I went online to see how long the waits were for a smog emissions test. Every single location had a 10 minute wait. Great. We headed to the one closest to our next destination which is off Raintree and Northside. You must drive up to a gate where you will take a ticket. Follow the road to the building where smog checks are done. We didn't even wait 10 minutes before our turn came up. Staff motioned us to drive forward when they were ready and took our ticket. The staff has you turn off your engine and restart it again. You are asked to leave your car running and to leave the car momentarily. There are small rooms for customers to wait while the test happens. It took maybe 3 minutes at most. We paid the test fee, passed the test and drove away. Smog test results are sent electronically to MDV. All we need to do is renew the registration. Staff are super efficient. read more

They were really nice & quick. There's no reason for them to be so respectful and nice yet they go out their way to communicate and make the process smooth read more

Zero stars if I could, just created the worst experience I have had interacting with another "human" if they can be called that. Completely unhelpful when requesting information in order to pass there inspection and was instead told I could "go F* myself and get off the property". Definitely was profiled into an assumption and was not only completely disrespected by this women but after kicking me out she even sent one of her dogs (same guy who failed my car) to try to intimidate me off the property when I was already leaving. Now I have a car that I have dealership mechanics green lighting and this department telling me no with zero explanation or resolution. I would recommend a different location as there recommendation for failed test is to just drive your car illegally. Can not believe this is the only option for the test read more

Highly recommend this location - quick, easy in and out in 5 minutes. Friendly staff, can pay cash or card for $17. Couldn't believe how nice and easy it was read more

I got in the express lane because my car is a 98. The dumb incompetent broad working there made me move to the slow lane where I had to wait behind a big old truck. She was completely RUDE about it too. Yelling at me and all. Horrible experience. Was never a problem before... But this dumb ignoramus. read more

The service was quick I had two cars done in under 1hr. The first time was with this rude-old bitter-white man. Typical run of the mill low educated guy. I don't think he knew how to count because he was stressed out and partially intimidated when I whipped out a $20 to pay for a $17 smog fee. He said " I can take cash but would prefer a card" lol. I ended up just giving the guy my Amex card to get out of there sooner. Cash is king but not for people who can't count. Not sure how those types of people can get these jobs. Second time around I got lady that was quicker, smarter, and had better communication skills. I was out in under 5 minutes. That's how it should be. read more

Everyone hates when they get the reminder that they are due for an emissions test, but I've come to this location ever since moving to AZ and have never had any issues. They always are quick and efficient here. Follow the easy instructions, wait for them to test, pay, and you're on your way with your passing paperwork (assuming you do pass). My most recent visit was on a Saturday towards the beginning of the month around noon. Only a few cars were in front of me. Easy. I'll continue to come here when I need to. read more

I was able to get in and out with no problem. The test results are uploaded automatically to MVD so the entire process is very easy. read more

It's not bad! Yes, a bit of a wait but if you check for busy times and come when it's not busy, you can be in and out in less than 15 minutes. I've done it. And even when I've come and it's busy it's still a short wait. read more

ADEQ - Today's line, end of the month before a holiday. I waited about 20 minutes. No big deal! - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Scottsdale, Arizona

Ok experience, I guess. No line when we got there. One lane empty, so we took it. 2 guys working on something, didn't bother to tell us to go to a different lane. Looked at us and just kept doing whatever it was they were doing. Had to back up and go to a different lane. This guy was fast and friendly. read more

One of our cars needed an emission inspection recently and we came here on a Saturday afternoon. That's right! Saturday afternoon! We had three cars ahead of us, and after a short stay inside, we gave our small contribution of $27.75 to Gov. This was the first time I've needed to get my car tested in Arizona; quite a different experience from back East. Drive up to the gate on the north side, take a number ticket, and drive through the gate to make a 180 degree turn. Hang on to that ticket because the inspector will ask you for it. Get in the appropriate lane for your vehicle (read the signs). Stay in your car until you drive it in the bay. You'll need to turn off the A/C and open your gas cap door. They'll let you either stay in the car while they inspect it, or you can wait in this convenient little safety booth next to your car. It took about 5-7 minutes, and $20 later I was on my way. A helpful sign tells you which lane to get in, depending on what type of vehicle you have. Another sign conveniently estimates the wait time, and it was pretty accurate. Supposedly your inspection information is uploaded to the AZMVD within a few minutes. read more

I have never had my emissions tested since I've lived in AZ (2 years) and when it came time to renew I was required to get them tested, so I picked a location which they have a ton to chose from and convenient times for everyone, and headed that way. I was a bit thrown off by having to pull a ticket then go through the drive way up to one of the open garage doors, the guys were getting all of these cars in and out within 10 minutes. The guy who was directing me was really nice and seemed surprised that I had thanked him, the guy who did my testing was very direct but was also nice. Would highly recommends his location! read more

kind and quick! viep was considerate of the fact that I had a newborn with me and was very accommodating. thank you!

My car needed an emissions test for the first time. I was very pleased when I found our we have a test center so close to our office. Went in during my lunch break. Had to wait in line for about 15 min or so while other cars got done but when it was my turn, I was in and out in less than 5 min! It cost me only $17. The info automatically transmits to the DMV so I was able to renew my car's registration online as soon as I was in front of a computer. Very convenient and fast service! read more

I have brought 2 vehicles on separate occasions and each time the staff worked diligently to get everyone out in a timely fashion. It is that time of the year again... when we need to renew our registrations. Make sure to check the estimated wait times online, if you plan it ahead and choose the right time you can have a better experience. For second time in a row we had fast and courteous service. Mero performed the inspection and he was super fast, friendly and professional (he is a young man with beard and curly hair in a pony tail, if you see him pay attention, we were in a different line and moved to his because he was super fast). Other than that, the location is kind of tricky, I never remember how to get here, always have to Google it, but once you are there you can get in and out in about 15 minutes if the line is not too bad. Good luck! read more

I left this place about an hour ago and debated on writing. There appears to be a very loud woman in charge here. She screams at her employees and rants around the emission area. I stood there in disbelief as how she treated the guys working on testing our vehicles. The poor guy doing my test was great. However, someone needs to check in on that loud woman. I asked if that was his boss and he said yes. We just looked at each other :( That is abuse in the workplace and if that woman can't control her loud screaming at people.. maybe she needs to find a new line of work. Work should not have to be a pain to go to. Aside from that.. my testing went great and my guy who did it was superior. read more

Well managed and smooth processing. It hardly took 5 mins for me to get all formalities done.

The crazy State of Arizona has this stupid rule that you have to get a smog check from one of their ADEQ centers (Arizona Department of Environmental Quality). Well, I took one of my cars there to go through the tests....it failed because the Service Engine light was on....what?! Why? What does that have to do with anything? Ok, so I go to a mechanic and he fixes it and resets the light. 3 days later, I go back to the ADEQ center and it fails again! Why? Because they said that the computer in the car is "not ready"....what? What's that?! To get an answer, I have to park my car and go inside an office...out comes a manager and he says that the computer in my car is not "reset and ready" and so I have to wait until it is before I come back. Perplexed, I asked..."how will I know when it's ready"? He says..."I don't know, ask the mechanic". I say..."wait, I have to go back and ask him when it's ready"? He says..."well, that's the only way you will know for sure. The other option is that you drive around for a few days and hope that the car's computer is ready and then bring it back in for a test. However, if it fails again, you will have to take it to a location in downtown Phoenix and have a mechanic check it out...it's not convenient or cheap". I leave extremely frustrated and angry. Smog Checks are a scam. Return Factor - Unfortunately, I'm forced to do this every time my car registration is due...100% read more

My visit was relatively quick, the service provider was friendly, and is one of the only emission test centers in the area. The test cost $17 dollars and be prepared to wait 20 if you go in the middle of the day. There is a small office that you would go in if you didn't pass your emissions test, but otherwise you stay in or with your car the entire time. If your check engine light is on you will fail your test! read more

I drove a long way to get here. I called ahead to make sure they were open and was told they would be open until five. I waited in line a long time and just as I was getting up to the testing center they told everyone to leave. They wouldn't say why, but they said they are not longer testing anyone else and everyone would leave immediately. So I wasted a lot of time that I took off work to go get this done. Not only would they not test my vehicle, they wouldn't tell me why. read more

There was no line when I visited around 1pm today/Wednesday. I was helped by Bill who made me feel assured of the precautions he was taking while being hands on with my vehicle. He wore a mask, maintained physical distance, and sanitized his hands when necessary. With the many additional steps that he was taking, he remained energetic and kind as the line picked up a bit. AVOID, do not go to this location no matter what. They almost blew my motor and damaged my transmission because they left they left parking brake on while they were attempting the dyno test. There was a long line when I got here...they opened another bay and forced me to that lane. Then while I waited in that line, people that arrived after me moved through the line I was originally in! Two visits in one week! I needed to take both Mom's and my car in for emissions testing (first one since we bought our Priuses in 2010) before purchasing two-year registrations** through servicearizona.com. $20 cash per test, and the testing takes less than five minutes***, or so you hope, because some of the people here perspire and leave AWFUL body odor on your driver seat! The rep who handled Mom's car last week (3'ish pm) was much cleaner (and not as big) as the guy that did my car test two days ago (630 pm). Last week's tester was also older, friendlier, and knew how to bid me goodbye with a smile. As soon as I got home from the test two days ago, I changed shirts and went back to my car, armed with a can of Lysol disinfectant. I then went back to the apartment and took a shower. Lesson learned: Visit earlier in the day to avoid bacteria and sweat-drenched testers from contaminating your driver chair! I wonder if I may get my car tested earlier in the year to avoid this malady in the future? If not, then I suppose I need to cover my seat with plastic sheets, or a towel I don't mind throwing away... **Registering two years at a time saves money. This year, I saved about $70 total for both cars, and another $40 next year, since we won't need smog checks for another two years! ***There were at least two sites online that gave estimated wait times at different valley locations. One even provided webcam links to show you real-time captures, so you can see just how busy each location was. Pretty nifty! Learn from my experience, though-- go earlier in the day to prevent the need to spray! :P read more

Great location to check your carbon footprint and do the global warming / global cooling dance. It is mandated that you get your vehicle tested once they turn 5 years old or older so you can then shell out some serious ducats for a new shiny sticker. I have been to several locations throughout the valley with company vehicles as well as my own and this one so far is the best. My older Mercedes turbo diesels were like a couple of mosquito foggers and no longer could bare this "do si do" and they were happy to let me know. Sadly I miss my 300TD and 300TDT built in Stuttgart with over 2 tons of bulldozing madness. Auf Wiedersehen! I arrived at 4pm and was out the door in 10 minutes. Maybe I just got lucky this time but they say luck is when preparation meets opportunity. Good luck and hope your ride passes with flying colors. read more

"Ol Blue" passed her nine year inspection without having a tube stuck up her rear. She had passed her seven year inspection and I didn't expect any problems. After all, she had had her stomach pumped, her joints lubed, all of her arteries replaced, her belt replaced, her shoes replaced and rotated, her blinders with cracks replaced plus survived a left rear leg cosmetic mishap. I corralled her into a line with four other horse and buggys while she waited patiently as the heat started to rise in the early morning. When her turn came I handed the ADEQ gentleman the ticket and was told to stand in the booth while he checked her pedigree registration, her intake, her cranking, her running lights, her malfunction indicator and her connector integrity. Luckily, she wasn't exposed to an evasive physical exam that would have made her strut her stuff. Why push her in her old age? Yippee "Ol Blue" is OBD Compliant and should be good until year eleven unless she follows "Big Orange" and "Brownie" to the glue factory before then. read more

Emissions testing, nobody likes it, but a lot of people have to do it. After searching online for emission testing centers, I realized two things: (a) this is the only location near me; and (b) I like how they have estimated waiting times and a camera for live view. Since I didn't feel like driving out of the way I came to this location and was not happy when I first saw all four lines, I thought I was going to be here forever! Luckily I chose to wait in one of the two far right lanes which allows for only ODB (on-board diagnostic) readable vehicles. Little did I know theses lanes were the ones to be in because the test goes 1000x faster. There are yellow signs above each corridor informing you that ODB cars can use any lane, but those without that capability must be in the first or second lane. Unfortunately from where you first join the line of cars, you can't read those yellow signs and by the time you can, no one will let you "cut" in front of them cause everyone wants to get out! Anyway, by luck I was in the better lane and moved up to the front of the line rather quickly. Sadly, Bacon (my car) failed the first time because of his gas cap and I was terrified of having to come back at a later date and retest. Luckily, the very friendly mechanic told me that the facility had gas caps and he would give it to me and retest me right then and there. I was ecstatic, but also scared because I thought the mark-up would be crazy high due to the situation, but nope, it was free! Woot Woot! I was able to get out in about 20 minutes from first wait to finish, impressive! read more
