My two sisters and I (and our significant others) came to celebrate a milestone birthday and were beyond impressed with this place. The ambiance is fantastic! The courtyard is beautiful as well as the patio in the back. The decorating that Kitty has done throughout the inside of the house is really beautiful. And as David says, "We want to concentrate on two things: The bed, and the breakfast." And that is exactly what they have done here. Each evening, David will come to offer your breakfast choices for the following morning. And it's not just bacon and eggs people... these are GOURMET offerings all made fresh on site using fresh ingredients. We had a choice of a peach cobbler oatmeal that had peaches from the tree in the backyard even and it was delicious! There was also one addition that just made my stay even more superb... a little dog named "Jack" and he is the most precious (smiling) doggie that I have ever seen! So stinkin' CUTE! The venue is beautiful, wedding was fabulous but...I don't think the owners quite get the "hospitality" thing. Our guest didn't notice the intrusions, but the staying, paying guest experienced their hovering presence. The owners were beyond controlling. There were TOO numerous encounters to site them all, just be forwarned and prepared, to share ALL with the owners, who appear to be so very nice the beginning. The food and desert tables, somehow ended up being managed by them, the band abruptly shut down at 11:00, they tried lock up our alcohol at 11:00pm, asked our guest to leave. Started vacuuming above the guest rooms at 7:00am, shut the water off in the farm house on Sunday morning: I could go on, but won't. The contact does say that the events are to end at 11:00pm, but during booking, they assured us that it was a soft rule, all could have been handled with more grace.

I came to the restaurant with a bunch of friends on a Friday evening. We were basically the only ones there, but we did get there later in the evening. The menu has a nice variety of items and prices. I opted for one of the burgers because it sounded tasty. It really was. Although it was a little too juicy so it made a bit of a mess eating it. Drinks were fairly priced and not watered down like they can be in some places. The highlight for me was the crab bisque soup. It was the perfect consistency and temperature and packed with flavor. I'd honestly go back just for that. Oh and the salads are HUGE. I didn't have one, but a friend did and you could easily get several meals out of one salad. It isn't someplace I'd drive out of my way to come back to (it is about an hour from my house) but if I'm in the area I'd definitely stop and eat again.

Parking is easy in and easy out, I recommend in heavy winter and tough seasons to contact the host to make sure all roadways are safe if you don't have 4 wheel drive. Alpine Retreat. A home more comfortable than home. It is warm and cozy and inviting. The two fireplaces are fully stocked with wood, the fridge is stocked with all necessities and extra beverages and food (in case you lack preparation... such as I). Also everything is labeled so you don't have to search to find anything in the kitchen or throughout the house. There is firewood well stocked, with an outdoor firepit for cooking and relaxing. Underneath an outdoor deck that can host a large group, with a grill and bar, sits a six-person jacuzzi with bluetooth connection. There is ample land to enjoy lawn games and a good game of catch. Lastly, there is a basement cove with a bar that would make for a good night cap after the hot tub cover goes back on. Our Experience. Our host picked us up some craft Sam Adams beer and made us dinner. I don't want to promise that this exception is made for all the guests, but I have never been better received by a host in any hotel or inn I have ever stayed. We had a massage therapist come for a traveling massage from Body in Balance Healing Center. $100 for an hour (excluding gratuity) was so much cheaper and personalized than the overpriced spa at Seven Springs. I slept like a rock, but I did bike (not very well) quite a distance before my stay. The sheets were fresh and clean and everything was spotless in the house. We were encouraged to eat the food, use the washer/dryer and put our feet up... which we did so well. Overall. Buy the ticket, take the ride. You won't have a better host, I would lay money on that. Karen and Don gave us a walking tour of the area and showed us all kinds of interesting flora and fauna. We had such a wonderful time relaxing, hiking, and enjoying the scenery. They had great tips on what to do in the area. Don gives fly fishing lessons and is a patient teacher. We had a fantastic breakfast and lots of interesting conversation. I think Karen and Don know something about everything. It was great. I was sorry that we had to be on our way. The good news is this is a 4 seasons area. I'm sure it's beautiful in the fall and is a short drive to Wisp Resort for winter skiing.

We were in town with family for a funeral and this was a very comforting place to gather and spend time with family and friends. The owners and staff are considerate and kind. They took marvelous good care of us.
