After a road trip my battery light came on the dashboard so as soon as I got home I called around for places that have used batteries since I plan on getting another car very soon I didn't want to invest more money than necessary. The lady who answered the phone was extremely kind and helpful but after giving my information she said there's 2 types of batteries that should work but since my car is an Audi 2008 they don't know if they would be able to swap them out because it may be connected to the system but they wanted me to bring it in the following day since they were closing in 15 minutes. I head over as soon as they open, missing work to get there and speak to some of the guys inside and they immediately told me they couldn't work on Audi's 2006 and newer and I asked them why didn't you give me this information over the phone before wasting my time getting here. They apologized but my car already died again, so I needed them to jumpstart it for me. It took 2 guys and 3 different battery jumpers they started with the small, medium and then brought out the big boy it took about 15 minutes for them to finally jump my car. I wanted to make it back home to regroup and call around instead of driving blind because most shops did not open until 8am and it was 7am. I ended up getting stranded on a busy street, in a Turning lane with construction right across from me and even though I reached out to triple A they didn't get to me until 11:30, meaning I sat there for 4 1/2 hrs which could've been completely avoided if the staff was knowledgeable enough to let potential customers know what the capabilities and limitations are. Not only that once I had it towed to another shop who said they can install the battery but I'd have to bring one. I planned on coming back to purchase the battery but once the tow driver and mechanic both tried to jump my battery they instantly could tell it was my alternator and not my battery. Meaning I would've purchased a battery and it still wouldn't have worked wasting my money because your employees after spending 15 minutes couldn't tell it wasn't the battery but the other mechanics could tell after one try. I understand other services might not be this businesses speciality or strong suit but if all you know how to do is take batteries out of cars that are older models, and potentially going to be obsolete in the relatively near future then get your skill Game up or hire people who know what they're doing, Like the saying goes Jack of all trades is master of none but better than one. read more

It's been about two months and the car has seldom needed assistance starting to the point that I bought a battery jumper kit that I charge up and keep with me. My adventure started last night when I jumped in my car and it wouldn't start. I called AAA and the Tech came out and my battery needed to be replaced. This morning I started calling around and getting prices and warranty info. Yes, everyone says, "Go to Costco," but dealing with them and the long waits is not worth it. I was starting to get an idea of where a good price would be and then called Advanced Battery Systems and new this was the place because of the price and the 6 year warranty!!! I brought tools to change out the battery there and the clamp was so corroded it actually broke! I was in a little bit of a panic, and went back inside. The magic of the price and warranty had already happened, but then it went into overdrive! The owner, super cool guy, reassured me they could fix it, and they did, with a minimal charge. Excellent. Two years ago, I made the mistake of walking into a Pepboys to get my battery replaced. It cost me $140 for their "five star battery" - a battery that started leaking after 2 years, and got replaced for free, with another battery that started to fail in only three months. Both times, the installation took 1 to 2 hours. I was fed up with my car battery, and looked for something that could be more reliable. I also wanted better service; it was frustrating each time to wait at the Pepboys, and fuss with them over the warranty replacements. Advanced Battery Systems is not a big-box retailer where the employees just install whatever you point to; they are a family business, oriented at familiarizing their customers with different battery technologies, especially AGM. AGM, or Absorbed Glass Mat, Valve-Regulated Lead-Acid batteries, have the lead-acid electrolytes absorbed in thin glass mats, as opposed to simply having flooded plates. They have a higher density of available power, are more resistant to vibration and temperature swings, are not susceptible to catastrophic cell failure, have a significantly lower discharge rate, are much safer to operate, and don't leak acid. My sales agent was very keen in listening to find out more about my car, my driving habits, and problems i've had, to suggest the best battery for me. He gently steered me away from the more popular Optima brand, given recent quality control issues, and introduced me to Odyssey batteries. I got the Odyssey PC-1500, which is one step down from the PC-1700 used in many police fleets. It sounds like overkill, but because these batteries are really built better than the rest, and have been field tested in critical applications, it's probably worth it. The install took 15 minutes. The best part? I got a great price. My quote, with installation, came out to $55 lower than any online retailer. Don't bother going anywhere else, unless you are looking for a conventional battery, in which case Voltec might be the place to be. read more

These guys are amazing. Ricardo didn't try and "sell" me on anything but instead got me a great deal on what I wanted for my Range Rover (which has very extreme requirements for its battery). He was quick and efficient and got me a bought back '08 Odyssey PC2150 31 with warrenty, tested it before my eyes, and installed it for $60 That is seriously one of the best deals I've seen anywhere. Here comes the good part though... The battery weighs 95lbs and at installation the mechanic hit my radiator and clean broke my radiator overflow nozzle off! No worries though, they paid the full price for replacing the ENTIRE radiator, threw the battery in for free, plus offered to drive me home while I left my car. All in all the sales guys and Owner (Steve) are friendly and knowledgable and even though things could have turned into a fist fight (which is immediately what I was gearing up for) they handled the situation honestly and professionally. Great place. Spent a long time with me trying to find batteries that would fit in a used scooter I wanted to get rolling after knee surgery. This is THE place to get a battery! My car wouldn't start, so I brought in my old car battery to these terrific guys. After being given many options, I bought a much better battery for less than half the price of any auto repair store or dealer. The owner and crew are very friendly and helpful. You don't need to know much, because they are the experts and are clearly dedicated to their specialty and customers. With his help, I purchased a high quality battery and a wholesale price. But more impressively and importantly, he helped me install the battery in my car which was not an easy task since it is located hidden away in my trunk in a very intimidating fashion. His staff and mechanics were kind and helpful and let me borrow their tools while I figured out how to install the battery so that I could drive home and avoid the $160 battery installation fees that the nearby mechanics were quoting. Was referred here by Dave Frost Automotive, after one desperate morning when my 2008 Corolla wasn't starting well. Dave called these guys up, told them I needed a new battery, jumped my car, and sent me over there. The technician at Advanced Battery Systems was practically waiting for me on the corner when I pulled up. He had the exact required battery in hand, carrying it almost as a high end waiter would carry out a fine dinner. He got to work on the replacement right away, and performed a full diagnostic to make sure everything was working. I bought two Odyssey 31M PC2150 batteries from this vendor last year. So I'm not one of their large customers - but a customer, nonetheless. True, they do offer the best price on batteries and will price match other competitors, but when it comes to customer care and support - there still a lot to be desired. I did a lot of research online of how to best utilize the deep cycle properties of the 31M-PC2150 batteries in conjunction with a solar panel system, but online research only got me so far. I have a college degree and consider myself fairly savvy - but I'm not a battery expert - I admit that. However, on multiple occasions, I have called or visited this shop to ask simple battery health and maintenance questions and they either seem not to be very knowledgeable about how to properly maintain the odyssey batteries or worse, don't seem interested in helping me. Rather than spend a few minutes troubleshooting my problem, I was told that everything is available on Odyssey's website and I should look it up. What's more confusing is that I spoke with Odyssey directly and their information was different than the information I was able to eek out from Advanced Battery Systems. I bought my batteries here because I wanted to support a local vendor that could also help me should I have any questions with my batteries. I guess I was wrong. read more

Nothing wrong with this place, I'm just a really tough A, so I generally don't give 5* even for places that I really like. I needed a new battery for one of my motorcycles, and had no interest in paying dealer prices. Could have done mail order but I like dealing with someone local in case there is a problem (even though I use a premium brand, I have had an issue with a lemon in the past, and it's a lot easier to address when you have someone to talk to). And, my preference is to buy form an independent business rather than a chain, because I would rather my money go to a real person not a corporate entity. Checking the mfr's list of local outlets I found this place, and decided to check it out. Knowing that the price on these can swing 50% or more depending on where you purchase I called, was quoted a price that wasn't the lowest but only around 10% more than the cheapest online price I could find, which was good enough for me. They had plenty of fresh stock (based on the mfg date label), good Saturday hours, easy parking. What's not to like? Shop local. Give this place a chance when you need a battery. You won't be disappointed. read more

I took my car here almost a year ago to have my battery tested, thinking it needed to be replaced. The owner tested it, told me it would need to be replaced "in maybe 6 months" but not now. All it needed now was a clean up on the ports. He quickly scrubbed the gunk off and covered everything with battery corrosion prevention paint to keep it running well until the battery was truly dead. Well, about a month ago, the battery finally kicked. I brought it back here for replacement and it was fast and friendly! read more

Replaced the batteries on my boat but did not install correctly so no power to critical systems. I reported the problem and they came and checked it. They told me they fixed it but it was not fixed. They told me it was safe to take the boat to Mexico. It was not. I made a special trip down to the boat to check on it and found it was not fixed. I reported the problem again they came again and told me they fixed it. Told me it was safe to take the boat to Mexico. It was not fixed. Eventually they hired an electrician which required a make another trip out to the boat. He showed me the main wire Advanced Battery dropped under the battery and did not connect. They took a lot of my time, put me at risk, and did not make it right. They did pay for the electrician but they took a huge amount of my time for something that should have been simple and done right the first time, (or even the second time). In three trips to the boat, they could not fix it and repeatedly told me it was fixed when it was not. Given that my time has value, using Advanced turned out to be hugely expensive for me. Dangerous to let these guys work on motor vehicles. Prices are good for parts. read more
