No ticket is needed to come to this farm lots of free parking, easy going walking distance, lots of peony plants for sale for the gardens at home. I love buying a few stems of peonies to take home with me. *pro tip bring a blanket and some snacks to enjoy being surrounded by the peonies garden. One of my top points of interest while visiting Oregon is Adelman Peony Garden. It's a must visit for me because I *love love love* peonies! Parking was easy as they have plenty of parking in the front as some in the back towards the store. I got to roam around in the fields and took lots of pictures and videos. It was so lovely to see and smell the varieties of peonies. So beautiful. There's no entrance fee. I wandered through one of the fields as there were two. Lol.. My favorites are Mrs. FDR (smells so elegant almost like lychee), Coral Charm, and Bartzilla. I visited the store and bought 9 peonies for myself, my mom, sister, and best friend. They bloomed beautifully. If I'm ever in Oregon again during the same time, I would totally visit this spot again. :) read more

I've only started obsessing about peonies, because my oldest son has a plant beautifully blooming in his yard. And I got some from his GF. We had one, when we bought the house, but I didn't care for them, because the flowers were too heavy, when it rains, they all flop to the ground. It was red. This is our first visit here! May be our last, one because it's too long a line to buy flowers, and it's too far away. I love peonies, but they ran out of a lot of cut flowers, and they only come in 6/$20. (You can get more than 30 for $21.30 @ Trader Joe's) I was very happy with them, though, they have slight scent and I love coming down the stairs smelling them when I wake up! Bring your own container, add more water, remove the wrapping. Yesterday, was the perfect day, to visit the gardens! There were a lot of people picnicking on benches/tables, and a few on the grass. Bring lunch! Bring your own blanket. Don't get me wrong! I love to visit other gardens, in Oregon, and I'm glad I got to visit one PEONY garden. read more

Such a wonderful farm to visit when it's peony season (April, May & the first half of June). You can wander the fields and be amazed at all the varieties of peonies you have never heard of! They have each row marked with the variety. The wind was blowing and beautiful scent wafted in our noses. You can buy bouquets or plants, and order from their colorful catalog they give out free. The prices of the plants vary but you can find some varieties for as low as $20! That's hard to beat at your local nursery. I came home with 3 good sized peonies, 2 hydrangeas and a Bloodgood Japanese maple tree all for $155. read more

If you've never been to Adelman Peony Gardens you need to get there by mid May, for full bloom. The flowers are a SIGHT to behold. Not only that but they smell amazing and the beauty is just unending. Everywhere you look, it's pure beauty!!! I visited for the first time in mid May with my sister and was astonished at the variety and beauty of peonies they grow and sell! We thought we'd spend about an hour here, but ended up staying for almost four hours wandering the fields and taking photos. The peony bushes for sale ranged from $22-$125 depending on the variety. The staff are friendly and helpful. I thought the sale area was well organized and well run. Side note: for anyone with a hazelnut allergy, the plant sale area paths are hazelnut shells. We visited during peak peony season. And really enjoyed walking through rows and rows of beautiful and some very fragrant peonies. They have created beautiful arrangements with cut flowers, like that gorgeous truck, for picture perfect backgrounds. I think though that they could add some more things to do to make it more fun for kids visiting too - like live music, a small play area, snacks or ice cream to buy. Just saying because that has helped us keep the kids entertained at other local flower gardens, but we had a bit of a struggle here. read more

Stopped in on Mother's Day and it was really nice. Parking was easy. Entry was free. They had a building set up showing dozens (hundreds?) of peony varieties. There was a nice garden in partial bloom, and then TONS of peony fields. May 11 was a bit on the early side to see everything in bloom, so I'd say later May would really be the time to come. I'd never been to a flower farm before, so I decided to pack up the dog and a little lunch and drive the 35 minutes or so to check out this peony farm. I'm glad I did! It's a very pleasant place to wander around, admire the gardens, and the peonies of course. There's this out-building where they have all the different varieties of peonies on display, and where you make purchases. The old pickup truck filled with flowers out in front was a very busy photo-op spot, and rightly so! I didn't get a photo of it though Oops I bought a small bouquet of peonies for $25 I believe, and they lasted all week - the blooms were fluffy and luxurious. Awesome. read more

We were out visiting family so I went to get some flowers as gifts and walked away with the most beautiful small assortments for a great price. It was Memorial Weekend 2023 that I had seen on Instagram about this pretty flower garden! The atmosphere is so nice. They have free parking! Plenty of space to roam! Family friendly and pet friendly. They have a small shaded barn like area where their truck sits and then where you can purchase flowers. They also have an area- that I didn't check out of places to pick flowers for purchase. It's a nice drive. It was also a great time there! I'd recommend. They don't have multiple vendors either for food or drink however it was nice because it wasn't cluttered! We went around 10 AM on the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend! It was fairly busy but the gardens are so spread out that you could take a few moments for a photoshoot without having someone walk through! The peonies were beautiful and the gardens smelled so good! There were so many different colours and varieties. We bought a few and loved the east checkout experience (you just need the name of the peony that you'd like). They also had a coffee cart there -- the iced matcha was great. The best thing about Adelman, apart from it being a free and fun experience, is that it's dog friendly! read more

I stumbled on Adelman Peony Gardens from looking online for a specific Peony for my garden, and what a great place to find! Such a beautiful garden, very well kept, and a variety of all different beautiful flowers! The display garden is so cute! It's a tad smaller than other flower gardens I been to, but we walked around and really took in all the beauty! So much to see. They have a little area to purchase large peony trees, and then more yonder is their main peony field. Acres, and rows of hundreds of different peony's. It was pretty much the end of the season so a lot of the flowers were gone or falling over. They had some workers out in one area picking the remaining of the flowers. They then have a huge hanger - like barn that displayed all the peonys! Wow, so beautiful, and so many!! I bought a little bundle for $5 and they smelt so good and lasted for a few weeks! I picked up a booklet and been debating on ordering some for the fall. I did find the peony I was looking for, it was just a little out of my budget- It's something I'll look forward to next year! The staff was nice and helpful! I read their farm / season end was June 15, so I am happy I got to walk through and I'll definitely remember next year and visit early in May! Adelmans is the most magical place in Oregon! I love peonies and I wait ever year for Adelmans to open in May. They are only open for short time each year during blooming season. They sale potted peonies and cut peonies and a few other plants during this time. You can walk the acres of peonies in bloom and the professional landscaped area surrounding their house. Peonies are a classic flower and one of my favorites. At Adelman's, they have so many varieties, a plethora of colors, textures and combos. Visit during bloom season, mid-May to mid-June and you will marvel at the size of the blooms, their vibrant colors and how stunning they look planted amongst other flowers in their meticulously well maintained garden! There are wide grass paths that wind and meander through shade and sun gardens, magnificent blooms of peony standing out against a vibrant blue sky and contrasting with their dense, green foliage. They are planted among tall lupine and iris, whispy and delicate columbine, and low growing plants like the beautiful purple firewitch dianthus. The plants are well maintained, the soil rich and covered in dark mulch providing rich nutrients and a visual contrast to the flowers and walking path. They have added a lot of whimsy to their garden so look for it! An owl hanging from a tree, metal yard art and sculptures, garden angels, water features and benches strategically placed throughout welcoming visitors to sit, take in the vistas and enjoy the serene beauty of nature at its best. At every turn, there is another beautiful vignette, another incredible peony, another photo op! After some time I had to put my camera down and just enjoy it all live. Under the large weeping willow tree are picnic tables and a bench, the perfect spot for a picnic so plan accordingly, pack your lunch and enjoy! There are porta-potties onsite at the far end of the driveway and they are clean and well maintained. A huge plus! For those that have a garden, you can visit the indoor area to see peonies in bloom with their names so you can buy bulbs. They also sell online. Now that I live in a condo and no longer have my own beautiful British garden, I get my garden "fix" visiting Adelman's, Schreiner's Iris Garden, Crystal Spring Rhododendron Garden, and other nurseries and gardens throughout our beautiful area. The garden is located off I-5, a 45 minute ride from Portland. Free admission and lots of parking. If you are making your way there, plan on visiting Schriner's Iris Farm just 2 miles down the road; this way you can visit two gorgeous gardens, leave Portland at 10:00 and be home by 3:00 avoiding traffic. read more

I purchased six peonies from Adelman. All have produced except one, which goes to seed without ever producing a flower. I wrote to the company both years to inquire what might help. My emails were ignored. They did not acknowledge receipt, nor did they offer any explanation or advice. The second year, I wrote on the recommendation of their own employee, using the email address listed on their website. They were no help at all. Peony root stock costs about $30 each, and so I spent a substantial amount of money with them. I'm extremely disappointed with this level of customer service. If I decide to replace the peony in the future, I will shop elsewhere. read more

I went for the first time yesterday and it was just spectacular! I'd love to bring a book and a lunch and chill for a few hours in their formal display garden. They have lots of benches and picnic tables scattered around. I went on a Monday morning and was so thankful for the quiet tranquility. There are so many stunning peonies! Many are around $20, but some are $50, $80, and even more. Definitely worth it knowing they can last for decades...especially if you fall in love with a variety. In addition to the formal garden display they also have a sample of the flowers available in a display of vases. That makes it easy to compare the blossoms. You can also walk out toward the field, which is a great backdrop for photos. You can order from their catalog and the rootstock will be sent to you in the fall. OR...you can arrive early in their short one-month season to purchase more mature plants at the same price. read more

Recently I had ordered 6 peony tubers from a competitor (if you can call them that), White Flower Farms. Half my order was unacceptable and the tubers only had 2 eyes, not the 3-5 as promised. When I called for replacements they were out of the varieties I had purchased online, 2 months earlier, forcing me to look elsewhere. Who wants to wait 5 years to get a bloom, am I right?! I will say though, WFF had wonderful customer service who went out of their way to rectify the situation. Unfortunately, I needed my tubers and they couldn't supply the replacements. That's when I came across Adelman Peony Gardens online. My order was received 3 days later. They had plenty of stock to choose from, including the varieties I previously ordered from WFF. Some of the varieties were more than I paid at WFF, some of the them were less. But the difference in superiority was incredible! Even the way they packaged the tubers was superior. Adelman's packaged them in what appeared to be peat moss to keep them fresh, WFF packaged them in damp shredded newspaper. I think the side by side comparisons in the photos I included will speak for themselves. I will never go anywhere else for my peonies. My only regret is that I didn't purchase all my tubers from them to begin with. I will add photos of side by side comparisons to next Spring's plants as well. I was forced to plant the 3 tubers I kept from WFF, thinking they were decent (prior to receiving the Adelman specimens). read more

If you get a chance to actually go here during the (short but lovely!) peony season, I highly recommend it! I don't have a yard to grow flowers in, but I was able to get some freshly cut peonies, learn a lot about these flowers, and take pictures of the multiple varieties they offer. There is a lovely garden to walk through, with many places to sit and just enjoy the flowers and the views. It's a great little trip just outside of the city, but feels so serene and peaceful. read more

A beautiful farm! The rows of seemingly endless peonies are simply breathtaking! This family-run farm produces great flowers. (I'm not an expert, though.) You can buy plants at the farm by browsing the ones they have in containers, or you can order roots from their catalog. They do ship them to you. You can also see cut blooms and buy cut flowers in their showroom. The farm is open for tours in May and June every year. Each weekend they have special events and offers - this year we went on Grandma day and my aunty brought her granddaughters and got four free cut peonies. On the first and last weekend of the season, they offer discounts on their peonies in containers They offer so much information about the care of their plants and cut flowers. You can really tell that they care about their plants. So far, we've only gotten cut flowers because we have no yard (yet!). But we certainly plan to go here for our peonies when we are starting our garden. My aunty has gotten different plants here over the years and most of them are still doing well in her Beaverton garden. P.S. Their parking lot is gravel, but they keep it pretty level. read more

I have grown to love peonies and I'm lucky to live in Oregon where they bloom the best. This garden is widely recognized and awarded for their vast fields of endless types of peonies so obviously I had to pay a visit. They're open May-June 15 for free public viewing and are only a mile off of the 5 fwy. Easy access and plenty of free parking. They say peak viewing times are the 2nd-3rd week of May and also MDW. Once you park, you'll see their store to the left where they display all of the types of peonies they plant and outside to the right are the fields of peonies. You can also purchase by the stem and they have $1 and $2 specials. So cheap! They give tips on flower care and can answer any peony question you have. They also have potted peonies plants right in front of their shop that you can take home and plant in your garden. Prices on those start at $15 depending on the type of peony you want. Will definitely return when I have a home and a garden so I can plant my own peony field! read more

Aahhh, flowers, I love them! When the farmers market opens in the Spring on the PSU campus, I go each Saturday I'm in town. I go for the produce and wonderful baked products, but my favorite things are the flowers. For a month or so each June the peony's are in season. The Adelman Peony Garden sets up a booth at both the Saturday, as well as the Thursday Portland Farmers markets. I have found their flowers to be the largest, and longest lasting peony's at the market. Trust me, I have tried most of the booths there. This is a family owned farm, as are most of the farms represented at the market, which is one of the things I love! I think it's a three generation operation. I see the grandfather, father, and daughter/son working most weeks. They are so nice! Heck, one week, at the end of the day, the dad gave a bouquet to a new mom for free. I thought that was super sweet. They always give me great deals also. I haven't ordered any of their plants, just bought the flowers. I can't imagine that they would have bad quality plants given the fantastic flowers I buy from them. Sometimes, they must be 10 inches across when they open all the way. I will try to put a pic on my profile of them so you can see what I mean. They will normally last an entire week if I cut the stems, and place them in warm water with a little sugar in the vase. Ordered two peony roots online. They arrived quickly and well packaged. I planted them right away so they would be in the ground and well protected through the Winter months as I did with several other roots I had purchased from some other retailers. All the peonies came up in early Spring, all except the two from here. It's really a shame because they were beautiful flowers. I've attempted to contact them via email twice now and have yet to get a response. No mention of a slow response time with customer service on their website so I can only assume my emails are being ignored or overlooked as it's been over two weeks since my first contact. I suppose this is the risk you take when you order plants online. I'm sure if I was able to purchase directly from their store/garden my experience would have been much better. If I ever receive a response I'll be sure to update my review. read more

We've been to this farm many times over the last 10 years and the staff is always very friendly and helpful. You can tour the fields of peonies, which is pretty fun (and a workout). But near the parking area, they've got pots of peonies laid out in rows labeled by the name of the flower and big wagons that you can load up w/said pots. They're not cheap, but they're not all super expensive either. The variety is kind of staggering. They do specials throughout the season and have discounts the last weekend of the season, so look out for those. They also have a new show garden by the front house; it's a great way to see the flowers as they'd be in a garden. Even if you don't have a yard, this is a great place to come visit. read more
