In addition to some of the specifics mentioned in my previous review (see below), there have been several instances where Ankers could have just recommended the more expensive route to fix something, but chose to allow us to make an informed decision by trying alternatives or doing things incrementally so that it could be determined if a smaller fix would suffice. All this without sacrificing the integrity of the car, though. It is such a relief to know you are going to receive competent and honest work on one of the major financial investments you make: your vehicle. I can't recommend them highly enough.

Not being from the area based in prior reviews I drove to the shop arriving before 9:00 AM and I believe that the gentleman already in the shop name was Fez - he was very helpful and ideally I agreed to purchase two used rims with tires doing cash and carry. After getting them back to my car unfortunately the rim star pattern was to large - I took the wheels back initially seeking a refund to locate rims at another location - working with after placing the calipers on the holes it was agreed the tires wouldn't work - I didn't need four rims but they happened to have four rims for my make and model and with trade if my remaining good rims and cash we agreed to a price and the rims are in my car. Being six hours from home finding a shop like NGR and the service approach to meet me at a comfortable place to purchase four versus two rims was very refreshing. If I lived here without question I would return to this shop and attempt to give them more business. Plus they list opening at 9AM - they're open easily 30 minutes before. Thank you!

Beware of Yelp listings with only one review. They may not be the best indication of a business…read more On a Sunday in Schenectady I found myself with a flat tire. Sunday is a terrible day to get a flat. So many mechanics take the day off. And with a tire that can hold a bit of air, but has a steady leak, there's only so far you can drive to get the problem fixed. Honestly, I was a little nervous about bringing the problem here. But I could not have imagined a better outcome. I called ahead and spoke with Cason on the phone. I rolled in and we confirmed the problem was fixable with a plug. After telling him my time constraints which involved picking up my kids, he was able to squeeze me onto a lift right away. While the car was being fixed I was offered a Bella Napoli donut. The waiting room was clean, with a clear view of the mechanics working on the cars and plenty of natural light. There is even free wifi. But I wasn't able to get any work done, because by the time I got my computer out and powered up, the repair was done. In under 20 minutes, I was out with a patched up tire for under $20. Seriously, this great experience turned my whole day around. Your milage may vary. But I can't imagine getting better service anywhere.

THEY SENT US HOME WITHOUT OUR OIL CAP AND THEN LOST IT!…read more The check engine light came on and I used my code reader to determine what was wrong. When I called them the next day and returned to the shop, they initially even were skeptical until they opened the hood and discovered that they had not only forgot to replace the oil cap but they completely lost it too. Oil had ejected out on to our engine cover. We had to wait for them to go buy a new oil cap at a dealership, clean up the mess the oil made and then they didn't even clear the code. No offer of a refund, and no one has yet to even reach out to us again. This is a dangerous level of incompetence with their customers' vehicles! Imagine if we hadn't caught it quickly and our engine ran without oil or it did any more damage? Someone should be disciplined and Firestone needs to get a handle on what's going on at the Scotia, NY shop. We're done with them forever of course and monitoring our car for any additional issues that could've been caused by this.

I bought four tires from here. Within a week, the rear driver side tire was completely flat, and…read morethe front driver side tire had a significant leak. When I went to get the rear replaced, they attempted to charge me the full price of a new tire (they argued that the flat tire was driven on while flat so they couldn't tell what happened-- but all I did was reverse three feet to give myself room to change the flat tire). Then, they never checked my front tire-- so I have to go AGAIN to get that one looked at. Then, even when I asked to keep the flat tire (to look it over myself), they refused to give it to me (trying to hide that they were lying). I finally got the tire back (after an argument from the front desk)-- and it clearly was not significantly driven on while flat. There were no punctures, no nails, nothing. Clearly, the installers had screwed up on two of four tires-- and I was left with the bill. The regional manager (a guy by the name of Josh) lied and evaded (he still hasn't returned my second phone call) to avoid any accountability from this company. All told, I'm down $900 and over five hours of phone calls and waiting in their uncomfortable lobby-- and I still have a leaking front tire. While I was waiting for them to replace my rear tire, two more costumers came in to complain about things Mavis had done wrong (including one customer whose tire was over 15 PSI over-inflated when leaving Mavis). I will never never never never never get work from Mavis again. You shouldn't either.
