I've been a patient of Affinity Eye Care for several years and went in yesterday for an exam and lenses. Everything went smoothly, from beginning to end. I had a minimal wait in the comfortable waiting area (I'd arrived a bit early) . The front office staff welcomed me with a smile, processed my info quickly and answered all my questions. Dr. Murphy and his techs were amazing, as always. They made me feel comfortable; conducted the various tests expertly and efficiently and explained everything along the way. When the exam was completed, I was escorted to the Opticians' area, where everything, again, went smoothly, including the paperwork. All in all, a very pleasant experience. Dr. Rita Bhakta is the WORST pediatric eye doctor I have encountered out of my 32 years of wearing eyeglasses. I took my 22 month old son here because he was going crosseyed. She didn't even introduce herself or try to build a rapport with my son. This doctor was asking him things like to cover one eye. He's not even two. My son didn't like the dilation so he was acting like a brat... I'll be the first to say! She stated she couldn't complete his exam because he wouldn't look where she needed him to look and was being uncooperative. He's a freaking toddler! Then proceeded to tell me his could have no vision in his left eye worst case and she would need to referee us out. I don't think she liked the fact he was having a melt down so she wrote us off! Her idea of a referral was writing a name on a post it. No notes... nothing! Then tells me there will be no charge. I do not think she's ever dealt with a patient his age! Do not take your babies here. The office was not toddler friendly. There was crap everywhere. Tons if open doors. This visit was a complete nightmare with the exception of the assistant! My husband and I had our eyes checked here and tried contacts. Also purchased some perscription dark glasses on this same visit. Customer service from Christina was amazing!!! She went way above and beyond by shipping us the perscription glasses via my fed-ex account and they dont use fed-ex so Christina was kind enough to take them to a fed-ex drop on her way to work. (this is only our second time in too) All the staff and Doctors are very efficiant and easy going. All the doctors are very professional here and were very thorough. I've been coming here 3 years now and never hesitate to go back. All the staff here is very friendly and helpful. I love coming here for my glasses because they have a lot of unique, designer options. I also get my contacts here because they are priced fairly. Definitely a family friendly office. Dr. Mulgrew does a very thorough exam and takes the time to explain anything that he finds and the ramifications. Although they sell glasses, he does not push you to buy any if the change in your prescription is minimal. I have been going to them for years and will continue to do so. read more

My first encounter with Affinity Eye at this location was fantastic. From the initial phone call to schedule my appointment through the scheduled fitting date for my new contacts. Since that last appointment though, Ive been pretty disappointed and a bit confused to say the least. Because I have an eye disease, having the new contacts in a timely manner is imperative which is why I opted to do the paid expedited service to be certain id have them asap.Well I get the call the contacts are in, but I cant get them until I do another appointment which is over a week away! Please explain why you would have me pay to have them expedited knowing once they arrived I would have to schedule another appointment before I can receive them. So now I have been trying to contact the doctor who clearly understands the need to have them immediately in hopes she can get me in sooner, but what do you know, shes not called me back as of yet, and I don't really know if she will at this point. I am very frustrated at this point, and although overall the service was great I just wish they would have been more informative at my initial visit so I could have been prepared for such a great delay as this. Future advice, give your patience all of the fine details so they are aware ahead of time and not surprised with such delays. read more

I've been with these folks since before they opened this office but I'm done. Very expensive and always that nice extra charge that comes in the mail. I ask them what exactly the charges will be and they never know for some reason. The last straw was after I told my wife they would treat her well, she went in for an eye exam and new lenses for her existing frames. They charged her $800.00, unbelievable. Lose my info please.... We moved here over a year ago, and since then I had an eye exam at another office/business that was very crowded, somewhat chaotic, and I felt very rushed when I saw the doctor. They don't check prescriptions there, so I researched for a place close to our home that accepted our insurance, and found Affinity. I have been there several times now, once for my appointment, once for my husband's, and once for dropping off an item for an employee. The energy has always been very calm, and my husband and I both raved about Heather Thompson, who saw us both. She is very friendly and relaxed, takes the time to listen, and doesn't have an arrogant attitude about having to be called "Doctor", which is always a plus in my book. Another plus is that she didn't roll her eyes or run screaming from the room when I talked about using primarily natural/alternative medicine. I wish I had an excuse to see her more often, I wish she were my doctor for some of my chronic health issues! read more

This people are running a terrible business. After having had catarct and glaucoma surgery, my eye doctor does not fit glasses. They recommended I go next door and get glasses. I did. went to Affinity and they tried to get me an entire eye exam, which I declined as I just was seen by an ophthalmologist I certainly did not need an optometrist exam. So I paid just to be fitted with eye glasses. IN the mail came a bill for over $200 for a complete eye exam which I NEVER GOT. I told them that they are sending a false bill and will not pay and further remove me from their patient list. Fast forward a 14 mos. later. I get a phone call reminding me of an appointment I never made, and today I get a call from a collection agency for a bill that was false. I called today the office. The receptionist said the billing person will call me. NEVER DID! A terrible outfit, just trying to make money even for services not rendered. STAY AWAY! SHAME ON THEM! read more

I saw Dr. Murphy for a routine eye exam. I left the office over corrected in one eye and under corrected in the other. I attempted to have the office fix the problem, but to no avail. I have been seeing Dr Mulgrew since he was at Lens Crafters (over 10 years). He and his entire staff are professional and efficient but most importantly, honest. I get a thorough exam. He does not rush through to keep his schedule but is responsive to my conditions and care. The optical department is great. My glasses fit, are adjusted correctly, are highest quality at a fair price. I could go to discount optical places but my eyesight is NOT the place I want to focus on budget over quality. read more

My husband has multiple eye problems: glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts and was recently diagnosed with a macular pucker. He noticed his distance vision was blurry this past month but hated to see an optometrist because he had two disappointing experiences years ago with the scripts given. Having seen Dr. Laura Gudenkauf myself in January on the recommendation of a friend, I made an appointment for my husband. Dr. Laura was so patient as she worked to get the best script for my husband. And he was so impressed with her knowledge of all his eye problems. She also noticed that he had blepharitis and suggested using baby shampoo to reduce the redness around the lids. She also gave him a sample of an "oily" eye lubricant to help keep his eyes more moist at night. He is so pleased with his new script and the extra care Dr. Laura gave him.
