I've taken a few flights with this carrier and most have been rewards flights I must admit. Overall the airline is fine the flight from Boston to dublin is rather short so the seating is fine for a 6 hour flight in business class. The cost is rather low overall this airline is a fine choice Boston to dublin and is have no problem paying the business class fare for the level of service provided read more

We chose this airline because it was a direct flight from Boston to Shannon. Tickets were pretty expensive ($1150) and we are a family of five. I thought the airplane seemed kind up beat-down and dirty. Lavatory broke on the way there AND back and plane started to smell like urine. Charged for wine?!? For that amount of money a complementary alcoholic beverage on a transatlantic flight is pretty standard. Service was brusk. Overall not impressed. Run like a discount airline at premium prices. read more

The Aer Lingus Club is the dirtiest airport lounge I've ever been to...worse than the Baghdad Airport. The staff doesn't clean anything; stains on the furniture, food literally strewn all over the floor, garbage on the bar. read more

Loved everything about this company from checking in to the business class flights and all the staff. The leg and shoulder room was great I'm 6' 5" and 320lbs and had loads of leg room the seats were a little hard but not enough to bother me. The flights got in on time or early one left late but made up time on way and arrived early. I flew Boston to Dublin then on to Aberdeen. Great small airport in Dublin easy to navigate with helpful airport staff Will definitely fly them again on my trips back to Scotland. Pre check in Dublin was great so nothing to do in Boston but get your bags and walk out. Very happy read more

I like Aer Lingus. Been flying them for years. The ladies can be a bit cold but thats just Irish women in general until ya get to know em (or whiskey gets involved). The in flight movies and map help pass the time. Flights always on time for me. Cant complain.. read more

Still waiting for "refund" of covid19 flight in April 2020. Out $800 as the airline has no ethics. I guess they expect bankruptcy so I will never see the money. A disgrace, beware booking. read more

If I could give them a negative star I would. They cancelled my flight from BOS to SNN with 8 hours notice. No reason was given. Customer service rep offered no apology. She eventually rebooked flights thru LHR which adds 6 hours in transit. My short trip to Ireland just got shorter. I will definitely think twice before using this slimey airline. read more

DO NOT FLY AER LINGUS!! -- TERRIBLE AIRLINE: Read about my horrible experience: Sunday, June 19, 2010 Dear Aer Lingus Customer Service: I am writing to you to express my complete dissatisfaction with your airline and its handling of our connecting flight 592 from Dublin to Madrid on June 16. My family and I flew from Boston (flight 136) on June 15th to Dublin, where we were only allotted 55 minutes to connect to our Madrid flight. Since we left late from Boston we arrived late in Dublin and only had 20 minutes to try to go through the passport control and the subsequent security check before running as fast as we could to try to make our 6:20 AM (flight 592) departure to Madrid. While we were in the security check I asked the guard there three times if we could go to the front of the line since we only had 10 minutes to catch our flight, and she told us to "stay in the queue". Previously, while on our flight from Boston to Dublin the Aer Lingus flight attendant explained to us that since we were connecting on the same airline, our names were in the computers and the Aer Lingus staff in Dublin would know that we were coming. She assured us they would hold the flight if we were only 5-10 minutes late from Boston. Well, they didn't hold the flight, and what's worse is when we arrived at the terminal at 6:22 AM, after running as fast as possible through the terminal, we met three other passengers who were connecting from New York to Madrid. They informed us that your Aer Lingus flight 592 to Madrid left the gate at 6:10 AM -- ten minutes earlier than the 6:20 AM scheduled time! Thus, my frustration grew immensely. Not only did your staff fail to hold the flight when they knew we were arriving late from Boston, but the flight to Madrid left EARLY! Never in my 25 years of travel have I ever experienced such incompetence from any airline. Before I write about your incompetence on my blogs and on various air travel web sites to advise any travelers to avoid your airline from Boston to Dublin, I'd like to give you the opportunity to explain your incompetence and the actions of your inept employees at the Dublin airport. Please answer these questions: 1. Why does Air Lingus have a connecting flight from Boston to Madrid (via Dublin) with only a 55 minute scheduled connect time, which obviously does not allow for any lateness whatsoever? If Aer Lingus had flights to Madrid every hour like larger airports do, the 55 minute connect time would not be much of a concern. However, since Aer Lingus had NO FLIGHTS the rest of the day, we had to wait 8 hours in the airport and fly to Madrid with Iberia Airlines. Again, I have never had to wait in an airport 8 hours due to an airline's fault. Knowing that they have no more connecting flights, Aer Lingus should schedule flight 592 with at least a 2 hour connect time, not 55 minutes!!!!!!!!! 2. Why didn't Aer Lingus hold the aircraft 5 minutes or at least not leave EARLY from the terminal when they knew there were 6 passengers connecting from Boston and New York on their own Aer Lingus flights? Sincerely, Tom Gabriele (First and last time Aer Lingus traveler) read more

If I could give negative stars I would. For the second year in a row they have assigned me, my husband, and 6 year old son separate seats. When I brought this to their attention and we had pre-booked seats they informed me that pre booking was not a guarantee! The agent said he would not change my seat to sit with my son and told me to stand aside. My son was in tears and finally someone else came and helped us but my husband couldn't sit with us. Ridiculous!!! Also, food is terrible and the drinks are a joke. The employees are mostly okay but seem to be more concerned with relaxing in the back galley than actually helping passengers. Avoid if you can. I know I will. read more

The worst customer service I have experienced and I have yet to fly. Realized my connection to Boston for my Aer Lingus flight would be very close so I attempted to contact Aer Lingus - THEY DO NOT ANSWER THE PHONE-EVER!!! Once I finally got through I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told that "it was against regulations" Made it to check in with just enough time, however the counter clerk was too busy on his phone to help us. Again I asked for a supervisor with no luck. Finally, charged $400 to change my flight to one today. I am dreading going to the airport and to the flight to Dublin. More to come... Never got a chance to fly with them. I had a family emergency, booked through american express and when I asked for a voucher, credit, refund or even a portion they told me I needed to pick a date right away for when I want to go to Europe obviously wasn't able to that fast. Its a big trip. Ended up with nothing and wasted $865. No call, no email or anything. I won't be flying with them ever and I'll share my experience with everyone I can. BEWARE EVERYONE - Aer Lingus SCAM! I booked economy class tickets for my husband & I to travel from Boston to Munich, through Dublin. Before departing I received an email asking if I'd like to "bid" on first class. I thought, oh, it's worth a bid. I bid very low, but then received a response telling me that my $650 per seat bid was accepted. I almost had a heart attack! But, then I noticed it told me I could cancel the "bid", & I cancelled it. I was only bidding on part of our journey. From Dublin to Munich was not included. I received an email immediately telling me the bid cancelled. I saved that email, & forgot about it. While in Europe, my cell phone was stolen. I no longer had access to my email except if in my hotel. We were exhausted each night so I rarely checked it. We went to check in at the airport & ran into a problem there, as the computer terminal was not working properly. The woman trying to check us in, was very apologetic & frustrated & eventually had to move us to another line. We didn't complain, and we were very pleasant. When we boarded our second part of the journey, from Dublin to Boston, we were escorted to first class. We were shocked! We thought that we were upgraded, possibly because of the problem with the check in. We were completely happy with the airline up to this point & now we were over the top thrilled! We enjoyed it very much, & told everyone of our great luck. HOWEVER, once home, I used my computer to check my email, and I found another email, sent near the end of our trip telling me "Congratulations! Your bid for $650 per seat was accepted for the return flight!!! I never made a bid for that. It seems, when you place the first bid, it automatically bids on the return as well. I complained to the air line, & they said since I let them seat us in first class & didn't object, they wouldn't refund me (they had charged my credit card for an additional &1,300.00 for the flight!). This is a complete scam, & terribly dishonest. I was never so disappointed! I had been so happy with this air line & now I am sick about the treatment I received! It's a horrible way to treat a customer, a complete SCAM, & should be illegal. We are retired & had saved for this trip for a long time. If we could afford first class I wouldn't have booked economy! I hope word spreads about this policy, because it is very deceptive & I don't want anybody else to be taken in by it! read more

I recently returned from my holiday on an Aer Lingus flight and found my entire experience the least customer friendly experience I have ever had with an airline. My biggest concern is that I had some belongings stolen from my checked bag. Another complaint I have is that I received an email from them less than two weeks before my return to the US informing me that I was required to enter my passport information into the system 72 hours before my flight. I then attempted to complete this action using the website, where it told my I had entered the incorrect departure city. Not having immediate access to a phone because I was on vacation, I spent several days worrying that the flight I booked was somehow changed and I would not be able to get home, or if it was correct, I wouldn't be able to enter the country because I couldn't enter the information through your website. Luckily, I met up with some family members who had a telephone I could use, but then realized there was no toll free number so I had to pay to fix an easily avoidable problem. I had made my booking 6 months prior to my journey and could have been entering necessary information at that time if I had been informed that I must do so, so I do not understand why I would only be informed of this a week before my fight. I was also disappointed with the customer service in the airport. When I arrived, there was only one line open for people to check in. When there was finally another line opened up, the new Aer Lingus employee helped a man that had just walked up to the counter, leaving the rest of us that had already been waiting for 45 minutes still standing in line. I have also never been on another flight that is more than 2 hours where I was not given complementary beverage and snack.. not even offered a glass of water. I would not fly Aer Lingus again, no matter the price. Too much hassel to save a few bucks. read more

Its hard to know how to begin. The seats in coach are absolutely the worst I have ever sat on. They were so hard and narrow and completely uncomfortable. Honestly, the only reason I flew Aer Lingus is because I used rewards points. The food, well, my wife described it as looking like pig food-not a bad way to describe it. It was inedible. The flight attendants, well, they were nasty bunch. The two I delt with acted like they were pissed off that they had to work back in coach. As an aside, the people stting behind us told us we couldnt recline our seats because they didnt want us to. Umm, they also said we needed their permission to recline! Umm, I fly on average 50,000 miles a year and have never been told I needed permission to recline my seat! Very entertaining, especially when we called a flight attendant and he said 'What am I supposed to do"? Well, um, how about telling them its my choice to recline not theirs. And when I saw he was trying to walk away my wife loudly asked him if there was any resriction to reclining one's seat he said 'No". Ah, the delights of flying coach. Bottom line, would I fly Aer Lingus again?? Sure, but only with rewards points. I would NEVER pay cash to fly them! This was quite the eye opener since I thought the worst airline I've flown was United. Pretty bad when an airline races to the bottom and knocks up United........... read more

Very Good! There are a sea of bad reviews for Aer Lingus, which came as a surprise to me. We took a holiday to Ireland in May, 2017, and we we impressed all the way 'round. The economy class seats were typical, the entertainment system was below standards, and the food was a bit better than expected. If that sounds like a two- or three-star review, I would give it two or three stars and leave it at that. But... That fourth star is there because of the people. The customer service was outstanding! Everybody was friendly and courteous (with one small exception, but there's always one...), making for two very pleasant flights. read more

It is true that EI uses evil Google to try to trick you to pay more. Use a separate device to book the fare after you are cookied, The planes are old and need upgrades from the toilets to the entertainment system. Any European flight legs will cost you for coffee 2.5€ and anything else. I saw the JFK flight delayed for mechanical reasons, I guess they do not have back up aircraft . This is basically Iceland Air in Green. However, the preclearance of US border formalities in DUB is a real time and hassle saver. Your baggage is booked through to your US destination, you are shown a photo of your bag for ID and it arrives ready to go home at your US airport. The transfer process is a bit bureaucratic and the EU side security folks were quite grumpy (maybe a laid off former banker). The DUB airport terminal that EI uses is really compact there are enough things to do for an hour...the chocolate and coffee bar downstairs is good and the upstairs Harvest Market had a really good fish meal (see review). Just about every airline experience these days will be fair to poor so why obsess over the lousy food...care about getting out of the airport with all your stuff quickly and safely. EI seems to do that reasonably well at a good price. If you want to pay $1000 more for a bit more leg room or $2000 more for a mini bed each way, you should not be wasting your time reading Yelp reviews!! read more

We just returned from a trip to Ireland where we flew Aer Lingus. Before leaving my husband received an email from Aer Lingus to bid for an upgrade for his seat. He replied to the email and bid $20... he then received an email that he got the upgrade. He was thinking he was paying the $20 that he bid. While in Ireland we checked our banking account and realized that Aer Lingus was charging us $730 for the upgrade. We then called Aer Lingus to put a stop to the upgrade on the return flight but we were told we could not do that. We feel as though this was a bait and switch situation. We would have never of paid $1460 for an upgrade. Why would we make a bid and then pay full price?? It doesn't make sense... all we were willing to pay was the $20 I have sent Aer Lingus two email's through there website within the last week and still have yet to hear from them regarding this matter. read more

I have flown this route 4 times in the last year and had a great experience each time. Check in is fast and twice I was able to walk right up to the agent with zero wait time! All 4 times I flew thru security with ease. I don't shop at airports so don't need a 'mall'. Yes, the planes are small and seats rather crowded but all airlines seem to be the same. I prefer to sleep on overseas flights anyway. I gave 4 instead of 5 stars because the food on Air Lingus is not very healthy or tasty. read more

We just had a horrible experience with Aer Lingus customer service. A ticket agent's unwillingness to help solve a boarding problem led us to miss the flight from Paris to Chicago. After failing to assist with luggage check in and boarding (we missed our flight), the only response I received was to wait for the next flight (4 days away) and that the change fee for tickets would cost 5,400 euros (no joke). This was a complete wreck of our trip. I feel that the personnel need some training on how to solve problems and propose solutions. What I walk away from this experience is that if you aren't 100% perfect with your trip details, don't expect assistance from Aer Lingus staff. read more

Yesterday we boarded an Aer Lingus flight and were told that there were no places available for my husband and me to sit together, even though we booked our tickes together. They said we should have pre selected our seats online. Now the only option we had was to pay 55 euros per person extra. We've taken more than 100 flights and have NEVER seen this situation. We were not warned that if we didn't select our seats online we might not be sitting together. Even with the cheapest budget airlines we always got seats together. After we paid, and boarded the plane, we saw there were actually many seats available where we could sit together. I wrote to them explain the situation. They answered that in this case:" they provide extra legroom and priority boarding" but when I wrote that there are were not many people to use priority and was no extra legroom and then, they just advise me "We would recommend reqesting seats at the time of booking....." We will never ever use this airline again. I think it's outrageous how Aer Lingus treat their customers. read more

Another negative -5 stars for Aer Lingus. Folks, is anyone seeing a class action suit? Out of work attorneys, look no further than these scamming airlines that exploit every opportunity to extract credit card payments. In our case, we (my husband) did not reply to the email to pay the remaining $1900, after I had authorized a $1500 deposit on tickets. We (he) missed the stated deadline, and now we have no tickets, and the deposit will not be credited to rebooking the seats. Nothing in the confirmation email stated it was a non-refund deposit. According to all advocates I've called, the disclaimer on the AL website suffices to cover this fraudulent practice. read more

Used 253,000 miles to purchase a Business Class seat for vacation to Dubrovnik (which is beautiful). Aer Lingus oversold the flight and unapologetically put me in a center coach seat. I was at the airport, ready to leave and they offered for me to change my travel date if I wanted. Take it or leave it. I was told to submit a claim and that they would refund miles. I have submitted 2 claims, followed up with phone calls (during the 9-5 hours they "work"). 2-months later and have received nothing back after hours spent on this. The one time I was able to connect with a rep from the company, he suggested I get a refund for the ticket from my credit card company ... seriously. He felt since my CC company issued the mileage ticket, they should refund the miles. I couldn't make this up if I tried. The airline industry is wrought with a systemic lack of integrity; and in that industry this airline has distinguished itself as one of the very worst. I share this review with anyone who reads it in hopes of sparing you a poor travel experience with this airline. It looks like I am going to have to eat my 253K miles and move on with my life - and of course I will let it go. I will never again fly this airline, even if a ticket costs half the price of another airline. This airline experience from beginning to end was one of the worst ever and I travel a lot. read more

I recently had one of the most dissatisfying customer services experiences I've ever encountered with Aer Lingus. My husband and I will be flying to Pisa this July on Aer Lingus with a layover in Dublin. We recently were emailed a new itinerary showing us booked on multiple flights from Dublin to Pisa. When we called customer service to ask about the new itinerary, (1) we were put on hold for hours and were unable to speak to a customer service representative multiple times and (2) once we finally were able to speak to a representative, they told us that our original Dublin to Pisa flight had been canceled. The only other flight from Dublin to Pisa that day would depart too early for us to make the connection, so Aer Lingus had automatically booked us on a flight from Boston to Dublin the day before without ever contacting us beforehand. Additionally, we now have a full day and night in Dublin before our flight to Pisa. This means we need to book a hotel for the night that was never supposed to be part of our itinerary, pay for meals, taxis, etc. and it's entirely because Aer Lingus canceled a flight that we had already booked. When we spoke to an agent about getting the costs of our accommodations covered by the company, the agent refused. In the past I had nothing but positive experiences flying with Aer Lingus. Unfortunately, this entire debacle has ruined the company's reputation for me and we will undoubtedly never fly with Aer Lingus again. From canceling flights with no notice, to customer service agents being completely unreachable for days at a time, to the complete lack of courtesy in helping to cover costs we will incur entirely due to Aer Lingus's mistakes - this has been a case study in terrible customer relations. read more

I just took four Aer Lingus flights--Boston to Dublin, Dublin to Milan, Milan to Dublin and (you guessed it) Dublin to Boston. The short leg flights were okay. Just two hours long although I must say we didn't see much of the crew and I was surprised that the only refreshment available on board had to be purchased. But that's okay. The long haul legs were another story. Starting with the incredibly disorganized "mob boarding" plan in Boston, there is just something unprofessional about this airline. The flight crew on the outbound leg was basically quite grumpy and unfriendly. I had pre-ordered a vegetarian special meal with an allergy requirement. They got the allergy thing, but not the veg part and I was presented with a hunk of chicken, which the flight attendant said she thought was "Just a bit of tofu." When I convinced her it was not by breaking it up for inspection, I was offered cheese and crackers. Returning, I had called to AGAIN (this was the third time) make sure I got a suitable dinner. Well, they had one, but I heard them give it to the woman behind me. I had to explain to her that she had my food and get it back. But that's the small stuff. The big stuff is all about the unprofessional behavior of the flight attendants. I had NO confidence that if anything went wrong during the flight, they would take care of the passengers. They talked among themselves about their personal lives constantly. Even while, for example, serving drinks or food. Both flights. On the return flight, a flight attendant came with a big pink bag of blankets, tossed the bag into the corner near her jump seat (I was in the Emergency row, facing that seat), ripped the bag open and said not one word to anyone. My daughter and I got some blankets because we were cold. But as the flight attendants passed the bag, they picked up any trash from the floor and tossed it into the bag, so before long, you could not tell it had blankets. Incidentally, no hot drinks available in the first round of service. I was told that was for later. I had a cold and all I wanted was hot tea. Dinner trays stayed around way too long. On the return leg, the promised "afternoon tea service" which we were told would occur about an hour and a half before landing was delayed and was just basically thrown at us. That's because the entire crew disappeared for the whole middle of the flight and congregated in the front of the aircraft. I don't know what they were doing, but one attendant came back and took her suitcase down from the overhead, put it down in the aisle and rooted around for her camera, which she took and returned to the apparent fun at the front of the plane. Later, just as we were on final descent, she also got her case and put it on her jump seat, which I was sitting opposite, during our approach. How's that for safe? No pillows allowed but I have a loose full-sized carry-on suitcase facing me. She returned, opened the case, and began moving things between her suitcase on the seat, and her purse on the ledge in front of the emergency exit. The phone rang for the final check, which she claimed she was doing, but in reality, she held the phone with her shoulder and continued to sort her belongings. Since I was in an emergency exit seat, I was not allowed to have any items down during take off or landing--which is understandable and just fine. But she never noticed that I had accidentally left my water bottle on the floor. Just like the flight attendant on the way out failed to notice that the seat in front of me was reclined during landing. after we landed, there was no attention from the crew. In fact, suitcase woman and another attendant got into the space between the two bulkhead walls, so no one from our end of the plane could cross to the side that was exiting. They talked about the new wallet one of them had, how to clean the bathtub, and other critical, flight-related matters. Yup--first four Aer Lingus flights. And my last. read more

While attempting to travel back from Paris to the United States through Dublin on 24 September 2016, our flight 521 on Aer Lingus was cancelled. The Aer Lingus staff at CDG airport in Paris were not helpful in getting us on an alternative flight and instructed all passengers to "find their own ways home as no other flights to Dublin existed." My wife and I were forced to pay over $3000 to fly American Airlines home from Paris to Orlando (through Charlotte) on 24 September due to this operational issue with Aer Lingus. To add insult to injury, we were then charged $1200 for our flight from Dublin to Orlando, a flight we could not get on due to the first connecting flight being cancelled, for a business class upgrade. On 24 September while sitting in the Charlotte airport, I called Aer Lingus to discuss our level of dissatisfaction with these flights and the unwillingness for Aer Lingus employees in Paris to help with our return flights. It is now almost 30 days later and with daily calls to Aer Lingus customer support, I cannot get anyone to speak with us about our refund. Worst airline customer service on this planet!!!! read more

I am waiting on hold (60 minutes so far) to reschedule my flight which was cancelled today. This is a common occurance with Aer Lingus. I now have to wait till Friday, if I can get on the plane) as AE only flies out of Boston to Shannon 3x per week. In a city filled with millions of Irish, in a country that desperately needs tourism dollars, on a flight path that takes you over Shannon to the daily Dublin flight(s), AE only flies 3 times per week from BOS to SNN. And that is in the summer! In the winter there are no direct flights. Why Massport does not take their landing rights away from them and sell them to Ryan Air is beyond me. read more

Most of the bad reviews here seem like inexperienced travelers not understanding what they were getting into. First of all, I booked round trip tickets from Washington Dulles to Amsterdam on Aer Lingus for $400 through priceline.com. This is really cheap so I was not going to complain about a 5 hour layover in Dublin (5am to 10am). The ASL Airlines Ireland 757 that was operating for Aer Lingus was not the nicest inside. My seat cushion was not attached to my seat, and the plastic covers on the armrests were falling off. However, the crew was professional and courteous so it didn't bother me that the interior looked like it was from 1998 (EI-LBT is the aircraft I flew on IAD-DUB and DUB-IAD on the way home; I was in row 30 on the way there and row 8 on the way home. The front of the plane was a bit nicer.) Upon my arrival to Dublin, having 5 hours to find EI604, I quickly went to the gate for EI602 which was leaving at 6:10am. I kindly asked the gate agent if there was room for me to board the earlier flight. After waiting for about 15 minutes, the gate agent allowed me to board the early flight thus avoiding a 5 hour layover. This was complimentary and much appreciated. I arrived in Amsterdam at 9am instead of 1pm and to top it off, a bit of luck, I found 5 euros on the floor in Schiphol when I got off the plane. Not bad. As for the complaints about no free wine, I did research before I booked and knew that before I left. Do research before booking and you won't be let down by the little things. Minus one star for the beat up interior on the 757, but the plane by no means felt unsafe and the crews and the gate agent in Dublin were awesome. The Aer Lingus A320 I flew on from DUB-AMS and AMS-DUB was much nicer inside and was operated by Aer Lingus, not a contractor. Also, my booking was through British Airways and I could not choose seats online, I had to ask at the airport. Online check-in was not as good as other airlines (United is the best in my opinion). read more

I booked my flight in August 2015(9 months before my flight).. Called and paid $250 to upgrade to exit/window seat. I called twice to make sure everything was good to go. On the way to Dublin I got a great window/exit seat, very happy with the flight. On the way back however I checked in, asked if I had a window/exit as I had paid extra for it was told yes, then promptly sat in a regular MIDDLE seat!!! My worst nightmare.. I have to be able to look out the window, or I panic.. 7 of the most miserable hours. The flight attendants were basically absent, they bought us one drink and a meal, left our empty meal dishes with us over an hour!! Only came around for trash once the whole 7 hours. The bathrooms stayed backed up and long lines the whole trip because the plane was too small for the number of passengers. It was horrible. Not sure why so much difference in the flight going and coming back. Never again after paying $250 to sit in a middle seat. read more

We booked these flights because they were a good price - we quickly learned you get what you pay for. The customer service is horrible!! We had an emergency come up and needed to change the flights.
