I absolutely loved the design of the room. It was as immaculately clean as any room I have ever seen, and the bed was as comfortable as I can remember any bed anywhere. The wonderful experience was interrupted by the noise, however. The winter wind loudly whistled through the back door and the heater was also loud - no fan speed adjustment. If I find myself visiting the area again but in moderate weather, I'd be glad to return. read more

Drove 3 hrs for Wisp and had our reservations canceled at our original spot, called this location and the staff was super kind and helpful! They accommodated us on the spot and had a room clean and ready. The rooms are quaint, clean and cozy. It's decorated simply but has what you need. A fridge, microwave, toiletries, fluffy pillows and towels, lots of space to place your items as well. Out on the balcony there is a cute little bar sitting area and the fire pits. It is so cozy you really don't want to leave. There are drinks at the front and the staff are amazing! The female as well as the tall gentle man were great! Wish we got names. Walls are a bit thin but besides that get you a room and watch tv all day in their fluffy beds. Perfect place to relax! Will be back! read more

I've stayed in numerous hotels and condos, but none had the decor, complimentary services and polite staff in them. It may not look like much from the road, but they completely put the love and investment into the interiors.I have multiple spinal issues and usually beds are an issue, but this bed was firm enough to support but soft enough to be comfortable. I was blown away by the cleanliness and country decor. This was my first time, but definitely not my last. Can't beat the price. read more

When I was feeling overworked, I decided to take a spontaneous mini vacation out to Deep Creek. I got online and looked for rooms on the lake that I could afford and had rooms available the very next day (it was cold and rainy, so that probably helped me find rooms). I wanted somewhere cozy where I could read a book, enjoy a view of the lake, and be near good food options. When I saw the fireplaces in the single bed rooms at LakeFront Lodge, I was hooked! The room was almost perfect, the only detractor for me is that the couch/seat in the room is not at all comfy for lounging, that's what I wanted to do for a few days. But the bed was very comfy, the bar height table out on the balcony was a lovely perk, the room was clean, the view of the lake was nice, and I got to enjoy reading a book by a fireplace (I adore fireplaces). I loved it. I watched a few people renting kayaks and boats (I'll have to try that myself next time), and I saw how much the staff cared for the guests and the property. Had a wonderful weekend stay at the LakeStar Lodge! Beautiful location with friendly efficient staff and owner! Everyone went out of their way to make it a perfect relaxing getaway. Rented kayaks onsite and everything was provided. This trip was planned by my adult children and we were booked a dog friendly room so we could bring our pet-we had never done that before and were a little wary that it would not be as nice -it was clean and bright with no evidence that it was occupied before by pets! Many close restaurants and many that are dog friendly! Fire pits, grill and picnic tables as well as Adirondack chairs provided.We can't wait to stay again! Heading to LakeStar my boyfriend and I noticed that we were making great time. We called and asked for an early check-in and they allowed us to check-in around 1:30PM. The outside of the building does the gorgeous rooms no justice. It was both rustic and romantic and we absolutely loved it. The staff member who greeted us was very welcoming and also helped with directions to a nearby establishment. The proximity to Wisp Resort as well as other amentites was also great. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the lodge and would comeback. *The only issue we had were: 1)The temperature of the room was wonky, either too hot or too cold. **TIP: Although you can get cheaper wood elsewhere, LakeStar has Duraflame which provided a better longlasting flame. read more

Overall, there was a lot of things to like about my family's stay here. There were a few things to be desired as well. The location is outstanding, right on the lake, and you have access to a variety of rentals from them. Our kids loved their paddle boards. The staff was very friendly and the amenities are excellent, including the free coffee, tea, and hot chocolate from 8am-8pm. It's located in a great spot, and we were just a few minutes away from all kinds of places. Parking is right in front of your door. The fire pits, tables, and chairs were also great. There's a sort of communal atmosphere when the sun goes down as you may want to join a few other people in front of the two fire pits offered. Plenty of wood is available, and it's included in the stay. Our room had a mini-fridge and microwave, which was very nice. The decor was great also, nice looking rooms. TV and cable was great, lots of channels, which is nice if it rains. The free Wi-Fi was speedy and worked the entire time we were there. Unfortunately, I must admit, the beds were among the absolute worst I've ever experienced. We had a double queen bed room and both beds seemed to have the hardest steel springs in them which made sleeping a serious chore. Springs were even evident on the sides of the mattresses. When my wife would move, it woke me up, and vice versa. Our kids stated they had sore backs and stiff necks, as did my wife and I. While I realize that everyone's sleep preferences are different, I just cannot find any other way to say it, we did not sleep well, if at all, during our stay. Also, if you're planning on having more than two people in your room, get ready for close quarters. There's simply no room for four people to move around. These rooms are small small small small. This isn't the fault of the Hotel, but you should be aware of this. If you're planning on not being in your room other than to sleep, then this will probably work out well for you. If you're looking for a place to wind down for the night, the tiny spaces may not be your cup of tea. However, just outside of your private deck, you have all the room in the world to set up your chairs, have something cold to drink, and enjoy the evening. The A/C worked nicely and kept the room comfortable for all four of us. An ice machine is available and worked perfectly during our stay. We did have some problems with the plumbing, our tub would quickly flood and the water was not draining consistently. The water pressure in the sink and shower seemed low. But, they certainly offer plenty of soft towels and getting more was never a problem. There were two very small garbage cans in the room and we had to make many trips to the dumpster, and request more trash bags. The room and bathroom were exceptionally clean and bright. Overall, I'd love to give this hotel a better star review due to the amenities, and the location was excellent, but, for our family, the beds made overnight rest simply impossible. read more

I chose this place as a weekend getaway with my husband over going to The Poconos. The deciding factor was price; it was simply cheaper! It's a very small very cute lodge. My room smelled like soot I guess due to the fireplace which took some getting used to. Other than that the rooms and facilities look exactly like the pictures. It was very clean. No complaints at all. The front desk staff was nice. It's a peaceful relaxing stay and I would definitely go again. read more

LakeStar Lodge has apparently undergone some major renovations. My family and I stayed in a Queen double and were very happy with the brand new wooden floors, quality antique lumber furniture, cleanliness, and friendly service. Did I mention it is directly on the water? You really can't beat its location. They have all the free Kuerig coffee you can drink, though unfortunately did not offer anything for breakfast. It was a little noisy at night, but for it's convenience and surprising cleanliness I'm definitely a fan. read more

During a recent "Girls Getaway", six of us stayed in the Lakeview Suite at LakeStar Lodge for a weekend in April. The price was very reasonable for the stellar accommodations we received! We arrived around 10:30am Saturday morning and although check-in isn't until 3pm, we were able to check-in early as the suite had just been cleaned. When we entered everything smelled very clean, soft music was playing, and there was a plate of healthy breakfast bars on the large wooden bench-style kitchen table. The decor was rustic and quaint! Felt very much like home. The kitchen was fully equipped with a large fridge & freezer, stovetop, microwave, and Keurig along with a variety of coffee & tea k-cups. There were plates, cups, bowls & silverware but I'm glad we brought some extra plasticware. There wasn't an oven, but right below our suite was the lobby which had a full-sized kitchen that we were allowed to use if we wanted. The 3 bedrooms were nice sized with comfortable queen beds. There was only 1 bathroom but it was spacious with a modern-style shower. The living room area was very comfy, and a small balcony overlooked the lake. Right below our balcony was the fire-pit which we asked to use and the staff immediately went out and got the fire started for us. Being the off-season, it felt like we had the place to ourselves! We were having such a wonderful time we paid an extra $30 to have a late check-out around 3pm instead of 11am and I'm glad we did as I didn't really want to leave! I would highly recommend this lodge as it's perfectly located for everything that Deep Creek Lake has to offer. Can't wait to go back next year! read more

I came across this lodge on Groupon when looking for a place to stay for a little birthday getaway. As soon as I saw the picture of the view from the balcony, I became very interested. I was a bit skeptical of traveling so far for only a couple of days, but I'm really glad I did. I traveled about 300 miles from a small town in South Jersey to come to a place I've never been, and boy was it worth it! From start to finish, I was very pleased with my experience here at LakeStar as well as McHenry in general. The location of the lodge is hard to beat for the price as you are right on the water with a nice mountain view in the back. It's really not hard to find, either. Check in was a breeze, and the man at the front counter was very welcoming and helpful when explaining what activities and restaurants are around the area as well as other tips. My boyfriend and I ended up staying in room 202. The view from the room is beautiful! If it wasn't 30 degrees outside, I would have loved to sit on the balcony in the morning and evening and drink coffee. The room was just the right size for two people, and truly, immaculately clean. Seriously - this is (hands down) the cleanest place I've ever stayed at. I don't think I saw even a spec of dirt anywhere. The bedsheets were clean, the towels were clean, heck you could even almost see your own reflection in the bathtub because it was so clean and shiny. The cleanliness of the room was really appreciated, honestly. The fireplace was nice and cozy - but note that only DuraFlame logs can be burned. LakeStar provides one log and a pack of matches for free, but any additional ones can be purchased. The heater in the room worked very well, as did the microwave and mini fridge. The bed was pretty comfortable. I also appreciated the flatscreen tv with Comcast cable - something that is hard to come by at other hotels. I love the decor in the room and how it has a very rustic and "homey" feel. They provide free coffee and hot chocolate for their guests - although I didn't have any during my stay. Checkout was also a breeze and we were wished a safe travel home and an invitation to return whenever from the same man who checked us in. The ONLY negative thing I have to say is that you can hear your neighbors pretty well through the walls. We heard a lot of footsteps, faint voices, and showers turning on and off at random times. It didn't hinder our trip whatsoever, but I'm sure this might be bothersome to certain people. All in all, LakeStar provided us with a spectacular room and memorable mini vacation. Their kindness and cleanliness was truly appreciated, and for the price of the room with Groupon, it really can't be beat. Without a doubt, I would come back. I just got home from my stay and I'm already wanting to return, probably in the summer when there are more outdoor activities, or in the early fall when the leaves are starting to change colors. Perfect location on the lake directly across from Wisp. Small and cozy and very clean. No closet, so don't bring a lot of clothes. They do have two "knobs" to hang clothes. Loved the fireworks directly across the lake------the lodge even had a cook-out the night of the fireworks! The only thing I didn't understand ------- there was no sign on the lawn asking guests to pick up after their dog (which shouldn't be needed) and there was dog poop literally all over the lawn. read more

The view from our room was beautiful. The room itself was very clean and I felt like I was at home! This is a great place! The location can't be beat -- it's right on the water, across from the ski resort. The rooms (while not large) are beautifully decorated -- think, "cabin in the woods" feel -- and immaculate. The staff (front desk and housekeeping) are exceptionally helpful and friendly. After shopping around, we found that LakeStar Lodge's nightly rates are lower than any other 'decent' hotel in the area. You can't go wrong staying here. read more

So.....I read all the reviews for LakeStar Lodge and excitedly made reservations for the MLK weekend and was looking forward to our upcoming stay. Then, yesterday, my husband and I were made aware of the ominous weather forecast calling for snow, sleet and freezing rain...long periods of freezing rain dominated the forecast. I called the lodge and asked if I could switch our reservation to the next 3-day weekend in February, the Presidents day holiday weekend. I wasn't cancelling the reservations, just simply changing it to a different date based on driving safety concerns coming from nearly 3 hours away. The woman on the phone was sympathetic, super nice, and very professional; however, when she called the owner to approve my request, he said "no." Apparently, he preferred to keep my $79 deposit instead of making well over $300 for the two-night re-booking. His unwillingness to allow me to reschedule for another weekend in February was surprising, disappointing and especially frustrating. The owner did relay that I could reschedule for a weekend in January; however, there is only one weekend left in January; it is not a 3-day weekend; and, my husband and I both have previously scheduled commitments. IMHO, it's unfortunate that the owner of this lodge subscribes to such a greedy and insensitive business practice... read more

I was once a big fan of Lake Star Lodge having stayed there with friends last year. Because we had such a nice experience, we decided to return hoping to make our trip an annual event. We booked well in advance and ended up picking the weekend of snowpocalypse also known as the blizzard of 2016. We suspected bad weather leading up to the weekend and called the lodge several times to express our concern and attempt to reschedule. We were told that we could not reschedule because we had purchased a Groupon and "Groupon had our money". Given my skepticism about this logic, I asked to speak with the manager and was told that he was not available. Shocker. I left my contact information but never heard back. Unlike the Lodge, Groupon was very friendly, understanding and accommodating. They offered to contact the Lodge on our behalf. And they did. Unfortunately, Lake Star Lodge refused to reschedule us or refund or money despite the fact that we were under a state of emergency, in the middle of a blizzard and, in our city, prohibited from driving. Apparently, we were expected to risk our safety to make it to the Lodge. I think not. Ultimately, we were extremely disappointed in the poor communication and poor management of the Lodge and even more so in an institution that seems to be more concerned about making money than about the safety of their guests. Needless to say that we will not be returning. Ever. read more

The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the headboard because it has a space at the bottom where your pillows are and I kept losing my pillow while I was sleeping through the space.
