Pay to sit here or be screamed at by a lifeguard on an ego trip!
Leigh S.

We went last year and based off of that would have given 5 stars. I mean, that's why we went back! This time, the staff was incredibly rude. A lifeguard screamed at me for sitting in a shaded area that was apparently to be rented. In front of everyone. It was embarrassing. I would have gladly paid to sit there had I known, but there was no signage and I had sat there last year without issue. Not to mention that the pool had very few people there at that time and many of these seats were open. A simple request for me to move would have sufficed (pic of where NOT to sit unless you pay in advance included). That was day 1 so I was already over the trip. Moving on to day 2. I hate camping but some of the amenities here make up for my misery. Their pizza? Had it last year and it was SO good! Since I was fed up with eating over our grill, I walked to the restaurant and got a cheese pizza. It was so burned I ate half a slice and gave the rest to my dog. There was only 1 pizza in my 44 years that was as bad as this one. When I made note of this, I was messaged that my FB message and email would "Get me nowhere," and that everyone "Loved their pizza and this is how it's supposed to look." I have posted a pic so I'll let whoever is reading this decide. Anyways, it was cheap but I was craving it and we all know how disappointing that can be. The wine and moonshine tasting made up for this but not the snowless tubing. Last year? So fun! This year? No bubbles/suds and my son and husband went down and got stuck and noted that it was actually painful. Didn't want to complain or ask why since I've now been ripped apart by staff 2 times in 2 days. Happy to be home. Happy to never go back. Happy to pass this along so you are better prepared than I was.

4x4 Adventure Ride

We stayed here for our summer vacation 5 days. Was an overall great experience. Never running out of things to do. Stayed in a cabin and it was exactly what we wanted, full kitchen, beds, A/C. We loved the cabin. We did water slides, snowless snow tubing, swimming pools, 4x4 adventure and they had plenty more to do. We enjoyed it all. Great selection at the store and hand dipped ice cream. They also sell firewood ($6/7-9 pieces) but there are a few people just down the road that sell it MUCH cheaper($10/35-40 pieces). Another great thing, and if you camp you can relate, the people leave you ALONE, they don't come hassle you about alcohol or parking in the grass or anything. I suppose if I had to complain I'd say place a little nicer fire rings at the cabins, when you pay $215/night the fire pit should be more than a rusted thru old wheel, but that was minor and I really didn't mind much. Quiet time is 11pm, not 9pm like another yelper posed. Also, the lower set of water slides are a little dated but it's because they are historic to the park and they are still a blast. The upper water park is very modern and is huge. Bottom line, we will be back. It beats the beach if you hate sand and sweltering heat.

This has been by far my favorite kid friendly campground since we started doing RV trips in the past 3 years. They have multiple swimming pools and water slides. Their game rooms have pool tables, air hockey, pinball, and so many other fun games. All weekend they play movies at the outdoor theater at night. They played homeward bound on one night, Moana, and I cannot remember the third night. Think it was either minions or trolls. You don't evened yo leave the resort. The kids had the best time and so did us adults. I just wish this campground was closer but it's over 4 hours away. Definitely need to go over a full 3 day weekend at least. Love this campground.

My sweet little glamper

Would be a good family option outside of COVID times. However, given its geographic location, in a lawless part of PA, there is refusal to believe COVID exists and few care about being careful. Staff doesn't hold non-mask wearers accountable indoors, they still run several hay/bread basket/4x4 rides without any distancing. Other reviews right, this is a golf cart park basically. If they'd move to electric-only carts it would move this review up a full star. Loud gas carts annoying during an outdoor marshmallow cookout. Did not find the staff rude, like other more sensitive guests have said. Cabin was nice. Few too many spiders, but nice. Oh, absolutely no fish in that pond. What a joke.

I love yogi bear and the campground. We love the new sites too! BUT the upper manager kicked everyone out of the cabana seats at 330?? Grandparents were sitting in them and there were many open seats the last day for the pool. They have 0 signs saying they must pay $25 to sit in them.

Just spent 2014 Memorial Day weekend here and overall it was a fun and pleasurable time. Staff was very nice and attentive, bathrooms very clean, big campground and plenty for the kids to enjoy and do. My only cons... You have to pay to use their showers and the roads to your campsite are too narrow, making backing in your RV a task. I do recommend.

The terrain was challenging at times with rocks and fallen logs that required climbing. Areas also very muddy that could not be avoided. The path is clearly marked and getting lost would be something someone did on purpose! Across the street from falling water, the parking lot is behind the barn. Multiple trails of varying difficulty. Would definitely visit again.

This place is amazing!! A big thanks to Susan D and her list of hiking places for pointing it out! This is not to be missed if you're looking for some outdoor adventure and some great hiking along miles and miles of trails. We drove out here solely to spend a great fall day in the woods. Armed with trail maps we got online we picked out roughly the miles we wanted to hike and started off. What surprised us was the condition of the trails - amazing! Some were pine covered making for soft comfortable walking. Others were moss or grass covered and a few had some loose rock that you had to be careful with. I know this is Laurel Mountain but I was amazed to be hiking through dense forests of spectacular mountain laurel and rhododendron. What a gorgeous place! We were there after all the leaves were gone but we are sure to come back when the place is in bloom or in full fall color. We didn't run into a single person anywhere during our extensive hike ( we enjoyed it so much we went far beyond our initial hiking plan!). If you enjoy hiking and being outdoors, I highly recommend you give Bear Run a try. It's worth the drive!!

Motoring in my rented SUV through the gorgeous Laurel Highlands region, I had roughly an hour to drive the seven miles between the two homes right through this park. Right in the heart is a most worthwhile stop, Ohiopyle Falls, a twenty-foot waterfall that spans the wide Youghiogheny River over a couple of dramatic levels. The parking lot was huge and pretty empty, and it was a quick stroll to the broad observation decks that jut out over the river. There was a group of kayakers huddled together as they were preparing to navigate the whitewater torrents. The hamlet of Ohiopyle provides a welcome coffee break. We explained that the State Park Ranger had assigned the site upon checkin and mentioned nothing about a "No Dog Zone". They indicated that since we were checking out the next morning we would have to move. The officers were very nice however them being so heavily armed was a bit unnerving!! In Pennsylvania state parks, dogs are generally not allowed in swimming areas, inside buildings, or in designated non-pet overnight areas like cabins and group tenting areas. They are also prohibited in any area specifically designated as closed to pets. Responsible pet ownership is expected, meaning dogs must be leashed, attended, and their waste must be cleaned up!!! After a seven hour multi state slough we finally arrived at Ohiopyle State Park in PA. Site 139 was an easy back in however due to an afternoon thunderstorm there's no power to the campground upon our arrival but thankfully it came back on a short while ago! We've decided to enjoy a second day exploring the river, local sites etc. Really enjoyed our stay. While the entry roads are a bit tight the facilities were clean plus the staff was amazingly friendly. Highly recommended.

Nestled in the heart of the Laurel Highlands, these upgraded suites embody a seamless blend of modern elegance and rustic charm. From the moment we arrived, the experience was elevated. The Lodge's new grand entrance--a gorgeous porte-cochère, expansive glass, and an accessible design--immediately signaled the thoughtful transformation underway. Inside, the lobby unfolds like a storybook scene: a dramatic split staircase, a cozy fireplace, sumptuous furnishings--all infused with a touch of whimsy and glamour. The suites themselves were stunning. Spacious and beautifully finished, they reflect the resort's woodsy elegance through distinctive color palettes and upscale décor. Ours featured modern amenities that made a real difference: a Nespresso coffee machine to kickstart the mornings, a Dyson hair dryer (yes, really!), and plush butler service that took convenience and indulgence to the next level. These thoughtful touches elevated every moment of our stay. Depending on your travel party, the resort accommodates beautifully--options range from cozy Junior King Suites to expansive Penthouse Suites with multiple bedrooms and balconies overlooking the serene grounds. We felt truly pampered and inspired to unwind. No need to leave the property to be indulged. Dining at the new Fawn & Fable was a highlight--farm-to-table steakhouse excellence with imaginative, artful plating and local ingredients that transported us to a fairytale setting. Evenings were best spent at Circle Bar, enjoying creative cocktails in an opulent setting, or slipping into the library-style Study--a hidden gem perfect for quiet conversation under a starlit painted ceiling. In the mornings, The Patisserie was our go-to for delicious espresso and pastries in a bright, airy Parisian-style café setting. Beyond our suite and spirits, the resort's amenities truly complement the experience -- from world-class spa treatments, golf courses, and thrilling outdoor adventures to curated wellness moments. In short, our stay in the renovated Lodge suites was pure enchantment--a perfect mix of luxury, comfort, thoughtful design, and impeccable service. Nemacolin continues to raise the bar, and we can't wait to return.

Here is the breakdown of our stay: The Room & Bedding The bed was extremely uncomfortable, which was especially difficult for my husband who recently underwent back surgery. The standard pillows were awful, but luckily they have a "pillow bar" with eight different options. Being able to swap them out was a saving grace, but the mattress itself left a lot to be desired. Room Service Completely out of the question. Despite advertising 24/7 availability, we tried calling to order food and were left waiting unanswered for 10 minutes just ringing on two separate occasions. Talk about inconvenient. The Butler Service While the staff was pleasant, the execution was a mess. We had a late night at the Circle Bar and planned to sleep in, specifically scheduling our morning coffee delivery for 8:30 AM since we were traveling without our kids. Instead, the joke was on us: we were abruptly woken up at 6:30 AM by a butler delivering someone else's coffee and milk. Once disrupted, we were wide awake for the day. Dining: Hit or Miss (Mostly Miss) Fawn and Fable: The steak was great, but the sides were a disaster. The potatoes and broccolini were completely undercooked--serving raw potatoes at this price point is totally unacceptable. Service was also lacking, and our water glasses sat empty almost the entire meal. Aqueous: A major disappointment for breakfast. I ordered the huevos rancheros (one of my favorites), and the sauce tasted like it came straight out of a cheap tomato can. My husband's breakfast was mediocre at best, featuring burnt bacon. (Seriously, how do you burn bacon?). Our waiter was completely MIA, and the food took forever. On top of that, we overheard a waitress at the next table comparing the restaurant's bread to Aldi. That is exactly what you want to hear at a self-proclaimed 5-star resort. Circle Bar: This was the highlight of our trip. It offered average food but by far the best service and drinks, likely because we chose to sit directly at the bar. The Peak: Average food paired with average service. It felt like something you would expect from a standard chain restaurant, not a luxury property. Summary: For the price and the reputation, the lack of attention to detail in both the service and the kitchens was incredibly disappointing.
