I never have to wait. They have a very efficient system. The first time I went to them, the optometrist used a special machine to check my corneas, which had been a concern for every optometrist before, because I tested hi. It turned out that the machine he was using indicated that I had thicker than average corneas, causing the old tests to misdiagnosed as pressure which could be indicative of early glaucoma. I also appreciate that they are willing to go through insurance friendly glasses with that trying to upsell me. read more

I've had good experiences with Dr. Jones and with the glasses I've bought here. But good luck trying to get in touch with anyone in the office by phone or email. I wasn't given a copy of my glasses prescription at my last appointment, and I can't seem to contact anyone to obtain it. I was hoping not to have to make a special trip, but I guess I'll be showing up there in person to get this resolved. Quick edit: I went to the office to pick up my prescription. Got this done quickly, no problems. I was told their internet was down this morning, which is why they couldn't take phone calls. I had a prescription change exam with Dr Amy... nice person, very satisfied... $48... I had never been in before and they did not insist on a full exam... I called for another prescription change exam... this time they gave me some nonsense about having to do a full exam... which I did not want or need... since I had not been in to THEM for a few years... I had several such exams at retina Associates, which is a great place, but they do not do prescriptions... so what changed, other than an increase in greed? On the plus side, the waiting area and office areas are modern and nice, and the exam process is thorough, with a helpful team in place. On the down side, I went for a full vision exam and asked to receive a copy of my prescription that day. A few weeks later, when I decided to shop for eyeglasses, I realized that my Rx didn't have the PD included. When I stopped by Family Vision to ask for that measurement, they didn't have it on record and said it would be a $10 charge to provide it because they needed to compensate the optician for the time needed to perform the task. I noted that I was a current customer who had just had an exam, but the assistant said that didn't matter. In many decades of visiting eye doctors in several states, I have never been asked to pay a fee for my PD measurement, and it's unclear why that isn't part of an exam and/or covered by insurance. Overall, I will still go there and appreciate the convenient location. read more

I have been a patient here for years now and think they are the best in town! I enjoy all of the optometrists I've seen here and they have the best staff - the front desk has amazing customer service and is always able to help me with anything I need! I feel like all of my concerns are addressed during my appointment and am never rushed. I mainly wear contacts, but also enjoy my 2 pairs of glasses from here (the staff is also wonderful at helping you pick out frames that actually compliment your face and have great recommendations)! In addition, this place charged me $337 for 90 days of contact lenses, but I got a 180 day supply of the exact same from 800-CONTACTS for $403. June 24 2023 I arrived in the lobby at family vision center on Tanque Verde. I had a pair of 2 year old bi focal glasses I had purchased there. I brought along the glasses as I expected to show them to the sales pErwin and buy new ones. My two year old glasses were ruined, I thought. Not so! Camyle came to the rescue. She was sure she could fix them. Her demeanor was friendly, competent and professional. About fifteen minutes later, my glasses were fixed. A very positive experience. So far we've only had the exam and have yet to receive actual spectacles, but the process so far has been very good. If only for the staff, Family Vision Source is highly recommended. We brought a family member here who was visiting from out-of-town and needed to see an eye-doctor. I have discovered that in Tucson, eye doctors are busy people. Even Costco had a two-week wait for new appointments. So I was especially grateful to have our family member slotted into a cancelled appointment the same day I called. Our overall experience is consistent with other Yelp! reviews: we had an overwhelmingly positive interaction with the staff. Staff make or break the reputation of a medical clinic. In the case of an optometrist, patients spend more time with staff then with the actual doctor as they go through the process of selecting frames, len options, and being fitted for the actual glasses. We found Nick helpful, patient, knowable and engaging. When it's my turn for an eye exam, I think I'll come back here. Points to ponder: decent, but not huge selection of frames for guys, but major brands represented; 50% off of second pair (we got 50% off the more expensive of two pairs of glasses ordered); they are happy to fit new lenses into old frames (with some provisions), as final fitment and grinding is done on site. Turn around time for new lenses seems about two weeks. As for actual exam, relevant detail is the use of "Optimap" instead of dilation of the eye. An actual picture is take, and can be used as a baseline against future exams (to see if there are changes in the eye that require further investigation). Recommended. read more

In this time of COVID, this office team met you at their door to read over basic info and so they could take your temperature. They also had plexi-glass barriers at front desk and where you can try eyewear, everything wiped down before you used it at your exam and gloves worn when needed. I must say, the exam I had at Family Vision Source is probably the most thorough exam I've had in a long, long time - and I've had lots. Staff was friendly and the doctor communicated well. The only sticking point was the purchase of the glasses. Despite my having insurance and providing my own frames, my cost was almost $500 for one pair of glasses. Ouch!! Myself and my family visited for our annual eye check-ups and to order new glasses. The staff there was fantastic so please take the rest of this review with a grain of salt. I was one of the very first appointments in the morning. As soon as I entered the facility, I was given some documentation to fill out. Within maybe a minute of receiving this documentation, I was taken to the area to begin the eye check-up. I was also ensured that it was no problem that I had not completed the documentation and that I could finish it afterwards. After the initial work was done, I was led to the room where the optometrist would be seeing me and told to place my clipboard on a chair to be completed later. The staff member asked me some questions to complete for the optometrist that they would need since I not completed the paperwork such as do I have high blood pressure or diabetes (yes or no questions). The staff member entered these into the computer and stated that the doctor would be here in a moment. The doctor entered the room no more than 2 minutes later. Upon entering, introduced herself and asked if I had completed the paperwork. I said that I had not. I was then on the receiving end of a contentious verbal argument about why I had not completed the documentation including the statement "So you've just been sitting here this whole time?" I couldn't believe it. Being talked to as if I were a child whose mother had caught them doing something wrong. I am a late 30's disabled United States Marine veteran and a senior-level professional with a graduate-level education that was simply not given enough time to fill out some paperwork and assured it was fine. Not some immature degenerate that came into this business to cause havoc. Nobody should be talked to this way and I certainly wasn't going to let it happen. I was less than half of a second from just walking out of the office. However, I decided to just let it go and move on, unlike herself who apparently is an Army reserve officer herself who should absolutely know better. She then proceeded to talk to me like I was some sort of young child and continued to do the same to my wife who is a 17 year Army non-commissioned officer. We will certainly never be back to this establishment or recommend it to anyone. This is incredibly unfortunate given how wonderful literally everyone else in this establishment was. read more

An ophthalmologist recommended this office and I have gone to Dr Dechant for two years. The office has the newest technology and they are very efficient. Dr Dechant is very thorough and shows me the pictures they take of my eyes so I understand what is going on. I haven't bought new glasses there yet but will when I need them. read more

This practice is professionalism personified. Everyone from the front desk staff, the assistants, the optical staff and the doctors have always been friendly and helpful. Our family's been coming here since they were at their old office on Kolb. At one point or the other we've been seen by Dr. Curtis, Dr. Amy or Dr. Horst. Each one is terrific and great with my kids. My son hates having anything near his eyes and the doctors and staff are kind and patient with him.
