Called this morning to make an same day appointment for a diagnostic on my 2009 ford focus, staff was very nice. They helped me with any questions I had and was patient with me, I'm sure they new I'm a new car owner so I appreciate the help. I felt the Diagnostic Zach did (I think I remember his name was Zach) was very thorough and professional One thing is I did wait almost two hours for it to be done so that was the only thing but I don't mind as long as the job was done correctly! read more

STAY AWAY FROM MAVIS ON Chrysler!!! They are very Unorganized and the manager is extremely Rude!! We called Wednesday to confirm tire availability and make an appointment, they advised we didn't need an appointment just to come in on Saturday. When we arrived on Saturday the manager said we're not taking any more cars. He didn't care that we had been advised Wednesday we didn't need an appointment. His ton of voice was very off putting and unprofessional. GO TO the Mavis on State St. across from Mohawk Commons. I took my car to this Mavis back in October 2019 (this is the visit I wrote about in my prior review) to have my snows put on. 8 months later, I was having my car serviced at another shop when the mechanic noticed that my snow tires were mounted incorrectly. The way my tires were mounted reduced the grip on the road, increasing my risk of a crash and making them wear down incorrectly. I had driven with my tires like that all through an Upstate NY winter. (For context, at the time of this incident, I hadn't taken my snows off even though it was June 2020 because of the pandemic restrictions at the time, and by that point, it wasn't worth paying to get my spring tires on for only a few months.) The mechanic noted the issue and I had them remount the tires correctly. I immediately wrote to the regional manager in charge of the Mavis stores in the area and asked them to reimburse me for the botched tire mounting in October, my cost to get the tires correctly mounted, and to reach out to that Mavis location to ensure they would not make the same mistake again. The manager sent me a check reimbursing me for my costs and a written apology. I'm glad they apologized and made it right with me, but I absolutely cannot trust any Mavis to perform any services on my car, unless it was an emergency. I certainly don't trust this Mavis location, period. read more

What's the point of making an appointment if you are not going to take me at my appointment time? I made an appointment because I have to get to work afterwards... it's now 30 minutes after my appointment time and my car is still sitting in the parking lot. Why?! Hate to say it but I don't care that you're understaffed. Don't over book yourself? Setting unrealistic expectations that you clearly can't meet. I will never come here again, and you shouldn't either. read more

Agree with all posts. Zero stars if possible. Worst company in America. Blame and take no responsibility. Had 11:30 appointment. Waited till 3 pm until the vehicle went on the lift. 40 minutes later they said we dont have your tire. Wtf? 4 hours of wasted time and still no tires. How can you not see there is no stock in your computer. Absolute worst. The end result was, you want to make an appointment for next week and we will order the tires? 4 hours? No coffee or drinks in waiting are. Flat out dump! I dont think so! read more

I scheduled and appointment a few days ago to get tires done and they had to order the tires. On the day of my appointment they called first thing in the morning to tell me my tires came early and that I can bring my car in earlier day which I did. The two front desk ladies (Ashley and Madina) were amazing and handling my service. Also my mechanic (his name is Keezy) worked pretty fast and on top of that I had to get my brake bars and rotors done and they was able to get my parts in less than 15 mins. I was a walk in and they took care of putting a full size spare I had come into onto a wheel that I bought. Keith was quick and clear about my options with sensors etc and I am happy with the work and the clarity. read more

My car had a flat a block away on State Street and I was able to drive to Mavis. Steve and Joe were able to fix my car and let me drive away safely in no time. I recommend Mavis for anybody who needs help with their tires. read more

Here we go again Mavis! I came back based on your willingness to correct your errors on my last inspection. I pull in with bad front brakes and front tires! I walk out with an estimate for ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS!! $1,000.00!! Seriously? Absolutely shameful! I went down the block to Pete's Auto on Edison in Schenectady and got front brakes for $250! While they did my brakes I went around the corner to Broadway Used Tires on Broadway across from Dunkins and picked up two almost new Himalaya WS2 tires for $75 (not each/PAIR)! AND Pete's (5 minute wait) threw them on for another small fee and completed my state inspection! Easy Peasy and I wasn't $ap€D by the big guys!! Moral? Go elsewhere AFTER you get your Mavis estimate so you can have a really good laugh and feel like you LITERALLY saved a million (exaggerated, slightly) bucks!! read more

I took my car in to replace a flat tire. My car was returned with a dent in the left front fender and it was scraping metal. I discovered the damage after leaving at closing time and called the next day to have the damage acknowledged. To this date the management and company have not taken responsibility, not to mention the employee who did it....he did not say a word.... There is a definite lack of integrity .. read more

I would give zero stars if possible. Stay away from this place. I had a terrible experience here. I made an appointment to have four tires replaced and front brakes. After making the appointment they called me back saying my front tires are impossible to find (admittedly, it is hard to find front tires for my smart car). I find two tires on my own (not impossible, after all) and have them shipped to me. On the day of the appointment, they spend 5 hours ... FIVE HOURS... making me wait while they discover they can't find the right rotors and brake shoes for my car. At the end of five hours, the manager on duty (Scott) tells me he can have the correct parts in a week. They are expensive, but he will honor the original quote (250+tax). Impressed with the gesture, I agree. Fast forward one week, I show up to have the brakes finally done. After 20 minutes, the guy on duty tells me it will be a three hour wait for parts. WHAT? Why didn't anybody call me to tell me the parts were not in? Annoyed, I leave and return three hours later. Brakes are replaced. $275+tax. The manager, a guy named Haig, refuses to honor Scott's price, refuses to call Scott, and refuses to call a supervisor. I do that myself. The regional manager offers me a sincere apology, agrees to the price decrease, and asks to talk to Haig. I then had to suffer through Haig's Miserable attitude as he had to go through the motions of refunding me $25. I mentioned to him that he should be more pleasant, considering that he was wrong. He said "No, because you just stole from me." The entire incident ended with profanities exchanged. I repeat...STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. You have so many other options. read more

Long story short every employee from this location needs to be fired!! I could have lost my life because they didn't replace my wheel bearing correctly and didn't put my tires on correctly. Drove 3 and half hours to visit family . By the time I reached . My tire was hanging on by a thread. It completely snapped off from the wheel bearing and my lug nuggets were gone 3 out 5 to be exact were snapped off completely! I am just happy I'm alive. But, the cooperate office sucks . I had to call twice just to get to the right person. Who then , just said he'll make sure my work get done a second time mind you My wheel bearing literally had to be replaced a second time in less than a week. No COMPENSATION just nothing !!( spent $2,000 with This company paid in cash ) Jim Flander (hopefully that's how you spell his last name) is who I spoke with from their cooperate office. Then, I told him I wanted them to make sure they gave me the 2 new tires i paid for because come to find out the tires never was replaced. But , i paid for two new ones !!He exclaims , I'll have to check and see if that can be done. If not you'll need to bring it to the first Mavis you got repairs done at to get new tires. Now why in the hell !! Would I want the same people who tried to kill me working on my car again. They don't have to worry !! I filed a complaint with the better business bureau and I'm going to contact my lawyer to sue !! They just lucky I'm not dead. My mother would have been distraught and they would then had to pay her. Money definitely can't bring a life back . But , when companies like this do crappy work that could cost you your life and think it's ok. Then , yes they should pay !! They didn't even offer to refund me my 2,000 back. Don't ever get your car repaired by this company. I had Scott from this location on Chrisler work on my vehicle with a few other employees. Don't do it !! Like I said i could have died and cost others their life on the highway if my wheel would have popped off on the highway instead of on a local street. Brought my car to fix my tires and brought in WITHOUT engine light on, picked up with the engine light on and they tried to tell me that I brought in with engine light on. On the day I picked up my car I found out the car's engine light was on, I went right back in to tell them about this and without checking what the issue was, I was told that it was coincidental and they was going to let me drive home with the engine light on, this is extremely unprofessional and not acceptable, When hand my car to a repair shop and paid my money I would expect to pick up a car without any issue as a customer if that makes sense... They were defensive the whole time, when they called me the first time to tell me what was needed to be done for the tires they did not mention about engine light at all, I would assume that if they noticed my engine light was on, they would inform me about that and recommend me some repairs like every repair shop would do, but they did not. They just started lying about me bringing in the car with engine light on so they could get away with it without any intension to know what the issue was and what caused it, my safety was not considered, this makes me really uncomfortable. read more

This review is for the store on Chrysler ave in Schenectady. After calling and verifying they had 4 tires in stock for my vehicle, I go in to have them put on. They check me in and tell me to have a seat they'll get it right in. After an hour and a half the counter person comes out and tells me they infact DO NOT have my tires in stock! At this point I'm heated to say the least. So she offers me 4 other tires and says she will match the price. Ok very good right? Now the only guy working today (wednesday) is sitting down eating pizza. After another 25 minutes they come out and tell me the tech broke 2 of my tire pressure sensors and don't carry them so they offer to replace my sensors with regular valve stems which leaves me responsible for both sensors they broke ($98ea) and a tire light on my dash. Finally after 3 hours and 15 minutes I have new tires on my truck, $200 worth of damage and a tire light on! I write reviews for everyplace I do business wether good or bad because I don't feel business should get our hard earned money when they could care less about the customer or how much damage they've done to your vehicle. Needless to say I am EXTREMELY disappointed and out $200 for the broken sensors, on top of the 400 I paid for the tires. They could've at least offered me some pizza for lunch since I was here for nearly 4hrs just to have 4 tires mounted. read more

This Mavis Tire location has the worst customer service. I was the first customer this morning with a 9:00 am appointment. They opted to take the second customer who arrived. first. Only one employee showed up to work. My turn came over two hours latter at 11:09. They put on my snow tires, did not charge me and sent me on my way. When I arrived home I opened my truck so I could store my regular tires and to my surprise they were not there. I had to return to the store to retrieve them. It was nice they did not charge me, but who has three hours on a Sunday morning to give up. It always takes a long time at this location but this was the worst and will be my last. read more

VERY DISAPPOINTED. i got a flat tire on my dads car about a week ago, triple a suggested going to mavis on chrisler ( that was the closest) i called & got an estimate, when i ended up paying they up charged me $20. they told me they were putting on the SAME tire, did not give me a choice, & told me i was getting a great deal because it was on sale. i said okay. I brought the car back to my dad & he said it wasn't the right tire. they told me at the store i had 9 days to come back if there were any problems. my dad called & spoke to 3 different employees including the manager who was to his surprise, the RUDEST. the manager told my dad i was given a choice between different tires which i was not, shifted the blame on me & said there was nothing that he could do. all in all stay away they are deceitful & very rude. read more

I was in a hurry to get tires. Was upsold an alignment. I agreed. Steering wheel still isn't in the right spot. Also, it vibrates at 60. I've been back three times now to get the work done right. Still isn't fixed right. I'm taking it to another Mavis. Maybe there, it will be finished properly? Avoid this place at all costs. read more

Drove here in a blizzard on nearly bald tires for a 4:30pm appointment I made two days before. Got there and they said they didn't have time for me. I asked if I could just take the tires I ordered to have mounted somewhere else because I was now basically stranded in a snow storm with bald tires. They deserve a minus 5 and you will know why when you read this. You may not believe this but it is true. Last year we went to Mavis on Chrysler Ave. for tires. There was a rebate promotion where you got a $70 Visa card. We were told by the guy it was all taken care of. Well after about 10 weeks we got nothing. We went back and were told it was all over but it was never sent in according to them and Corporate. After complaining the guy who did it doesn't work there anymore and other people have been complaining about the same thing. I think he was getting them and keeping the Visa cards. They end up giving us 2 free oil changes and a $50 credit slip that has to be used there. Nice thought but we wanted the Visa card. So my wife gets the first oil change about 8 months ago. About 2 weeks ago she brings the car in for tire rotation and oil change. I don't trust them so I mark the tires with their location. We go to pick up the car and it's outside. I look at the tires and they aren't rotated. We go in and the manager says you car is already. We ask is everything done and we are told yes. We ask him than why are the tires in the same spot. We're told the slip says they are done. I told him come out and look. So he asks the guy and were told they weren't done. Now it's hot and we are totally pissed off. They say they will do it now. We are also told by the manager (i'm not making this up) that they don't know how to read. My wife asks him again and once again she's told they don't know how to read. She asks him for a third time if he's joking and he says no they don't know how to read. They take the car in and rotate the tires. Keep reading as the best is to come. Last Friday, my wife takes out the car and there is oil everywhere in the driveway that we just had resealed. I call her and tell her to check the car for leaks where she was. Sure enough it's leaking. She than takes the car to Mavis in Johnstown, NY to have them look at it. We are told that the drain plug was stripped, the oil filter was cross threaded when it was put and was leaking and the oil pan on the car was dented. He was embarrassed that work was done like that. He that replaced everything and did another change the right way all at no charge. We contacted corporate and the district manager who also was embarrassed by the clowns on Chrysler Avenue. NEVER AGAIN but we would go to the one in Johnstown, NY. read more

They draw you in with cheap tire prices only to try to increase the bill with additional services and scare you into thinking if you don't do it your car will stop running.  Went across the street to Dream Autos and Ralph, Aaron and Chris explained the manufacturer suggest maintenance on a schedule but they can take care of the brakes today and I can schedule the other services for a time when my fixed income allows. The car could use some fresh fluids for better performance so I'll be back to Dream Autos but you should pass on these Mavis crooks. Mavis- It's like fast food for your car...cheap prices but your stomach will regret it later. read more

i call make ab appointment for 9am , i get there at 9 am and the lady tells me that they infact can not get me and says probably wont happy at all today, i live 20 minutes away so 40 minutes of driving with brakes that sound like there gonna fall of, they could have easily called me in the am and explained it wasnt gonna happen today before i drove all the way out there! the weird ass mechanic was rude as hell!! read more

Oh where do I even begin. I first bought tires from Mavis last year. They were about a $100 a piece and had a 60k mile warranty on them. It took them over three days to install because they kept breaking the pressure sensors and trying to put the blame on me saying it wasn't their fault that the sensor broke blah blah blah. Anyways I drove off after having my car there three separate days, glad to be done with Mavis forever. Or so I thought. I went to get my car inspected a week ago (I had only put 25k miles on the tires) and they all failed inspection because the tread was already gone. I brought the car back to the Mavis in Schenectady and said hey I got these tires a year ago and I don't even have half the mileage of the warranty on them so what's the deal. The technician there said 'Well the tires look to be overinflated so the warranty is void'. I've never touched the tire pressure at all so I knew this was either a faulty tire or someone at Mavis had overinflated them (I had been there a few months back to repair two that were leaking). So I contacted corporate and they said yeah what he said is BS we can help you out. We will prorate the tires and just have you pay for half the tire since you've used half the warranty. So since I knew the Schenectady Mavis was garbage, I went to the one in Rotterdam, hoping for something better. Boy was I wrong. I dropped the car off, had the tires installed, and in about 2.5 hours I was driving off the lot with new tires. As I was driving off it said 'tire pressure low' and I thought well that's probably normal so I drove home. I drove another 20 miles or so and the light wouldn't go off, and switched to 'tire pressure sensor fault'. So I called Mavis and they said yeah bring it back we'll fix it no issue. So I came back that afternoon and one of the employees there (none were wearing name tags no surprise) said 'Oh I forgot to mention before. My tire technician said that your light was on before you came in so we can replace it but it'll cost you since it wasn't our fault.' Utter BS so I explained no, no lights were on when I dropped this car off, and if they had been, you would've told me before I left earlier. He basically ignored me and stormed out to my car and said 'your tire pressure is too high, drive it over to the pump' so I did. I waited 30 minutes for him to come back outside and fill them and when he never did, I went inside and he said yeah you're all set. My guy lowered the pressure so just drive 15 miles and it'll go off. I watched my car the whole time and saw no one so I grabbed the tire pressure pump and as I was about to check them, a guy ran out and said 'Oh! Yours is the car I was going to change the pressure in. My bad man!' So he lowered the pressure and I left. 40 miles later the light was still on so I went back the next day and said 'I was in here yesterday, got new tires, and a sensor light was broken'. A really nice tall guy either josh or John said 'no problem, sorry for the issue you had. I'll get you right in ASAP'. Three hours later my problem was fixed and I was driving off the lot. Over 12 hours of trouble to have a set of tires put on without any issues. Mavis' customer service at the store level is horrible. BUYER BEWARE. if you have any issues, don't believe the BS the tire techs tell you, call corporate. Buy anywhere else so you don't have to go through the hell I went through. read more

if i could give zero stars i would. this place is a disaster, a rip off and should really just be closed down. came in for a new set of brake pads for my car. simple fix, right? half hour after drop off i receive a phone call that my entire brake system needs to be replaced. pads, rotors and "a caliper that is frozen in place needs to be replaced". 874 DOLLARS. i said absolutely not i'm coming to pick up my car now. i live 25 minutes away, called them while i was at my house. got back down and my car was STILL on the lift with no tires on it. had to wait another 15 minutes to get my car back. as i'm leaving i notice an obnoxious squeaking noise, so i turned around and said theres something wrong. they "fixed the problem", gave me my car back and it sounded like shit. i took my car elsewhere to a RELIABLE mechanic and he said my car is running absolutely fine. no need to come in and do any work on it until NOVEMBER. he had to put back everything the CORRECT way... drove perfectly fine. needless to say, i will never be returning here again. read more

Made a 9 am appointment here today. Was the fifth person in line when they opened to drop my keys off. It is now 3:30 PM, and ive called twice to tell them i made an appointment because i needed it for things today. All i was having done is snow tires (already bought and on rims in my trunk) put on my front wheels and the front wheels moved to the back, back tires in the trunk. I wouldn't be so upset about the 6 and a half hours it was taking if my car was being taken in, however driving by twice today i have seen new cars that were not there when i was at 9 am having there car serviced but yet mine sat in the same parking spot. What is the point of appointments, and how is it fair to take people that come after me first when i made an appointment and have been waiting hours to get my car back. That is not good customer service. Will be contacting corporate/the company about the horrible service. read more

I will never bring my car here again and I would not recommend this place to anybody! I had some work done with the brakes it started making a funny noise so I ended up bringing it back it was 12 Days after the initial fix.. turns out they forgot to put a bolt-on and recommended that it's not safe to drive. They said they'll call around and see if they can find a bolt but it wouldn't be done today we were not going to leave that day without a car as we have work and the rest of our life that we had to move on with the next day. We told them if they're unable to have it fixed and ready for us today due to something that was completely their fault then they would have to provide a rental car the assistant manager there had to go through three or four different people to make phone calls. Finally it was approved I picked my car up the next day and within one day it started making noises again I am definitely not bringing it back to that place to get it looked at even though whatever the noise is obviously their fault and who knows if they would even fix it correctly seeing their track record. I would never recommend this to anybody whatsoever. If you want the work done right on your car and to feel safe and secure driving either yourself or your family do not go here. read more
