As mentioned, because so many frequent this course the range balls are in bad shape at times. Although my last visit the range balls were good as I didn't find a majorly scuffed up one. Range is lit halfway with targets and distance. This alone I would probably give 3 stars. Gil makes up for the rest. I've been through a few instructors who just didn't do it for me let alone help me drop my scores. When I met Gil I constantly shot in the 100's. After about a little over 1.5 years of practice and drills I'm constantly shooting in the 80's and taking my friends monies. Gil has provided me with mental strength for my game and awesome alignment and contact drills that I can take with me anywhere. I would suggest if you are looking for help this is your place and Gil can sort you out. Don't be afraid to step into a lesson atmosphere and learn a little. Enjoy the game!

My husband and I booked a tee time at San Marcos Golf Course on Father's Day weekend. We chose an…read more11:00 AM tee time, which was significantly cheaper than the early morning tee times because it's usually in the 100+ degrees by then. We're used to it and we bring lots of cooling towels. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The driving range was limited to irons only during our visit, not sure why. The course was in great shape for the most part and the pace of play was ideal. There was no one in front of us or behind us pretty much the entire time. Food from the restaurant was decent. They provided a small "cooler" which is more like a small lunch bag for the drinks. The golf carts don't have coolers, which isn't a deal breaker, but a bit inconvenient especially since the lunch bag they gave us leaked and there wasn't a good spot for it in the cart. Regardless, we had a nice experience. We played all 18 holes and are excited to play again in the future!

Unlike many of the reviews I've seen, my experience was quite the opposite, in the best way. The course was in excellent condition, with some of the best greens I've ever played on in Arizona. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the pace of play was just right. We were never rushed from behind or held up by the group in front. The beer was cold, the food was hot, and honestly, I have no complaints. It was an amazing time from start to finish.

Prizes were underwhelming at best. A bag tag looks like a child made at elementary school, a free round of golf in these conditions (couldn't pay me to play it again), and one of their own head covers. Utilize your vendors from golf brands. Other courses offering hundreds of dollars, clubs, etc for lesser tournament registration fees. You offer what seems to be after thoughts to be cheap. Full disclosure - I had swung a golf club maybe 2 times in my life before taking lessons. I am SO glad that I took lessons with Jim. He is very knowledgeable about the sport, but takes time to really understand you and works with you in the best method it takes for you to learn. You constantly see him writing notes and taking videos of your lessons (he also shares the videos with you after - self reflection and analysis is important!) and his feedback always makes me improve and feel better about my golf game. He truly caters the lesson to your needs and your abilities. He took time to really explain everything to me and answer all my (probably silly) questions and never made me feel dumb about not knowing golf terms or rules.
