I brought my 2004 Mercedes-Benz C240 in for an emissions inspection three times. The vehicle initially failed because I had recently replaced the battery, which cleared the computer memory and the required emissions monitors were not yet ready. What could have been a very frustrating experience turned into a positive one because of the people working at this station. On every visit, the team was patient, professional, courteous, and willing to explain what was happening. I never felt rushed or treated like I was simply the next vehicle in line. I especially want to recognize the station manager, Sam. She went above and beyond by providing me with a website where I could find the proper drive cycle for my Mercedes-Benz C240. That information made a real difference. I followed the drive-cycle instructions, returned for my third inspection, and the vehicle passed. I really appreciated that Sam and her team didn't just tell me the vehicle failed and send me on my way. They helped me understand why it failed and gave me useful information about what I could do next. That kind of customer service can save someone a lot of frustration, time, and potentially unnecessary expense. We headed to the one closest to our next destination which is off Raintree and Northside. You must drive up to a gate where you will take a ticket. Follow the road to the building where smog checks are done. We didn't even wait 10 minutes before our turn came up. Staff motioned us to drive forward when they were ready and took our ticket. The staff has you turn off your engine and restart it again. You are asked to leave your car running and to leave the car momentarily. There are small rooms for customers to wait while the test happens. It took maybe 3 minutes at most. We paid the test fee, passed the test and drove away. Smog test results are sent electronically to MDV. All we need to do is renew the registration. Staff are super efficient.

Apparently, I wasn't the only one who saw that, because several of us showed up to find the doors very much closed. Since these aren't government-run sites, I was surprised they weren't open, especially when so many other businesses were operating that day. That said, I returned later and had the pleasure of being helped by Frank. He was a senior gentleman like myself, and let's just say he operated at a smooth and steady 0.1 miles per hour. But you know what? I appreciated it. He was clearly doing his very best, taking his time, and making sure everything was done properly. At one point, he was mopping the cement floor with a mop, which I don't judge at all however, I did find it a bit unexpected during the process! Because of the slower pace (and the brief housekeeping intermission), my lane took a little longer than the others. Thankfully, I wasn't in a rush and was able to wait patiently.
