We just had one of the best contracting experiences in the 40 years in our home. On October 16,…read more2019, we contracted Kyle Electric to install the wiring for a portable generator both inside and outside our home. Their electrician named Jack, had grown up with electrical knowledge gained in his family. He was extremely knowledgeable, professional and efficient. The entire experience rates an A +. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! UNETHICAL AND DISHONEST. Please read before calling them. First, I am all…read moreabout businesses being in business to make money. I also understand professional electricians are expensive especially on weekends. HOWEVER, my daughter and future son-in-law bought their first home, in Carroll Co. They briefly lost power one evening. A week later lost power again BEFORE a storm on a Saturday afternoon. By Sunday morning still no power. Could not reach anyone at the power company to confirm it was a power outage. ALL surrounding neighbors had power. So being in the home only 2 weeks and as first time home buyers, they worried there may be an issue with the electrical in the house so called Tim Kyle electric. They sent our 2 people. Who quickly assessed the issues was a power outage from Potomac Edison. Quick service call right? Wrong, they proceeded to write up an estimate for a very expensive generator and charged them $600 for the 10 minutes it took to figure out there was no power coming into the house!!!!!!!!! Oh, and that was with a first responders discount! Just to tell them it was an issue with the power company! Despicable. It was a Sunday morning in June, not like it was Christmas Day. I will let everyone I know in Carroll Co. know about how they took advantage of young first time home owners. Eventually this business approach will catch up to them and ruin their questionable 5 Star google reviews. I think every parent can put themselves in my shoes and would be appalled as well.

Update: Farnen & Dermer could not or would not fix my AC system…read more I had it fixed by different company for $410! No sales pitch! No attempt to sell me new units/systems.

If I could give this company zero stars I would. A routine maintenance check quickly turned into…read morewhat felt like a sales pitch - and ultimately a scam directed at a single mom who maybe didn't know any better. I was told my 2019 unit needed a replaced compressor and I was given an astronomical quote for the compressor of $9,000. I consulted with two other companies, and they stated that a new compressor (if needed) would be around $2,000+. The technician then suggested I should "just replace the entire unit" for $13,500 claiming it would be under warranty unlike the quoted $9,000 for a new compressor. What makes this even more concerning is that this company installed the unit in 2019 with previous owners and by 2026 they were already recommending replacing the entire system! After having other HVAC professionals look at the system, it became clear the compressor did not need to be replaced at all and was a misdiagnosis by the technician. To make matters worse, the technician left the equipment area messy and did not properly or safely reconnect part of the unit, both inside and outside. I had even sat out a new air filter for the technician to replace during this maintenance visit, and he instead he sat the dirty one outside of the unit. He never replaced the air filter with either the dirty/old one or put in the new one that I had set out and told him about. I would strongly recommend not working with this company unless you are interested in a scam, sales pitch, and unethical work.
