I received on my Internet an invitation to go to defense practice organization for a 1 hour Presentation on how to shoot weapons, including high powered weapons and learn about self defense. I thought that sounds like a lot of fun. So I called the number and was able to secure an appointment a week later and received several emails during that week. Asking me to check off and sign a waiver and also told I could invite a friend. I decided to invite my best friend and later. We decided what day we could go and signed up. We got there a few minutes early and this place was really nice in burbank right off the five freeway near bueno vista avenue and found a parking spot and went in to the front where we were greeted by a receptionist who had us fill out the waiver again and check all the boxes and sign it, and then we were good to go. A very large man came out and said he was our trainer.And his name was robert, and he was an ex army man who had been stationed overseas and had.I've been in many real life.Dangerous situations in combat. He showed us many different training rooms, where he explained that they don't use real guns with real bullets, but they use laser guns or bullets that were round.And made of rubber. Different rooms taught different types of training. Including learning self defense techniques where people can basically learn many types of moves that they can make if somebody were to be attacking them.And they did not have a weapon or didn't want to start by using a weapon. He then took us into our own private training room and explained different laws and different techniques of how you should respond in Different scenarios and then put on videos for us to practice with. But the first thing he did was show us a target and had us use laser guns to aim and fire at a target. He taught us how to get a gun out of our holster properly.And how to aim and shoot and first in a relaxed situation.And then in a real life type scenario with a video in front of us, we were ask to respond as if it were a real life situation. All in all we both learned a lot. How to fun time? And at the very end, we were offered a membership for twelve months.Although it was a little expensive for our pocket books, it was tempting.And if I were maybe thirty years younger, I probably would have gone for it kind of like a gym membership. In any event, it was a great experience. And fun, and we learned a lot about the laws. And how you can defend yourself. And when you can shoot, and when you cannot shoot. So I do think it was worth the hour-long training just to learn that. And had a fun time, so I strongly recommend it, and I will take a picture of Roberts business card. So, if you would like to go to your 1 hour training session, you might call them up and see if you can't at least go. And check it out, like I did. And then you may decide you want to do it twice a month for a year, or longer. read more

My boyfriend and I signed up for a free introductory session at United Defense Tactical recently, and I'm really glad I did. The class was about an 90 minutes long (30 minutes longer than advertised, but it didn't matter because it was an excellent introduction ) and took place using a simulator with a laser training firearm. We went through different target exercises, including one that simulated a potential armed encounter, which definitely got my attention. There were 3 of us in the classroom setting and each of us had a different simulated experience. Our instructor and representative for United Defense Tactical , Spike, was an excellent teacher--calm, clear, and very concise in his guidance. After my first few attempts, he gave me specific feedback that helped me better understand how to improve my reaction time and decision-making. I also really appreciated how knowledgeable he is about California laws, especially when it comes to when it's appropriate to engage and when it's not. What stood out most is how important proper training is before even thinking about purchasing a firearm. It made me realize that responsibility and awareness come first. They offer several membership options that gives you access to continued training, which is a meaningful investment if you're serious about learning how to protect yourself responsibly. I also like that they incorporate hand-to-hand training into their program. What an amazing location! I have been signed up for a few months and I feel like its money well spend. I've learned so much from my classes that I'm feeling more and more confident with my firearm each class. My shooting has improved so much and learning about the real world application in case of any situation is so invaluable! All the instructors have so much experience and knowledge it makes you feel confident learning from them in the classes. They are always correcting form and firearm grip to make sure every student keeps improving. Well, before I started practice at this place , I was scared that this was one of the bad ones but after I met with instructor spike and he walked me down through the courses and I ended up taking core membership cause I feels like it is worth it at some point. Not only they offer the firearm classes but also they offer a lot of martial arts programs and basic self defense. 1. Dry firearm practice with laser technology [which will be pretty useful when you will have to use ur pew pew in real life , all the drills will be get into your muscle memory and come to life) 2. Range [shoot house] Especially it is a scenario based training on how to defense against home invaders or active shooter when it comes down to real sh*t . 3. Workshop They also offer a lot of workshop and it is unlimited credits for that if you are signed up for a core membership which I think it is definitely worth it since they have a lot of cool stuffs there. 4. Self defense trainings They have jujitsu, Krav maga, and combat conditioning work out classes which are also useful when it comes to close quarters combat training. Overall, I think even tho you are a guy and for real, you should join And you will also see a bunch of moms and girls who are also serious about their self defense and improve their shooting skills . But also on one thing, you don't have to worry about being taught in the same with them because the instructor are really skilled enough to have to work on yourself depending on your current skill level of firearms and marksmanship. Let's face it. For a long time Los Angeles is not the LA we fell in love with. Every day it seems like another home invasion in the SFV. My neighbors being murdered and left for days is what finally did it for me. Like many, I responded to an Instagram ad for a women's self defense and firearms training, not knowing what to expect. I arrived to a newly outfitted facility that was state of the art. The smell of paint was in the air and drywall dust tracked a floor as my instructor, Paul, put me through my first simulator tests with an electronic pistol. I knew immediately from the training and life experience that he and many have here, that this was the place I needed to be to gain the skills, senses of awareness and defensive strategies to defend my life and my family. It's been a month because I waited to write this and I am thrilled with the seriousness, care and attention each instructor gives every student and the pointers on for and performance are invaluable. Every other student zI've met and chatted with has been equally happy with this facility. The classes are small and focused- up to 4 people in a group. Instructors are highly experienced ex military and LEOs with real life situations and scenarios. I am looking forward to the other classes beyond firearms too. I hope I never need to use these skills, but I feel confident that I am becoming well trained and proficient in both assessing threats and strategizing how and when to neutralize them. This is by far the best investment I have made for myself. I took the free training/intro class with Spike and it opened my eyes to the reality of what certain situations can turn into with lack of knowledge. The simulation that was presented to me really resonated with me; I instantly knew I HAD to sign up! I've been a member with this training center since November of 2025 and am so thankful for all the knowledge that has been instilled in me. The staff are ALL absolutely wonderful!! They truly make you feel like you're part of a family. This training center is practically my second home! Of course, you get what you put in, and there is ALWAYS room for growth. Because of the weapons and jiu-jitsu training alone, I am more confident in my ability to defend myself and am a lot more knowledged of the legalities of self-defense as well. They also offer combat conditioning (workout to build/sustain your physical endurance), CQC (close quarter combat training), live range training, and workshops to advance your knowledge in weapons, the law, and much more. Not to mention, they also provide the hours of training needed if you are wishing to obtain your CCW. I cannot urge people enough to just give it a chance, come by the training center and see what it can offer you. I registered for a free introductory session at United Defense Tactical on Sunday. The class was an hour long in a simulator with a laser "gun" in a variety of target training, and one with a potential armed encounter. The instructor Spike was very a good and concise teacher, and gave really good instruction after my first tries, and how to improve my reaction and decision making skills. What's great is that he knows the specific of laws in California when engaging in armed encounters, and when NOT to. I think if one is considering purchasing a weapon, I think training properly to use it is paramount before buying one. I think the payments per month(around 200) to have access and training is a good investment if one intends to arm themselves. They also have hand-to-hand training as part of the curriculum. I recommend seeing if you can get the free 1 hour course to see if this is for you. When my finances allow I would consider this if I decide I want to arm myself. read more

The combined experiences mixed with the combat conditioning courses, Brazilian jui-jitsu and close quarter combat training provide an all-around defense protocol designed to provide the average citizen with the necessary tools to defend themselves and loved ones in high risk situations. Most importantly, firearms discipline with the ability to deescalate is the first primary lesson (how to avoid using the firearm as a primary use tool). If you're interested in leveling up your skill level when it comes to to self defense shooting or brand new to the firearm game this is the place. They have a well rounded curriculum when it comes to self defense and education including hand to hand jujitsu and workshops. We were offered a free trial course which my wife and I did with one of their trainers, Spike. This is a brand new facility and they had only been open for two days. There's an easy & free street parking in front of the facility. The receptionists were very nice and the facility is incredibly clean as it's brand new. The training was in a big room with a floor to ceiling simulator and Glock 17 laser training guns in a holster for appendix carry. The simulator training with Spike was truly outstanding and he discussed defensive scenarios where we might have to stop someone with a firearm, in addition to the legal ramifications, and also what options were possible in those kinds of seriously dangerous situations. Halfway through the training, I already decided I was going to sign up and didn't even know what the monthly costs would be. At the end of the training, they simply asked us if this is the kind of training we wanted to do, and if so, we would go into an office to discuss different packages and pricing, and if not, they were simply going to thank us for our time and hoped that we learned something useful. The membership includes weekly simulator training, and unlimited self-defense training, which is going to be added as they develop the facility. We've since done our first full training session with them and are looking forward to training again today. We're very much looking forward to training in their self-defense classes as well once they get added. It's unfortunate that the reality is that we live in LA and that fentanyl laced crystal methamphetamine usage is driving so many people to violent acts of desperation. My wife and I have a family and it is our responsibility to make sure that we are able to safely get home and to be able to protect our family in the case of a home invasion. I'm grateful that United defense tactical is going to provide safe and appropriate training. I was belittled by an instructor named Richard there on 4 occasions, twice as a student himself in a Firearms Familiarization Course and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and twice as a teacher of the Combat Conditioning course. The managemer Jason did nothing. I had also mentioned to Jason several times that they were not ADA compliant in the gym area because there were never enough mats for disabled people to use. He said that he didn't have the Booker l money to buy more mats, and I looked up the price so he was just never willing to come up to code legally. He also never installed a drinking fountain and his instructions would say we just had to bring out own water. The woman at the front Lorraina even yelled at me my first couple times there for going in the break room to get water after i was told I could by Jason. He never reprimanded her on that and she continued to have an attitude with me on occasion that I dealt with graciously but did not need to deal with as a paying customer. Their first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu person got bloody in training twice which was unhygienic and when I mentioned that I didn't think that this was a very good teacher Jason blew my of saying you each his own but when others complained he replaced him. There was clear discriminatory practices there. Jason the manager was dismissive and unapologetic in his response to my email to the demeaning unprofessional behavior of their employee in front of other students. He was gaslighting in the final email I sent him, the first reporting the unprofessional behavior, the second notifing him that I removed myself from the classes that Richard taught as a result of him verbally attacking me for the fourth time, the third letting him know that I am transferring my membership as a result of the inappropriate demeanor of his employees and his lack of response. Rather than saying he was sorry he states that after speaking with staff and other members he agrees that they are not a good fit for me, never acknowledging or apologizing for the ABHORRENT behavior of his staff. Their best teacher Paul has left for better pasteurs. read more

I have been taught many ideas, tips, and details about positioning myself during hands-on combat training, such as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or CCW, along with gun training like Green Team and UDT Range with real-life scenarios that I get to practice for self-defense.
