When I see a sign that says "Peonies," I follow it! With their soft sherbet colors or bright vibrant hues, ruffled petals or textured cones, I love them all! Plus, they smell so good! After a day in Salem visiting Schreiner's Iris Garden (spectacular garden filled with Iris, lupine, columbine, peony) and Adelman Peony Garden (exquisite) I passed a sign for Brook Garden Peonies and followed the trail of signs pointing the way. It's a bit off the beaten path and down a long gravel road (definitely had to wash my car afterwards!) that takes you past the garden's owners home to a large parking area next to a field of peonies. Mid May to mid June is the best time to go if you want to experience the peony, and iris, if full bloom. It's a spectacular sight with a huge variety in color combinations, petal shape and texture. Nothing like spending time in the beauty of nature to breath it all in. It has a way of grounding you and giving perspective to the greater world around you. This garden is not a structured garden for viewing like you will experience at Adelman's, where they have a formal garden in front and fields of peonies in the back. This is a field where you can wonder up and down the rows and identify peonies that you like from the hundred plus varieties, many heirloom. Many prolific bloomers. Next to the field is the covered area where the owners ring up your purchases. You can purchase gallon containers for your garden and bouquets of these gorgeous and fragrant flowers for your home. The owners are so friendly and clearly enthusiastic about their farm. They genuinely want their customers to be excited and have great results with their own peonies And offer tips on how and where to plant and how to get the most blooms. for the 2021 season, they are open May 1 through June 13 on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am - 6 pm. read more

I got hit with the peonies bug. I spend more time on the internet than I'd like to admit gawking at pictures of peonies, researching planting instructions and tips, and getting lost in the multitude of varieties. A spectrum of pinks, whites, reds and a blend of said colors has my mind spinning. I want peonies in my backyard, and a pink and white garden is what I envisioned. It was a Sunday morning in October when I browsed Facebook and stumbled upon their page, and that's when I found out they were open from 10am-4pm. I rolled out of the house and made the 45 minutes trek south toward Brooks. There, I met Therese. She asked me if I knew what I wanted, and Sarah Bernhardt was what I came for. I was open to recommendations, and Therese's advanced knowledge and diverse collection of bareroots allowed me to score a Bowl of Cream, Bess Bockstoce, Salmon Glory, and two Sarah Bernhardts. Not only is she knowledgeable, she's also friendly and makes sure her customers walk away with planting tips and guides to encourage the optimal success for our planting endeavors. As for the roots, they are big and the eyes appear healthy. I have just planted them and can't wait to see the progress in spring. read more

This was a second stop after Shreiner's Gardens...and I love peonies!! From my understanding it started out as someone's backyard. Beautiful irises and peony's and I hope to take my mom her if she ever visits during May! :) She would absolutely love it. I hope to go again next year! :) read more

We actually had plans for visiting Adelmans peony garden but didn't find any in their farms so went to this place and were rewarded with atleast some peonies still blooming on the plants.There were also some pear,apple fruit trees and raspberry farms on the way.its a nice quick detour from I5 while travelling from Seattle to San Diego and we were glad we stopped here. read more

My husband has wanted to go to Brooks Gardens, so we chose a beautiful Sunday to go for a drive. We were happy to see all the beautiful peonies, plus many irises, blue spruce trees, and other plants. The plants are mostly all for sale, and we bought a beautiful iris. We were about a week or two too late to see all the peonies in their glory, so we should plan to go there earlier next year. It was a bit off the beaten path, but still fun to go see. read more
