My car was having issues with the catalytic converter, Mike worked his magic and figured out 1 of my O2 sensors went out. Me and my finance were asking about Pumpkin Patches to visit and Mike referred us to a local winery that had a pumpkin patch. Got to see some pig races, train ride and overall great experience. I have to say,,, I've been seeing Josh and his crew for so many years now. I have worked on my past cars and usually know what he is talking about when I bring my car in, I know 'round about what is wrong when I bring one of my cars in. His prefessionalism is fantastic. I have sent my mother-in-law, one of my nieces and a couple of my sisters to see Josh when they moved into the area. He is quite familiar with their cars at this point and knows that they will call me if they have any concerns for the work needing to be done. Josh has never complained about this and works with them on repairs that they may not be able to afford right away (shows them what is in most need of repair). I've brought my old Nissan Z that I had for so many years, our old family Dodge Durango, our mini van and my Infiniti in for service. I have seen other shops here in Temecula before I found Josh and I always had reservations about going back to these guys. Whenever I have a problem that I can't fix, Josh is the first and only technician I will call. All the guys that work with him in the shop are great as well. Life saver twice !! I have a 12 year old Toyota and have never had problems until recently. I used to just get everything done at the dealer until I got a quote to repair my air conditioner for 1800$. I shopped around and found two aaa places that gave me around 800$ quote. One was booked for a week and Mike at advantage. I had to leave the next day to go to Phoenix with 110 degrees weather and Mike promised he would get it done the same day for $800!! I got my car back the next morning in time to leave and had a wonderful cool car :) it's still cool and working great! 6 weeks later my car failed the Smog test because my check engine light was on for my cracked gas cap. I replaced it myself but couldn't get the light off again. Mike went back and forth with my car to the smog check station and figured out what else needed to be done. He fixed it and even brought my car to get it smogged. Here is here to help and he cares. So far it has been a blessing that my dad found him and kept telling me to go and talk to Mike. Finding a new mechanic is like finding a new dentist. Until you need one (usually at just the wrong time) you never know and how do you look. Our family fleet has been in the area and used several shops around, some for years. We were referred to Advantage and now a couple years later, he's the only shop we use. We go there for our regular maintenance and of course the emergency repairs that no one wants to deal with. They make it easy and keep us in the loop on the time and costs. I was in the auto repair biz many years ago so I know a busy shop can be difficult to keep every customer happy, but the guys at Advantage go the extra mile and get us back in our cars with as little fuss as possible. my mom has been taking her cars to Mike for years. My father passed away and she was going to be selling a truck. She had a buyer that really wanted the truck. She took it to Mike's shop to do a couple of fixes and told Mike she was selling it, but Mike begged her not to sell to him. He said he had a customer that really needed the truck and he was helping her out. He had the cash and she sold it to Mike. My mom saw the truck today. Mike sold it to the guy my mom was going to sell it to originally for 2500 more than my mom offered the guy. He said Mike sold it to him. Angered...My mom called Mike and asked him how "she" liked the truck and he lied to her again. He said she loved it. He new the truck was worth more and made up a story to get my mom to sell to him. If Mike was honest he would have told her not to sell for so low. Instead he bumped it up his offer price slightly then resold it for a lot more taking advantage of a long time customer. Pretty sad. think twice about using him. I don't think he ever thought he would have got caught....I'm sure Karma will keep returning the favor MIKE! read more

We have been taking our cars, happily, to Advantage Automotive for years. I can remember one instance where I took my car to a local big-name shop and had something diagnosed. They told me I needed struts and the cost would be a couple thousand! I then took it to Advantage Automotive and they said I didn't need struts at all and that the problem was being caused by another issue. After a couple hundred dollars, the problem was fixed. I appreciate Advantage Automotive's honesty and integrity. I take my car there for a check up a couple times a year, needed or not. Their reliable mechanics and the conscientiousness of the owner, Josh Tomlin, gives me peace of mind throughout the year. The best I can say about Advantage is DON'T!!! I have a C5 corvette that had a harmonic balancer wobble. So it needed to be replaced. I called spoke to Mike the owner asked if they were familiar with the job. Oh yes he says!So I drop the car off. Told them that the factory manuals were in the passenger seat with the pages bookmarked for the job to be done right. He calls me an hour or so later tells me the car needs upper and lower pan gaskets. So I go back to the shop look and there is a little bit of oil on the pan add 320.00 dollars. I take the car home it was vibrating like crazy. I look under the hood and find the power steering cooler fins all bent up and wires not put back in their guide clamps. EBCM not plugged in all the way.Real poor workmanship! Then I find out they didn't follow the proper procedure when changing the harmonic balancer. This threw my engine out of balance. Took car back to have a more expensive balancer put on. They didn't do the second balancer right it fell off the end of the crankshaft and damaged the end of the crank and the new seal. They got the balancer back on without changing the seal. Now car has an oil leak out of crank,seal car still has vibration! I made my living 12 years as an auto mechanic. Don't take your car here!!!! read more

Advantage Automotive is absolutely crooked!! Mike is a con man that lies!!! I was told by Mike that the bottom end of my motor went out and that I could have it rebuilt or put a new motor in. Mike recommended a new motor because I had 230,000 miles on my truck. I said ok. Mike shopped around and said he found a Jasper motor for $2500 but it was a remanufactured motor. He also said that Paradise Chevrolet had a brand new motor from the crate for $3800 and that was my best option. I called Chevy to check on the price to make sure I wasn't getting screwed. Chevy confirmed the price. I called Mike and said yes get the motor from Chevy and put it in. 2 week go by and my truck is finally done and I pick it up. I ask Mile if it is a new motor because it doesn't look like one and Mike says yes it is. I have the motor checked out and its not a new Chevy motor. I call Mike 2 days after I pick up my truck and ask him if it is a new Chevy motor and he says yes but he didn't buy it from Paradise. I told Mike no its not, I personally talked to Jasper and they told me they sold you the motor and it matches my VIN number and I have the email from Jasper. Mike was lost for words. He told me he wants to make it right. I call Mike the next day and he keeps saying I want to make it right so I tell him take the $6150 I gave you and meet me at Paradise Chevrolet and they will put in my new motor and I will pay the difference. Mike says he needs more time and that we can figure this out. I tell him no I cant trust him anymore. Also, I spent $1000 on my truck in his shop 2 months prior. Also, Mike Petric is the sole owner of Advantage Automotive but will tell you that he is partners with Josh. Anybody knows Josh's last name please respond to this. The clutch went out in my car and i made the mistake of taking it to the dealer first to find out how much it would cost to get repaired. $120 dollars later (diagnotic fee), they quoted me almost $1800. I called Advantage Automotive at the recomendationof a close friend, and I'm so glad I did. They saved me almost $300. I've been going to this shop for over ten years and have watched it decline in service and helpful staff. I've had two oxogen sensors that have been "replaced" that still make the engine light go on. The few oil changes I've had there oil is spilt on my car and the drain screw was loos and leaking. And most recently I had my breaks and rotors done there and had nothing but problems with them. I took my car back the first time and was givin new break pads because the first ones were contaminated. Then he changes them and I still have problems. The make noise they grind I've takin it back again since and was simply told there is nothing wrong. Now 8 months later I need new rotors and break pads again. When I called to explain the station the gentlemen in the phone even agreed with me saying they should of lasted longer. Bottom line don't take your car here ! And to top it off he was rude to me one the phone. Called me a 20 year old punk. Not a business I will support !!! read more
