the entire renovation, and they actually finished almost a week ahead of the projected completion date. The house was also kept neat and tidy at the end of each workday, which we really appreciated. Their attention to detail was also exceptional, especially with the tile work throughout the kitchen and bathrooms. The precision and craftsmanship makes it clear that the team takes a lot of pride in delivering high quality work. Overall, working with SRT was a collaborative, efficient, high quality, and genuinely stress free experience. We couldn't be happier with the finished result and will absolutely be working with SRT again when we're ready to renovate our backyard. We highly recommend Mario, Carlos, and the entire SRT team!

We recently completed a nearly whole-house renovation, interior and exterior, with SRT Building and…read moreRenovation, and we are very happy with our experience and their quality of work. To start with, one of the things we appreciated most -- and a major reason we decided to hire SRT -- was Mario's (the owner) level of communication. From our initial meeting, it was clear that he was earnest about the quality of work his company delivers and confident that they could complete the project within a reasonable timeframe. Mario never came across as a salesman; instead, he was straightforward, knowledgeable, and sincere. Throughout the entire renovation, his communication was clear, consistent, and honest. He was always available and easy to reach, willing to answer any questions and talk through the details to make sure we were always on the same page. He even arranged for us to visit a home he had recently renovated so we could see the quality of his work firsthand, before making our decision to go with him. SRT is the third contractor we've worked with over the past eight years on our home, and we can say they are the best by far. They take pride in their work, and it's clear they care about maintaining the strong reputation they've built. Carlos, the project lead, and his crew were respectful and meticulous in everything they did. It's clear they also take pride in doing things the right way rather than taking shortcuts. They were on-site every single working day (even our neighbors were impressed!), stayed on schedule, and always delivered quality work. It's also worth mentioning that during construction, a few unforeseen issues came up that required shifting some of our "nice to have" items, which ultimately didn't make it into our original scope of work, and now had to go into the "must do" category. Although it wasn't ideal to increase our already tight budget, having SRT handle the additional work was a no-brainer, because we knew it would be done correctly and that it would protect the investment we were making in the renovation. In the end, we ended up with a beautiful home that we are truly proud of and love coming home to, thanks to the SRT team. If you're looking for a contractor who communicates well, shows up, stays on schedule, and takes genuine pride in delivering top-quality work, SRT is the team you want on your project. We'd hire them again without hesitation.

He explained everything and made sure I really liked the ideas he had for me. Everyone else made me feel like it was an upsell, but with Miguel, he assured me that it wouldn't cost much for the small upgrades, and it would make my kitchen look much nicer. He was absolutely right, and I couldn't be happier with my beautiful new kitchen. The project took a little over 2 weeks to do, and that was only because of the pouring rain. Miguels crew worked very hard to get my kitchen done ASAP. I originally had marble counters, but I now have quartz which I love. Miguel sent me to a great place that had so many different options to choose from. I put new backsplash and beautiful new white shaker cabinets with lighting underneath. Miguel put on all of my handles to the cabinets himself the last night, making sure they were on just right and where I wanted them. He and his son didn't finish until 10 pm on a Friday night, just so I could have everything completely done like he promised me. Not only was pricing fair but the hard work and great guys that work for Miguel made the entire experience that much better. Everyone was nice, professional and worked very hard. Hopefully the next project with Miguel will be my bathroom.

How can you love a contractor? Well, we did! And we love you guys--Tom, Adam, and the whole team at…read moreShenon Construction! Let us explain why. Tom is the owner of Shenon Construction, and as first time homeowners with a master bedroom addition being our first construction project, we approached Tom both cautiously and slowly. We first talked 8 years ago and Tom was so incredibly patient, answering all our questions and going round after round with meetings. He led us through HVAC and window considerations before we even committed to the project. He subsequently drafted a thoughtful and detailed plan, connecting us with his designer to get things started. Enter COVID and our infamously slow city planning department. It took almost five years just to get our permit approval. Tom kept advising us throughout and his recommended designer diligently re-submitted plan after plan. Tom never showed an ounce of impatience and after five years, a project needs to be re-bid. Impressively, Tom encouraged us to price compare contractors once again. We knew Tom so well at this point and he still carefully re-walked us through every step of the process and cost. Once again, no one came close to Tom and Shenon in their ability to earn our trust. When we finally kicked things off at the end of July, we were introduced to our project manager, Adam. Hands down the most detail-oriented, organized, and responsible person we've ever met, Adam was at our house almost every day. Memorably, he echoed Tom in saying every tiny detail or concern goes through them. From then on, we saw every worker arrive on time doing incredible work. We discussed endlessly the closet sizes, number of light fixtures, which windows pass code, who does lead remediation, replacing the basement access, where to fit a sun tunnel, what height to make our deck, yes or no to gutters, color choice after color choice, and on and on. Adam smiled throughout, had answers to every question, and always replied with a 'just let me know'! Everything was built to meet Tom and Adam's high standards. We received to-do lists weekly, a spread out payment schedule, and met with scores of expert sub-contractors. Tom and Adam did all this while juggling around our living in the home, limiting dust and noise, and being ever mindful of our cat. Adam went above-and-beyond here, as well, responding to our group text chats anytime day or night and was excellent handling our day-to-day needs while sending the big project questions to Tom. We ultimately became friendly with these guys and can't imagine any homeowner not feeling the same. It was amazing to see our room go from foundation to framing to finishing--everything happened so quickly! In fact, the whole project took about five months, wrapping up with the final inspection an entire month ahead of schedule. We now have a wood-floor master bedroom with a large picture window, an subway-tiled master bathroom with wet room shower/bath combo, a much needed walk-in-closet, and a lovely wood deck patio with a pergola. We absolutely love our new space, and we couldn't be more thankful to Shenon. We've heard from friends and neighbors about construction nightmares, littered with no shows, hard to reach GCs, shoddy workmanship, and unfulfilled follow-ups. Shenon construction is the complete opposite. Tom keeps every promise and provides options for aesthetics and saving money, but never compromises on quality. Adam's care and hard work makes the project smooth and keeps the excitement of building fun and alive. They're just awesome, and we can't recommend them enough. Shenon Construction earns all of their positive reviews and we're so happy we chose them. We only hope we can work with them again!
