We stayed in a small A-Frame. The interior was clean with plenty of space. Since last year there have been some new additions to signage, some new cabins, and firewood was readily available to campers for purchase through Venmo or via your account (honesty is the best policy type of agreement). The campsite is 1.5 hours from our home in Frederick and my family will continue to visit this wonderful place in the years to come.

We stayed in Turkey Cabin 1, which was clean and adequate for two adults and two children. The full-size refrigerator was a nice feature and gave us plenty of room for food and drinks. One thing to be aware of is that the cabin photos on the website can be a little misleading. They may give the impression that Turkey Cabin 1 has a separate bedroom, but the main bed is actually in the living area. Our friends stayed in the Grouse House, which did have a small separate bedroom. So, if having a separate bedroom is important to you, make sure you confirm the cabin layout before booking. The stairs leading to the loft are another thing worth mentioning. They have very shallow steps and a fairly aggressive incline and, in my opinion, are not built to normal building-code standards. Thankfully, we had no issues with our two 11-year-olds using them, but I would definitely be more cautious with younger children or anyone who has difficulty with stairs. The campground store was convenient, but I think it could be stocked with more basic necessities such as milk, butter and similar items. It did have many of the typical camping essentials, including items like batteries and other supplies, so it was still useful to have on site. We rented a golf cart, which was definitely worthwhile. The electric cart had surprisingly good power and handled the campground's stone roadways very well. It was a convenient way to get around the grounds. The pool was clean and well maintained. As someone who owns a pool, I pay attention to water quality, and the pool appeared to be fresh and properly maintained from a chemical-balance standpoint. The biggest disappointment for us was the fishing. We were there over Labor Day weekend, and the fishing was very, very slow. The larger lower lake appeared to have more activity and life than some of the other areas, but we saw very few fish being caught aside from a handful of bluegill. If fishing is going to be a major part of your camping trip, I would keep expectations modest. Overall, I would recommend Benner's Meadow Run Campground for people looking for a casual camping experience with clean grounds, decent amenities, golf-cart access and some activities over holiday weekends. It isn't a luxury camping experience, but it provides a comfortable enough setting for a family camping trip, especially if you go in knowing what to expect from the cabins and fishing. Last concern about the cabin was that the hot water lasted maybe 2 minutes. Dreadful. Use the shower houses if you require more time like most do.

Pros: family friendly, many activities included in your stay, nice and laid back cabins, wonderful trip if you are with those with a disability (rent a golf cart and cruise around all week) Pro or con- you decide: Not sure if it's a pro or con but they've cracked down on golf carts. They've become very strict and have people patrolling at night. It's chaotic and the workers don't know what's going on because it's so crazy at times however they seem to be flexible and find ways to figure it out. For example the lemonade server will get you a coffee pot for your cabin if you need one and the golf cart maintenance guy will figure out how to get you your salad you ordered a while ago lol. It's very unorganized and you can tell the workers are a bit lost but they roll with it and get it done. The store is very overwhelmed with the majority of the campgrounds tasks There's some blurred lines and instructions with activities. If you are a regular you will Know what's going on but if not, you won't. Example: there was a hayride that cost money scheduled at a certain time. We showed up with our money. We slowly realized as we stood in line that tickets had to be pre bought and scheduled a time. This wasn't listed anywhere. We asked people infront of us and behind us how they knew what to do and they said, "we just know because we've been coming her for years ." More details or clearer directions would be nice. Cons: the new keyless check in is a disaster- yogi does not have good cell service at all and even if you connect to their WiFi, it's still bad. Long story short, the wireless check in is not working. We opted for the old school key and entered our cabin that way. The campground is famous for its sold out annual Bluegrass festival yet it is gaining attention for its powwow events. It was very easy to find the campground. We went to the Five River Campgrounds for the Third Annual Powwow in Parsons in June 2025. It was the most meaningful pow wow I ever experienced. The owners of the campground (Joyce & John) gave the sales of the tickets to the powwow to the MMIW (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women) Memorial Grove. The non profit organization is involved in promoting awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. Some of the performers gave their earnings to MMIW Memorial Grove as well. The Five Rivers Campgrounds owners welcomed us with open arms and immediately noticed us as photographers. We do a lot of philanthropic work in photography yet we rarely get noticed or thanked by many people for it. The owners of the campground were selling tee shirts and stickers with our photography. We had given permission to have our photography used to the performer we have taken the photo of and we were happy to see that he & the owners of the campground were displaying our photography on tee shirts and stickers in the campground shop. The campgrounds are beautiful with views of the mountain. Immediately staff helped us park and alerted us of the speed limit on the campgrounds. The powwow was held outdoors and there was an open air arena with a roof to provide shade. The stage in the venue had a shelter and a good view. You had to provide your own seating, yet we knew that beforehand. The fee for the pow wow was $10 for two days, and we captured the most memorable and beautiful photos we ever took on those days of performers in regalia against green foliage and the mountains. The powwow was small yet the amazing camaraderie and performers were unforgettable. This was one of the finest powwow venues in ambiance, performance, connections, and professionalism we ever experienced.
