Who doesn't love an oul dart stop, eh?…read more Dart stops in general are a bit crap, but my local on is Blackrock and I use it pretty much everyday, and I think it's pretty good. There was a mammoth addition of a little tuck shop a couple of months ago, and lord has it brightened the place up no end. We can now buy sweets, crisps, drinks and newspapers before boarding our Malahide/Howth or Bray/Greystones trains. The staff aren't exactly over friendly, but then again, I hardly would be either If I had to wear their manky uniforms.

If you ever happen to be in the vicinity of Blackrock Dart Station at, say, 6am, and are waiting for the first Dart to start running, I highly recommend having a wander over the pedestrian bridge and heading down to Blackrock's 'beach'. Blackrock at sunrise (provided the sun is visible!) is one of the more beautiful things I've seen in Dublin. Absolutely gorgeous. So get to the station way too early, climb on to one of the rock walls and enjoy a few moments of peace before your busy day begins (be sure to look at my photo, too!)

The work to build a new crossway between the two platforms has been going on for what seems like an age. As a result, the temporary structure has made me (and I suspect many others) late on more than one occasion, due to its distance from the entrance. Then, the burning of the office some time ago confounded all the issues, as now there is just one machine to dole out tickets to all who patronise this (admittedly fairly quiet) station. Frustratingly slow to see any changes. And it's the station from town that enters the next price bracket (so always buy a ticket to Blackrock!)

I so wanted to go out here to day! so i set off for the bus stop, (the 75 gets you out to Dun…read moreLaoghaire) and i stood at the stop for over half an hour beforei realised i had not seen one bus pass by not to mind the 75! i think they were all cancelled because of the small bit of snow we had, boo to you dublinbus! anyway i was very disappointed because its a lovely fresh crisp day and a walk along the lesser used pierin Dun Laoghaire would have been perfect today. yes it would have been cold but walking quickly would have warmed you up! This is a great pier to walk along because its less used than the east pier, there are no people to pass out or children running around (sometimes you think the kids on the other pier are going to run off the edgeinto the freezing water, where are their parents!) and everyone on the pier seems to be down with the serious business of getting to the end of the pier and back again. yes the ground is alot more uneven on this pier and yes teddys icecream is further away (even desirable on a day like today) and finally yes there is no cool weather station to look at but i think that this is the pier to be on if your up for a proper walk with a friend or if you want to be alone with your thoughts!

I love this walk perhaps because it is less commercial there are runners, joggers and dogs can be let off the lead. I am not sure if they are allow off the lead but I am not asking so I dont know.

Things we didn't like: there is a pub down stairs that stays open very late in the evening. You can hear the club music all through the room. One night we were kept awake until 2:00AM because of the noise. It just so happened that on this same night, the boiler went out so we had no heat and no hot water to take a shower. I would possibly consider staying here again in the future if I could get a room away from the pub.

Would not recommend, especially for business trips. I was initially provided an invoice receipt for…read morethe incorrect amount. After weeks of attempting to retrieve the correctly priced invoice the manager called only to tell me that I was word for word; being difficult. He was really unkind. They wrote a paper stub that was not accepted by my company for reimbursement, but could not reissue the acceptable invoice receipt which seems unusual. Continually telling me on the phone that I was being unreasonable. I have never been spoken to like that by a service provider, totally unprofessional.
