Ella's Enchanted Treehouses - One of the many fairy gardens

    Ella's Enchanted Treehouses

Such a cool place…read more My family and I (two adults, two kids) stayed in the Gathering Tree. It featured three beds, a master bedroom with a private deck, a large main deck, a spiral staircase, a dining room table, mini fridge, hot plate, two futons, kitchen utensils, a small TV with DVD player and coffee making equipment. There are lots of places to lounge both inside and outside the tree. Outside the treehouse there is a fire pit which we used for s'mores and potatoes. There is a place to purchase firewood right on Ella's property. The property has a .75 mile trail through the woods with numerous animal discoveries along it. My son and I enjoyed trying to find them all and predict what would come next. The property also had many fairy gardens around it. There is also a fort building area giving families many options to do outside. Ella's is an awesome, upscale nature experience in the Deep Creek area. We will definitely return during our next visit to Deep Creek.

I love getting away and being surrounded by nature and this by far is the place to do just that. We stayed at the gathering tree... inside and outside the tree house exceeded our expectations. As soon as we stepped in we felt relaxed and excited. We explored some nearby state parks, enjoyed a fire outside, sat on the back deck to drink our morning coffee, went for walks, played games and enjoyed just being in a treehouse! Cannot say enough about it!

A wonderful b&b! I met up with some family and we all stayed for a few days using the Inn as a home…read morebase while we explored the area. The innkeeper, Scott, knows how to make you feel at home. For breakfast, there is actually a menu where you get to choose from quite a few choices which is very rare in a b&b. Everything was delicious. He also provides snacks and wine every day in the late afternoon and there are always sweet treats like cookies and brownies available as well as coffee and teas. There is a small gift shop where they sell some Lakepoint Inn shirts, sweatshirts and mugs as well as bottles of wine. There are so many wonderful seating areas, all with views of the lake whether you want to sit in rocking chairs or comfy wicker chairs on the porch or at some bistro tables on the back patio or Adirondack chairs by the fire pit. As a free service he also offers hour long rides on his pontoon boat every morning (weather permitting), you just need to sign up. There are also kayaks and canoes available to use for free, you just need to sign a waiver. Scott is a gracious host and the Inn is wonderfully appointed, you lack for nothing. The only complaint I would have is that if you stay in the Vagabond Room, be aware that because it is on the ground floor and right beside the kitchen, you will hear people talking and the hustle and bustle of breakfast being prepared. Not a problem if you're an early riser at about 5:30. But the room was huge! And felt very luxurious with bookshelves and a seating area and fireplace. We will definitely be returning to this Inn!!!!!! I can't say enough great things! Oh, also the location is fantastic, you're near everything!

The innkeepers are very attentive to detail, the staff is great, the rooms are lovely, breakfast is excellent and made-to-order. I was living in California and every time I'd get back to the east coast, she'd suggest going here. Unfortunately, we never got to experience a visit here together after she suddenly passed from an aggressive cancer. It became my goal to come here and visit with her on my mind. Years later, I moved back to the east coast and booked a random weekend just for fun. I'm married now with kids so we made the drive here to experience all that the Omni had to offer. I've stayed at other Omni resorts and I wavered on what this place would land on ratings wise. Overall, it's a beautiful hotel with a lot of history that I loved learning about. My kids absolutely loved the indoor pool. It is as gorgeous as the photos look. It's a nice spot, especially when it's a chilly Pennsylvania day like when we visited. With that said, there isn't a ton to do here with kids. It was the perfect amount of time for us, but met other families who were struggling to keep their own kids occupied. There are some really nice trails around the property, which are perfect. And you can also check out some free toys and games from one of the shops inside. That said, if you don't have great weather, options can be limited. We didn't get a chance to visit the spa, but the space looks amazing from what I saw online. The rooms were spacious and well set up for a family. We ate at a few of the restaurants on site. Service was mostly on point though the tavern was really off. Our server was perfectly friendly but pretty much messed up the entire order. I would go back but not sure I'd be eager to rush back anytime soon. We did enjoy the experience but I think a few bumps could be worked out such as helping with our luggage upon arrival. We were able to valet but couldn't find anyone to help us with the bags and the rolling carts don't easily go over the front door to get inside. Between me and my partner, we were able to make it work. But it's those small details that make a property really stand out.

Afterward, we had lunch at the Frontier Tavern, and everything was fantastic. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the food was absolutely delicious, and the service was outstanding. Every member of the staff we interacted with went above and beyond to make our visit special. From the spa to lunch, the entire experience was memorable and truly exceeded our expectations. It was the perfect way to celebrate a birthday, and we can't wait to come back again.

The pools and hottub are a nice touch as well! As with any place that's been around for 100+ years, you can't expect perfection. The rooms are old school and purposefully lack common modern hotel amenities - such as a microwave or fridge. I also note that my bathroom had a steady stream of little ants on the floor/sink vanity. Didn't impact my stay, but if you are looking for things to whine about you are likely to find them. I strongly recommend Summit Inn so long as you know/acknowledge that staying in a place like this will have minor drawbacks but in its totality is a unique and pleasant experience beyond a place to lay your head at night! Thanks for having me!

Also, arrive on time to check in. Don't come early and don't come too late. They won't check you in early, even just to secure your spot. come later and lose your spot, lose your money. Very old-school back asswards, "not my fault" process and policy. We went there last weekend to stay there after a wedding. We booked it online from a click through on their website. We booked a large suite with two beds and a pullout for $258. We tried to check in at noon, but they wouldn't accept us. We told them we wouldn't be there till after 10 PM and they still wouldn't accommodate. We arrived around 11 PM and tried to check in but they had already given away the large rooms so it's a good thing we didn't have my kids with us or they would've had nowhere to sleep!!! They actually told us that the booking online is not their problem, not their fault or responsibility to make right. And let's talk about that front desk service. I don't know why I had to wait so long so many times, but I did. And they did not refund us for using the smaller room. So rude. What a horrible little enterprise. the historic charm was lost on me from irritating and poor service!

Luxury experience…read more... Nemacolin is a place of awe offering so many amenities, views, activities, and much more. I stayed in the Chateau which did a fantastic job of integrating its artwork throughout while complimenting its architectural design. It felt as if I entered a historic museum. Butler service started the moment you get past the security checkpoint at the main entrance. Car valeted, bags to your room, and a bath can be ready for you. All and I mean all of the staff were super friendly and hospitable. There is a cigar lounge and shop that has a decent selection of spirits and cigars. Outdoor seating is also available on the massive patio area which connects to the lobby bar. For the sake of exclusivity I did not post the room interior. I did stay in the king bedroom which had multiple chandeliers, fully digital control operated lighting, curtains, and tv from the iPad. There was a proper coated iron tub which your butler is willing to make for you. Just call and request. The toilet was definitely what you'd expect in a luxury room, Fully automated, climate controlled seat, adjustable water temps and pressure, massaging, UV light, and several other features. In short walk up to it, handle business, still wipe yourself, and walk away. The shower had plenty of space and offered the waterfall/overhead feature most ideal for washing hair. The bed was comfortable and cooling. I do recommend ordering from the pillow menu. As a bonus there is a sweet treat brought to your room every evening. There is a menu for wake up call and refreshment service in the morning. Make sure you put the time in thirty minute increments. When I doubt rely upon your butler service. The housekeeping provided was excellent and comically enough it seemed everything I got out the bed and left I came back it was fully made. I was very appreciative of that. Don't worry about the PJ's landing and take offs. The noise cancellation in your room is more than adequate. 5 out of 5

However, parking at our lodge was a constant battle as staff members frequently took up guest spots. The resort has fun, quirky artwork and a great commitment to sustainability (the bee sanctuary was a highlight), but it is a mixed bag overall. The animal exhibits left us feeling a bit uneasy, as the animals seemed depressed. Service was also inconsistent. While the staff was generally nice, it was clear they need better training on luxury guest hospitality. Service took a major nosedive during prime dinner hours, and bars frequently ran out of signature ingredients. The dining was our biggest letdown. At Fawn & Fable, we were plagued by fruit flies/fungus gnats during dinner. The cocktails were easily the best on the resort, and the prime rib was good (though unmemorable), but my brother's steak was completely overcooked. Gusto!, the Italian spot on campus, was fine but ultimately forgettable. Nemacolin is an interesting place with plenty to do, and I can see it being a magical winter wonderland with snow. But right now, it lacks the execution and polish to justify a luxury tag.

My two sisters and I (and our significant others) came to celebrate a milestone birthday and were beyond impressed with this place. The ambiance is fantastic! The courtyard is beautiful as well as the patio in the back. The decorating that Kitty has done throughout the inside of the house is really beautiful. And as David says, "We want to concentrate on two things: The bed, and the breakfast." And that is exactly what they have done here. Each evening, David will come to offer your breakfast choices for the following morning. And it's not just bacon and eggs people... these are GOURMET offerings all made fresh on site using fresh ingredients. We had a choice of a peach cobbler oatmeal that had peaches from the tree in the backyard even and it was delicious! There was also one addition that just made my stay even more superb... a little dog named "Jack" and he is the most precious (smiling) doggie that I have ever seen! So stinkin' CUTE! Anyway... if you are ever in the area (checking out Frank Lloyd Wright's work) you should definitely give this place a shot. They are phenomenal! Thank you David and Kitty! I hope we get to come back again soon. :)
