I have visited this place twice now and find it to be filled with a great variety of plants and trees. The huge drawback I have is that it is spread out to the degree that it is painful for many to navigate. If you are a senior and have limited abilities, you should be prepared to walk a lot hauling a heavy cart. If they could have a greater selection in a compact space they would better serve those of us that aren't ready to hike hundreds of yards for our plants. read more

This nursery is amazing and has a large array of bushes, trees and various plants. Their prices are incredibly low considering how lush and healthy the plants are. The property is quite large so make sure you are ready to walk quite a bit to see everything they offer. Their sales people are very knowledgeable and helped me find a few things I needed and wanted. Good Lord! What a wonderful shopping experience! We happened to hit it on the last day of their sale with everything 20% off. They have a great selection of plants, laid out really nicely and the friendly staff provided us with a laminated map with all the assigned sections circled for ease. We lost a few trees this rough season and always passed by going north on Hwy 5. So checked Yelp and saw decent ratings today. Location. Well, getting here was not easy. There really is no exit off the 5 that drops you off here. My WAZE app came in handy and it was a nice day to take back roads. It was worth the trip. Once we got there, we were greeted by a super nice woman. We told here what type of tree (dogwood) we were looking for. She gave us a map and a ribbon for the tree if we found one. They had a great selection and we found a perfect one. Tons other trees too. The dogwoods were with the Japanese maples which we also like. Many varieties there. On our way out we also found a few plants for the back yard. The same woman checked us out. Great sense of humor and she asked us about where we were putting the plants to ensure they got the correct amount of sun. They have huge carts for the plants, but also saw a guy with a tractor that probably helps load you up too. Great variety of plants and trees, great staff, location not convenient, but worth the drive. read more

Bought 4 Dwarf blue spruce trees from them last season. All had a root pathegon issues caught severe branch death. This was confirmed by an arborist for a tree service in Portland, Or. I contacted Garden World. They did not stand behind their product. I'm out $600 for the trees and $1000 for the planting of those trees by a professional tree service in the area. We have seen Garden World many times and have always wanted to check it out. We went having high expectations. Unfortunately, we left because of high prices, rude staff, and unhealthy trees. Seeing many of the tree leaves with dark spots we were understandably concerned about paying so much for a possible DOA. We asked one of the attendees about a guarantee. She said there was not one and past 14 days they cannot guarantee against poor watering, wrong placement, or bad soil. Her attitude came across as though we would obviously make those mistakes. With that we decided to look somewhere else. *The prices were 2 to 3 times what we found elsewhere. read more

Have purchased plants from them on three seperate occasions. They not only take good care of their plant material but offer not only plants in sizes one would be hard pressed to find in the area but also unusual, hard to find plant material. Prices (as mentioned else where) are lower than many other retail locations. Well worth the trip from Portland! However, while the staff is friendly and knowledgable this is not a----let's look at the funny pink flamingos while we sip our lattes, while whe watch the apple tasting festivities, and listen to the pollinator lecture---type of nursery. They sell plants.... not "venues for entertainment or leisure". So please don't go expecting a pack of sparkly-eyed plant affeciandos walking you around by the hand telling you what you should buy while strumming minstrels serenade you. If you do, you will be disssappointed. However if you know what you want and are looking for large size and / or unsual plant material you will be very happy here! read more

This place has trees, shrubs etc. like a lot of different places in the area. So really, the only way to make an impression is with customer service. What a joke!! Good Prices, Good Quality, Great Website, good customer service, & Inconvenient location. I am an ISA Certified Arborist and I have planted a lot of trees in my day. Mostly I purchase from wholesale nurseries, but when I do need to get something retail this is one of the places I look . One of the greatest things about Garden World is their online inventory. It is pretty realistic and there are pictures of the plants so you are not left guessing at how large everything is. I find the quality to be good especially for trees and when it is questionable the items are usually discounted to reflect that. The prices are not wholesale but better than most retail. The experience is pretty wholesale with limited customer service. I find it is best to shop online and have the plants put into will call because they do a good job at selecting the best stock. Then if you don't like something ask them to switch it out. It is a drive if you live in Portland so better choice for when you are buying a fair quantity of items. read more

Portland seems to require a decoder ring to find trees. The City recommends street trees, and not a single nursery (retail) carries them. Had to order Silver-leaf Oak out of AZ. So then I needed a screen. Much research later, Thuja Green Giant was the best choice. I searched high and low, and FINALLY found Garden World online. And they have an online inventory that is actually (as it turns out) accurate! Wow! Online, and accurate. That's 2 in their favor already. It was T-day holiday week, so left a VM to see if they REALLY have 22 of these trees. Got a call the next week, and yup... they got 'em. Three out of three! Drove down from Portland... nice easy and very pleasant drive, lots of country, etc. I guess if you're running madly from job to job or whatever, it could seem out of the way. But for me, it was a nice Saturday drive. The fellow tending it came out and met me as I walked up. We walked out together to the trees (my choice... he was willing to bring them to me), and picked out 4 nice little Thuja. They were 1-gal size, only $9.95 each. Fit in the trunk of my little red car, and off we went. They were in the ground that same afternoon. It was a pleasant experience all the way around. The fellow that helped me was friendly, easy-going, knew his stuff. Again, just a great experience. I'm about out of room for trees in my wee yard, so hard to say if I'll ever need to, but perhaps I'll search some evergreen vines next. I'll be starting here! read more

My boyfriend and I recently moved to the area, and we were looking to spruce up our fairly blank landscape. We decided to check out Garden World, and we were quite pleased with our experience! I always like to shop online and get some ideas before I make any serious purchases, so I checked out their website. They have their inventory listed online, along with tons of helpful information, which made our shopping experience so much easier :) They have a huge selection, and the pricing was really reasonable in comparison to what we'd seen elsewhere. One of the horticulturalists walked around with us for over an hour- helping us find some perennials, grasses, and even a few trees! Our only hang-up was having a bit of trouble finding the entrance to the nursery- (even though you can see it from the highway, you have to make a few turns before you get there) so make sure you print out directions before you go :) read more

Our experience at Garden World was exceptional. We were greeted as we walked in by Zach. He was well educated on the trees/plants, able to answer all of our questions and made great suggestions based on our needs without any pressure to buy. The trees/plants looked healthy, the grounds were well maintained, easy to navigate and overall, attractive. Best of all, the prices were very fair. We bought a few plants (all that would fit in our car this trip,) and will absolutely be back, as it was worth the 30 min drive!!! read more
