Then I placed another order, only to have to cancel that one too because again--they didn't have enough in stock. I like Advance Auto Parts in general because they offer auto parts that we can install/repair ourselves. They do free alternator/battery tests as well as windshield wiper installations for free. The customer service is always hit or miss. I originally walked in asking if they can do a a battery/alternator test. He said yes, that he will be out in a few minutes and asked me to repark in front of the store. It took longer than 10 minutes for him to finally come outside. He did the battery test and said it's fine, but that it may not last much longer. I told him I would rather just have the battery changed and that I have one in the car. He was hesitant to install it in case it was the wrong battery, but I had purchased it from Costco and already knew it was the correct one. There is plenty of parking available, but they do share the lot with Gold's Gym and Dollar Tree (as well as other businesses), so I'm sure it can get busy. I'm giving 3 stars mostly because of the wait time. If I'd known I'd be waiting that long, I would've just gone to the other one on the way to my original destination. read more

I got sold the wrong oil filter for my vehicle. After completing an oil change and starting the car the 4 quarts of new oil I put in poured out onto my driveway. Had to go back to get the correct oil filter. When I asked if there was any possibility to get a discount on the correct oil filter and another jug of oil, the manager told me all she could do is a 5% off discount. I have to bring this to every customers' attention that please be careful while buying a merchandise from the company. I have recently purchased a battery from them, but i was surprised to see the engine light on the dashboard. I first went to this company and asked the reason which they pinpointed on "alternator" and therefore advised me to go to the auto repair. According to the repair shop, i not only have problem in alternator , but the battery was wrong too. Even though they have refunded the battery, but my concern is the biggest expenses I have confronted in the form of towing, car repair expenses and having my car stopped in the middle of the road, My steering wheel was jammed, and everything was extra hot in the car. What if I was burned in the car and /or have collided to another vehicle on the road while driving? What if my speed was fast and what would happen if the car suddenly stopped because of the battery? Your Chantilly VA's team is responsible for my towing and repair expenses. Just because you people are not responsibly running the business and are just concern about money. read more

WOW. SERIOUSLY BLOWN AWAY BY THE STELLAR SERVICE AT THIS LOCATION. Huge shout out to Rodney and Cornelius who went above and beyond for me today! Backstory: my car battery was dead I mean so far gone that jumpstarting it didn't make a difference. Frantic and a total novice at anything car related, I called the store asking for advice on what services they offered and what I could do. I wondered how I could get my battery exchanged without paying the hefty cost of towing my vehicle to them. I was greeted by two very knowledgeable and patient employees who guided me through the phone on how to remove my old battery. Once I got to the store with my old battery, both Rodney and Cornelius helped me carry it in and I was able to purchase a new battery there. If this was an average store with average employees my story would've ended there with me by myself having to figure out a way to install my battery in my car that was still stalled outside my house. BUT these two gentleman offered to drive to my house and help me install my new battery! Cornelius drove the 10 minutes to my house to help me install my battery like it was a walk in the park. These two guys are seriously gems and deserve so much recognition for turning a stressful day into a blessed day. Thank you for your acts of kindness! Usually I've been happy with this establishment but this time I was let down. I usually do online orders and today I went in to get my parts like usual and then straight to my go to mechanic. Today we found out they gave me for the second time in a row the wrong parts for my vehicle, I had to do two trips between here and their parent company carquest and both let me down with what I needed, I lost time in my day to get things done and the mechanic charged me more for their parts they had to get for my vehicle. The fellow behind the counter tried to crack a joke about coffee being mandatory for service outdoors, then quickly became serious after seeing the look on my face (resultant of a very long day at work). Since then, I haven't had to pay full price for a battery as long as I return the old battery. I took another back and they give you a new one with just a signature. read more

I went to this location with my girlfriend today to pick up a radiator for my car. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by 'Rodney' and another younger looking man. I asked the younger looking gentleman to check to see if they had the part in stock and they did, according to their system. He said he would go check for it and be back soon. The young man who was helping took 20 minutes and came back and started assisting other customers without saying a word to us. I ask Rodney to see what the status was on the part and he said the commercial parts employee was checking so we waited another 5-10 minutes and nothing yet. During this entire time, I observe employees, both front and back, vaporing, listening to music and talking on their cell phones. I ask "Rodney' again to check the part and he immediately became defensive saying the lady was 'going out of her way to find the part because it is not where it should be in the back storage and that some times their inventory doesn't update so it may not even be here'. My girlfriend snapped back and commented on his poor customer service. I became frustrated immediately due to his tone and asked how a radiator would just go missing and who was in charge of their stock and shrinkage because you can't just lose a radiator. He began to stutter and said "the questions you're asking wont get you what you need. I'm telling you she's going out of her way for you". I found his excuse hard to believe seeing as I have worked for Advanceautoparts several years ago and He insisted on going to another location to find the part, which I began to find suspicious and I felt like I was being inconvenienced due to lack of inventory control or possible internal stealing. In order to not cause a scene, I simply asked for his name which he refused to give out until I mentioned calling the corporate office to make a complaint which I did while in the store. I walked out with my girlfriend and went to another store where respectful and professional employees were. I believe 'Rodney'(I don't believe that's his real name) needs to be give a progressive discipline or fired due to his lack of professionalism and I personally believe there is stealing happening within this store from the internal group. read more

Just walked in and out after purchasing a mobile phone holder for my car...was waiting in line and noticed a customer ahead of finishing up with checkout. I walked up to the cashier and the first words "hold on...give me a second" I responded by saying that it was okay, no worries, take your time...he became more agitated for no reason and started to be extremely rude by saying "you walked up here...you shouldn't have...can't you see I'm doing something" I just couldn't believe it. I had assumed he was done so by default he would've been the next register open. I had to go back in line and wait for another cashier to check out. I ordered a battery online for in-store pickup and they told me to come back later to pick it up. I had to call a friend to jump start my car and I left. PLEASE DO NOT SHOP HERE. The Manager, Lealem, left the store for almost an hour with one employee who was new, needed manager approval for most transactions and was overwhelmed. The employee had everyone waiting because he stated his manager disappointed and he had no idea when he was coming back. This review is basically based on the fact they NEVER have enough people in the front. They have one person who goes and looks for parts for someone while everyone else sits around waiting. I'll preface this review with a simple fact: I'm not a car-knowledgable person. I pay those specialized people at the dealership to handle 99% of my car-related needs. On the off 1% chance I need something simple, like a windshield wiper, AAP is the place I run to. I stopped by on Monday around 7pm to pick up said windshield wiper. It was clear from the moment I walked in that the place was under-staffed. There was only one gentleman named Ben behind the counter trying to handle the needs of people in an ever-growing line, while also answering phone calls. I did see another worker guy walk in, check one person out, then disappear again. I watched a tiny young worker lady walk-in with a big ol' car part, look at the line, shrug and say "I was supposed to be off at 4:30", and kept walking into the back of the store. Kudos to Ben for staying level-headed, curteous and efficient under pressure. Thankfully all the customers were patient and kind to him! It was clear he was working his butt off and doing the best he could. When it came to be my turn in line, I asked Ben to double-check to make sure I got the right wiper for my truck. He quickly looked it up and confirmed. I paid and asked sheepishly, "What're my chances of getting help to put this contraption on?" He didn't bat an eye, just simply asked me to pull my vehicle up to the door. Within 5 minutes, Ben was outside and putting the wiper on himself. It was surprisingly quick, easy and I was on my way in no time. Because of Ben's work ethics alone, I'll be back to AAP of Chantilly to take care of my basic vehicle-related needs. read more

Went to pick-up my online order (two cabin air filters) last weekend. Website says the items are "in stock". I waited at the store for more than 20 minutes standing in front of the counter -- then the staff finally told me the items are not on the shelf and they have no idea where they are. I had such a great experience here that I had to write something today! Both of my headlights went out last night, and the guy at the counter (Tim) came all the way out to my car to check it out and also make sure my tail lights were still working OK. He then immediately installed my head lamps for me, and i came in about 10 minutes before closing! The gentleman that was working was named Jonathan. Jonathan seemed to be running the whole show by himself with ease. The story by all accounts was very busy but it did not seem like he was dressed nor that he could handle the mass amount of people that qere in the store at that time. Jonathan was on top of his game and helped everybody and even found time to find to help me install my car battery. While installing my car battery, He took his time to make sure that it was done properly and even chat with me. I cannot say enough about how great he was and how great the stories. And not certain exactly how much Jonathan is paid but he is not paid enough. Jonathan seems like somebody that I would hire at my establishment and I would be happy to go back And receive services from him again.
