Make sure you're vehicle has reached normal operating temperature before arriving. If there is a long line, turn off the engine. It can cause an emissions test failure on older vehicles that are right on the edge of passing. Apparently it is also wise to have the gas tank more than half full. I have been to this location many times over the years I have lived in the Valley. Employees always seem to be having a good day. The emissions test on newer non-commercial vehicles doesn't take very long. On my most recent visit, I arrived on an early weekday about 20 minutes before closing and was only two cars back. In & out, under 10mins! This is my preferred emmisions location, as there's usually no wait time. If your engine light comes on, you do have to pay $17 for them to tell you the issue. I was dreading going for my emissions testing. Usually it's slow, the line is long and well, it's one of those things I just put off to the last minute. This time, mid-afternoon on a Saturday, I did an adulting things and when for my emissions testing. Went there mid day on a Tuesday and took about 10 minutes total between waiting and testing. Super easy and only cost $17 which isn't too bad. I haven't been to any other locations so I can't compare, but I was surprised by the convenience. I headed out the the emissions location a few miles away. I arrived and could not figure out how to the back where all the cars were lined up. I noticed a truck arriving at a gate and pulling a paper tag to enter...okay I drove to the gate a grabbed the tag, the gate opened and I drove to one of the two lanes. I thought it would take forever...nope! The line moved quickly and I was a the front now. The people working here are very nice and professional. I left with my paperwork and was very pleased! I had to smog my daughters newly purchased used car and being from California, this was a new experience for me. One, in California, the car must be recently smogged prior to sell and the buyer does not have to smog it until a year after ownership. Two, when you do smog in California the process is slow and expensive. So, when I drove up this ADEQ station, I was at a gasp by the long line upon arrival. Curiously, it dwindled quickly and within 10 minutes it was my turn. Here's where it gets crazy different than in California. I was asked to exit my vehicle and stand in the waiting stall that is COVID friendly. The technician was cheerful and friendly and chatted with me while he did his testing. I think it took like 3 minutes total for him to perform the test which I passed. I paid with Apple Pay from my car and he gave me a print out and off I went. That was it! Freaking amazing. If they only did smog like this in California! I would HIGHLY recommend using this station if you need to get a smog certificate. read more

The place is a little hidden off of the main road! But it's super easy to get to and the workers are super friendly. They definitely make sure that they're taking all the precautions to keep you safe and prevent the spread of germs. Initially when you get out of your car, the worker showed me that he's using hand sanitizer on his hands before helping me out of the car and entering the drivers side door. He also had a mask on that he did not take off throughout the entire time I was there. All in all I think I spent a total of maybe 30 minutes and it was super easy to go through! read more

Let's face it, no one and I mean no one wants to go take the car in for emissions testing. It takes time out of your day, costs money, and makes you nervous that you might have something wrong with you car which seems just fine to you. Unfortunately part of owning a car is taking it in for testing and this place makes it as painless as it is possible to be. The location is easy to find and easy to get into. Once you take your ticket and get in line the process goes pretty fast. I have never had to wait longer than 15 minutes and the guys working the tests get the job done quickly. The staff is very friendly and makes the process easy and comfortable. They tell you just what to do and where to be, test your car, take your money, give you a print out, and send you on your way. My visit was so fast! It took me more time to drive here than wait/get inspected. I hopped on over per DMV guidance. (I didn't realize you could check wait times online.) Although there were only two lanes open my entire visit clocked in at 5 minutes. No joke! The employees are on top of their game and super pleasant. $20 bucks for cars. Checks are accepted (provided your name and address match state identification). When you pull into the testing area have everything unplugged. Leave the keys in and the car running. Hop out of the car. You probably won't even have time to check Facebook. Have payment ready. (Don't be that fool fumbling around!) I pulled into the "Full Service Lane" all vehicles inspected (the only open options). The "Express Lane" is for 1996 and newer cars. (Pay attention! Let's face it... who wants to go to the emissions test center and wait in line? After all, it does ADD a task to renewing a car's registration. And who wants to deal with the DMV. Oh, me, of course. alas, visiting the emissions test centers in AZ is something that us folks with 5+year old cars must do every couple of years. Here is my take on this particular station in a quick and down and dirty review that should help you figure things out. #1. Check the website to see what the wait time is. #2. READ the signs posted above the bays BEFORE you instinctively decide to take the shorter line. SOMETIMES, the longer line goes faster because it is for cars that are younger than 10 years old. READ the signs first! #3. Be prepared to get out of your car when you pull in to the bay. They need to get in your car to hook up the device that reads your car's computer. BE PREPARED. Have your card ready. #4. Don't wait until the last minute! Go BEFORE your expiration date, like on the 17th of the month or the 10th. I kicked this review down to #3 because the station at 16th street handled a bigger crowd more efficiently. Let's face it, we just want to get the heck outta there and efficiency is much more important to me. The staff was still friendly and operated with fast precision. HOT TIP FOR ALL WITH VEHICLES 1996 and NEWER ~~~~ Get in the OBD ONLY line (Lane #1)! The OBD test is the emissions test for vehicles 1996 and newer!! Warren was born in 1997. I found out i could use Lane#1 when I pulled into lane #2 and waited for 30 minutes to finally get up to the bay. Lanes 1 and 3 were cruising. I get extreme anxiety when it comes to any type of work or check ups on my car. I had a list of errands to run for the day so decided to spot here to get my emissions test completed first. I showed up shortly before 8 am and there were already a few cars in line. 2 lanes were open and the lane I was in was shorter because my car is a 2000. And guess what? I PASSED! Lol.
