What a beautiful home! I treated my boyfriend to a couple of days here as a birthday treat (and as…read morea "thanks for spending your actual birthday with me and all my relatives at our family reunion hundreds of miles from home" treat). With one of the Frank Lloyd Wright packages purchased in advance, we were able to spend some time in this little town right outside of Pittsburgh and one full morning at Wright's masterpiece, the Fallingwater house (which has now officially been declared priceless!) The bed and breakfast's website will have you convinced that West Newton, PA is a gorgeous riverside town. Don't believe the hype. While it's okay, the town is nothing to look at it not exactly walkable. Between the Victorian home and the "downtown" area, we were hard-pressed to find any sidewalks. We did take the hotel manager's advice and rent some bikes (okay, I admit it--we were cheesy and got a bicycle built for two) in order to ride along the pretty bike path that runs along the Youghiogheny River. (Don't worry--you can just call it by its nickname, "the Yock.") Apart from the town being relatively desolate (hardly anything was open) and unattractive, the b&b was oozing with charm. We weren't sickened by it, however. We had a GIGANTIC, ornately carved king-sized bed, a big bathroom with a whirlpool tub (note: no shower--I assumed that there would be one, but only some rooms have 'em), and the WHOLE HOUSE TO OURSELVES. That's right. No one was in any of the other four rooms, and the owner and manager live off-site. Glory be! We felt rich and famous for two days. I feel terrible for forgetting her name, but the woman who arrived bright and early to serve us breakfast at whatever time we desired it was really friendly, funny, and kind. She asked us in advance if the next day's meal would suit us and gave us tips about the area. (She even gave me a slight discount on the two-day Wright package since we didn't have enough time to go to two different FLW sites.) Overall, it was a lovely experience. I would highly endorse a trip there if you're going to be in Pittsburgh (or are from Pittsburgh) and want a quick getaway where you will either leave the hotel most of the day to explore the luxuriously beautiful Laurel Canyons region OR if you're just going to stay in the hotel all day long (insert low growl noise). If you're traveling from far away and want a more picturesque vacation destination b&b in the Laurel Highlands, I'd look at this helpful website: http://www.laurelhighlands.org/ Happy bedding & breakfasting!

Our hosts couldn't have been kinder or more helpful! Not only did they prepare perfect meals, and have a lovely room, they told us about the history of the inn, and helped us find local genealogists who could help us on our search. After all, they are on Balsinger Road, and I was looking for Balsinger ancestors! :-) We enjoyed walking around the beautiful property in the evenings. They had to laugh when I asked if there was any place nearby who sold rocks. I told them I liked to save rocks from places that are meaningful to me. I explained that my part of Texas has few rocks but lots of clay. They were still smiling when they said "we have a great big pile of rocks out back, so help yourself!" (I really wanted just two) I thought that was really sweet and thoughtful! I was very sad when I read the really negative review of their B&B and of them personally. They were nothing but kind to us. We love B&B's and always try to be guests that would be welcomed in someone's home, and give our hosts as good an experience with us as we would like to receive from them.

This review is based off of my experience of staying at the Inne for one night in July. We also had…read moreour wedding ceremony and reception here. First, some of these previous reviews are a bit harsh. I would like to mention that the innkeepers, Nancy and Bill, do run an extremely tight ship here at the Inne. With that being said, the moment you step on the property you would understand why. The outdoor areas are beautiful, and impeccably well maintained. Once you walk inside, you will notice antiques galore. There is nothing about this bed and breakfast that is overlooked or not taken care of. It's extremely clean, and they are still taking covid percussions. As you book your stay you will notice that this isn't a "Hampton Inn establishment" Nancy, the innkeeper keeps track of everything on her own, mostly with pen and paper. Nothing here is done at morph speed, and based off of other reviews, it seems as though some guests take this the wrong way. When you arrive, the innkeeper will meet you in person and ask you what you would like to drink for breakfast the next day and if you would prefer a 8AM, or 9AM dining time. This was my first time staying at a bed and breakfast, so I didn't really know what to expect. We stayed in the "Laurel Suite" which is also known as the honeymoon suite. It was $199 for the night, and most certainly worth it. The bed was giant, with a huge sitting area and private bathroom with jacuzzi tub. I was really pleased with how quiet the Inne was, we slept great! It was tough, but I managed to plan for all of the other rooms in the Inne to be booked by family and friends staying for our wedding, this was one of my favorite parts of the whole weekend! Just being able to be together for the wedding, know we were all safe, and then eat breakfast the next day was amazing. We also took full advantage of the beautiful firepit outside, we sat out there pretty late and just enjoyed the peace and quiet of the surrounding farmland. The next morning for breakfast I was very happy with what the innkeepers prepared for us, again, it was Nancy and Bill making the food and bringing it to our tables themselves. They do it all! Beautifully presented stuffed french toast. This wasn't an optional meal choice, but they did ask if each guest wanted sausage or not (which appeared to be high quality) Ultimately, our stay was great. We had a wonderful wedding and a wonderful stay. The area itself, although it may not feel like it on the property, is still in Uniontown PA which is a very slow paced town (I can say this, I grew up here) Uniontown is a very old school town, and for the reviewers to say they are not welcome here, I could understand the feeling but also would like to say as the bride who booked the entire bed and breakfast, spent lots of money, and stayed here... I still didn't get the "Hi, so happy you're here" feeling from the Inne. The personalities here are quite serious, and to the point. I am telling you, don't take it personally. Their home is attached to the Inne, and they take everything that happens here very seriously - along with who stays here, they just care deeply about the Inne, and after staying and seeing how involved they are, I can understand the personalities described a bit more - they're busy people, trying to keep this place in perfect shape. If you are someone traveling from out of town, visiting Ohiopyle, or other destinations in the area - this is a wonderful, beautiful, quaint place to stay. Don't expect anything to be "at your finger tips" like we tend to do these days, booking here is like you take a step back in time. To me, once we got through the booking and planning, everything was smooth sailing. Rooms are nice, clean and affordable - and breakfast is provided! The outdoor areas may not have a pool or anything, but there are hammocks, 0 gravity chairs, and other nice perks. Please be mindful when booking, I would ask if there is a wedding going on that evening - you might not have the peaceful stay that I described in my review (since we were the ones up late that night and there was no one else staying at the Inne)

Polk as well as other national and foreign leaders. Since 1945 the inn has been owned by the Harrington family. Unfortunately, in 2015 a fire gutted the interior of the inn, but in the next 2.5 years, a team of architects and specialist builders rebuilt the inn. The Inn contains seven guest rooms, each of which has a private bathroom and gas fireplace and includes breakfast. Rates vary by room but are roughly a couple hundred dollars per night. My husband and I did not stay in a room here, but we did eat dinner here. I had to make the reservation via a phone call. Perhaps the restaurant could start online reservations or do phone-call reminders. Please note that meals currently include dinner on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays and brunch on Sundays. When my husband and I arrived at the inn, we parked our vehicle in a small parking lot across the street. The time was 7:30 PM in the winter, so the exterior of the inn looked dark but still beautiful. In the entrance a seating hostess kindly greeted us and seated us at a table in the garden room. The inn contained some other nicely decorated dining rooms, which I later explored. The inn looked so historically accurate that I would never have guessed that a fire had occurred. I appreciated seeing the original stones on some walls, a fireplace, and the floor, which had been worn low after hundreds of years of thousands of people walking on it. I felt very interested in seeing the interior design, oil paintings, and Christmas decor. I rate the setting as 5 stars. I also rate the service as 5 stars. Our waitress promptly served us and spoke nicely with us. The menu had sections for Beginning (Cheese and Charcuterie, Duck Confit, Giardiniera, and Escargot), In Between (Century Inn Greens, Spinach Salad, Peanut Soup, and Daily Soup), and Main (Fettuccini, Crabcakes, Pork Tenderloin, Coulette Steak, and Airline Chicken Breast). Another customer had to ask the waitress if foods were gluten-free, so I recommend that the restaurant add that nutritional information to the menu. Separate menus listed desserts, beers, wines, and scotches. Here are my ratings for what my husband and I ate: Cheese & Charcuterie - 4.5 stars - This starter platter contained two meats, two cheeses, blueberries, strawberries, raisins, and warm bread. Peanut Soup - 4.5 stars - I ordered a cup rather than a bowl, and it was still a good size. I rarely eat peanut soup, but I enjoyed its flavors. Spinach Salad - 4.5 stars - This salad contained spinach, dried cranberries, walnuts, feta, and champagne vinaigrette. Crab cakes - 5 stars - Three small-medium crab cakes were very meaty and tasted delicious. The sides were asparagus and spicy red-pepper couscous. Airline Chicken Breast - 3 stars - My husband ate this entree of chicken with Chardonnay-leek sauce, and I tasted one bite of it. He described it as "plain," and I agree that it needed more flavor. Its sides were sour zucchini and a delicious wild rice. We skipped desserts and drinks. The total price was $101 plus tax and tip. (For our main courses, our receipt says different prices than does the online menu. The restaurant should fix that discrepancy.)

There are acres and acres of beautiful trails to walk, a large pond full of fish, an awesome bonfire and outdoor bar, as well as a beautiful barn on the land. The space is utterly perfect for country or outdoor weddings! I cannot wait to visit again - both for professional reasons and for personal!
