I had a fantastic experience with ADU. Joe was extremely helpful, showing me multiple options for kitchen appliances and then recommending a specific one based on my feedback of what I needed and liked. His advice was based on in-depth understanding of how the machines work, as well as feedback from customers, and even personal use. He was able to show me how they worked and positives and negatives of each model. They had a huge selection and he couldn't have made the process easier. My husband, who had done tons of research on appliances, was in full agreement with Joe, too, which set my mind at ease. read more

They must have connections to selling appliances that fail all quality checks. They sold us a lemon of a Bosch dishwasher which didn't even last 2 years and started having major electrical issues, even burning a hole in one of the parts inside! We've been without a dishwasher for almost a year going back and forth with Bosch to try to repair it, and had zero luck. ADP hasn't helped at all either. I would not buy from this company again. Our appliances from other companies lasted minimum 8 years, even our builder grade whirlpool dishwasher. We could have had 3 for the price we paid for this broken one! What a scam! read more

I see that some of the reviews are lackluster, but I'm offering a good review. Things didn't start out well because our refrigerator had a dent upon delivery. Originally, we were very upset because appliances these days are so expensive. Steve could not have handled things better. He personally delivered a new door and even worked with us on price. It is easy to give a good review when everything goes to plan. It means even more when a store does the right thing by a customer. Four stars. read more

Chris was very helpful and didn't push us toward any specific brand. They also worked well with our contractor for delivery and install. Our French door oven didn't come in on time so Chris had them install the same model (just last year's version) until ours arrived about a month later. I thought that was awesome to keep our kitchen on track and allowed us to cook immediately. Great team. read more

Forget trying to purchase anything here. I own a interior design business and I am a contractor and I do hire s ubcontractors. I do renovate mud/laundry rooms and I use my home as a showroom. I inquired about a washer/dryer for my home showroom and personal use. I am in no hurry because the one I have works fine but with the backorder of washing machines/dryers I don't want to be stuck without one so order now to avoid the scenario. Tara, kept insisting I go to the big box store to purchase even after I shared I own a business and a contractor and hire subs. Not in just 1 email but in 2 emails encouraging me to purchase from big box stores. I want to support smaller businesses verses big box store. I should have read the reviews here prior to reaching out to ADU to purchase. I will take my sale elsewhere since obviously Tara doesn't want my money well and now after reading the reviews. I asked for a list of ADU competitors so I can take my business to them where I am sure they would appreciate it. Tara knows nothing on closing a deal. She wants contractors to shop at the big box stores and not them. So skip ADU and hit the big box stores people because nothing to see here. read more

Dealing with ADU has been a mixed bag for us so I've given myself a bit of breathing space and time in order to be fair. They have many good things going for them but they fall down big in the after sale communication and THAT is causing all the negative reviews. I'm going to try to be really fair here. Sales: Pros: Great selection and the sales people know a lot about the product. They listened and provided me with a solution that really suited my needs. Cons: I don't think they understand the computer program. I was undercharged by over $3000 which was charged to me later. The sales person gave me a firm delivery date 3 weeks later that slowly worked it's way into over 2 months because he didn't understand what he was seeing online. It caused havoc with my contractors as I was doing a full renovation. They don't return calls often. Main Office (Maryland): Nothing really bad to say here. I lucked into talking to Tara in accounts payable and she never punted me on but kept in touch throughout the process and helped me get what WAS in stock and credited out what arrived damaged and what they couldn't provide in time to finish my kitchen. It's amazing how much better you feel about a company once you talk to someone who tells you what is going on and not what you want to hear. She's a real asset to the company and definitely rehabilitated my initial perception of the company. Overall they have great stock and know the appliances. They will listen. Be aware that there is a real communication issue. I would give them another 1/2 star if possible. read more

Bottom line...0 stars...1 star is required for posting. If you want honest/considerate customer service, buy your appliances somewhere else. I rarely write a negative review, but the extremely poor customer service/lack of honesty and/or questionable business practices of ADU Chantilly warrants me taking the time to write this negative review. We experienced a house fire and are going through an entire house restoration. When the time came to order the kitchen appliances, we were told by ADU that all of the appliances we were ordering would arrive within a few weeks...i.e. none were out of stock or on back order. We told the sales rep that it might be a while before we could take delivery and were told that it would not be a problem at all. We were very specific regarding the open ended nature of the delivery date that was dependent on when our contractor would be ready for the appliances. We were told ADU would hold the appliances in their warehouse and we could notify them when we were ready for delivery. Indeed we were contacted a few weeks after the order was placed and told the appliances were in the warehouse and ready for delivery. We told the warehouse rep that we were not at the stage of the rebuild for the appliances to be delivered and again were told no problem, just call when you are ready and we will deliver the appliances. At some point in this process, the original sales rep left ADU and our order was handed over to Richard. We were contacted by Richard via e-mail stating that he had taken over the order and asking when we would like the appliances delivered. As the rebuild was taking longer than expected, we let ADU know that we were still not ready for delivery and were told that ADU would continue to hold the appliances until we were ready for delivery. At no point were we told that the delayed delivery was a problem...in fact we were reassured it was not a problem at all. When time came to have the appliances delivered, we contacted Richard and asked for delivery on W/Th/F of the following week. He said he would contact the warehouse about the delivery date and let us know the specific date. When we never heard from him regarding the specific day, I contacted ADU to schedule delivery. On that call, I was told that none of our appliances were in the warehouse and three of the four would be arriving in one week, but the fourth appliance would not be available for 5 weeks. When I queried how that could be since we were contacted on two occasions to schedule a delivery, the obfuscation began. No-one seemed to know what had happened. At one point, I was told they might have been given to another customer due to the delay in delivery, but no-one really ever gave me a satisfactory definitive answer as to what happened. On future calls to Richard, he was always "busy and unavailable" and did not return my calls. When I spoke to a manager (Chris), he indicated that the selling of our appliances to another customer could likely be what happened, but he wasn't completely sure and would look into it. When talking to Chris and Richard, I never once ever received any semblance of an "I apologize" for the inconvenience. Honesty and some sense of an apologetic tone from someone at ADU could have potentially defused this situation...neither was made aware to me. When you are rebuilding from a fire, county electrical inspections (to include appliances) are required before you can receive a certificate of occupancy that allows you to move back into your house. ADU has delayed even longer what has already been a very very long rebuild process. To be fair to ADU, it has been five months since the initial order was placed. That is a long time to hold them in the warehouse, but we did pay a 5300.00 deposit (half the order total) and were told on multiple occasions that holding the appliances in the warehouse was not a problem. Fortunately, this issue is resolved. I canceled my order and ADU refunded my 5300.00 deposit. After spending a morning researching the specific appliances needed, I located them at another local appliance distributor and they will be delivered early next week... at a savings of 1300.00. read more

Worst customer service ever. Never on time. They do not respond to any form of communication. They do not follow through on ANYTHING. 2 months to get a part for a brand new refrigerator that became useless almost immediately and 4 months to get them to put it in - 11 hours of waiting for them to come to the house. Forget it. Not worth the time - Hard to imagine that people like this are still in business. read more

A lot of these negative reviews are correct. I've had the same experience with poor communication, lack of response and poor customer experience. When you initially go into the store, they will help you and they seem to have a wealth of knowledge about their products in their store, so you trust that they are a good retailer for your appliances. However it stops there. Do not be fooled! They do not answer phone calls, emails and make up excuses for their lack of customer service. We recently bought our kitchen appliances through ADU and I would never use them again. Many of our appliances were back-ordered (even though initially, they ASSURED me that they were available to deliver when I was ready). We never even got notice that the items were back-ordered until I called the delivery dept to schedule for delivery. The sales guy rarely called me back after leaving messages. I asked to speak to their manager and he was very rude and that is when I realized the reason why their employees act the way that they do. Their manager supports their actions and does nothing to correct the way they do their business. Renovating a kitchen is a very stressful time, this company makes it more stressful. I spoke to my contractor about this and they also said the same thing. Unfortunately, I was locked in and at their mercy waiting for my appliances to be all be delivered. When I purchased all my appliances through them, I bought a specific brand and was locked in with the manufacturing rebate through the brand. Because I had purchased the appliances by a specific date, I could not return the appliances because it would mean that I would lose my rebate since some of my appliances were already delivered. However, I did notice on my receipt that there was a corporate number (in Maryland) and I decided to call them and let them know of my experiences. If anybody has experienced any bad customer service through the Chantilly store, I would recommend to call their corporate office. There really was nothing that they could do at that time anymore, but they were much nicer and seemed to want to find a solution for me. read more

Extremely poor customer service. Actually NON-EXISTENT! Spent over 45 minutes with a sales person in the Chantilly showroom. Shared some information regarding the appliance I was considering. He took notes and agreed to get back to me with some information either by E-mail or phone. Several days later, no follow-up. Since then I sent 2 E-mails and left 2 VM's...still nothing. This was actually the second sales person that I dealt with, as the first one also followed same scenario. When I called and escalated to the Sales Manager Chris, he indicated that he needs to make a decision if they should do business with me, considering this situation. Is this a response from the person in charge with SALES for this organization? This is NOT acceptable and is totally unprofessional - especially for Northern Virginia. Find another place that understand what customer service is and what does it take to run PROFESSIONALLY such a service related business! Our builder referred us to ADU as that is his relationship for appliances. We purchased an entire suite of GE monogram appliances and have had serious issue with them all. We are on our 5th microwave drawer as the heating element keeps frying out. The worst issue though is or Ge monogram double ovens, they are 3 years old and have been repaired about every 6months. The ovens are now completely broken and ADU is not standing by their product. Not to mention when the oven broke last week right before thanksgiving they referred me to an local emergency appliance repair who briefly fixed the oven only to have it completely break. Upon calling them tonight they are not even an authorized GE Repair! read more

Chris Bove was referred to me by my kitchen contractor and I was told that I 'had' to purchase from ADU. Chris would take weeks to respond to emails and not return calls. After being ready to purchase and having been unable to get a written quote from Chris - I told my contractor they could try or I would go elsewhere. We still did not get a written quote. The compromise was that I called ADU's Takoma Park location. Demetrius Crandall was extremely responsive and helpful. Even advised me on how to change out handles of one brand so that all appliances would look similar in my kitchen. I have sent many people to Demetrius and am happy to do so. But would avoid the Chantilly location. read more

I was so happy to stumble upon Appliance Distributors Unlimited in Chantilly. I had done my online research and knew pretty much what we wanted. I had a very difficult time trying to find someone to even speak with over the phone at another appliance distributor. It was refreshing to be able to call this place, speak to someone who was very friendly and knowledgeable and arrange to meet with them in a few days. When I arrived that a Saturday, the man I spoke with over the phone - Steve - greeted us, helped us narrow down our choice and we quickly made a purchase. It took us less than 45 minutes. He was extremely responsive and called me immediately when my dishwasher was in and even recommended an installer so that I didn't have to take the time to find one. I'll go there again if I need another high end appliance. **Update** When the installer arrived he quickly pointed out that the dishwasher we ordered was not going to fit because it wasn't the same size. He asked if the sales associate asked for my old dishwasher model number so they could verify and I said no. I explained that I did ask about the sizes and if there was anything to be concerned about regarding fitting and was assured by Steve "the only thing standard in the whole kitchen is your dishwasher - they're all the same: 24 inches wide". I told him one of our reasons for going with the same brand was to ensure a good fit since it's a panel front. He failed to mention there are different heights of dishwashers and our old one happens to be an ADA model - a full 2" shorter. When I called to reorder an ADA size one, I was sent a revised invoice that included a nearly $300 restocking fee! I am so livid. It's so ridiculous to charge me. If the rep had been more informed, more careful and more thorough, I wouldn't have needed to return it! Especially when I specifically asked about sizing. I sent them a note to that effect but have not heard a response. read more

This company was johnny on the spot when they were trying to sell us the appliances for our new home, but once the appliances were delivered they neglected to include the cord to hook up the dryer. When called about it Larry had the audacity to tell me that the contractors know that the plug is not included; well that's all good and fine, but the contract for the appliances was not between ADU and the contractor, it was between ADU and me, the customer. ADU should have informed me that the plug was not included in the $8500.00 that we spent for appliances for our new home. When I told him this he then tried to argue that they don't include them because they don't know the age of the house or what size plug is needed. First of all it was a new house, secondly you either ask the Project Manager for the builder, with whom you work closely and are referred customers or you send a three prong and a four prong plug out with your delivery people and they look at the outlet. I wish I had known how unprofessional they were before we purchased the appliances. read more

I tried for over 2weeks to get pricing for appliances and kept having to chase down my Rep, Joe. If I ran my business this way, I would have no clients. AVOID this company. The Hispanic delivery service they use to maximize profit for the company delivered $6000.00 worth of appliances today. Our kitchen remodel was nearing completion when they rammed the new refrigerator into the side of our new wall cabinet. Now we have to disassemble crown molding and wait an additional 6 weeks for a new cabinet. This is the third Mexican delivery company that has damaged property at our home. Does no good to sell quality appliances if they damage them during delivery. read more

If it were possible to give no stars I would. The "sales people" do not educate you about the high end appliances or the newer models or new technology. Their showroom was dirty and poorly laid out. In addition, the salesman gave me a quote that was $200-$300 more and did not come forward with the rebates or promotions that were available. If someone is going to sell high end appliances they should be able to educate their customers and be proactive in telling customers about promotionals...then the client will trust them and use them. My experience with this business was so disappointing and customer service was terrible and shady, I do not think I would give them a second chance. read more
