I was expecting pretty, but what we got was stunning! I was incredibly surprised and pleased to see a sea of lupine taller than me as far as the eye could see! We were there the third weekend in May. The irises and anenomes were probably a little bit better the weekend before but the lupine was breathtaking and there were so many other beautifully blooming plants and trees to take in. We've been home 2 days now and the bouquet of flowers we bought are just starting to open up. I can't wait to return next year!

We were shopping in Woodburn and had some time to kill and remembered Schreiner's Garden from seeing it on social media. It was only a few miles away and was easy to get to. The entrance fee is $6.00, very reasonable. There was plenty of seating and benches to enjoy the gardens. We entered and immediately my daughter and I were overwhelmed by the beauty of the gardens. Beautiful colors everywhere with large walking paths, so many gorgeous varieties. We walked down the path to the secret garden and also the iris fields. We will definitely go back!!

truly stunning, one of a kind place. the lupines shocked me as well as the clematis vines. never seen flowers so massive. lupines had strong bold stocks. I would've come out with a million bulbs if I could have. So happy we made the time to visit during the blooming season. Drove hours to make the trip. So worth it.

Beautiful flowers! Admission is $8 per person. Open until 6pm. Went towards the end of the day. Very enjoyable, wasn't busy at all.

Schreiner's has been growing irises since the 1920s. Every year in May they have a garden festival to showcase their garden and the extensive variety of irises they grow. If you want to plant irises you really should go and see all the varieties in bloom so you can chose what to plant for the next year. If planting isn't your thing but you love flowers you will be dizzied by the magnificent flowers and you can take home a huge bouquet of cut irises.

Beautiful gardens. 3 food trucks (pizza, sweets and ice cream, and coffee/bubble tea/ and more, plus spirits and wine tasting! Lots of clean portapotty with wash stations. Small gift shop with cut flowers or potted Iris to purchase. Lots of seating ourdoors to relax. $10 admission on weekends and $5 weekday but more sure if food carts are then during the week. Family friendly and a great atmosphere. Kind and diverse people all around.

This was the perfect way to celebrate mom. Due to COVID you had to make reservations and pre-purchase tickets. You were give the option to pre-purchase a boquet of iries to pick up. We told my mom nothing of the day beforehand. Was she surpirsed and delighted. The grounds were beautifully manicured and easy to navigate. The majority of the paths are grassy so unlike the tulip farms you didn't have to worry about getting dirty. Who would have known there were so many different types of irises. All so different and beautiful. There are plenty of picnic tables scatered throughout. I would suggest brining a picnic and hanging out.

We took a gorgeous serene walk in the Iris garden today with my parents. I took this opportunity to take a bunch of pictures that Do Not do the beauty of the flowers any justice! You must see it for yourself. The clean manicured garden walkways lined with an array of clearly labeled flowers displayed and grouped together with such thought make this garden so inviting and relaxing. You can grab a catalog upon entry and take note of your favorites to purchase at the end. They have a bunch of Adirondack chairs sprinkled throughout the garden so you can just sit and gaze or snap a few photos. There are also plenty of picnic tables to have a snack as you take in all the beautiful flower varieties. We took home a few bunches of the gorgeous Iris variety from the gift shop that mom pre purchased when she brought the tickets ahead of time Online. I absolutely love springtime in Oregon and this is a wonderful reminder of the nature we are surrounded by. If you get the chance to have a relaxing day gallivanting in the garden, I recommend you take time to stop and smell the flowers!

I've never been to Schreiner's but I've been ordering Irises from them for a few years now and the quality is jaw dropping. There is no flower that compares to the Iris and the ones from Schreiner's always show up in tact and bloom beautifully.

Perfect spot to picnic, tables provided.

No better way to spend a day and welcome Spring than strolling through Schreiner's Iris Garden! My absolute favorite garden! It is evident that this lovely garden is meticulously cared for with love. There are easy grass walking paths with bright colorful benches everywhere inviting you to wander and sit, taking in all of nature's beauty. There are show-stopping and prize winning Iris of every imaginable color! Pale peach, deep orange, midnight black, the palest blue, whisper yellow, royal purple, bright yellow, lavender, white and more. The "beards" come in just as many colors! The iris are nestled amongst other beautiful flowers like the tall lupine, vibrant peonies the size of dinner plates, huge clematis growing on trellises, bright California poppy and so much more. It's truly a slice of paradise. The grounds are well maintained and they transport you to a different place. Old trees stand proud around the perimeter, their huge branches providing glorious shade over the picnic area where there are several clean, white picnic tables, Adirondack chairs and benches. Perfect spot for a picnic, looking over the garden. The day I went was cloudy and misty, but the garden was still spectacular, drops of rain clinging to the iris petals. A group of 12 met there, each bringing items to contribute to lunch. After wandering through the garden, and for me, snapping lots of pictures, we enjoyed a long and leisurely lunch of delicious food and good conversation. The owners came out and joined us as friends of mine know them. They are lovely and truly have a passion for what they do. For those that want to buy bulbs for their own garden, there is an entire area where Iris are displayed under a tent, each marked with their name and year, so you can select bulbs to plant in your garden. Next to this area are cut stems to make bouquets. Stems are a $1 a piece or $8 for a dozen. Get a dozen! Each stem is tall, sturdy, and has five blooms! The bouquet lasts 7-10 days and the colors are amazing. Make sure to visit the gift shop where they sell lots of items for the garden lover, many in an iris palette. There was a green umbrella covered in blue and purple iris that opened up in reverse, so you can shut it without getting rain in the car. It looks like a Van Gogh painting. I bought two! One for me, one for a friend. Across the street are acres and acres of colorful iris that are grown for commercial sale. Check it out just to take in the vision of color in mass! The cost for admission is a mere $5 per car, not per person as some other farms charge, per car. What a bargain! For the price of a cup of coffee you can spend a leisurely day enjoying so much beauty. In May there are several festivals, according to their website, during Mother's Day and Memorial Day weekends. While I enjoyed a mid week visit when it was not crowded, I will probably go back over Memorial Day since there will be local crafters, nestled in the garden, selling their treasures. Schreiner's Iris Garden is the prettiest of all the gardens that I have visited, and I have seen lots! I can not say enough about this place! If you enjoy flowers, if you love gardens, if you enjoy a picnic amongst a gorgeous setting, go to Schreiner's! I'm so grateful that friends invited me to their annual picnic and now it will become a yearly tradition for me. I am already planning on going back again next week with other friends, on a sunny day, so I can take pics of the iris against a bright blue sky. There is a peony farm just 2 miles down the road and we will visit that garden as well. Who knew that just 45 minutes from Portland was a slice of Heaven?!

    Flo R.

Priced at $5 per person for normal hours. $10 from 7am - 9am. There were so many beautiful iris. Spent about an hour here. Probably could have spent a little bit longer if it weren't the last weekend and some of the flowers weren't already sunk kerplunked. I would come back here again but try to get in before the last weekend.

Whale's Tale tall bearded iris from Schreiner's Iris Gardens in Salem, Oregon

My sister and I went here for the first time today. The gardens are amazing. Bring your camera or fully charged camera phone because you are going to want to take pictures. Here's what they don't tell you: Go into the gift shop/barn first. As you enter there is a table of clipboards. If there any chance you are going to be buying irises today or in the future you are going to want to write down the names of your favorites. You could also take photos of the names of your favorite bulbs with your phone. You will need it later. Second, If you are in a power wheelchair you can move around on the short grass and later a dirt path. However, if you are in a push wheelchair it is very difficult to push you around. I had to get up and push my wheelchair around and then sit down when I got winded. They have plenty of seating but it's all along one pathway and would be better distributed throughout the gardens so you could sit in the shade in different areas. Old people get tired! Third: There is no apparent organizations system in the sales area for finding the potted iris you want to buy. You have to walk up and down every aisle, reading every tag, to find what you are looking for so it is actually easier to just order online. Finally, they have numerous port-a-potties by the entrance and gift shop. They were very clean. I believe that there is a true disabled friendly restroom as well. Totally worth the $6 admission. Wear your sunscreen. I saw an ice cream truck and a latte stand in the parking lot. Very beautiful and relaxing. Not far off Interstate 5. The gift stand sells t-shirts, post cards, puzzles, soap, stickers, cut flowers, potted flowers and more. What's not to love?

If you haven't visited this garden, then I really must insist, go! Go in mid-May when the irises are in full bloom. I promise, you will be so pleased that you visited that you might want to personally thank me for my wisdom. The garden is a lovely, easily walkable design. It's grassy so there will be no mucking about in dirt. There are brightly colored benches galore and a few picnic tables sprinkled about. On a nice day, bring a picnic with you or visit the food stand on site. When my mom and I visited, it was a crappy, rainy day. This was actually quite great because the parking lot was nearly empty as was the garden. The raindrops on the flowers just added interest to the photographs. As of today, May 16th 2016, the garden is in full bloom. Rain or shine, get yourself there for a visit ASAP. 2016 - Review # 41

This place was packed, and while the parking near the front of the retail space may fill, thankfully if you venture just a little further on you'll find another area. They had a great mix of plants, leaning most heavily on annuals and more houseplants than I would have expected. Noteable finds were a variety of daphne, big beautiful gallon size dahlias, a good range of smaller perennials (I snatched up three varieties of dianthus!) and herbs, large and inexpensive violas, and beautiful rex begonias. I also spotted a very large pineapple guava and nice size azaleas. Of course, they had the requisite hanging baskets too. Again, this place was really busy, but there were plenty of employees to assist, and I even saw one make sure an older waiting customer was okay, offering a chair as she'd been standing for a while. All the customers here seemed especially happy and excited. It was a fun place to shop alongside them. The only negative I can give is that many people had wagons and there is no extra space to pass two wagons along the same row in the greenhouses, but everyone was so darn courteous it was not a big deal. They also had flat boxes conveniently placed around and I would opt to just carry a box around if you can.

In addition to the absolutely insane amount of hostas, they also had more varieties of ferns, astilbe and epimedium than I have ever seen gathered in one place. I quickly filled a basket with my selections, then loped along, arms overflowing with additional plants that didn't fit. There were a couple customers in line as I was paying, and we all laughed about trying to limit your purchases by only using a basket. Learn from my mistakes and opt for the carts! Anyways, I ended up with a beautiful golden geum, three hardy fuchsias, two yellow wonder strawberries, a red (Valentine) bleeding heart, striped lily of the valley, a hardy begonia, and dancing geisha dianthus. They had all the kooky, fun plant varieties that I am always seeking, in addition to their more standard counterparts. They also had limited bushes and trees, and some pretty display gardens and landscaping to serve as inspiration. Prices are comparable to other nurseries, in some cases lower. The gentleman who assisted me at checkout was friendly and nice, and Sebright just felt like such a pleasant place to shop as all the customers were so sweet and echoed excitement about everyone else's finds in addition to their own. Sebrights are my favorite chickens. Just look one up and tell me they aren't the cutest! You know this nursery must be good if they share a moniker. Lastly, while they don't have a specific date they open for the season each year, for 2022 it was the end of March, and they said that is about in line with what they normally do.
