Apparently, Aer Lingus does not read the reviews here on yelp. I broke my foot a week prior to our trip to Shannon Airport, and called their customer service number the next day. I spent 45 minutes on hold in the afternoon, and thought I'd try my luck the next morning. Another 45 minutes on hold, so I searched the internet for an email account I could use. We booked through Aer Lingus Vacations, so after finding an email address I sent in inquiry. I was told that I would have to contact "the airline." What? Aer Lingus Vacations is NOT he airline? They provided me with the same customer service number, so I went back on hold. After 80 minutes an agent answered my call, and I was dismayed that there was nothing they could do to accommodate the air boot I was wearing. The evening before we were to leave I was searching the Aer Lingus Vacation web site and found an email address for "Special Assistance," and send them an email. The next morning I received a reply, well, not really a reply, more of a "cut and paste" stating that I would need medical clearance in order to board the flight. I replied that it was Sunday in the US, and there was no way for me to contact my Doctor, who was also on vacation, to have the form signed. I received another "cut and paste," email. I managed to get in touch with my Doctor's office and thankfully they had the on-call Doctor sign, scan, and email me the form. Our experience at the airport, and on the flight, was uneventful. When we landed at Shannon, however, Aer Lingus had mis-placed my luggage. We were in Ireland and I had nothing. I didn't even bother to call their "customer service" line - they wouldn't have answered anyway. I attempted to contact the 3rd party provider who services their lost luggage, but they provide a web-portal only, which was never updated. I received my luggage the next afternoon. Aer Lingus must be doing exceptionally well. They don't feel the need to pick up the phone, service their customers, or have any responsibility to the 3rd party providers they've partnered with. Good luck to them. read more
