On the days leading up-to our wedding, the most common comment wasn't "Congratulations", but rather "You two look sOoo relaxed!" For a time-crunched and creatively-challenged couple, MB proved to be a true live saver. We opted for MB's full wedding package and over the course of 13 months we met with MB on numerous occasions to plan our Big Day. MB put a ton of energy into understanding the dynamics of the relationship between now-wife and I, and ultimately crafted an event to match our unique personalities. MB and her team handled everything from scheduling vendor meetings, contract management, design/theme/decor, day-of time line, etc. It goes without saying that our wedding day went off without a hitch and far surpassed each and every one of our expectations. MB created a truly stylish, modern, and contemporary wedding event that I think about everyday and can't help but smile.

It took me a long time to write a review because I wanted to put it behind me, but sometimes you need closure. I write this with all honesty, because I couldn't make this up even if I wanted to. Planning my wedding was a nightmare, and working with Michelle was no walk in the park-- but I'm happy everyone else had a good time and it all came together. Michelle has a strong personality that we believed would help us move things along, when it instead caused many bumps in the road for me personally. I believe on such an important day the most important thing is to have a clear understanding on both sides of your budget. MB put together a fabulous plan that was 3x our ideal budget. We tried to keep things reasonable, but she pushed many of her own vendors who did not fit into our budget. We tried cutting down our guest list and eliminating what we could. She puts on very high end like weddings and we liked her style, but you can have nice without breaking your bank and your families bank. What bothered me the most was her suggestions on how to deal with family that wanted to help or offer their services. She told us to ask for them to write out a check-if they really wanted to help, so that they could enjoy the event as a guest. In the end, my family helped us with the food, decor, entertainment, programs and favors and I don't regret any of it! There was much stress along the way that was more memorable then the joy of this event. To top it off MB was not even available the week before the event. Instead she was kind enough to send me an email saying she was out of phone range in Nevada for her daughter's softball thing and that I was using up her monthly allotted text messages. It wasn't that I needed her right then and there, but really I had to order boxes and needed the dimensions. She had them in her office, but she wasn't available to answer a simple text to tell me what needed to be ordered. In the end, the event came together and everyone had a wonderful time and I think that was what was most important.

(We had a wedding in San Francisco of 90 people with the ceremony and reception in different places.) I was especially grateful for her ability to help us navigate our difference of opinions on planning decisions as a couple by bringing us back to what was important to us on that day. If Robyn's available on your date, you should book her before somebody else snaps her up! We hired Robyn in 2019 to do day-of coordination for our May 2020 wedding. I have some event planning experience under my belt but we figured it'd be good to have someone there on the day to answer guest questions and coordinate all the vendor arrivals. Obviously our plans changed because of covid, but Robyn was there for every moment of our postponement...and then the second postponement...and finally the mad dash when we finally went for it. Those last few weeks were, all considered, very calm and organized because Robyn kept us on-task (in a friendly, nice way; she's NEVER pushy). Especially with so much uncertainty about everything these days, she was a really steadying presence. She had great suggestions when we asked her for them but was never pushy at all. Then, when the weekend finally came, we arrived at our beautiful remote venue...only for the entire area to lose power! Robyn kept everything running smoothly, from digging up spare candles to put on tables for the welcome dinner to figuring out the logistics for getting a generator on-site if the power outage continued into the wedding day. Fortunately we were able to have power for the afternoon and evening of the wedding, but since we were in good hands we just got to concentrate on getting married. All this, plus helping make our dining tables and reception area look beautiful, plus running a wedding ceremony. No big. When even your guests notice and appreciate how smoothly an event is going...that says a lot. Also, I feel I should mention Robyn's pricing is exactly what it says on the label, which is very refreshing as that's not always a given when looking at wedding vendors. All in all, we'd recommend her to any- and everyone. Thank you, Robyn!

Working with Sarah at Small Shindigs was nothing short of amazing. I knew from our first…read moreconsultation phone call that she was the perfect person to help us get down the aisle for our destination wedding in San Francisco! I originally talked through some of my budget concerns for planning services and how my husband and I planned to do the front end work and were looking for someone to hand it over to the last month or so. We wanted to be able to relax and enjoy our big day, and be able to trust whomever we hired to take over and run the show. Sarah was that person!!! Sarah was great with reaching out and connecting all of our vendors, guiding me in the creation of our wedding day timeline, and offering wonderful vendor recommendations like hair, make-up, etc. We ended up changing our transportation vendor a few weeks before the wedding, and Sarah was on top of it all. In hindsight, I should have let Sarah run the whole thing from the beginning and saved myself a lot of stress and anxiety! She has a calm and relaxed presence about her that is so comforting to a stressed out bride. Sarah definitely became much more than "day of". From the start she was proactive and communicative, and her attention to detail with all facets of the plan made me feel so comfortable and confident throughout the process. A month before the date of our wedding, COVID-19 (coronavirus) became a very real global pandemic and San Francisco quickly began to ban gatherings, restaurants and hotels were closing their doors, and air travel was being strongly discouraged - it was starting to become clear that our wedding was not going to go as planned for us or our guests. Sarah stepped right in with professionalism to communicate with all of our vendors and keep us ready for the worst case scenario, while also helping me keep my poise and spirit high in dealing with such a curveball. Ultimately, our wedding has been postponed to later this year and sadly, we will not be able to work together again as she has moved on to her next chapter and taken her life back east to New York. I HIGHLY recommend Sarah to anyone in New York looking not just for a "day of" wedding coordinator but a trusted associate throughout the roller coaster that wedding planning can be - her presence cannot be overstated. All the best to you and your family, Sarah. We are lucky to have been able to work with you!
