Such a cool place…read more My family and I (two adults, two kids) stayed in the Gathering Tree. It featured three beds, a master bedroom with a private deck, a large main deck, a spiral staircase, a dining room table, mini fridge, hot plate, two futons, kitchen utensils, a small TV with DVD player and coffee making equipment. There are lots of places to lounge both inside and outside the tree. Outside the treehouse there is a fire pit which we used for s'mores and potatoes. There is a place to purchase firewood right on Ella's property. The property has a .75 mile trail through the woods with numerous animal discoveries along it. My son and I enjoyed trying to find them all and predict what would come next. The property also had many fairy gardens around it. There is also a fort building area giving families many options to do outside. Ella's is an awesome, upscale nature experience in the Deep Creek area. We will definitely return during our next visit to Deep Creek.

I love getting away and being surrounded by nature and this by far is the place to do just that. We stayed at the gathering tree... inside and outside the tree house exceeded our expectations. As soon as we stepped in we felt relaxed and excited. We explored some nearby state parks, enjoyed a fire outside, sat on the back deck to drink our morning coffee, went for walks, played games and enjoyed just being in a treehouse! Cannot say enough about it!

The indoor pool and hot tub have some maintenance issues but we enjoyed it. Lots of families with kids swimming. Lots of families in the lake, boating and fishing. Kids on the swings and the beach. We had dinner at Aces which was very good if a little slow. Room was clean, everything worked. I recommend it.

Disgusting and unsafe I have to agree with Shelton B.'s…read morereview of unit 504 dated June 15, 2021. Apparently nothing much has changed. The unit is not as it is represented online. It is outdated, filthy, unsafe, and should not be rented. The balcony was dirty, spiders and webs everywhere, window had mud splashed on it, screen, door handle, was broken off with metal, jagged edges exposed, one of the chairs bottoms was completely torn out and unusable, another had a rip beginning to form, lamps in the living room did not work and One housed a graveyard of dead flies, carpet was stained, sofa was as hard as a rock, stain on the rug, dining chairs flimsy, FECAL matter on the toilet seat which was painted and that paint was peeling off, doors, delaminating, hardwood floors edges, not finished exposing large gaps, no coffee cups upstairs, broken hairdryer in the bathroom, front door did not lock. At the upstairs landing the first step had a bulge in the carpet causing a hazardous condition for tripping. Someone attempted to fix this by putting duct tape on the edge, which was ineffective. I reported these deficiencies to the front desk. They were very nice and solved a couple of the issues. This unit should not be rented. Shame on this owner for the condition and misrepresentation of the unit. I asked for a refund of part of our rental and got 10% which I believe is a paltry amount given this experience.

I held a memorial for my ex-husband, attended by our daughters, their families and close friends who were neighbors of ours for years when our kids were young. Each of the 5 upstairs bedrooms accommodates 2 guests (more if futons added) and has a private bathroom and door to the balcony. The kitchen is amazing. You can bring in food or cook. There are also large living and dining rooms. You can walk on paths on the 175 acres and enjoy the 2 Japanese oak baths on the lower level. I couldn't have found a nicer place to share memories and spend time with those close to me and my ex. We sang, cried, enjoyed the baths and shared meals and memories.

They are now a vacation house rental; only one group can occupy the house at a time. We were a group of four who visited Pembroke Springs Retreat in the middle of August. Because we were the only group in the house, we took full advantage of the baths. There's nothing more relaxing than a full soak in the warm, mineral-rich waters. They offer one meal per day if you rent all five rooms; we only rented three rooms. But that gave us access to their amazing kitchen. They have fresh mountain water which tasted smoother than any city water and made incredible green tea and coffee. On checking in, we spoke to Lisa over the phone who was very helpful and friendly. Because of COVID, everything was over the phone. But Lisa answered any questions we had immediately. We were also happy to meet some of the dogs. :D

Nestled in the heart of the Laurel Highlands, these upgraded suites embody a seamless blend of modern elegance and rustic charm. From the moment we arrived, the experience was elevated. The Lodge's new grand entrance--a gorgeous porte-cochère, expansive glass, and an accessible design--immediately signaled the thoughtful transformation underway. Inside, the lobby unfolds like a storybook scene: a dramatic split staircase, a cozy fireplace, sumptuous furnishings--all infused with a touch of whimsy and glamour. The suites themselves were stunning. Spacious and beautifully finished, they reflect the resort's woodsy elegance through distinctive color palettes and upscale décor. Ours featured modern amenities that made a real difference: a Nespresso coffee machine to kickstart the mornings, a Dyson hair dryer (yes, really!), and plush butler service that took convenience and indulgence to the next level. These thoughtful touches elevated every moment of our stay. Depending on your travel party, the resort accommodates beautifully--options range from cozy Junior King Suites to expansive Penthouse Suites with multiple bedrooms and balconies overlooking the serene grounds. We felt truly pampered and inspired to unwind. No need to leave the property to be indulged. Dining at the new Fawn & Fable was a highlight--farm-to-table steakhouse excellence with imaginative, artful plating and local ingredients that transported us to a fairytale setting. Evenings were best spent at Circle Bar, enjoying creative cocktails in an opulent setting, or slipping into the library-style Study--a hidden gem perfect for quiet conversation under a starlit painted ceiling. In the mornings, The Patisserie was our go-to for delicious espresso and pastries in a bright, airy Parisian-style café setting. Beyond our suite and spirits, the resort's amenities truly complement the experience -- from world-class spa treatments, golf courses, and thrilling outdoor adventures to curated wellness moments. In short, our stay in the renovated Lodge suites was pure enchantment--a perfect mix of luxury, comfort, thoughtful design, and impeccable service. Nemacolin continues to raise the bar, and we can't wait to return.

We recently stayed for two nights in the Chateau building. While the room itself was nice and met…read morebasic expectations, the overall experience fell incredibly short for a luxury resort. Here is the breakdown of our stay: The Room & Bedding The bed was extremely uncomfortable, which was especially difficult for my husband who recently underwent back surgery. The standard pillows were awful, but luckily they have a "pillow bar" with eight different options. Being able to swap them out was a saving grace, but the mattress itself left a lot to be desired. Room Service Completely out of the question. Despite advertising 24/7 availability, we tried calling to order food and were left waiting unanswered for 10 minutes just ringing on two separate occasions. Talk about inconvenient. The Butler Service While the staff was pleasant, the execution was a mess. We had a late night at the Circle Bar and planned to sleep in, specifically scheduling our morning coffee delivery for 8:30 AM since we were traveling without our kids. Instead, the joke was on us: we were abruptly woken up at 6:30 AM by a butler delivering someone else's coffee and milk. Once disrupted, we were wide awake for the day. Dining: Hit or Miss (Mostly Miss) Fawn and Fable: The steak was great, but the sides were a disaster. The potatoes and broccolini were completely undercooked--serving raw potatoes at this price point is totally unacceptable. Service was also lacking, and our water glasses sat empty almost the entire meal. Aqueous: A major disappointment for breakfast. I ordered the huevos rancheros (one of my favorites), and the sauce tasted like it came straight out of a cheap tomato can. My husband's breakfast was mediocre at best, featuring burnt bacon. (Seriously, how do you burn bacon?). Our waiter was completely MIA, and the food took forever. On top of that, we overheard a waitress at the next table comparing the restaurant's bread to Aldi. That is exactly what you want to hear at a self-proclaimed 5-star resort. Circle Bar: This was the highlight of our trip. It offered average food but by far the best service and drinks, likely because we chose to sit directly at the bar. The Peak: Average food paired with average service. It felt like something you would expect from a standard chain restaurant, not a luxury property. Summary: For the price and the reputation, the lack of attention to detail in both the service and the kitchens was incredibly disappointing.
