I left this post on the DC Aer Lingus from my local airport and am just copying the the Dublin location below. This is from a few years ago now. Never got a response to the post. ----- Okay, I am really not one to complain. I don't think I have ever had to write a review as negative as I do now. The actual flight was fine, a normal international flight. It was comfortable, the food was filling and didn't make you feel like you were traveling and eating gross airplane food. However, my issue is with their customer service. Without going into details that will bore you about my specific situation, Aer Lingus screwed up. They gave us a connecting flight that didn't give us enough time to make the flight so we were stuck in Boston (our layover city) for a day and didn't have a place to stay. They wouldn't put us up in a hotel and they misplaced our bags that we had to take with us until the next day when we were getting on the next flight. So the next day comes and they tell us that we weren't actually put on the next flight as we were told. Instead we were only reserved for the flight, which essentially means standby. We had missed a day and a half of our vacation and it was because of their oversights. We finally got taken off standby and ran to make the flight to begin our vacation. When I contacted Aer Lingus after getting back to the US, they were extremely unhelpful. They deflected the blame to Expedia, where I had booked the flights. I was sent back and forth many times between the two companies because each told me it was the other's fault. Finally, someone from Expedia said she would speak directly to someone from Aer Lingus, and the woman finally admitted that yes, it was Aer Lingus' fault these things had happened. I had to write them an email (no phone available to talk directly to a person about this type of issue). It took over 2 months for them to get back to me about what had happened. When I followed up on the phone with someone to check that the email had gone through, the man on the line was incredibly rude. Like in a way I had never been spoken to before. He kept interrupting me and minimizing my concerns. It was really upsetting. Ultimately, someone responded to my email saying that there was nothing he could do and sorry for the inconvenience. We ultimately made it to Ireland had a great time, but taking Aer Lingus was not worth it. The customer service was just terrible and I'm left with an unresolved problem. I lost a few hundred dollars in expenses and there was nothing left to be done. I hope this doesn't happen to you, but wanted to tell my story to warn you--deal with another air line if possible. They were just so unhelpful and not understanding of my perspective. read more

The flight from New York to Dublin was great. The flight attendent brought me water before the flight took off so I could take my anxiety pills... they work way better than alcohol! That was sweet of her. The in flight meal they served us looked like dog food, but tasted like it was made for a king. Absolutely delicious! Beef stew with peas and carrots and bread. I loved the selection of inflight movies and tv shows on my own personal tv screen built in to the chair infront of me! Yay for Family Guy and Paull Rudd movies! They even sell you duty free alcohol and cigs on board if you didn't get a chance to hit the duty free at the airport (i didn't.) my only complaint was that I was in coach and the seats were cramped. US Airways had roomier coach seats. read more

It's hard for me to rate any airline with decent stars. I'm just not a fan of those diseased ridden, flying death traps, and who can blame the poor people who work them. I would be a bit ornery as well if I had to deal with the likes of me, everyday, all day. Still, I guess there has to be something said about doing your job and doing it well. Or quit damn you. So much to my surprise, I was very well content on both the flight out and the flight in on Aer Lingus. Seats are like most airlines, snacks and drinks roll out pretty fast, staff is friendly, and having to choose from like 20 inflight movies gives them high marks from me. I don't mind you so much Aer Lingus, even if you make everyone giggle around me when I say your name. read more

I don't travel a lot and this was my first international flight. I had a great experience! Each seat had a window, they served a main meal, tea/coffee service, a snack and more tea/coffee service. And then they set up an ongoing drink service, which was wonderful. Basically, the more food, the better the review. read more

I'm not necessarily a particularly well travelled person but regardless of where I'm going I tend to have to start my journey from Dublin Airport, seeing as that's where I'm from. I've always found Dublin Airport such a rush job! Rushing every where long lines, & everything is quite dated. That is until I went to terminal 2! Oh my GOD I love it there. Everyone is so pleasant & so much more relaxed. Security seems to move much more quickly and the food options through security are decent enough too! Now my experience has been limited to just Aer Lingus when I do travel through here but all the Aer Lingus gates are within a reasonable distance, all the staff are so friendly & everything in Terminal 2 seems so shiney & new. They've also just recently added a Butlers Cafe, just what you need before you leave Ireland for a period of time, a last bite of Irish Chocolate! read more

sadly flying is not a special thing any more and flying with the National Carrier is just as mundane as flying with anyone else. However, despite the fact that you pay for just about everything they still manage to allocate seat numbers which, although a small thing, definately keeps them a smidge better than Ryan Air etc... Could be a lot worse. read more

Well, as US Airways totally crapped out on me for both legs of my international journey, fate would have it that I ended up being reprotected for some portion of either journey on Aer Lingus, an airline I had heretofore never used. The trans-Atlantic flight was excellent. Plenty of leg room, your own private TV with plenty of movies/TV/music/games. Fairly good meal service and very helpful and efficient flight attendants. Inter-European flights weren't quite so grand, but I suppose that's to be expected. Same great service, though, and wonderfully free of the "mechanical failures" that plagued the American carrier I was supposed to be on. read more

Flights are on time much more than any other airline I have flown from the US, service is friendly for the most part (on an average I have a better experience than most airlines - and I fly quite a bit - at least once per month), the planes are clean and I have never had an issue with any lost luggage. I did have some damage to a buggy which I was flying with but they seemed to direct me through the process quick enough to seek reimbursement. One thing which I really do like is that for most airports and almost always Dublin, they pre-board families flying with small children. I don't know if it was all the warnings from others concerning flying with small children on other airlines, such as Ryanair, but I generally will only look at Aer Lingus fares now. It helps that they are generally lower priced for most routes as well. read more

This is the review I submitted on the Aer Lingus customer support page: Simply put, this is the worst airline and website in the history of travel. I've been to 37 countries around the world and I take about 80 flights per year. The website is beyond awful. I have to enter and re-enter the same information over and over and over and over. It is so frustrating. I've created an account...why doesn't my trip show up in my account? Why don't you have an option to add the trip? Why doesn't the trip link to my account? Why can't I check in for the flight on my mobile phone? Why couldn't I select my seat prior to the 24 hour check in period? ON and ON and ON!!! Oh, and I haven't even talked about actually flying on your airline. First, I'm wondering....are you seats made of concrete? Did you save a lot of money going with the most narrow and least padded seats in the airline industry? I have never been more uncomfortable on a flight in my life, and I fly coach about 98% of the time. Awful. Beyond awful. Oh....the "food" you served on the flight....are you serious? First, your flight attendant hands out the wrong menus and doesn't tell anyone that they are inaccurate. So, I chose the chicken curry. That's not like any curry I've ever had. Do you put curry in your curry? Or just make a brownish sauce and call it curry? Here's a tip....cook the rice! It's so much more enjoyable for the person eating it! A good third of the rice was uncooked and hard as, well, uncooked rice! Then.....before landing, the flight attendant just walked around and essentially racially profiled the passengers in determining whether to give them the American Breakfast Burrito or the Irish Breakfast Burrito. I watched her examine each passenger before actively electing which one to hand them. Along with that came....nothing. No drink. Not even a napkin. The service was terrible. The food was terrible. The seat was terrible. The only good thing about this flight was that it landed safely. read more

I love Aer lingus. We had to travel with our 16 month old form JFK to DUB and I nearly wanted to stay on the plane. Flight attendants make or break a flight and Aer Lingus have the best in the world. They were extremely helpful and Dermot kept young Rónán entertained with his funny faces. Food was great. We had row 12 seats- extra leg room, the 1st row basically unless you're in 1st class and worth the extra money. The planes even look cool. I hate Jet Blue and American Airlines..... read more

Used Aer Lingus Vacation Store (http://www.aerlingusvacationstore.com/) to book my first trip to Ireland and I was not disappointed. The website was easy to navigate and I found extremely good pricing with a variety of package options to choose from. I called prior to booking online to ask a question and found the customer service representative to be helpful. She gave me the tip to book the trip online instead of with her over the phone to save a few dollars. My itinerary arrived via email with each hotel stay, flight, and our rail service listed in an easy to understand way. The trip itself was gorgeous with zero snags from Aer Lingus for flights, hotels or the rail service. We met several other people during our vacation that also used Aer Lingus to book and they all echoed with the same excellent experience. I recommend whole hardheartedly if you are considering booking a trip to Ireland! read more

Mediocre airline, but it goes nonstop from DC to Dublin, which is great. Definitely sit on the sides since it is two seats.

Although there was a huge queue for the passport control at Amsterdam Airport and had to spend 45 minutes in security lines, I managed to get to the gate 15 minutes before departure time, but the assistant didn't let me on board, as the door was already closed even though people were stuck at airport control. They ruined my birthday weekend with my family. Totally inhuman treatment and they refuse to give any refund, the customer service is not available during weekends and during weekdays after 20 minutes waiting time they hang up if they receive a complaint. WORST company ever!!! read more

Ooooo, a shiny new plane landing at a shiny new terminal and there was a shiny new plane bridge too.... what luxury. And lets not forget the assigned seat. These things did really make a difference to my trip back home, when upon landing I was met with torrential rain. The planes decor is softer on the eyes too. And the staff softer on the ears (not as a hard a sell on Aer Lingus).. I do defend the benefits of the other airline a lot when I hear people complain about them.... but I have to admit it was nicer flying with Aer Lingus on this occasion. read more

I have used Aer Lingus a couple times for my international travels to Ireland, Scotland and even England all to/from this specific location. So far I have enjoyed their services, with the exception of two hiccups that happened on the same flight. Hiccup 1 - I sat on the part of the plane where you are in front of a big wall. Since there were no underseat space to store my belongings, I was forced to store my backpack in the overhead bin. My belongings were not in the middle of the aisle, so I don't see what the big issue was. The intention of bringing my backpack was to have it next to me, not 5 aisles over. With all that wall space, they could have either placed a sign indicating that your small carry-on needs to be placed in the overhead bin, and also indicate that when you are given your seat assignment. I don't understand why they couldn't create some type of baggage holder on the wall. There was an area of that wall that had a pull out table with a baby carrier attached to it. If you can hang your baby on the wall, you can certainly hang your bag off of it too. Lol Hiccup 2 - I was instructed to leave my shoes on during the flight. International flights are not a short, and my feet don't smell. lol. That flight attendant was just on a power trip. I mentally gave her the finger as I strategically kept my backpack close by, and left my shoes off. --------------------- SIDE NOTES -- If you are seated in front of the big wall, be aware that the pull-out table and mini television are not attached to the wall, but to the side of your seat. -- TVs are typically mounted on the backseat head area of the passenger in front of you. Unfortunately the touch screen is not very sensitive, and there are a lot of passengers that forget that someone is sitting in front of them... Be prepared to have the back of your head poked at. -- Food was pretty good. I especially enjoyed the tea. -- Upon booking, you will be charged a fee if you select your seats, which I don't get. Your seat will be assigned at the check-in gate. Families and groups, will definitely be split up if you opt out. A father was upset when he realized his young daughter was sitting on the far back of the plane, and he was closer to the front. -- I found it interesting how you enter/depart the plane in Dublin. You literally walk onto the tarmac, and may even take a bus on the runway. I guess they don't do connecting bridges in Ireland. -- Reading a couple of yelp reviews, it appears there are issues with lost luggage. Um, good luck! Rule of thumb, keep a pair of clothing with you and your essentials in a carry-on just in case your luggage does get lost. Things happen, and no matter how much you complain, if you aren't prepared you will still be SOL. read more

Take your own food and beverage aboard with you - especially water. Extremely limited service. Cramped quarters. And within Europe, they charge for ANY and ALL beverages. Want a small cup of coffee or water? It will cost you. On transatlantic, they may be by only a couple of times in 9 hours. Not horrible but very bare bones. 9 hours is a long time to go with regional budget airlines level service. Given another option, I would be unlikely to fly them again. My experience with most other European airlines has been much better. read more

A great first international flight experience. Yes you don't get a huge amount of leg room, but I don't think you get that on any airline anymore. I usually fly Southwest for normal travel and this was far superior than that. The in flight entertainment was a great surprise. The selection is limited but still great to have. If your have dietary requirements just READ when you are booking. I heard several people complain on the flight about being vegan or vegetarian and having no option. I'm not a huge reader when I book things, I tend to assume there are standard fees and I'm not canceling so I'm fine with whatever comes up. But I even noticed the disclaimer to request a special meal when I booked my flight. So please Read! Overall the service was fine. My attendants were pleasant and they got me from point A to point B efficiently and on time. I'll fly them again and honestly can't wait to book my next trip! read more

Very polite staff make you feel welcome and keep you well fed with surprisingly good nutritious food on transatlantic flights. Just wish the seat cushions were more comfortable. 7-8 hrs + and I was squirming like crazy. read more

One star because 0 isn't an option. The nice things I can say are: The planes were clean. The staff smiled and was fairly friendly. The downsides may be too long to fit here: Boarding seemed a bit disorganized. But okay, I can live with that. In-flight entertainment for our 10 hour flight was mediocre. The selection wasn't fantastic, but decent. More importantly though, many screens weren't working so for the first hour of the flight, they rebooted the system several times. Annoying, but not a deal breaker. Meal time: have you ever been on an international flight that didn't include complimentary alcoholic beverages? If your answer is "no" then you haven't flown Aer Lingus. The food was decent (better than most U.S. airlines but not as good as Lufthansa). Alcoholic beverages were an additional fee. Sales pitch: most of the attendants energy seems to go to selling you products from their duty-free catalog. They rush service to get to this portion of the flight. Dublin terminal: hard to find, even harder to find help from Aer Lingus staff, disorganized boarding. Additionally, we were stopped as we got on the plane and told because it was full, our carry on luggage would be stored with the checked bags. When we got on the plane, not only was it not full, there were entire overhead bins that were empty. Several other people - all Americans - were "randomly" chosen to have their bags pulled. Second leg: we had a 3-ish hour flight from Dublin to Rome. The flight was decent. However, I was shocked to find that I had to pay for any snacks and even my tea had a price tag attached! Again, rushed service so they could begin their sales pitch. All of these things added up would be minor annoyances but when we landed in Rome, the real problems began. No luggage. I repeat: NO luggage. Our carry-ons that were snagged in Dublin showed up but our actual checked bags did not. The woman at the lost baggage counter in Rome told us they didn't make the connecting flight in Dublin and would be sent over in the morning. We should have them within 48 hours. Upsetting, concerning, discouraging, yes. But we were still hopeful our trip wouldn't be impacted. Oh, the sweet bliss of ignorance. We had no idea that we were dealing with a company that doesn't do customer service. No calls. No emails (except in response to our constant questions and requests for info). The bags were found two days after we landed and promised to be to us by the people in Rome, one to two days after that. We are now almost a week without luggage and our tour has been canceled. The address for delivery in Montepulciano is the only location we can be at because Aer Lingus informed us (VIA TWITTER) that if we are not there, our luggage is going back to the U.S. As in, we'll never see it again. Numerous calls and emails have netted zero information. No one can tell us if our bags will arrive in a day or a month. It's not an option for us to pick them up as they've been sent to a mysterious courier (with no name) who screens their phone calls and won't answer if we call from a U.S. number. When we call from an Italian number they say maybe tomorrow, maybe the next day. Another couple in our tour group flew Delta and had the same thing happen - their bags missed the connecting flight. It took about 24 hours and they were found, reconnected with them, all while being well-informed by the lovely people at Delta. They are currently headed to Cinque Terre and Florence while we sit here waiting for our bags. So, buyer beware. Every penny you save on this airline, will quickly disappear in the massive expense of dealing with their ineptitude. And they absolutely do not care. read more

Worst service, rudest staff. We fly a lot and let me tell you the Aer Lingus staff from the ticketing agents to the flight attendants, are the rudest "customer service" people I've come across. Also, let me add, I am not over weight but I am very tall and the seats on their planes are very, very narrow and the leg room terrible. Irony here, but as I type this they just announced our flight delayed due to technical problems.... Awesome. BTW, the locals in Ireland call it Aer Fungus. read more

There should be a zero star rating JUST for this airline. Save yourself a headache and pay the extra for a better airline. If your flight goes perfectly, I'm sure the airline is fine. But all airlines are fine if the flight goes perfectly. If something goes wrong, don't expect this airline to help you with anything. The customer service of this airline is the WORST I have ever experienced. No one seems to be able to help you and they just pass it on to the next person. "Oh, CUSTOMER CARE handles this." "No no no, that's RESERVATIONS who can do that." As far as i can tell so far, no one seems to be able to do anything at this airline except take your money for terrible service. If they had better seats with some padding and about 2 inches wider on each side they may have got 4 stars. As soon as I pulled my camera out and before we even took off, the head flight attendant got snotty with me telling me no photos in a long and harsh tone. She gave me the impression she would throw me off the flight if I continued. If I knew Aer Lingus banned photography on board I would have been a little more careful. I am a highly skilled documentary photog. I hold the world record with how close you can get to a person and still shoot a candid. I have candid's going down to 2 or 3 inches. This candid of 'Order Women Like Pizza' is 1 foot away from the subject.. I will never fly Aer Lingus again. Came from Chicago to Dublin and they lost my luggage. It was missing for almost 2 days, and they kept telling me to "Be Patient." When I called United, who originally had my bag to see what they could do, they walked over to Aer Lingus, pointed my bag out, and asked them to immediately send it to me in Dublin. Even then, my luggage wasn't put on the next 2 flights to Dublin. When I asked what expenses they would cover while waiting for my luggage, they said,"You should have carried on more personal items." Never again! read more

Aer Lingus is Ireland's National and International Airline. They have an impeccable safety record and their staff and policies are a hell of a lot friendlier and nicer than rival Ryanair! However, Aer Lingus prices are a little more expensive than Ryanair and sometimes even more expensive than Delta Air, especially for flights to the States. But for good service and cheapish flights to European destinations and airports that don't leave you 50 miles away from the city center they are a good choice! read more

My Ratings: Quantity: 4 - Good Quality: 4 - Good Price: 4 - Great Location: 4 - Nice Service: 4 - Good Speed: 4 - Good Overall: Affordable, friendly and good overall. My Opinion/Story: Online booking was easy and I was even able to upgrade my seats to a better seat. Wish I did the same when I came back home but now I know. The attendants were nice and the seats were ok. The food wasn't so bad but it's not the best. They do feed you alot and offer you drinks all the time. They didn't turn off the lights for people who wants to sleep but it wasn't too bright either. The cabin pressure was cold but they give you a pillow and blankets to block the chill. You also get personal monitors to watch several shows and movies. I like their selection of movies which are mostly the ones I haven't seen yet. I was well entertained. The price that I paid was good and reasonable. Service is good. read more

Aer Lingus has a much more revered 'air' about it in comparison certainly to the utterly futile Ryanair. It's service is much more organized with significantly less, if any flights cancelled, delayed or rescheduled, staff who respect their passengers and even a much more pleasing interior within their planes. I'm not being pedantic, but instead a conscientious passenger who appreciates attention to detail when I commend them on things like speedy boarding for all, being flexible and pretty relaxed not pedantic to the point of sheer hair-splitting craziness about how much you can take on board unlike Ryanair's doctrinaire regulations, the pleasing classical music playing as you board the plane and get to your seat and unexpectedly appetizing on-board food. Overall there's just a sense of something so much more unruffled and unperturbed about Aer Lingus, certainly in comparison to its rival Ryanair. Never when flying with Aer Lingus do I worry about any potential holdups or setbacks, inevitable delays or cancellations, nor am I ever worried that my baggage will exceed the stern restrictions like I am when flying with Ryanair. To not have to contend with the unnecessary agro that Ryanair puts you through is unsurprisingly, a welcomed treat. It is a sign of the times when an unflustered journey proffered by an airline is dubbed an indulgence. When was it that the quality of a journey stopped being unconsciously expected? It's when passenger's expectations plummet as a result of this that airlines like Ryanair exploit our newfound dropped levels of anticipation and thus proffer us nothing but an inadequate travel experience. The only thing that ticks me off about an otherwise dependable and pleasurable Aer Lingus experience is the seat allocation strategy. Everyone has a seat number that all passengers must abide by. I realize that it means everyone gets to definitely sit with their travel companions and the people they check-in with but the time and added effort involved in eventually getting to your seat is farcical. Having to squeeze past or have people wedge past you in the slim aisles trying to get to their seats, not having the option to settle on the seat directly in front of you but instead having to keep trudging further down makes for a calamitous boarding experience. This is truthfully the only, not even bad, just annoying thing about the whole Aer Lingus experience. Other than that I can say nothing but good things about this most steadfast of airlines. read more

Roundtrip LHR-DUB was a first time on EI for me. What a study in contrasts. The transfer desk in T-2 was great, the staffer helpful and warm. Boarding was a bit of a mess, a full flight and not an organized queue, quite the crowd shuffling around and then narrowed onto the jetway. Messy. EI162 cabin crew professional and engaging, made the short flight easy with good cabin service, attentive to pax. EI169 was a contrast. Boarding was much more organized and easier. Then a glitch: guy in front of me bugs 2 cabin crew and they snap at him and then peer at me. I say 'hello' and they both ignore me. OK, whatever. Both guy and I are in same row but he's on the window across the aisle, I'm in a center seat on the right. Putting one's tray table down is a universally understood gesture: something please. Both guy & I do this and both of us are ignored by the cabin crew in front and the cabin crew in back, even though I raise my hand and say 'Excuse me'. He gives up. I ring for service and get my water. Right after I get it the captain announces service done, finish up. Oh, aren't these vixens clever. Like a meat cleaver, the lot of them. The smirk on the blond as she walked past looking at me said it all: mean girls. A couple others came by and smirked as well. Only when I need to in the future with this line, and I'll keep my eye out for more mean girls. It seems they are only to be found in Ireland working for Aer Lingus, I've not encountered one on the ground as of yet. read more

I totally agree with Joshua R. about the staff- they're weird. I think best described as hit or miss. My flight from ORD to DUB was perfect. I was so impressed by all the in-flight entertainment that I barely had time for the sleep I had planned. I didn't have any problems with the staff, they were all nice. On the way back to Chicago, the entertainment was the same - impressive, even if it's not unique. But the staff was not friendly. At all. On my inbound flight, there were blankets and pillows waiting for us on our setas. The outbound flight had none, and when I asked the flight attendant she told me that there weren't enough so they were giving them to the elderly and the children. Ok, but then why did the thirty something year old in front of me get a blanket when she asked? Was it because she was Irish and I'm American? I hope not. Well, that's pretty much irrelevant. The flight attendant came back about an hour and a half, maybe two, into the flight and had miraculously found some blankets. Two, actually. How short of blankets could they be if they're handing out two to one person? I digress. The real point here is, Aer Lingus is a great airline to get cheap flights to Ireland and the UK, just don't expect first class. You may be lucky enough to stumble upon it, but it's not a guarantee. read more

Not impressed with online check in from Aer Lingus. When you check in online for a flight 24 hours prior to departure there is no option to pre book your seat and no mandatory charge to prebook your seat either happydays! But when you try and check in online 48 hours before your flight Aer Lingus puts a mandatory seat selection charge onto the price. I'm a grown adult....I couldn't care less what seat I have to sit in for a 50 minute flight. This is a rubbish extra charge for no reason. I think it will be a shame if they sell Aer Lingus....however this charge is disgraceful!!! Oh and ps there are numerous pages on their website which do not work and this makes for a rubbish consumer experience as well. read more

Wow. I fly with Aer Lingus 10 years ago and was amazed at the customer service and care. That is NO LONGER the case. I called and verified they had our global entry information and noted that I am gluten free. I was assured they had all the info needed. Then It started with check in at JFK were Thadeaus , in his jet blue uniform, mocked us and laughed at us for thinking that AL would honor our pre-check/global entry and use our digital boarding pass. We were at a US airport so I'm not sure why that was so funny. He actually said 'we choose not to participate. You have to have paper boarding pass. Welcome to Aer Lingus'. Then on the flight... I guess all the courteous and responsible employees quit because of COVID? Seats were still fine and food was still decent. But they did not have me notes as GF.‍We spent our week in the UK and start to head back to Dublin airport. When we tried to checkin -We were required to do VeriFLY. It messed up our boarding pass so we had to check in at the desk. The young girl checking us in was very confused. She and the older man beside her told us it was going to cost us to check our bags. I said ' no , we each have a free checked bag' . He said I. Ireland and on Aer Lingus, we had to take the smaller bags with us. I said no, they aren't set up to go on the plane, we have items that have to be checked (i.e. hair products, etc). He argued with me for several minutes about us having to take them on board then switched to saying there would be a fee. Finally- after a very passive aggressive threat about them being 'the beginning of TSA' and knowing the rules- they checked the 4 pieces of luggage. They didn't listen to us about which bag belong to which person , so no bag is correctly ID'd. Going thru customs at Irelands airport, they couldn't tag which bag was which- so global entry really couldn't help .Now I'm waiting to see if they will actually get our bags to us. read more

My family's experience with this airline was inexcusable. We had two flights with them- one from Scotland to Ireland, then from Ireland to New York. Our plane landed late, so we missed the flight to New York. Those things happen sometimes, unexpected delays are part of flying. The inexcusable part was how they handled it. They had new tickets for us to send us to Newark instead of JFK, and when we tried to explain to them that that wasn't going to work because we had another connecting flight at JFK, they told us we were welcome to go out of security to talk to the manager but that they would not help us at that desk. However, going out to the manager's desk and back through security would've meant we would miss the flight to Newark if that ended up being our only option, so we asked if we could just call someone or have them come to the desk and they refused. So, at this point we're going to the wrong airport at the wrong time with no compensation, and we're expected to just be okay with it. Honestly though we got off easy, the guy next to us had to go to Raleigh, NC and they presented him with a ticket to Boston, MA, as if getting him into the States at all was "close enough." There were also a lot of other annoyances about the airline, but honestly they don't feel even necessary to mention in comparison to the fact that they didn't seem to care at all whether or not we get home, which is supposed to be their main job. read more

Let me start by saying there were no issues with our flight from Boston to Dublin. My new husband and I were very excited to visit Ireland for the first time. However, the flight home was horrendous. We arrived at the airport 2 hours early, our self-checkin didn't work, and we had to wait in line. We figured we had more than enough time since our flight wasn't leave the airport until 1130. Fast forward an hour. We finally make it to the desk (about 1030) to check in, and we're told that we've missed our flight. We're then directed to another line where we're told that we need to pay $400 for a "missed flight" fee for two new tickets. We obviously didn't have a choice but to pay the fee, otherwise we wouldn't be able to get home. We wait 4 hours for the next flight, only for it to be delayed to they could swap out tires. Another 40 minutes goes by. We board the flight and travel to Boston, just making our connecting flight from Boston to Philly. Thinking we're in the clear, we arrive at the Philadelphia airport and it turns out that our luggage never made it to Philly with us because the Aer Lingus flight was late. So we had to wait until the next afternoon to get our luggage. When we contacted the company they said that unfortunately the situation was our fault and there is nothing they can do. As much as I want to travel to Ireland again, I dread the idea of taking Aer Lingus. Way to ruin the end of a great honeymoon! read more

ADD ON (SPECIAL Services) ONLY - Rental Car through Aer Lingus Website. When booking my aer lingus flight to Boston, an option was provided at the end of booking to add a car, which I selected. The link sent me through to Hertz. I booked this car and prepaid in order to avail of the discount. When I arrived at Hertz after a 6 1/2 hour flight with my 10 month old baby, I waited over an hour in the queue. At the top of the queue, I was then told that the car I booked and prepaid for was not available and that I needed to go on a waiting list for which I was seventh on the list. The person at the desk was not able to confirm how long the wait would be. After talking to other customers, I found out that those before me on the list had already waited longer than an hour and continued to do so. I could not wait this long (like most others, there was a reason I needed to rent a car at the time that I did) and therefore requested a refund and cancellation. However, since I had waited so long in the line to begin with, the cancellation window had closed and both the clerk and the Hertz manager informed me that their system would not allow a cancellation and refund (a cancellation only). I was told that since I booked through Aer Lingus, they could not process a refund, and I would need to contact that company. I have not been refunded. I have contacted both companies. Both companies have been unhelpful. As things stand, I will never be using any Hertz service again and definitely do not plan to use Aer Lingus's "special" discounted rates. I'm a gold circle member and have spent significant money with Aer Lingus over the last 7-8 years and would expect better customer service. As for hertz, their systems must be antiquated and pick-up process is inefficient and basically stuck in the 20th century. In the age of instant and wide-reaching customer feedback, I would have expected more from a multinational company. The Boston Logan airport desk, is just flat out rude and incompetent. read more

September 5, 2014 Aer Lingus Customer Relations 300 Jericho Quadrangle, Suite 130, Jericho NY 11753, U.S.A. Dear Aer Lingus, While flying your airline on September 2nd, 2014 from Dublin, Ireland to Chicago, Illinois on flight Ei 123 my checked bag, which was limited edition ESP Viper 407 7-string guitar was broken during loading. The damage done clearly shows my guitar was not handled properly or carefully during loading. It was either dropped from a high distance and hit the concrete or placed below baggage, which tremendously outweighed it. The guitar case is cracked through the middle of the entire front side with pieces of the case missing and the inside fabric lining showing through. The guitar case's closures no longer align. Once I opened my case I realized the damage continued to my guitar. The neck of the guitar was cracked off and completely unattached from the guitar's body leaving it in two separate pieces. Inside my guitar case was a Property Irrecularity Report noting my property was damaged with a handwritten file reference number at the top, DUBEI 71696. I did not take out personal travel insurance with Aer Lingus prior to flying and I am now left with a broken guitar. My guitar made it through a month of touring in Europe, driving long distances, staying at hostels and generous friend's houses, and playing 14 countries within the month of August with my band Warhound, but could not make it in one piece through the easiest part of my journey. It is very disheartening to see my prized possession utterly broken showing the lack of respect the employees of Aer Lingus have for their passenger's belongings. Attached are several photos of my damaged case and broken guitar, the letter left inside my property, my flight ticket, and my baggage ticket. With that, I have taken my guitar to a repair shop (Guitar Center) to evaluate the damage and cost of repairs. Attached is the receipt/write up from Guitar Center for the total cost of repairs being $1010. On the Aer Lingus website under "Legal" it clearly state your company is liable for the destruction, loss or damage to baggage. "In the case of checked baggage, it is liable even if not at fault, unless the baggage was defective." I am asking for the full cost of repairing my guitar, which is $1010 and the cost of the case at $200. With that, I hope your company understands the disappointment in having ones belongings broken and the clearly disrespect by the employees of Aer Lingus. My guitar meant everything to me. I wrote and recorded countless EPs and CDs for the past years with my ESP Viper 407. It has also traveled across the states and into 14 other countries with me. I was ready to go home and retire it on my wall as a constant reminder of all my accomplishments, but this accident has prevented it. I am mailing this letter to the address given in the Aer Lingus property damage notice as well as posting it on your social media (facebook, twitter, yelp, etc) so I know it has actually reached your company. Thank you, Jeremy Carroll jckilla88@gmail.com read more

Great booking, staff treated everyone like family, interesting food and drink items available, and very economical international flights. Booked a flight to Gijon, Spain and a returning flight from Barcelona, both with short layovers in Dublin last summer. Everything worked out perfectly amd I plan to use them in the future. Lovely attendants and I can listen to Irish ladies with their district accent talk to me all day! read more

Aer Lingus is Ireland's only airline and it offers some cheap flights to all major European cities. It's also a great carrier to popular USA destinations like New York and Chicago. Round trip airfare to the States costs 200 Euro and upwards. The service is basic: you'll get ushered in, smiled at and given a pillow if you ask. You have to pay for food on short haul flights but that's customary on all airlines now. My favourite thing about Aer Lingus is the flight attendants' uniform. The women wear these funny green boxy skirts and blazers and the men have these tweed looking vests that have yellow plaid on the back. read more

Terrible experience. We paid extra to book two seats next to each other several months in advance. When we get to the airport and print our boarding passes, we get two seats 10 rows apart. Our receipt and bill even shows us our selected seats. None of the flight attendants were attentive or showed any concern. Just gave us blank stares. If I'm paying such money, I expect to get better service. read more
