Once again a great stay at Lake Pointe Inn. We typically stay here 4-6 times per year breaking up a long drive to and from DC. The innkeepers are very attentive to detail, the staff is great, the rooms are lovely, breakfast is excellent and made-to-order. It's a historic inn -- no elevators, for instance -- but it really feels like a place you want to go back to over and over. read more

Just returned from our first visit to Lake Pointe Inn B&B. We were looking for a last minute mid-week, mountain vacation away from the same old spots driving distance from Bergen county NJ. Came across LPI and lucky for us the only room available was the Innkeeper's Flat, the best room in the place. Owner Scott was a pleasant and gracious host, walking us through everything we could need to know. Accommodations were only outmatched by the staff, and their willingness to go the extra mile. Menu items more extensive than most hotels complimentary breakfast, and much better. Try the avocado toast. When we go back in-season we plan on taking advantage of the boat rides. We enjoyed a choice of delicious gourmet breakfast, coffee and tea bar, bottled water and soda on each floor, games in the common room, sauna, chocolate chip cookies, snacks, pontoon boat rides, fireside chats with other guests, and hiking at nearby state parks. The inn was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the owners are vested in this historic property. We loved the mission décor. Our room (sang run) was immaculate and so very romantic. The happy hour and boat ride were beyond enjoyable. The made to order breakfast was fresh and delicious (which we enjoyed one morning delivered to our room and one morning by the lake). Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. So much thought put into each accommodation and amenity offered. Text messages to assess needs. Cold drinks offered on each floor. A little shop with wine and snacks if needed for purchase. Absolutely wonderful place to stay for vacation. This very large historical building includes ten rooms to stay in. All rooms are themed and named after important persons to the area. We stayed in the friend room, which included a jet bath, large shower, fireplace, mini fridge with Keurig and a personal nook looking over the lakeside. Morning is brought with a full breakfast menu. It will either be served inside the dinning area or outside (weather permitting). They also serve a wonderful wine and snack in the mid afternoon. Chocolate chip cookies are available anytime after four. You'll have to get them while they last! Lakepointe also has an honor bar system. You may help yourself to wine or beer options and they will charge it to your room. It's a self service system that is ready and there anytime you would want it. You may sign up for a boat tour on the lake. This tour was guided by a gentleman named Dan. He was great and offered wonderful information about the lake and places to visit while you are staying! Before renting any paddle board make sure to check out what they provide. Kayaks, canoes and stand up boards are all lined up near the dock for you to take into the water. They have full trust in their guests to help themselves to any amenities, and to treat the inn as if it was your own home. So many options are offered for additional charges, but any of them should be highly considered as you'll want to make the most out of staying in this amazing vacation destination. We stayed here for Thanksgiving last year. The owner was not friendly. The kitchen was beyond filthy if you knew what was in there you would not eat the food. The owner made me feel very unwelcome. They had several violations previous for being a dirty establishment they had to come and clean the kitchen before we could cook our meal there as we had rented the whole property and the kitchen was beyond filthy. They could have a great place if they were nicer and cleaned up the filth in the kitchen. It was nice that they had drinks on each floor. read more

My wife and I recently counted and it turns out we've stayed at the Lake Pointe Inn 11 times in the past 4 years. There must be a reason we keep coming back - actually, there are several! As B&Bs go, this is about as good as it gets. The staff are courteous and professional, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the Deep Creek area is beautiful in every season. The original home was a farm house, which has been expanded and beautifully restored. It is difficult to tell which parts of the home are original and which are additions; they all blend together seamlessly. Each room is different, so check the website to see what suits you best. Some rooms are most spacious than others and some offer extras like a balcony or hot tub. If you're staying on the weekend, be sure to note that they require a 2-night stay. Breakfast is certainly a highlight at the Lake Pointe Inn. Every day is a new culinary adventure, with fresh ingredients, creative invention, and an artistic presentation. In the evenings during the warm weather months, Steve will lead a free boat ride on the lake for any guests wishing to explore the waters. He's a great source of information on local attractions so be sure to ask him about places to go and things to see. Cell service in the Deep Creek area is spotty. My cell phone (verizon 4G) generally gets 1-2 bars throughout the area, but my wife (also verizon, but 3G) has no service. Fortunately, the Inn has free WiFi if you really need to be in touch with the world, but try not to spend too much time online, there are plenty of places to see around the Inn. One last tip/warning... free chocolate chip cookies... good ones... they're awesome... no, seriously... If you're considering a stay here, stop thinking about it and book it! After a recent deployment and a slew of hardships, my husband booked a romantic weekend getaway us at the Lake Point Inn resort (B&B) - and I cannot express just how amazing our stay was. Scott, the owner, as well as his staff went above and beyond to make us feel like family. In fact, the atmosphere was so welcoming we made friends among the other guest as well. We stayed in the newly renovated Inn Keepers Flat - a one bedroom apartment with separate outside access. The bedroom featured a kitchen equip with your essentials, tea/coffee and water compliments, a spacious bedroom, jetted tub, and warm and cozy fireplace. Aside from the room, the breakfast menu offered TASTY options for all diets, and they provided a happy-wine-hour in the evenings with hors d'oeuvres. The main house featured a beautiful and warm common area with a large stone fireplace and beautiful views of the lake (in our case, a frozen lake with ice fishers... quite entertaining). Aside from the features of the Inn, the staff, including Scott, could make anyplace feel like home. They were kind and welcoming - and beyond accommodating. My husband and I didn't feel much need to leave the inn hardly at all, and yet, still felt fulfilled and rejuvenated. We are now in a committed relationship with the inn, lol. Can't wait until we return in the spring/summer this year. This was our 6th visit. We've stayed in most rooms; our two favorites are Savage and Glotfelty. The Inn is clean, cozy, and conveniently located right on the lake. They also have a nice dock which is perfect for renting a boat, or just casting a line. The staff, including Scotti, Kari, and Victoria are wonderful. read more

The staff was more than awesome. It was a nice getaway. Our room, the Friend room, was really nice. The room was clean. It had a nice view. The backyard, porch, patio area was really nice to chill out on. Good thing to know, book the massage when you book the room so you can make sure you can squeeze one in there, however, if you can't get it, Massage at the Lake (not far away at all) is really good. They always had beverages and snacks out (fresh fruit, cookies, banana bread). Free pontoon/boat ride every evening at 6 pm. Bonfire nightly, weather permitting. Swallow Falls is nearby and supposedly the highest waterfall (52 feet). A VERY easy hike. You can swim in it, and plenty people do, but the water isn't clear/blue, and is quite brown. Foods to eat: Canoe on the Run for sandwiches. Mountain State Brewing Company for pizza. Brenda's pizza was okay, it's just super huge- they only have two sizes (16" and 22"). I like Mountain State Brewing Co. better, it has thin crust pizza (and cheaper price) and other things you can order. We'll definitely come back. ~Thao read more

We spent a night here and wished we could have stayed longer! Honestly, this is the best bed and breakfast we have ever been to. The staff were kind and down-to-earth. They really made us feel welcome. The room was large and comfortable (McHenry Room). While the bathroom was not exactly modern (judging by the gold Jacuzzi fixtures, I am going with 80's), it was absolutely fine. We did enjoy that Jacuzzi. The room look brand new. Fantastic, comfortable bed! TV was flat screen, kind of small, crappy sound--oh well. The only other negative to this place would be the thin walls. I listened to a long phone conversation from the next room. Johns Hopkins is not making any money? What? Should have asked that guy about it... They definitely do not let you go hungry at the Lake Pointe Inn! Snacks, cookies, fruit, cereal, microwaveable popcorn, hors d'oeuvres.. All delicious. Very yummy chocolate chip cookies! Oh, but do they let you go thirsty? Of course not! Fancy coffees and teas, hot cocoa, beer, wine (at certain times), sodas, juices, I don't know what else. This exceeded our expectations. The common areas are beautiful. In fact, the whole place is beautiful. You can sink into cozy chairs and watch the fire. Or watch the lake! The view is fantastic, because the inn is right on the lake. We were here in the winter, and the lake was frozen over. Again, beautiful, fantastic, ethereal. If you are stuck inside by weather or just want to rest, you can play chess or checkers in the library. Or you can take advantage of the huge DVD collection, which is what we did. We watched a movie that just came out a few months ago. The wifi is nice and strong, so you can always hang out on the internet. If that is your thing on vacation. ;) Breakfast was so good!!! There is always a selection of juices, fruits, cereal, coffee, etc. The day we were here, the starter was pineapple with coconut cream yogurt, topped with toasted coconut. My friend does not like pineapple but still enjoyed this dish. The main breakfast was biscuits with sausage gravy, some kind of herbed and sautéed (?) tomato, breakfast potatoes, and eggs. Note that breakfast is not buffet style; it is cooked to order. Breakfast time is 8:30-9:30, which worked great for us. The location is perfect if you are here for Wisp, as we were. It is not within walking distance if you are carrying skis (unless you are super buff), but it is two-minute drive. We could see the slopes, which is exactly what we wanted--to know when things were nutty and when less crowded. Plus the ambience. But be warned that if you have a Wisp view, you also have a parking lot view. I think it would be nice to come here in a different season. They have kayaks, canoes, and bikes. Again, they are right on the lake, so taking a canoe out would be fun. We cannot wait to come back! read more

My husband and I stayed at the inn this past Sunday night. It was excellent in every way and we wish we had booked more than 1 night. We stayed in the Friend Room which had a super comfy king bed, a soaking tub and a fireplace. It also had a little reading nook with windows facing the lake. So cozy and comfy! The inn has a large library of dvds if you want to curl up and watch a movie. They also have games and puzzles you can enjoy in front of the fire. Breakfast was delicious, fresh cantaloupe, fresh squeezed Oj and walnut waffles...yum! They had snacks and drinks all day long as well. We are very excited to come back in the summer months to enjoy the lake and warm weather activities! read more

My boyfriend and I just returned from a weekend away at the Lake Pointe Inn. It was mostly middle aged couples seeking a weekend away from their kids! This inn is 16 years old and over and that's just one perk! We stayed at the inn most of the time. We hung out in the hammock overlooking the lake, went kayaking, swam in the lake and spent the rest of our time eating! Breakfast is gourmet, and it's followed by chocolate chip cookies, snacks all day and roasted marshmallows by the firepit. It was a great weekend and an awesome place to stay. Absolutely amazing B&B! Located in a gorgeous secluded area. Lots of amenities available to you at no charge. Including beverage stations on each floor stocked with coffee, soda, juice, beer, & wine. Cookies and fresh fruit were also available all day in the kitchen. We took advantage of checking out a canoe for free and had a great time! There is also a fire lit every evening and a boat ride (weather permitting). As well as appetizers served at 5pm. We stayed in the Browning room and loved our view of the lake and private balcony. The innkeepers were all so helpful and very friendly. Breakfast was amazing as well. If you're looking for a weekend away for some REAL relaxation I highly recommend this B&B! Our Favorite B&B Ever! We have stayed at the Lake Pointe Inn in McHenry, Maryland eighteen times since out first stay in January of 2012. Our last visit was the second weekend of April 2017. In October of 2016, the Inn changes hands from Linda and George (long time owners) to Lenina and Scott. We were optimistic that Linda and George would make an excellent choice. Our first impressions of the new proprietors were delightful and as we got to know Lenina and Scott better we are positive they love the Inn just as much as we do. On one of our trips we went to the Mountain Fresh Farmers Market in Oakland, the Simon Pearce Glass factory store and stopped by the Four Storm Gallery for a glass blowing demonstration. We chilled at the Inn and had many amusing conversations with the other guests. We also enjoyed just sitting by the fire pit at night roasting homemade marshmallows. In the winter season, Wisp Resort is open and we go for the snow tubing. We planned an offsite massage but we think we will have one in the Inn at some point. One visit, weather was icy and our thoughtful hosts, Lenina and Scott, made lunch for the house so we all could wait until it warmed up. The breakfasts are top notch and very big. There are always cookies and other tidbits out for the guest to nosh on. The beer, wine, sodas and all sorts of coffees flow all day long and the afternoon "snacks" are more like a light dinner and we often pass on going out to dinner. Lake Pointe Inn is in good hands. Lenina and Scott are an enthusiastic couple. They comprehend the guest's fondness for this very extraordinary place. read more

My husband has started a tradition of taking me to nice B&B's for my birthday weekend. This year was Lake Pointe Inn and I was so excited! Despite a few hitches, we did have a good time. First, I do plan on returning during the warmer months because we did not get to take full advantage of everything the Inn had to offer due to the snow/cold. The porch looked like it would be heaven on a summer night and I love the lake. The staff was friendly, the common amenities of the hot beverages, snacks and the stocked mini fridges were great! I loved the great room, though we didn't get to use it. We had the McHenry room and the furnishings were so charming and cozy. I loved the fireplace and even the books on the shelf were well-chosen and had a great variety that would please anyone. The armchairs were squishy and to my surprise, the room was so cozy - no draft whatsoever, given the cold and the fact that the windows are older. And don't get me started on the HUGE TUB. The jacuzzi tub is the biggest one I've seen in a hotel room period! So amazing. The bathroom was packed with everything - bath salt, nice smelling handsoap, lip balm, cotton balls and my favorite - a little towel turbini for your hair after the bath. I could have packed half the stuff I did because they had everything. Now, the downsides were pretty big, but everything else was so awesome, I really would book it again. The number one complaint we had was the terrible bed. The bed made noise when we rolled over and it was very 'bouncy'. You can feel every movement your partner makes. And the mattress was very uncomfortable. So much so, that my husband slept stretched out on the two armchairs with the ottoman in between both nights. Since we had gone away to relax and have a romantic time, this was really disappointing. I think the next upgrades should definitely be in king size beds with memory foam mattresses. The second downside is the location of the Inn. It is tucked in a residential community with houses very close on either side. The second night I was kept awake by very loud neighbors (in the community, not Inn guests) past 1:00 am. This was our second sleepless night and we actually contemplated leaving right then to drive 3 hours home since we were so wide awake. I realize that the Inn keepers have no control over noisy neighbors, so this is a risk people have to take. Our room faced the parking lot/Wisp, perhaps a room facing the lake would have been quieter. Finally, the breakfast the first morning was OK. The french toast had not absorbed any egg mixture, so it was dry. My husband's potatoes tasted really good. I read other reviews that said they were able to order a more traditional breakfast of 2 eggs, potatoes and meat. I would have preferred this option, but it was not presented to us. The baked goods, strawberry salad and the coffee were excellent. I would also love the option of room service for breakfast. We both ended up getting sick our last night (not from the Inn!) and having the ability to order up to the room would have been great. We ended up checking out before breakfast because we were feeling so under the weather. All in all - beautiful property and with a few tweaks, I'd be a happy camper! This cozy, exclusive and charming waterfront B&B has become one of our favorite destinations for a short vacation from work. We stayed at the Lake Pointe Inn (LPI) in the weekend before July 4th holiday. It is our second stay in this property. Our first visit was during the peak of winter. This B&B is more enjoyable in summer. Boat ride every evening was soothing. Guests can get into lake water and swim if they want. Additionally, guests can lay on the chairs outside (under tree shades), bask in the sun and enjoy lake view. This bed and breakfast offers gourmet evening snacks to guests. If you are vegan or vegetarian, no worries. You will have options for you during breakfast. Coffee tastes great!!! Some of their rooms are lake facing with a really great view. Hosts/Innkeepers Scott & Lenina and staff are very wonderful. They care! There are more great things to say about the LPI. This is a really well-maintained fine B&B. I absolutely LOVED my stay here. The inn is beautiful - we stayed in the McCann Suite, which has a fireplace, lake view, and a little balcony with chairs overlooking the cove. Perfect for a weekend getaway, we played bocce on their court, swam with the ducks (and fed them pizza!), went on the daily pontoon ride, and sat around and got some R&R. They have a well stocked drink bar on every floor, with beer, wine, sodas, everything! They also have snacks out all day if you need something to munch on. They even make their own marshmallows that you can toast on their nightly fire. Our breakfast was absolutely amazing - nut filled pancakes with fresh peaches and turkey bacon. Yum. This was one of the best B&B stays we've ever experienced. For a relatively inexpensive place compared to some resorts, this place included a lot of unexpected surprises: bikes and boats to take out (no charge), lots of fresh fruit and snacks all day long, a campfire area, croquet set, dock with great access to the lake, hammock, and mini-fridges all around for both your food and stocked with beers, sodas, etc. The staff was amazing. We highly recommend doing the 6pm boat ride. It was a blast. Stayed in the Garrett Room and it was beautiful with a Jacuzzi, steam shower, and very comfortable bed. Free Wi-Fi. read more

Wonderful each and every time. Our favorite B&B by far. While we lived in Md, we continually came back here. It is a true bed and breakfast, and well worth the price. Rooms are beautifully appointed in the mission (arts and crafts style), well thought out, and plush. Living rooms are comfortable for lounging. They have all the details well thought out. Wine and Cheese hour. Boat rides. Marshmallows for nighttime fires. Well stocked beverage fridges you help yourself to. Snacks (and homemade cookies) out all the time. And best of all, no kids allowed. The breakfasts are a multi-course, and amazing. Their are no 'choices' for breakfast, but don't be stodgy - I guarantee it will be wonderful. I cannot comment on the experience of staying at the inn. However, I had a very negative experience with their customer service. My girlfriend and I checked the availability of rooms for an upcoming weekend through their website. We booked a room and even got a confirmation. After we made our arrangements to go, we received an email stating that the room is only available if booked for two night and we therefore lost our reservation. While I understand having a policy such as this, there was no information about this on their website. The website even allowed us to book our room. When I called Lake Pointe Inn, I was basically told tough luck. She told me to look at other B&B's in the area because I lost my reservation. I'm very disappointed in this terrible customer service and will not be spending my money here in the future. read more
