A spectrum of pinks, whites, reds and a blend of said colors has my mind spinning. I want peonies in my backyard, and a pink and white garden is what I envisioned. It was a Sunday morning in October when I browsed Facebook and stumbled upon their page, and that's when I found out they were open from 10am-4pm. I rolled out of the house and made the 45 minutes trek south toward Brooks. There, I met Therese. She asked me if I knew what I wanted, and Sarah Bernhardt was what I came for. I was open to recommendations, and Therese's advanced knowledge and diverse collection of bareroots allowed me to score a Bowl of Cream, Bess Bockstoce, Salmon Glory, and two Sarah Bernhardts. Not only is she knowledgeable, she's also friendly and makes sure her customers walk away with planting tips and guides to encourage the optimal success for our planting endeavors. All that I planted last fall survived and should now have gotten a good start at rooting over the winter. I found great prices for those in the fall, best time to plant trees. Also found better Russian Sage plants that I found last year somewhere else. Staff is very helpful. Currently, nice free bag.

My partner has a brown/black thumb when it comes to plants, so she was super thrilled that she actually got one to live and thrive. We had checked out another nursey, which generally we love going to because the grounds are nice and they have a huge selection, but their pottery wasn't quite what we were looking for. At Terra Gardens, we found the same pottery as the other location, but also plenty of other styles. And, we noted, the prices were significantly less at Terra Gardens. My partner found a pot that she fell in love with. We wandered with our children some, but I don't think we hit half of the location. We were running errands all over that day, but we look forward to coming back and seeing what else is here. Especially now that my partner is more and more interested in taking up gardening and planting.

While the shop itself is small, the energy within packs a punch. It could've also been the new (6 mos.) shop owner (I forget, was it 'Eddie'?). The vibe was fun with playful decor and accessories throughout. I really enjoyed the easy conversation and her product knowledge. My gift of gab extended beyond the regular business hours, so I grabbed my purchases, made note of my new 'wishlisted' plants, and bid my new friend adieu. This shop is tucked in the strip mall down from the Keizer post office next to UPS, where holiday business is sure to start ramping up. Go show some love and adopt a new green friend for yourself! Wishing them all the success in this local small business.

I nearly slammed on my breaks and trotted on in. This is smaller than some of the other area nurseries as it is just one greenhouse open for shopping, but the greenhouse itself is large and filled with all sorts of good stuff! They seemed to have more annual flowers than anything else, but it was also early in the season for vegetables and I got the impression they would have more as things warmed up. Noteable finds for me were epazote and summer savory (two herbs I have sought near and far but to no avail until now!) along with many more herbs, a large variety of peppers and tomatoes, colorful stocks, strawberries, and many marigolds (including my favorite, strawberry blonde). Oh and they had the requisite hanging baskets found everywhere this time of year. Prices here were some of the cheapest I have seen, with many plants under $2. Employees were quick at checkout, and this was a nice alternative to some of the other, busier nurseries. It felt more open and easier to navigate.
