I began working with Heather as a partial services planner for our wedding. Ultimately we had to part ways mid way through the process as it was not a good fit.
PROS
1) She definitely makes an effort to try to understand her client's vision, and does her best to accommodate the client's goals. For example, when I said I worked better with numbers/spreadsheets, she worked to make a google doc available though this is not something she is used to doing. She also worked hard to listen amongst many changing opinions/personalities.
2) She is familiar with good vendors/good vendor practices, and suggested a good vendor for florals.
CONS
1) She didn't feel comfortable working within the budget we wanted and we only discovered this mid way through. However, after we parted ways, and I was in the end able to do everything I wanted in the lower end of the budget that she wanted (several thousands of dollars in savings).
2) She was less responsive than I would prefer (an average response to email was about 10-14 days, sometimes did not get any response back).
Ultimately we parted ways because I really needed someone who could work with my budget/be firm with me about what would drive up cost or not, and that required a lot of back and forth (i.e. required someone who would be responsive).
Finally, make sure you pay close attention to her contract and payment schedule up front and make sure you define the terms of services very closely, as she writes in exactly how much interaction (1:1 visits) she will allow. These terms differed quite a bit from some of the in -person /phone discussions we had when things were more informal. Had I been a bit smarter, I think we could have had some of the tougher conversations up front and avoided having to part ways down the road.
That being said, I do think Heather could be better fit for some (particularly full services where you would have her full attention), or month-of services, rather than a partial-service package. I did find her pricing to be reasonable compared to other planners. read more
