I started getting plants and small trees at 13th St Nursery last year. Better prices than many other nurseries, and they have some small trees, like potted Big Leary maple that a person can buy more reasonably and plant small than a large, hard to manage potted trees. All that I planted last fall survived and should now have gotten a good start at rooting over the winter. I found great prices for those in the fall, best time to plant trees. Also found better Russian Sage plants that I found last year somewhere else. Staff is very helpful. Currently, nice free bag. read more

We love this nursery, as they have such a wide variety of plants and they're all healthy and reasonably priced. The shop is well stocked with all your gardening needs. I would love to give them a higher score and I get that times are strange right now but the customer service has been completely hit and miss. I have been here many times over the last two weeks as we are making a yard that is new to us "ours." One day I go in and get five star service the next time it is two star so I will go with an average of three for now. Don't get me wrong, I am totally happy they are here and that the business has been growing (no pun intended) since they bought it a few years ago. The first year I was a bit concerned that they were going to make it but this year they have very good selection of both indoor and outdoor plants and the commensurate accoutrements. But, when I go in and ask about a specific plant that I am looking for, to be told they don't have any, and then to see them planting more of said plant as I am at the checkstand, really?!? I can plant a bulb just as easily as a plant and I'm happy to do so. I have enjoyed everything I have purchased there and I will definitely go back as I enjoy having options for places to purchase all things plant related. read more

Scott was incredibly helpful! My father had gotten me cuttings from a tulip tree originally from New York! I was pretty stressed out with the pressure to make sure that these cuttings do turn into small trees! TL;DR: I can't even put into words how amazing and wonderful this place is. Go buy stuff from them right now! We have a little cactus that outgrew its pot and needed to be transplanted to a new one. We called ahead of time to make sure they could do it and were more than willing to assist! We arrived around 3:30pm on Sunday (9/27). When we showed up, the two woman (So sorry I didn't get their names!) working there were so excited we came and they could help us. I could spend an entire review just gushing about these two woman. They make this nursery feel like a place I want to come hang out at all the time- I want to be their best friends! The passion and pride they have for their jobs is just so evident. They spent a few minutes gushing about how cute the cactus is, the pot, and just getting to know us. They offered a ton of advice right off the bat about the pot we should use, information about out little cactus, the right dirt, etc. This cactus has a lot of sentimental value and they picked up on that right away. They were so reassuring and gentle and kind. While one of the workers got to replanting our little bud, the other one excited offered to show us around the nursery! She was so giddy, genuine, enthusiastic, and full of knowledge. The love she has for her work and this nursery was so clear, there are no words even possible to do her justice. We got to meet the two turtles (Shout out to Rose and Mary!) and see all the this nursery has to offer. They did a FANTASTIC job re-potting our cactus. They gave us advice about the proper dirt, insight on how to take care of her, offered some advice on fertilizer, and topped off the cactus pot with some free rocks (there is a special word for the rocks, don't remember, sorry!) This will forever and always be my go-to nursery. I want to buy dozens and dozens of plants just to ensure they always have patronage. Go here!! read more

I could not find a Rose bush anywhere in Salem-Keizer. Only 13th Street Nursery had them. Apparently I got super lucky because roses were totally out of season. My poor little bush was covered in weeds when I found her, so I personally saved her from those nasty weeds and brought her up to the counter. This lovely bush that had called out to me was on clearance! Got a great deal on a rose bush from a well known and expensive Oregon grower. So far my bush is doing great, I am very happy. :) read more

Great local nursery. The plants are all labeled by the staff and they always have someone around who can help answer questions. I bought a Julia Child rose there last year and it's beautiful this year. If you get on their email list, they send you coupons and alert you to specials and new plant arrivals. I just saved 30% b/c with an emailed coupon - bought some great perennials and a Marionberry vine. I will keep coming back here for the great individualized service and nice variety and selection of healthy plants. read more

In search of interesting indoor plants I came across this awesome nursery online and decided to stop in. They have a good selection of indoor plants, including some very unique ones, at a great cost. The staff talked to us about the plants we were purchasing, good soil, and told us about the amazing hardy kiwi plants that have been growing there for decades. this is a small family owned business. they do specialize in bonsai trees. a nice selection of annuals and perennials plants. as well as heirloom plants as vegetables. very good selection of natural fertilizers. they do carry tropical plants as well. and a wide selection of colorful pots. We're new to the area, and after hounding our local Lowe's and Home Depot for info on local plants and tips on some of the plants they were actually selling - and coming up with zero answers - we happened across -13th Street Nursery the other day and stopped in. We found the hops we had been searching high and low for (in three different varieties!) had a long talk with a woman who worked there about them and got lots of info and tips AND she gave us a great deal on them. We also bought some beautiful marigolds and a few other misc outdoor plants and got to talk with a man I assume was the owner about my selections and his suggestions. He also kindly let my two toddlers pick out some pretty wind spinners because they were "so well behaved" (note, they really were not). We'll certainly be back to such a warm and welcoming place where people obviously love plants and what they do. Bonus, they had some rad eighties music playing the whole time. read more

This is a smallish nursery and garden shop. Prices are a bit higher than other similar locations. The staff is pretty friendly and able to answer questions. I think their hours may be a little more flexible than some other local shops. read more
