The range layout is great, and overall I've liked my experiences there. However, during my recent visit, there was an incident with a range master (James) that management should address. My friend and I briefly stepped over to a table area where another guest was showing us a shotgun he had purchased earlier that day. This was not during a ceasefire period, and no one was downrange. The firearm remained inside the bag the entire time. He did not pick it up, manipulate it, or handle it -- he simply unzipped the bag slightly to show it and intended to zip it back up. At that point, James approached yelling loudly about opening the bag. I fully respect strict enforcement of safety rules -- ranges should be strict. If there is a policy about not unzipping cases at the tables, that's completely fine. But the tone and level of aggression did not match the situation. After that, he continued staring at us and pointing us out to other staff members, which made us uncomfortable enough to end our session early. In an environment involving firearms, professionalism, composure, and emotional control are essential. Being yelled at and then singled out creates unnecessary tension. After this experience, I looked through other reviews and noticed similar feedback about overly aggressive communication from staff. That suggests this may not be an isolated incident and is something management should take seriously. This review is not about being corrected -- it's about how corrections are delivered. Authority in a safety role requires calm, measured communication. If this style of interaction is consistent, I strongly encourage management to evaluate whether this individual is well-suited for a customer-facing safety position. Staff demeanor directly affects the safety atmosphere of the range. When we spoke to the front counter staff (including Carmen), they were professional, took our concerns seriously, and encouraged us to share feedback so management would be aware. I appreciated that. I'm rating this two stars because staff conduct matters in an environment like this. That said, I do plan to return because overall I really like this range. Since my first purchase, I've returned for a rifle with a fixed mag, which I learned before picking up I could have converted to "featureless", so I could use replaceable mags. I asked Ramiro about this, and that's how I learned Ramiro is an armorer, and he walked me through the conversion. He sold me what I later found was the best featureless grip handle on the market, and then he completed the conversion for free with my purchase of the grip handle, and my 2 new replaceable mags. I've really appreciated Ramiro's advice, insights, and the personal experience Ramiro has shared with me , which has all turned out to be valid and true. I have the bruises to prove it. I wanted a KSG. That's how I found GD. Thats how I met Ramiro. He didn't lie to me. He warned me about the recoil on a pump action shotgun like the KSG. I said I'd get used to it. He asked if I was sure. I said "I have to." So not only did he sell me a KSG, he stopped me from getting the scratched unit I was looking at, and got me a blemish-free KSG. As a newbie with no mentor to walk me into this world, I was willing to just buy whatever a knowledgeable salesman would sell me, simply accepting that a scratch was just how firearms sales can sometimes be--but Ramiro didn't let that happen. Ramiro really has been a great guide. He helped me pick my first 9mm--S&W M&P 2.0-and it's such a great firearm. It's solid. Reliable. Accurate. Comfortable. Looks cool. Comes with switchable grips. I bought Trijicon night sights on Amazon, and took over a month to make my way to GD for the install, only to find I had bought sights for the wrong S&W 9mm. Since it had been over 30 days, I couldn't return them, but Ramiro not only found me an alternative option (Ameriglo optic compatible GRM tritium) night sights--but also included the install with the purchase. I love my new Ameriglo night sights on my M&P 2.0 9mm! What a difference. And great bang for your buck. And they are optic-ready sights, so I can add the red dot later on. I appreciated being guided so knowledgeably. I follow Ramiro's lead confidently. And while I was there doing this, Ramiro asks me if I had with me the adapters that came with the streamlight I had on my 9mm, because he was offering to fix the streamlight I improperly installed on my 9mm (which was sticking out too far). I did not have them, so he offered to fix it for me if I just brought the adapters. I really appreciated Ramiro's offer, but more importantly I appreciated him pointing out to me my improper installation. I soon realized I could fix it myself. I've since fixed it, and I have yet again Ramiro to thank. To be clear, every single rep at GD has been helpful and totally professional. I've really appreciated the service I've received. Alonso, Danny, Jerry, Sherri, Alex all super helpful professionals. Alonso and Danny both remembered my name, which is shocking because this place is popular. I love love love Guns Direct. The guy at the counter who was very not welcoming said utility bill is not acceptable and it must be government issued. I explained to him that I was already approved of address change with doj and I'm only buying ammo. He still said no so I had to just walk out of there. I went to 2 other stores in the area after which both said it's no problem with gas bill to buy ammo. So I ended up buying them at the second store since first store didn't have any 9mm. His expertise in the field is apparent immediately, and he has a resume that is hard to beat. But that's half of it. He's a great teacher who has the master-level talent of identifying your skill level, correcting mistakes, and patiently pushing you to a higher level than you thought was possible in yourself. And you can double everything I said about CCW training. A few weeks later, I received an email notice that the rifle had arrived at Guns LA, and I drove over to go through the transfer drill. They buzzed me right in, I was greeted by a couple of the guys, and they handled everything right away. Typical easy California transfer: pages of paperwork, produce CDL, provide DNA sample, raise your right hand and swear you are not a communist or a Klingon, take a polygraph...the usual drill. Because they have a highly Yelp rated gunsmith, I handed them the Leopold scope and mounting rings I had purchased and asked them to mount it (yeah...as if I could have mounted it). No problemo. Ten long days later, I returned (and yes, the DROS paperwork stamps the exact minute from the ten days you started the process and you are damn RIGHT I was there at the exact minute to accept my rifle). They gave me a break on the price of mounting the scope since I did the transfer paperwork there, which was generous and unexpected. Everything was perfect. Although I live in Pasadena, and there are closer gun shops, I would absolutely go to these guys again. Thumbs up and thank you!

Not only did he inspect and fix my firearm, but he also spent time teaching me how to properly use my Holosun sight and gave me helpful tips to improve my shooting.
