The cabin is so convenient to the resort, and a crockpot in the kitchen is exactly what the doctor ordered when it gets cold...set it and forget it ;) We will be back for ski season, for sure!!! thank you!!!

Make the Alpine Retreat your Destination at Seven Springs…read more ....use the resort for skiing and save the $$$$. Location. You can walk to Seven Springs Mountain Resort from Alpine Retreat. Parking is easy in and easy out, I recommend in heavy winter and tough seasons to contact the host to make sure all roadways are safe if you don't have 4 wheel drive. Alpine Retreat. A home more comfortable than home. It is warm and cozy and inviting. The two fireplaces are fully stocked with wood, the fridge is stocked with all necessities and extra beverages and food (in case you lack preparation... such as I). Also everything is labeled so you don't have to search to find anything in the kitchen or throughout the house. There is firewood well stocked, with an outdoor firepit for cooking and relaxing. Underneath an outdoor deck that can host a large group, with a grill and bar, sits a six-person jacuzzi with bluetooth connection. There is ample land to enjoy lawn games and a good game of catch. Lastly, there is a basement cove with a bar that would make for a good night cap after the hot tub cover goes back on. Our Experience. Our host picked us up some craft Sam Adams beer and made us dinner. I don't want to promise that this exception is made for all the guests, but I have never been better received by a host in any hotel or inn I have ever stayed. We had a massage therapist come for a traveling massage from Body in Balance Healing Center. $100 for an hour (excluding gratuity) was so much cheaper and personalized than the overpriced spa at Seven Springs. I slept like a rock, but I did bike (not very well) quite a distance before my stay. The sheets were fresh and clean and everything was spotless in the house. We were encouraged to eat the food, use the washer/dryer and put our feet up... which we did so well. Overall. Buy the ticket, take the ride. You won't have a better host, I would lay money on that. The house is cozy and inviting and I will be heading back there at the next opportunity. Thanks again!

Both the PFDs and the shuttle vans could use some updating, however. The canoe itself was fine, as were the oars. The river route was very peaceful, with the exception of some choppy water occasionally, with some rocks we had to maneuver around. We did get stuck in a shallow section, but that was on us for not realizing how shallow it was. The take-out was fine, if a little muddy. Overall a good experience.

The later 2 were relocated here and situated by the Wright Association. The former 2 were designed for the specific site. Currently a Frank Lloyd Wright, Jr (Lloyd Wright) is being added to Polymath Park. Bear in mind that the whole Park is 130 acres and to tour the houses is by van. When you're at one house, you can't see the other houses. A restaurant is on site by the visitor center. If you are going to Fallingwater, it is worth the time to add Polymath Park to your itinerary.

Then we were lead to a short shuttle bus that took us to each hour and then back to where we started. We had a great time learning about each house along with the history behind it. The architecture is super interesting and unique. Really the only downside is that you're now allowed to take videos but you can take pictures!

If you're looking for a clean, quiet, stay in a place with great history, check out Thistledown.

The fan in the bathroom was so clogged, it couldn't exhaust the steam. The gas oven in the kitchen was old, unclean and took two times longer to cook a dish than the recipe indicated. Three pieces of wood provided for the indoor fireplace. No firewood was provided for the outdoor fire pit. We had to pay $100 to have it delivered. The furniture is old and broken down. The owner has an adjacent (50 feet) kids play ground, but renters are prohibited to use it. This was a major disappointment for our younger children. Several of the lamps had light bulbs missing, or burnt out. No replacements available. The home was particularly dark. There were six bees in the living room. This was probably a beautiful home 15 years ago, but unfortunately it is desperately in need of care and updates now. We go to the Laurel Highlands annually with our extended family and stay at a different rental each year. We can attest that Veriles was our worst experience. There are many better choices.

Evidently, the owner maintained the main house as he did my apartment. Lots of promises without delivery. I wouldn't recommend this place or this owner to anyone. The Verlies is aptly named. It means "dungeon" -- named in the owner's anticipation of setting up S&M sex parties. This owner doesn't care about people or honesty. When I was there, it was advertised the property had a hot tub. (Does it work yet?) They told me it was too much maintenance and they had no intention of fixing it. They told their guests it was "temporarily" out of order and refused to offer discounts. Another time, there were only eight guests, yet they ran out of toilet paper! (The owner called ME and asked me to give them some of mine.) I have a serious love hate relationship with Hidden Valley…read more Let me start with the pros: - Smaller lowkey mountain = smaller crowds and shorter lines - A great place for a beginner to learn, my boyfriend learned how to ski at Hidden Valley. Every time we go to a bigger mountain (like Okemo) he says he would have been too intimated and overwhelmed, and would not have enjoyed learning there. - Epic pass: if you have the pass, it's super convenient Cons: - The rental process is long and chaotic. Lines can get long and disorganized. - Rental equipment is NOT GREAT. After renting equipment at some other mountains, we feel that the quality at HV is a significant downgrade - The bar (Glaciers?) is way too small to accommodate the crowd. HV is small, but the bar has maybe 10-15 tables, and they're ALWAYS packed. Unless you get lucky and show up as someone's getting up, you're out of luck. - Ice Ice, baby. I get this is part of east coast skiing, but those icy patches are not fun. All in all, this is fine if it's your local mountain, but keep your expectations low. If you're just looking to get out and hit some runs, Hidden Valley is definitely passible

A couple of differences from Seven Springs that I noticed and appreciated: the heat lamps and tent and the wider green/blue trails. I did my first blue trail run here!! I came on a Friday (1/29/21) and there weren't many people, so there wasn't a wait at the lifts. I also had a lot of space to myself on the trails! I liked the towline at the top between the North Summit and the Valley. I got in a few runs at the North Summit then took the towline to the Valley, and I thought that was pretty convenient! We spent about 5 hours here. We also ordered chili and Mac n cheese for lunch at Glaciers to Go, as grab and go items, which took under two minutes, then ate outdoors under a heating lamp. Some people chose to eat indoors at the restaurants, but personally, I'm not comfortable with that. I'm just glad there are options for everybody's comfort. I lost my phone and asked guest services if anybody had turned it in. Guest services was polite and helpful even though they didn't have my phone. They asked for a number they could reach me at if it was found. At 9pm that night, we got a text from Ski Patrol saying they had my phone! Picked it up the next morning!

Over the last several years I have visited Seven Springs a couple of times to use extra days I had…read moreon my Epic Day pass. Seven Springs is about a 3 hour drive each way for me. Getting to the resort is reasonable and while the parking is mostly free each time I have ended up parking in the East Lot which results in a long walk through the Main Lodge and then to the Ski Lodge; not a lot of fun in full ski gear and carrying my skis. Both of my trips were in early spring so the ski conditions were ok, but not great. The slopes had decent snow coverage but there were large stretches of dirt between the slopes. Seven Springs has a good lift system that gets you up the hill and to the slopes efficiently. The slopes near the Ski Lodge are a bit shorter and generally easier. The North Face slopes are a bit longer and more challenging. The general feeling at Seven Springs is that the slopes are very wide open with not a lot of trees near the slopes. Seven Springs is a decent place to ski, however I find that it is not really challenging or charming. From what I have heard it is a great place for families to have a ski vacation as the lodge is slopeside and there is plenty of family friendly activities available. For a one day trip it is just ok, but I would only go there if I need to use up a ski day on the Epic Pass. Of course if it was closer to me it would be more appealing, also I would expect that if the snow coverage is good it would also be more fun. With all that said a day skiing is still a great day, for me there are better options for skiing about the same distance away.

Conference food was mediocre, but on par with other big events done at a moderate price. Overall, the staff was friendly and helpful, and we did have fun at the bars. Now, I didn't ski there, but coming from the west coast, the ski hills seemed... tiny. Maybe there was some steeper stuff hidden away, and I am sure it would be a good place to learn, but you are going to graduate from the hills you can see from the resort pretty easily.
