I ordered glasses from the Costco on Grant June 4. To order the glasses, I did the online sign-up and waited 40 minutes for service. My glasses came quickly, and I went in this morning to pick them up. Again, I signed in via their online system and waited - and waited - and waited. I waited a total of an hour and twenty minutes. While waiting for an hour and twenty minutes, it appeared that people who were ordering glasses were taken more quickly than those of us picking up. It made business sense, since they were spending money and those of us picking up had already paid. When I was finally called to pick up my glasses, they were not correct and had to be sent back. The re-fitting took an addition thirty minutes. So, I essentially waited all that time for nothing. Not only is this kind of wait inconsiderate of customers, it is unhealthy for older adults who may have debiitating conditions that are exacerbated by lengthy waits. read more

This is a review for the Independent Optician at the Tucson Marketplace location, not the lovely Costco employees. I tried to schedule an appointment yesterday and they wanted me to come right in, which I couldn't do because I was still at work. They scheduled me for 25 hours later. I told them that I didn't have my husband's vision plan info on me, and she said that if I didn't have it before my appointment I would have to self-pay. No big deal. When we spoke this morning she said that she couldn't take the insurance information after she made the appointment so I would still have to self-pay. This was six hours before the appointment. I asked if she could cancel the appointment and re-enter it since I had that information. I was told that I would have to pay a $25 cancellation fee. This made no sense to me, and it seemed pretty silly--so I told her she could just go ahead and cancel the appointment. I don't know whether or not she was going to still charge me the $25 late fee, but something about the way she started talking faster and louder told me that having a pleasant experience just wouldn't be possible. While I don't think I should be charged, if they do--they do. I would just like a simple, no drama, decent and professional experience. She then called me back to finish making her case for how I was unreasonable. I told her I was not prepared to have that conversation right then and she actually laughed at me. SHE called ME to berate me and laugh at me, all the while talking over me (the customer) and claiming she hadn't said yesterday that if I gave her the insurance information before the appointment it would be fine. Our family has been purchasing glasses and getting eye exams at Costco for DECADES, and we have never before had, or been, a problem. I really don't understand what set her off. I have very little faith that an office like that would treat patients kindly or with dignity. I love my Costco Optical folks, but I just can't imagine going to that Independent Optician. I work in customer service, dealing with sensitive problems all day long, and I am amazed that someone with such poor interpersonal skills would be hired in a front-facing position. She did everything absolutely wrong, and rudely. I would recommend getting your eye exam elsewhere, and then going back to Costco for the actual frame and glasses. I haven't been disappointed by that side of the business in the 20+ years we have used them. read more

This was my first experience buying prescription glasses at Costco and it was impressive!! I'm grateful that Rick helped me. Rick was knowledgeable and took time with me. He answered all my questions and then walked me through the billing details again. I left feeling completely satisfied! As a side note when I arrived I took #67 and was a bit worried that my wait time would be very long as they were serving #58. Well I'm happy to say that within about 10-15, my number was called. I used this time to check out the frames to make sure I selected the perfect frame for me. The best part?? The cost for my glasses was about half the price that my eye doctor charges. read more

Prices are great! Selection is quite good. The workers are very friendly but to a detriment. Often 2-3 are just standing talking to each other and with the wait times it is unjustified. I appreciate that they also want to be friendly to the customer but after waiting for an hour I just want service and to leave. I don't need to hear about your cousins or anything else. I understand you can shop while you wait but I usually don't need to spend that much time shopping. Jonathon can spend 5 minutes washing glasses, rearranging towels on the back of a chair or almost anything to avoid helping a customer. This is not the first time. It's very frustrating when the wait is so much longer than it needs to be. read more

I've been going here my entire life for both contacts and prescription glasses. I always recognize the staff and they are friendly and provide excellent customer service. My only complaint is when they have high wait times depending when you go (but you might as well shop around while waiting). The frame selection is fantastic. I've purchased Ray Bans, Givenchy, Tom Fords, Fendi, and Valentino here. My contacts are better priced at Costco as well. If you ever just need your glasses adjusted or cleaned, swing by. I had a severe change in my eyesight after having COVID in May-June 2023 that required a prism be added to both lenses of my prescription, as I was seeing double. An online eyeglass provider was unable to fill the prescription as the prism prescribed was beyond their capability. I had never ordered lenses/frames from COSTCO, but was pleasantly surprised: two members of their staff helped me select a frame appropriate for the prism (which causes the lenses to be much wider at the edges) and my face shape and coloring. Once my glasses arrived, they adjusted them for me and put on different nose pads that keep them from siding down my nose. I have received several compliments on my new glasses from complete strangers (which has never happened before). I ordered two pairs (clear lenses and sunglasses). The biggest surprise was the cost, as both pairs (even with the added cost of the prism and the $60 membership cost) was about 35% less than what I paid at a local eyewear purveyor six months earlier!!! Highly recommend!!! read more

This would get a 5 star if it weren't for the receptionist in the doc office, they are all really rude. Their customer service is trash and they act as if they are bothered all the time. They need to realize that they have a job because of their patients. The Doctors are both great and the people working out in the the optical dept. are always so nice but I'm not sure I'll go back for my eye exam next year. read more

Oh my, what can I say, amazing! Can I just say I will never buy eyeglasses anywhere else, ever again! They were all amazing! I went in there to get regular stuff from Costco, and ended up in the optical department. I didn't have my prescription with me. But what did they do, they called the eye doctor and had it faxed over! And the prices are amazing. I got two pairs of glasses, bifocals, blue light, brand name, glare resistant, and scratch guard, and I only spent $260. When I used to go to other places, I would spend that much on one pair with none of the extras! And everyone working there, was super friendly! A++++ read more

Terrible customer service from Mike in optical. Rude, condescending behavior from someone whose job description is basically to help the customer find the right frames. They have a decent selection with good prices, but it's not worth the chance of being "helped" by Mike again. My family will never buy frames here again. Costco needs to look into Mike's sarcastic and aggressive way of speaking to customers and give him a refresher course in basic customer service. read more

I was the lone person in my family to not wear glasses. When I found out I needed glasses I knew I was going to Costco optical. My wife and daughters had always gone here for glasses and contacts... now I know why. Not only do they have unbeatable prices , but they have some of the friendliest customer service/technicians I have ever encountered. Costco is known for selling lots of products in bulk. You can even get eyeglasses in bulk - your second pair is only $25 . I'm not sure if that's just a special they are running but I didn't take advantage of that. Maybe my vision is getting worse but my hindsight sure is 20/20. read more

I love Costco optical for two main reasons: 1.) Extremely friendly customer service from great people with great personalities...they're always happy to help! You know they like their jobs because I've seen the same faces there for years. 2.) An awesome selection of unique frames, many of which are designer, for prices that don't break the bank (most are sub $100). Lots of current styles packed into one wall and a few glass cases--I get compliments all the time on the Furla frames I picked out of the case! Now, if you're familiar with Costco, then you're familiar with crowds. You'll have to take a number for counter service (adjustments, pick ups etc.) and the wait is anywhere from a couple minutes to a half hour, depending on time of day. But(!) I've ordered glasses from them before and had them arrive several days before the expected date--all right! They have a one year warranty on lenses, which come standard with anti-reflective and scratch proof coating. The reason I detract a star is because I've also bought single vision Crizal lenses at other optometrists and I feel the coating on the Costco lenses is a little less durable than the coating on my lenses that cost 2-3x more, and had a longer warranty period. If you wear your glasses all the time and don't change styles/prescription often, then you may want consider more expensive lenses. Also, for the extremely blind coke-bottlers like myself, I could swear there's one more level of high index lens that Costco doesn't carry and my other optometry place does...don't quote me on this but definitely look into it if you have a high prescription. Long and short of it: budget friendly with miles of style! Not as cheap as those "$99" places, but out the door at $125 after insurance was AWESOME (roughly 1/3 what I paid at the dedicated optometry office on the same vision plan). If you can figure out the insurance ins-and-outs and are very specific about your lenses, one avenue is to pick out frames here and fill the lenses elsewhere...otherwise the lenses you get here are still quite respectable. So far this place is a winner. Costco always beats most prices on most of their goods. Hubby needed new specs to give him a new look. My view anyhow. He did need a tad of a uptick for distance and also for reading. Went there a week ago. Saw Dr. Nanni and Hubby was pleased. Glasses came in even before they were scheduled and Hubby said everything was AOK. Prices are good. The folks up front are polite and they have their own kind of system with taking numbers. Like you are in a deli department like the old days. At any rate, we are both satisfied and would recommend anyone to Costco Optical. read more

Rick is the most patient, fun, and exceptionally knowledgeable person on staff for fitting someone with issues, like one eye bulging out further than other due to medical problem. He always makes sure they sit correctly on me, though it usually takes a few visits to do. I'm sure other staff are fine if you don't have special issues, but not if you do! I have bought my glasses there yearly for several years and have always been pleased with the selection of frames and lens. I go to an ophthalmologist for exams so can't comment on their eye exams at Costco. That is why i only gave it 4 out of 5 stars. read more

Got both pairs of glasses and they're just what I ordered. One pair is single lens with transitions (sunglasses outside) that I'm using for driving. The other pair is a progressive bifocal which I use for everything else. I received both pairs in just over a week. The technicians at Costco fitted them and I've been very happy with them. read more

Asian old lady at the optical dept. in Grant, is rude. I called one time just to check my order, I got hung up, I called back again the asian old lady looking like a creep answered, she started talking fast and saying about my order that is not ready yet, I havent got the chance to introduce myself and she just hung up on me, I guess she knew I was gonna call back, but my opinion I think that was unprofessional I was I happy that I got a good deal from them but not anymore, will never go back next time and definitely will not recommend to anybody. poor service, but good deals, ooh and my glasses, the lens was terrible, I was told by Kim that their glasses already has anti glare, and anti scratch, UV etc. paid extra 40bucks, paid 260bucks for everything, (my frame is 169.99, lens 99.99) but when I finally got my glasses and start wearing it. it keeps showing up some stains on my lenses for some reason that I keep wiping it, its very distracting, dunno if its the UV, and around the edge of my lenses its not anti glare, coz I could see the reflections. Unfortunately after the poor service Im hesistant to go back, but I paid a lot from that glasses so I will do my best to go back and praying that they will help with my issues. I have used Costco now for about 5 sets of glasses. Usually I get just the lenses, since I don't like their frames even though they are very nicely priced. I haven't had any problems with the coatings or the quality of the progressive design, though the mid-range channel it is not as wide as some other progressive designs, I think. Of course, you'd pay close to twice as much for the better ones. My experience at the Grant location has been very positive. Others have mentioned that Rick seems to be extremely well qualified and competent and I must fully agree. He takes great care in all aspects of the fitting and adjustment process and in understanding and explaining the optical issues. There are others that are good too, but if you have problems, it would behoove you to ask for Rick to take a look. read more

I bought my glasses at another Costco in town. I had UV and anti-scratch coatings put on. Now they're peeling, but because I bought them more than 3 months ago, there's no warranty. Everywhere else I've bought glasses guarantee coatings for years if not life. So my glasses are worthless with a big blurry patch right in the middle. No more Costco glasses for me. read more

My insurance pays 100% for an eye exam yearly. Over a year ago my wife got an exam and 2 pairs of glasses. They said they would bill my Blue Shield insurance. Over a year later I get a call saying I have to pay $80 because my insurance rejected the claim. I called my insurance and they never submitted the claim or it would have been paid. Now over a year later I was forced to pay our of pocket because too much time has gone by to be covered by my insurance. They never contacted me at all via email, mail or phone for over a year and now its too late. Due to their mistake I am out $80 and they lost a repeat customer. read more

I had an eye exam and purchased some glasses from this location about a month ago. When I picked up my glasses, I had to bring them back a few days later because the prescription seemed off. Doctor Nanni immediately figured out the problem and explained it to me. Apparently the lens curve on my previous (most current before these new ones) glasses was about 5.5, whereas most good labs will automatically make the curve as low as possible for the thinnest, lightest lens. If your eyes are used to a certain curve, everything else will make things look rather psychedelic (kind of warped), so if you're having this problem after a few days with your new prescription, have it checked out. This also happened to me the last time I bought glasses (at a very expensive optician on the NW side of town), but it wasn't explained well, so I didn't know to tell Costco about the situation. I was also having problems with the fit of the frame, so when I talked to Rick in the optical department (who I highly recommend--he's great and knowledgeable), he recommended I start from scratch with a new frame. I haven't ordered my new glasses yet, but when I do, I'm supposed to call Rick so he can make sure the lab gets the curve right for me. I am very satisfied with the customer service I received, as well as the thorough explanations from both Dr. Nanni and Rick. I will definitely return to this location for all my and my family's future eyewear needs. read more
