Stepping into our suite at Nemacolin felt like walking into a dream.
Devin D.

Our stay at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in the recently renovated suites in The Lodge was nothing short of magical. Nestled in the heart of the Laurel Highlands, these upgraded suites embody a seamless blend of modern elegance and rustic charm. From the moment we arrived, the experience was elevated. The Lodge's new grand entrance--a gorgeous porte-cochère, expansive glass, and an accessible design--immediately signaled the thoughtful transformation underway. Inside, the lobby unfolds like a storybook scene: a dramatic split staircase, a cozy fireplace, sumptuous furnishings--all infused with a touch of whimsy and glamour. The suites themselves were stunning. Spacious and beautifully finished, they reflect the resort's woodsy elegance through distinctive color palettes and upscale décor. Ours featured modern amenities that made a real difference: a Nespresso coffee machine to kickstart the mornings, a Dyson hair dryer (yes, really!), and plush butler service that took convenience and indulgence to the next level. These thoughtful touches elevated every moment of our stay. Depending on your travel party, the resort accommodates beautifully--options range from cozy Junior King Suites to expansive Penthouse Suites with multiple bedrooms and balconies overlooking the serene grounds. We felt truly pampered and inspired to unwind. No need to leave the property to be indulged. Dining at the new Fawn & Fable was a highlight--farm-to-table steakhouse excellence with imaginative, artful plating and local ingredients that transported us to a fairytale setting. Evenings were best spent at Circle Bar, enjoying creative cocktails in an opulent setting, or slipping into the library-style Study--a hidden gem perfect for quiet conversation under a starlit painted ceiling. In the mornings, The Patisserie was our go-to for delicious espresso and pastries in a bright, airy Parisian-style café setting. Beyond our suite and spirits, the resort's amenities truly complement the experience -- from world-class spa treatments, golf courses, and thrilling outdoor adventures to curated wellness moments. In short, our stay in the renovated Lodge suites was pure enchantment--a perfect mix of luxury, comfort, thoughtful design, and impeccable service. Nemacolin continues to raise the bar, and we can't wait to return.

Hairy beds :(

Years ago, I would have recommended it. Not anymore. Too overpriced for the experience we had. On our most recent stay over New Year's Eve Nemacolin was late checking us in, thus we had to get ready for a wedding in a public bathroom (and the staff knew we had booked with the wedding party). After we were finally in our room after the wedding rehearsal dinner, the beds were not clean (see pics). And I only looked and found out how hair the bed was because I was searching to see why I was sneezing so much. I will say that the wedding reception dinner was beautiful and the food was delicious. The decorations at the resort were also amazing. It was just our room situation that was bad. I did speak with a staff member. They told me multiple times that it was their busiest week of the year. I wasn't going to throw a fit with the girl at the desk because she was sweet and it really wasn't her fault. But in the end, no one really cared. They gave me a tiny tiny bit of money off. And the desk staff admitted that when booking they should let people know that the rooms are used by animals. I also suggested that in between the animals staying, they clean up better after them.

Nemacolin is truly a remarkable place. I can't say enough good things. Is it expensive? Yes. Very. But it is worth every single penny. The staff is so incredibly helpful and always happy. Will drop what they are doing to help. The food is unreal. There is always something to do.

First drink.. watermelon candy. Tequila, haberno infused, triple sec, lime juice, and fresh squeezed watermelon juice!

I had been here about 15 years ago for a work trip. They have upgraded greatly since then. My family and I wanted a relaxing little getaway that we could drive too, this hit all cylinders for us. The grounds are well kept. We stayed in one of their Washington homes. It was a 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath two story unit with a private deck, full kitchen. It was clean and very spacious for the 3 of us. The bed was spectacular! I am a big shower snob when out, I hate these showers that basically drips water. I have to say this was probably the best shower ever! It felt like a full blown massage in there, kudos! There is something for everyone to do activities here. Adults, kids, senior, everyone. We went with the paint pall target shooting. It was a blast. Staff was so friendly and fun as well. We then did an Italian cooking class, and learned to make home made pasta, and prepared ourself a great meal. Then we took a day and sat at the pool with bottle service. The weather was perfect. Pool area is very large. The pool was crystal clear and just beautiful. Again the staff was very attentive and friendly. Big shout out to our great bartender, Jordan, she was absolutely the best! We also did some cosmic bowling. It was fun, the lanes were not the best, but we are not pros so it was fine for us. We ate at several on the restaurants, my least favorite spot was Fawn and Fable. Food was decent, but for the prices I wanted great and service was sub par. Every other spot we tried was delicious and even in house ordering was good! Defintely a pricey experience, but overall I'd say the value to experience was on par.

My weekend at Nemacolin was certainly a memorable one! Overall it truly is such a lovely, but also a bit overpriced place. My biggest complaint was that our room smelt overwhelming like cigarettes. Like, it was so strong! They didn't offer to switch our rooms, instead they just brought in some type of machine to try and take out the smell. It worked a bit, but then they had to come back with some deodorizer as well. For what you're paying per night here, you're room should really not reek of cigarettes. The good! The room itself was nice and the beds were comfortable. I also really enjoyed the shower. The grounds of Nemacolin are insanely beautiful. I was there in the summer and it's really impressive all the flower landscapes they created. We also found the shuttle bus super easy to take around the property. We were able to enjoy the pools, the spa, four of the restaurants, grab ice cream, and go mini golfing. Pretty genius to have everything onsite so you don't have to leave. Kind of like Disney World for folks who don't want the rides. We did try to ride the carousel, but it was closed for the majority of our stay. The pools are beautiful and well equipped with chairs, towels, water, and sunscreen. We didn't use the golf course, but saw plenty of groups partaking in that. We did sign up for a skeet shooting session which was memorable. There were still many parts of the hotel we didn't make it to like the zoo, car museum, or bowling. You will spend a ridiculous amount of money, but again it is very memorable. I went with a friend and would definitely go back again.

The butler service was amazing, any time my family needed anything they were very quick to get to our room and do whatever we needed. All the in room dining came from the faun and fable restaurant which was incredible. If you don't what to eat in room I highly recommend that restaurant. All the workers were extremely nice and friendly, the drive up to the chateau was amazing. The only bad thing I can say is when I tried to order dinner in room they forgot to actually write down our order, so they didn't make our food and we had to call again and then they were very quick to correct this mistake, but other than that this place was fantastic. 100% will come here again.

The Ice Cream Parlor

With a seemingly endless array of amenities and activities, this sprawling European-style resort in the heart of Western Pennsylvania tries to offer something for everyone -- and mostly succeeds. Kids will enjoy the Wildlife Habitats, pools, ice cream parlor and bowling alley, while couples can soak up the spa, the upscale dining and the extensive bike and walking trails. Golfers will be challenged by the fabulous pair of 18-hole Pete Dye courses, gun enthusiasts will love the clay course at the Field Club, and everyone will be amazed by the grand scale of the property and the wealth of experiences it provides. It's impossible to cover the full scope of attractions at Nemacolin -- every time you think the resort has outdone itself, you find something more outrageous. There's a pair of classic car and plane museums, an art gallery, a Kids' Club, a zip line, a ropes course, and so much more. A visit feels like you've been invited into a billionaire's private playground, and that's pretty much what it actually is. Established as a hunting resort in the late 1960s, the property was acquired in 1987 by lumber magnate Joseph Hardy, who expanded it to more than 2,000 acres and opened it as a luxury resort, with a European-inspired grand hotel as its centerpiece. Visiting recently during a company retreat, I was impressed with the unparalleled level of service and the spaciousness of my insanely comfortable room at the luxurious Chateau hotel. The massive Lodge property was under renovation during our stay, but we were still able to enjoy most of the activities, from golf and sporting clays to fly fishing and cosmic bowling. I can't think of many better spots for a corporate retreat, although the 90-minute drive to and from the Pittsburgh airport (the resort is in the middle of nowhere) was a bit trying. Also, the resort is almost TOO big -- the scope of options is simply overwhelming, and the size of the estate makes it challenging to get between most of the different properties on foot (there's a fairly convenient shuttle bus system, though). And for the extravagant prices for the rooms and the dining, you want to take advantage of as much as you can during your stay. It's a memorable experience, but unless you live within a couple hours drive, there are better options for a getaway.

Enter: Nemacolin. Driving up for the first time, you can sense you're in for a treat. It feels like you've entered a fairytale or at least have been transported to somewhere in Europe. The colors are brighter, and the birds chirp louder at Nemacolin. It's harmonious and beautiful. Service is unmatched. The room was magnificent. And although I can be a tough one to impress, we were traveling with our corgi who was treated like royalty her whole stay. Every meal, activity, spa trip, all of it was perfect. After a rough 3 years of a pandemic and a noticeable decline in the way the world is functioning, it was SO nice to escape here and truly be pampered for a long weekend. I don't think it's fair to give this place 1 star based on the cost alone. There are so many more options available, even in PA, to match a budget. When you come to Nemacolin, understand it will be expensive and likely you will be splurging. But you get what you pay for and then some! The ultimate in treating yourself.

Been here many times. Love the place. But the last few years their agenda promoting LGBTQ and Pride has gone too far. This is a family resort. After they hosted the show the Bachelor, they probably started getting more celebs and social media influencers and someone high up either Maggie or her brother may have come up with the idea of pushing the east and west coast progressive agendas and catering to the lgbtq ‍ community but it's gone too far. I love this place and i respect and appreciate all humans of all gender preferences but I don't want my young kids exposed to drag shows and I don't appreciate having to explain to my young kids these complex issues that should be discussed later in life. I'm sad to hear Mr. Hardy passed away. I don't know how much of this he'd have approved. But a resort in central PA needs to stick to being a resort and not be promoting any agendas. Maggie are you listening?

What a pleasant visit! What stood out the most, was the consistency of friendly and helpful staff. Everyone we encountered was so nice and it didn't feel forced. The access to different activities and restaurants left us wanting to make a return trip. We came to relax so the spa and pools were our favorite experiences. I also liked trying axe throwing for the first time! We had not one bad meal for our weekend stay. The home was cozy and the shuttle access made everything easily accessible. It's not a cheap visit, but we decided that it's worth it!

This place is amazing. They have bars, dining, golf, pools, and amazing grounds. The rooms are very clean! They have amazing Butler service very attentive. The room service is fantastic. They also have bath service if you like that sort of thing. I will definitely come back here.

Chipped/scratched paint, peeling wallpaper, musky smell

My wife and I intended to spend a long weekend here with our 2 year old. We ended up checking out a day early due to a multiplicity of issues. Your overall experience will depend on where you stay, what you eat and what exactly you want to do. The Lodge seemed like the most family friendly choice. At $1,300 per night (king with additional sitting area) the price felt high compared to the quality. The room was very outdated and would benefit from a fresh coat of paint, new wallpaper and basic maintenance. Golf was a great experience until making the turn on Mystic Rock ($300). I was sent out solo and enjoying my round until two random foursomes "appeared" in front of me on #10. The course was in great shape and plays well but pace of play turned into a problem. A mix of "local members" and resort guests are expected at these types of places but I can't wait 10-15 minutes between shots. Dining wasn't anything special. "The Tavern" was okay for sandwiches but the hours of operation are short. Skip "Rockwells" if you enjoy steak. Mine was over cooked and when I tried to send it back our waiter argued with me. Room service was comical. My wife called at 6:45am to order my son pancakes and fruit for breakfast. She was instructed to call back at 7:00am because the kitchen was on a "limited menu" until then. The history of the property is interesting. 84 Lumber tycoon Joseph Hardy bought it in 1987. He expanded by 1500+ acres (lots of lumber) and filled the place with random artwork, animals and golf. There are a bunch of pools, zoo animals, mini golf and various other activities to keep you busy. Getting around is dependent on "shuttles" that never answer the provided phone number. Cell service (Verizon) was intermittent. The children's area was old and run down. All of the older parts at the resort felt forgotten. It is obvious that Nemacolin has shifted focus towards "trendy" adult entrainment (reference social media or the Vogue article). The staff was very attentive and professional. We are glad that we went but probably won't return anytime soon. The price of admission didn't feel worth it. Might be a better without children and stick to the "adult only" areas? We thought it would be a fun place for a family and were disappointed. Experiences may vary.

It is very outdated and does not create a relaxing environment for all of its patrons. It seems that it's geared toward elderly non smoking people. Machines are ancient and there's no suitable clean area for people that actually smoke. The high limit room is disgraceful for a high limit room not a single updated machine. Perhaps this casino should View some of its competitors to see what actually makes a high limit room work. Rooms were comfortable but bed awful pillows. Bathroom- no shelving in shower to put soap etc, looks like it was ripped off. Strange. Restaurant is completely over priced for quality and our server the morning of 3/24/26 left us waiting and asking for everything and they were extremely slow. She seemed annoyed to be waiting on us. Casino- nothing going on as far as entertainment because it was beginning of week. Just gonna tell you that our party at four watched for three days we never saw an attendant making a hand pay. We never heard a single bell at all. We never saw a single person when anything of significance. I have never been to a casino where there was no walking around Cleaning machines, taking orders. The bartender told me that she takes it upon herself to walk around and wait on people so that she can make enough money to survive. Every conversation with the employee led to them complaining. . I never saw anyone in three days achieve a hand pay ...never heard any bells. If there are slot attendance, which I never saw those I don't understand how they make any money because I promise you it never happened so they didn't make a dollar in tips. The are high roller they'd like to smoke cigars and you can't do that here. The only thing that I saw was an overabundance of security guys that really did nothing. High limit room is a joke. Compared to my Pittsburgh area casinos, I can understand why no one ever played in that room. It's usually a room where guys that are betting like to enjoy a cigar and a nice drink while they relax in this casino you can't do that. have to go outside on the dirty porch with old machines that have lines running through the screen. Put more updated machines in and give people a smoking section the same as you do non smokers. I know people say this all the time, but this place is tight! As a gambler, I get more excited seeing other people win and I'm willing to spend more of my own money that was never the case here unfortunately you just anybody win anything. 2,000 later and we never won anything to keep us playing, as well as the couple we went with. 100 largest win. thr Resort seems like it would be lovely in the summer but the casino does not appeal to the gambler. We want a clean environment, great service to be able ti have the choice of a nonsmoking or smoking section, and also to receive a little bit of playback to keep you going. Unfortunately, this casino did not hit any of those marks. It does not appeal to a typical gambler. The average wealthy that would be willing to throw down some money might want to have a cigar and a nice bourbon. He will be in for a wake up. Call when he's thrown outside into the screened in porch filthy outdated machines wit zero cocktail waitresses. The smoking section is actually outdoors and it was freezing with a screen separating the outside. Get newer machines, wait on your customers and provide an indoor clean smoking area equivalent to non smoking!! People won't want to leave their seat! You have to leave your seat for everything! Makes it really easy to quit spending money. This review is very frustrating because I think the resort is beautiful and I want to like it but all of those things mentioned above make it difficult. It does not appeal to all people that like to gambler. It appeals to elderly non-smoking individuals and even they can't get a cocktail waitress.

Getting to the resort is reasonable and while the parking is mostly free each time I have ended up parking in the East Lot which results in a long walk through the Main Lodge and then to the Ski Lodge; not a lot of fun in full ski gear and carrying my skis. Both of my trips were in early spring so the ski conditions were ok, but not great. The slopes had decent snow coverage but there were large stretches of dirt between the slopes. Seven Springs has a good lift system that gets you up the hill and to the slopes efficiently. The slopes near the Ski Lodge are a bit shorter and generally easier. The North Face slopes are a bit longer and more challenging. The general feeling at Seven Springs is that the slopes are very wide open with not a lot of trees near the slopes. Seven Springs is a decent place to ski, however I find that it is not really challenging or charming. From what I have heard it is a great place for families to have a ski vacation as the lodge is slopeside and there is plenty of family friendly activities available. For a one day trip it is just ok, but I would only go there if I need to use up a ski day on the Epic Pass. Of course if it was closer to me it would be more appealing, also I would expect that if the snow coverage is good it would also be more fun. With all that said a day skiing is still a great day, for me there are better options for skiing about the same distance away.

After renting equipment at some other mountains, we feel that the quality at HV is a significant downgrade - The bar (Glaciers?) is way too small to accommodate the crowd. I learned about the bears -- all 14,000 of them roaming the state -- a day before I was supposed to stay at Mountain Creek Cabins, which are located in the middle of the woods in Bruceton Mills. I was ... a little anxious about my stay, you could say. Never mind that a bear attack has never been recorded in the state of West Virginia. There's always a first, right? And it could be me! I'm writing this review unmauled, with all of my limbs intact, and with great memories of my stay at Mountain Creek Cabins. Staying at our cabin was one of the highlights of my visit to the area, and my kids agree: We all loved staying here. There are eight cabins on the property, so we weren't as isolated as I thought we'd be. We weren't isolated, but we were also far enough away from other people that we felt very much like we had lots of privacy. We stayed in the White Tail cabin, which can sleep five with one king bed, two twin beds and a rollaway bed. The twin beds are upstairs, but everything else is downstairs, including a living room with a big TV connected to Roku, a push-button fireplace, a full kitchen and dining table, and a restroom. The kitchen has everything you need to cook and eat at the cabin. The living room has a cabinet with board games. We played one of them (Rummikub) and loved it so much that we ended up buying it once we got home. There's also free and fast wifi, which is important to each person in my family. The decorations in the cabin are sparse, but what decor there is included Bible verses and deer paintings, which is definitely a choice. I was not blown away by the aesthetics of this cabin, but it was the garish lighting that really messed me up. There's one soft lamp in the living room, and everything else is bright, cool, alarming overhead lighting. If you're a person who notices lighting like I do, this place will have you all effed up. My advice: Turn on the lamp, turn on the little light above the stove, and just be OK with the place being a little dark. Your only choice is this or prison lighting. Every cabin comes with its own hot tub, which my children used multiple times during our stay. It was immaculate and steaming when we checked into our cabin, which was much appreciated after a long drive to get to the cabin. The hot tub overlooks the woods, so it was nice to sit in the hot tub and see nothing but trees and a small creek that runs through the property. Well, it was nice for my kids to do that -- I was standing outside on the deck, looking out for bears. I was not about to let the bears dine on Indiana-children soup. All of the cabins have access to a free laundry room, plus there are firewood bundles and eggs (?!?!) that you can purchase on the honor system. We had a great time at Mountain Creek Cabins. It was so relaxing to stay at a place that had everything we needed. I never did end up seeing a bear, so I would stay here again without hesitation.

Had a wonderful three-night stay in the Shawnee cabin. Used the cabin as a home base for my Wisp…read moresnowboarding trip with the girl I'm dating. The cabin has a fire pit out front, a front porch, and a back porch that's covered with a hot tub. There are two cabins close by on either side but it still feels private, especially the hot tub. It's a little weird that the door to the back porch and the kitchen window don't have curtains but I guess the trees probably blocked some or all of the view in. It's a cabin so don't expect a ton of room, but it's cozy and there is still plenty of space for two people. A family of four would be fine, but unless you're super close I wouldn't recommend two couples sharing the Shawnee cabin. There's a couch and TV but the TV doesn't really turn much (not a big deal). TV has Roku built in and there is dish satellite channels. There's plenty of heat, with two space heaters and an electric fireplace, which is basically another heater. The kitchen has basically everything you need. There's a small oven and an electric stove (that takes a while). There's also a tiny dishwasher which is nice. The fridge was turned on right before we arrived so it took like six hours to cool down. I wish they turned it on earlier but it wasn't a big deal. There's a coffee maker that can make kcups or regular coffee, and they provide a bunch of kcups. There's also salt and pepper, as well as aluminum foil. The bed was super comfy and we slept great all three nights. Bathroom was standard and worked fine. Hot tub was the true MVP of the trip. There's nothing better than ending a long day with a cold beer and a hot soak. Don't forget to hydrate too! The hot tub smelled a bit weird but we got used to it. Set that bad boy to 104° and you're good to go. It snowed a little and we don't have all wheel drive. All the driveways seems to be on an incline so we had to park strategically on the road that splits to the different cabins. They recommend AWD but if there's less than 4" of snow, you probably will be fine. The snow was beautiful! The owners/managers were hard to get a hold of. We called a couple times to get in touch but did not hear back at all. In the end, it was fine because the email we got after booking was very detailed and there's a binder on top of the fridge with more information. Note: wifi password was on the side of the fridge, not the front. As you're entering, follow the instructions on your email, and not your google maps/Waze/etc. Just remember to take exit 15 and take that route. As of early 2021, Verizon and TMobile had service until the last five minutes of the drive and no service at all around the cabins. There are no gas stations or grocery stores remotely close. I recommend getting food and gas in Frostburg or Cumberland (coming from DC) or Morgantown (if you come from West/North/South). Apparently one pizza place delivers to the cabins but we didn't order. I definitely recommend coming to stay at Mountain Creek Cabins and I think I'd love to come back in the future.
