Our stay at the Historic Century Inn was nothing short of enchanting, Steeped in history and charm, this inn carries tales of esteemed guests like President George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, adding an undeniable allure to its ambiance. Walking through the corridors, one couldn't help but feel a sense of reverence for the centuries of stories woven into its walls. The prospect of encountering spirits said to wander its halls added an intriguing layer to our stay, as the inn is renowned as one of the most haunted places in the Pittsburgh region. However, despite our eagerness to experience the supernatural, our nights passed without any spectral encounters. Yet, this did little to dampen our enthusiasm for the inn. The warmth of its hospitality, the comfort of its rooms, and the exquisite dining experiences ensured that our time at the Historic Century Inn was unforgettable. While we may not have glimpsed the apparitions of bygone guests, the echoes of their presence and the rich tapestry of history woven into every corner of the inn made our stay an experience to cherish. We departed with memories that will linger long after our visit, eagerly anticipating the opportunity to return and perhaps uncover more of its intriguing secrets. We were greeted by a young nice lady who took us to our room and provided us a key for entry and exit of our room. It's unlike any stay that I was used to. I'm typically use to providing payment immediately, but not here, you settle your bill after breakfast. We quickly settled into your room. Started to take photos and I opened a new bottle of spiced whiskey from Liberty Pole Spirits is the only way to get started. We quickly navigated to do a tour of the inn and ended up at the tavern downstairs, having drinks and making friends with the bartender and guests that were at the bar. We had great conversations from wine to stories of haunted tails. Our dinner was served in a backroom which had a fireplace that I could easily fit in and knowing how big of a man I am height wise, it's impressive. The food was absolutely incredible. I would come here just to have dinner. The steak was probably the best steak that I may have ever experienced. Food and drinks were incredible. Followed with an incredible breakfast in the morning and finally meeting the inn keeper and owner Megan. She's incredibly sweet and nice as described. I can't wait to come back and stay again.

Grandparent's used to live in the area and on a recent vacation trip back from the West Coast they raved about how good Century Inn is so we just had to come! We made reservations one day in advance and when we came for dinner we were quickly seated in a cozy room towards the back of the building with a large fireplace. The decorations in the room were a fun Halloween theme too which added to the ambiance. Menu is seasonal with only 5-6 entrees to pick from which actually made it easier to pick in my opinion. I got the steak dinner which came with caramelized onions, potatoes and green beans. The meal was really tasty and I wish there had just been more of it!

Spent the day driving from Pittsburgh to Johnstown to Shanksville and then to Scenery Hill with my husband and his grandparents. His grandparents spent many years living in Pittsburgh and were back to visit and told us how much they loved stopping into century inn whenever they were in the area. They insisted on taking us there and we had a good time! The ambiance was really quite amazing with period decor and art. We were seated in the room with the fireplace at a larger table with two other guests at smaller tables in the same room. They brought us an antique high chair for our baby as well. So fun! I got the fettuccine with shrimp and sausage and my husband got the steak. Both were quite good with a lot of flavor. Portions were reasonable, but my husband had much less food than I did. If I'm being honest, I'm not sure the food was over $70 good. If I'm going to spend that much on a meal it had better knock my socks off, and while it was delicious it wasn't amazing. Had our baby been up for it, we would have ordered dessert, it looked amazing, but he was ready to go home. Service was wonderful and professional! We had a great time in a historic place!

When they were young, my grandparents would take my mom and her siblings to the Century Inn for very special occasions. There was a fire at the Inn, but they reopened early this year. I never experienced dinner here pre-fire, but the space was refurbished beautifully, as if nothing had happened. My aunt and uncle were in town for the holidays, so we decided to make a reservation at Century Inn to kickstart our festivities a few days before Christmas. We made the drive from Pittsburgh to Scenery Hill in just about an hour. We were going to sit at the bar for a drink, but it was completely empty, so we just opted for our table. We started with some cocktails and wine and perused the menu. The salmon and the lamb made up the majority of our orders. The salmon was a sizable piece, and the lamb was phenomenal. We closed out dinner with some desserts - ice cream, creme brûlée, and the fried bread pudding. After dinner, we took a little tour of the rest of the dining areas and the guest rooms. The rooms upstairs were so charming! I would love to stay another time. We had a really nice dinner in this historic Inn; the service was great, the space was charming, all at a perfect spot for a holiday celebration.

Welcome back Century Inn in Scenery Hill!

They are back and you would never know that this place once suffered from a fire. The official opening date was 2-21-18. Reservations only are being accepted for lunch and dinner for the time being. This will change soon. Century Inn at Scenery Hill offers a vast array of indoor and outdoor dining rooms as well as a tavern. In each room you can smell the wood burning fireplaces and gives it a homey feel. I had made a lunch reservation and was warmly greeted by the staff. I sat down in a dining room facing the rear windows. I felt like I had walked into Colonial times. The menu is just how I remembered it. A must is their renown peanut soup which comes in two sizes. I choose the small and it came in a miniature soup tureen bowl. It was so good! Instead of choosing an entree since the soup was filling I opted for their spinach, pistachio, and quail egg salad. I ordered chicken as a topping. Believe me this salad did not disappoint. They use the finest ingredients and even the bone of the chicken was attached. My waitress told me they use premium farm raised chicken. It was moist and oh so tender! I really wasn't going to spring for dessert but changed my mind when I saw that chocolate pudding with a chocolate covered strawberry. The dessert wasn't too big but it was so rich!!! It made up for everything else. After I had finished my meal I was told I was welcome to "tour" the facility and ask any questions. I got to see all of the upstairs bedrooms which are named for famous historical people who once stayed there. I was amazed when I saw the old fashioned stove in one of the rooms and loved the adorable rocking crib and quilted pattern in another. Each room is unique in its own way. They can be used for overnight stays. Contact the Inn for more details regarding pricing. Lunch entrees normally come with potatoes and fresh fruit which today happened to be strawberries. WiFi is available. Please ask for pass code. I learned the main dining room is called the Music room. The artwork is superb in all the rooms. If you want to come for a special occasion or just for a meal the Century Inn is certainly worth going out of your way for.

It's been a while since we ate here. The Century Inn has just been remodeled beautifully after the fire. The atmosphere is absolutely charming. Perfect place for special occasions. They also have a lunch menu. Had the cider mule to drink and it tasted like fall. Delicious! My husband had the lamb and I had the hen. Everything was incredible! Others at our table had salmon, pappardale, and the filet. Everyone was satisfied and overall prices were reasonable.

A beautiful spot for a fancy dinner occasion. Lovely Christmas decorations but not overpowering. You can literally feel the history here. Bar kind of small but cozy with the fireplace. The waitress was pleasant. The food was good not amazing. It was a bit expensive. I wanted the shrimp but didn't want to pay $32 for pasta. We had the spinach salad and it tasted delicious. $8 .My filet was cooked perfectly but it didn't wow me. $36. My husband really liked his salmon. My filet was decently sized but I counted 4 little potatoes and literally 4 green beans. Bread was tasteless. Thin and bland. Creme brûlée was served in a 2 oz ramekin and was $7. It was good. All in all a nice place to go for a special occasion but way too pricey to go more than once or twice a year. I think you pay for the ambiance and that made it worth it.

I found Bonnie Dwaine through Yelp, and I am so glad that we chose to stay here! From the moment we arrived, the house was perfect for our stay. Our room was on the third floor, and was renovated with a king sized bed. The bed was extremely comfy, the space was large, and we had our own bathroom as well. We chose this space for the king bed, but although it was very nice it was missing the vintage/historic feel of the other rooms located on the second floor. This room was HUGE, and would be great for a family. If we stay again, I would love to spend time in one of the other rooms, they were all so beautiful and historic. Bonnie was a fantastic host. She was so kind, friendly, and extremely thoughtful. She had a lovely home, and took great pride in making her guests feel welcome and comfortable. The breakfast that was served was fantastic, and she even made us breakfast for the morning that we slept in, and had it sitting out for us with a note when we were finally able to make it downstairs to the dining room. 5 stars for the bed and breakfast, 5 stars for friendly Bonnie, and 5 stars for the location! Amazing Mexican restaurant nearby, and the Moundsville museum is free to guests - located minutes from B&B.

Looking around for some interesting and fun options we stumbled upon this B&B and decided to call to see if there were any openings. We were in luck! We quickly gave them some information and made our way down there. Upon our entry we were greeted warmly by Liberty the proprietor. She was wonderful and made check in super easy. I made myself some tea, helped myself to some gingersnap cookies, and got settled in for the night. The room was spacious and comfortable. The shower had a never ending (or so it seemed) supply of hot water and there was more than enough towels. I quickly felt at easy in the room and knew I would be getting a good nights rest. Breakfast, Liberty informed us, was held at two times, 7:30 and 9am. We picked to have ours early, which I was against, but it turned out wonderful. We got to eat a nice early breakfast and then went back to bed! Check out was at 11 so we got a few more hours of relaxing in before we hit the hiking trails. Yes, a late start, but the bed was too comfortable to leave! Breakfast was delicious. Scrambled eggs, french toast, sausage, and a fruit cup. They had orange juice, coffee, and tea. What a treat! The food was perfect. I could not ask for a better breakfast. This place was perfect. I would stay here again in a second. It was also so close to the attractions of Ohiopyle that it would be stupid not to suggest everyone to stay here!

Not to mention the breakfast was fresh and delicious AND. My favorite part.... during the afternoon Liberty put out brownies and cupcakes for treats!!! I'm a pig so that was awesoooome haha. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to be comfortable without spending a ton. About 5 minutes from falling water, 20 minutes from kentuck knob, 10 minutes from the windmills across from the stone quarry (worth a gander!) and I dunno. 10 minutes from Ohiopyle park? VERY close to everything!!!

Our hosts couldn't have been kinder or more helpful! Not only did they prepare perfect meals, and have a lovely room, they told us about the history of the inn, and helped us find local genealogists who could help us on our search. After all, they are on Balsinger Road, and I was looking for Balsinger ancestors! :-) We enjoyed walking around the beautiful property in the evenings. They had to laugh when I asked if there was any place nearby who sold rocks. I told them I liked to save rocks from places that are meaningful to me. I explained that my part of Texas has few rocks but lots of clay. They were still smiling when they said "we have a great big pile of rocks out back, so help yourself!" (I really wanted just two) I thought that was really sweet and thoughtful! I was very sad when I read the really negative review of their B&B and of them personally. They were nothing but kind to us. We love B&B's and always try to be guests that would be welcomed in someone's home, and give our hosts as good an experience with us as we would like to receive from them.

First, some of these previous reviews are a bit harsh. I would like to mention that the innkeepers, Nancy and Bill, do run an extremely tight ship here at the Inne. With that being said, the moment you step on the property you would understand why. The outdoor areas are beautiful, and impeccably well maintained. Once you walk inside, you will notice antiques galore. There is nothing about this bed and breakfast that is overlooked or not taken care of. It's extremely clean, and they are still taking covid percussions. As you book your stay you will notice that this isn't a "Hampton Inn establishment" Nancy, the innkeeper keeps track of everything on her own, mostly with pen and paper. Nothing here is done at morph speed, and based off of other reviews, it seems as though some guests take this the wrong way. When you arrive, the innkeeper will meet you in person and ask you what you would like to drink for breakfast the next day and if you would prefer a 8AM, or 9AM dining time. This was my first time staying at a bed and breakfast, so I didn't really know what to expect. We stayed in the "Laurel Suite" which is also known as the honeymoon suite. It was $199 for the night, and most certainly worth it. The bed was giant, with a huge sitting area and private bathroom with jacuzzi tub. I was really pleased with how quiet the Inne was, we slept great! It was tough, but I managed to plan for all of the other rooms in the Inne to be booked by family and friends staying for our wedding, this was one of my favorite parts of the whole weekend! Just being able to be together for the wedding, know we were all safe, and then eat breakfast the next day was amazing. We also took full advantage of the beautiful firepit outside, we sat out there pretty late and just enjoyed the peace and quiet of the surrounding farmland. The next morning for breakfast I was very happy with what the innkeepers prepared for us, again, it was Nancy and Bill making the food and bringing it to our tables themselves. They do it all! Beautifully presented stuffed french toast. This wasn't an optional meal choice, but they did ask if each guest wanted sausage or not (which appeared to be high quality) Ultimately, our stay was great. We had a wonderful wedding and a wonderful stay. The area itself, although it may not feel like it on the property, is still in Uniontown PA which is a very slow paced town (I can say this, I grew up here) Uniontown is a very old school town, and for the reviewers to say they are not welcome here, I could understand the feeling but also would like to say as the bride who booked the entire bed and breakfast, spent lots of money, and stayed here... I still didn't get the "Hi, so happy you're here" feeling from the Inne. The personalities here are quite serious, and to the point. I am telling you, don't take it personally. Their home is attached to the Inne, and they take everything that happens here very seriously - along with who stays here, they just care deeply about the Inne, and after staying and seeing how involved they are, I can understand the personalities described a bit more - they're busy people, trying to keep this place in perfect shape. If you are someone traveling from out of town, visiting Ohiopyle, or other destinations in the area - this is a wonderful, beautiful, quaint place to stay. Don't expect anything to be "at your finger tips" like we tend to do these days, booking here is like you take a step back in time. To me, once we got through the booking and planning, everything was smooth sailing. Rooms are nice, clean and affordable - and breakfast is provided! The outdoor areas may not have a pool or anything, but there are hammocks, 0 gravity chairs, and other nice perks. Please be mindful when booking, I would ask if there is a wedding going on that evening - you might not have the peaceful stay that I described in my review (since we were the ones up late that night and there was no one else staying at the Inne)
