What a fun place! I had been to the mall and plaza locations of this winery, but not the main location. I had no real idea what to expect in terms of the building, but I was familiar with their wines. There is a sign for the winery at the end of the road and you enter up a long driveway (with several signs warning about not bringing in outside food and drink). I had no idea that their grounds were as massive as they were! There was even a sign for a walking trail. I visited on a Monday in the winter, so I wasn't able to take advantage of their beautiful grounds, but after a great visit, I definitely want to come back in warmer weather and come for one of their events (or even just to enjoy some wine outdoors). They have a nice variety of wines. Many sweet, dry and fruit wines. They also have cocktails and other drinks. I like that more of the specialty establishments are starting to have extended offerings because it makes visiting more accessible to people who might not like wine or beer but still want to enjoy the company of someone who does or a specific event. I went in set on getting a wine slushie (they rotate their flavors, but every one I've tried has been delicious). They allow you to sample basically anything from their menu and you can order wine by the glass, bottle or as tasting flights. When I was there, they were still offering their Valentine's pairing which included four generous pours of red wines each paired with a gourmet chocolate. I really enjoyed the experience and everything was tasty. The service was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I asked questions about the wines, where the grapes are grown, how they come up with new blends and about events and they answered all of them. This is such a cute place! I love the wide open outdoor area, which is perfect for kiddos to run around. The staff have always been very helpful when choosing a wine and provide tastes to see if you like them. Their slushies are delicious and I really enjoy their Greenhouse red, which is a blend of merlot, pinot noir and cabernet - sourced from Erie. The food truck was a nice touch and a convenient way to get some food, but you can bring you own with you! I enjoy the variety of events held here - the comedy shows are always fun! read more

We have had a nice time the couple of times we have gone to Greenhouse Winery. There is generally live music, a big open space, both indoor and outdoor seating, food trucks, friendly service, and a nice assortment of different wines to enjoy. I would recommend sampling some and then purchasing and enjoying one you really like. read more

Greenhouse winery always gets me. They trick me into coming for a class and then before I know there are like 4 wine bottles mysteriously being packed into my car. Today was no exception. We did a CharCoolio making class today. I know I was a double major in art, but I'm just not very crafty. So not too shabby. And it tasted so good with the the additional dips and mixtures created by @wineandwhirlpgh This class was so fun and I'd definitely recommend it for anyone in the west PA area! Thank you Greenhouse Winery and @wineandwhirlpgh for the great event! I probably shouldn't mention it but I heard they're doing another Charcuterie Class in December. Wow a great winery that I've overlooked all these years! It's at the top of a mountain with great views. The wine is really good (I got a Cab Sav) and tons of good seating. It looked as if they're beginning to decorate outside for Christmas and seems like it will be pretty awesome when done. The staff was also very friendly and helpful! This property is absolutely gorgeous! You would never know it's tucked into the hills off the main highway of route 30. Once you drive up the big hill, it looks pretty basic at first. But when you enter and then go to the back patio, everything suddenly transforms into a cute oasis. I went here for my birthday and I loved the experience! I tried the cherry wine and fell in love with it. Sitting on the patio with the fountain running was incredibly peaceful. The fountain is also good for photo ops! They weren't serving food at the time but they did have bags of chips available for purchase. We take what we can get. Next time, I'll bring my charcuterie board which is what another table did and what a fantastic idea! The staff was very helpful and friendly in allowing me to taste multiple wines before deciding on a glass. I highly recommend and I'll be back myself. read more

My friend and I enjoyed our afternoon at Greenhouse! Because of new regulations, you are able to taste 3 different wines. Greenhouse Winery offer 2 new wines, mango and watermelon, and a returning one, lemon! If you love a sweet wine, I recommend! We bought a bought of April Showers, which is described as an moscato with peachy flavors. Even though it was raining, we were able to enjoy the covered outdoor patio. There are many tables available, including a couple cabanas that looked nice for group outings. I look forward to coming back to Greenhouse for another afternoon with friends! read more

My husband and I visited the winery for the first time to partake in movie trivia night. We had a great time! The winery is setback from other residences and businesses on top of a hill. The building itself is beautiful with ample counter space and seating for wine sampling. There's a larger banquet room inside the building where trivia was held. Almost the entire room was filled for the evening. If you purchased a bottle of wine, you could enjoy free chili and snacks during trivia. There was a large selection of wine with many fun and unique flavors. The also offered a small beer selection for those who didn't want wine during trivia. The interior was beautiful and would be a great location to host a bridal shower or small event (75-ish people?). I would recommend this place to all wine connoisseurs and small groups looking for a unique and charming location to host an event! read more

"Oh, what a night, late December back in sixty three"... Actually, I can say what a night, but it was late February in 2017. Greenhouse Winery held their first adult prom wine event and it was a fun night out! Not sure if its because it was an age-related, turn-back the clock opportunity, or that I just needed an anything goes kind of night. In any case, I think I had more fun at this prom night than I did at my own so many moons ago. This review is centered on the night's event. The facility itself is quite lovely, inside and out, and was an absolute perfect setting for the evening. The event was promoted as an adult prom party, complete with dinner, dancing, photo booth and wine tasting. ( no need to sneak alcohol into this prom!) Since this was not exclusively a couples only event, I decided to turn this into a girl's night out. Time to blow off the dust on those dancing shoes! I must admit, the closer this date approached, I begin to have mixed feelings about it being a lame affair. Their no-refund policy is probably a good idea for 2nd guessers like myself. My moment of relief occurred as soon as we stepped foot inside. Laughter and excitement filled the air! It was fun to see everyone dressed up in their prom-wear. The meal was served buffet-style and was average, though nourishing. It was a little odd that they did not offer a second serving of anything. We didn't know it was a one trip only to the buffet so when we returned to get some of the food we didn't place on our plates the first time, we were denied. The four star review is directed toward the choice of caterer. Overall, as stated earlier, it was a great night. New friendships and memories were formed, and the party vibe continued throughout the night. So much so, we had to remember to find our way home before the strike of midnight! read more

The wines were all good as we previously remembered. We sampled what we wanted at no cost. The lady was very helpful and nice. They were packed because they had an event happening (paint and sip). So this review is not going to be about the wine, but rather the experience we had at the actual winery. My boyfriend and I decided to come out here on a sunday, we both had the day off, there was a Black Sabbath cover band, and a food truck (gabagool pizzeria, unaffiliated with the winery) which we've been wanting to try. I sampled 5 wines and each one was very good. It was super busy so as soon as we paid for our drinks, we went to the food truck to order our pizza, then grabbed a seat nearby while we waited. Having never been here, I had very little expectations of interacting with the staff, besides ordering our drinks, which is how my experience has been at other wineries. Our pizza was going to be about 40 minutes, so we sat under a tent at a very large table. Nobody came over to us, but we would have gladly shared the space. About a half hour into our wait for the pizza, these two girls, one of which we assumed was staff because we saw her pouring drinks, came over and said "You guys can't sit here, it's reserved. We can find you somewhere else to sit" as they proceeded to sit down. We said we were fine, then walked around for a few minutes until we finally found one shaded spot on the patio. We asked the people at the table if they minded if we sat down at the very end, the man said that was fine. My boyfriend went back after about 10 minutes to grab our pizza, and noticed that the tent we were asked to leave was totally empty. Keep in mind that it was an 85 degree day, and while they had several coolers of water which you could grab for free, there were signs posted everywhere that guests weren't allowed to bring in any beverages, that included soda, water, alcohol (duh, that one makes sense) and if you brought a cooler, they were going to check it. After our pizza, I went to the bathroom and only on my way back out did I see a sign posted on the door that said "patio seating only available with purchase of a bottle of wine." Ok, yeah I get it. They don't want people bringing their own picnic, using the patio and not spending a dime, but to force you to have to buy a bottle just so you can grab some shade? Ridiculous. I really enjoyed my wine and wanted another glass, but that really annoyed me, so I asked my boyfriend if we could go, which he obliged (It really was too hot.) I checked the tent once more on our way out, it was still empty. How was I supposed to go about reserving it anyway? No one offered it to us. The girls who came over acted like it was super exclusive and in high demand, except like I said, they sat down for a bit, then nobody used it. I'll definitely not be going out of my way to get this wine, and I definitely won't be going back to the winery. We felt very unwelcome, like we were crashing some private event. PS. Gabagool pizza was excellent & Steel City Sabbath is a great cover band. read more

My husband and I purchased PA Wine Passes this year as an excuse to explore areas outside of Pittsburgh (like we need an excuse). It is a bit hard to find using Google Maps. If you do use Google Maps, check to see if it is taking you to Teak Road, or a road with a similar name. If so, that's basically the backside of the property and you cannot access it from there. You'll need to navigate over to Pinewood Road. We arrived on Saturday evening around 5pm and were warmly welcomed by the staff. We received 5 complimentary tastings and a glass with their logo. If you purchase a bottle and have the PA Wine Pass ($10 on Groupon this year), you'll save 5%. If you purchase 6 bottles with the Pass, you save 10%. There are several varieties to choose from whether you like semi-sweet or sweet. I prefer Pinot Grigio and Sauv Blanc. They do have one of each but both were a bit sweeter than I would normally like. I ended up purchasing a bottle of Chardonnay and my husband purchased a bottle of Concord. They do have a little something for everyone, so it's a great stop your own wine tour. The location used to be in a greenhouse, thus the name. They outgrew it and now have a large location here. They have a dining room where they host evens like brunch and murder mystery dinners (events listed on their website), a decent sized tasting counter, gift shop area, dining tables indoors, and a patio with lots of outdoor seating. In fact, they had live music this past Saturday and often do. Flyin' Blind was playing while were there and we had a lot of fun singing along to their covers. I recommend tasting a few wines, grabbing a bottle, and settling in to enjoy the beautiful weather and music. Oh! And don't forget to bring your own food if you'd like to have a picnic! The staff and their family/friends were all enjoying dinner together on the patio while the music played. It was a lovely experience! Not my favorite wine that I have ever had, but I would definitely go back just for the atmosphere. read more

I personally have been to this local wine gem 3 times, and for sure I'm planning on more. It's off the beaten path so it's a quiet place to enjoy great wine. Be warned if you're a wine snob this place probably isn't for you, but if you are a person who enjoys a nice time trying great wine then stop in. We stopped by here because we had the Westmoreland Passport and they were in the book. So we wanted to get our sticker. I haven't been here before but my wife has been. I wanted to try it out. We came here on a Saturday afternoon an hour before they closed. This winery is good all year round but driving up to it and walking in you can see how nice it is in the summer time. They have a lot of space to hang out and listen to bands and a lot of others things. We were warmly greeted and we got five samples to try. The lady was really nice and did a good job. I really like the Cab. We both got a glass each of wine and we went to sit down. The inside is nice and a decent place to enjoy some wine. It wasn't too busy but they can hold a lot of people. I did like the wine a lot and I would stop back here again. There aren't too many good wine places in Western Pa but I would say that this is a good one and I was pleasantly surprised that I liked it a lot read more

I just want to say how amazing my experience here was. My day was not going so well. My friend and I had a miscommunication with plans regarding what time we were meeting up. I got to the winery extra early and while I sat in my car waiting for her, I accidentally left my lights on and then my battery died. I went inside to ask the staff for help and immediately they jumped to help even though they were planning a huge event that night. Then my friend and I realized we forgot to make a reservation but the staff were able to make room for us anyway. I sampled almost all the wine they had and I loved every single one. Deciding which one I wanted to drink for the night was such a hard decision but I chose Tramp in the Weeds. It's a sweet wine but not too sweet. I could drink it any day of the week. The winery puts on a ton of events. Check their Facebook page because they have something almost every weekend. The event room is huge and they usually have a great music artist/band and a food truck as well. I can't get over how amazing the staff is here. I would go back again and again because of how helpful they are. The wine is just a bonus but it's extremely good as well. read more

Last time I was there we sat down wind of two gentlemen smoking what I think were old bull ropes. I actually went home smelling of cigars. I live in the area, and have been to the Greenhouse Winery location on route 30 and the original location at Hazuza's greenhouse plenty of times. Past experiences have been pleasant- friendly and helpful staff, and the wine is good. We actually had two of their brands at our wedding reception. Believe me, I'm no connoisseur, I just know what I think tastes good. Anyway... Two weekends ago, my friend and fellow yelper Carrie and I attended a murder mystery dinner at the newest Greenhouse Winery location on Pinewood Road. This was our first visit to this new location but certainly not our first murder mystery dinner, which we both love. (The husbands were left home on this occasion.) Our tickets cost $45 each, which included 5 free wine samples, dinner, and the show. This is more than any other show we've been too; most are around $32. The only difference is that they don't include the wine tasting. Since there are several moving parts to this event, I'll break them down for you as best I can: The winery: the place is up a long winding road, on top of a hill. It's very nice and in the summer I could see going up there with lunch, playing some bocce or horseshoes and drinking some wine (like rich folk do lol). We were told that they do not make or serve food, but they do have meat and cheese trays you can buy. You are permitted to bring your own food and make a day of it. The day we were there was extremely windy and, being on top of a hill, I could see this being an issue if you planned on being outside. As mentioned, we were permitted 5 free samples of wine, which we of course took full advantage of. Of course, a sample is really like 2 sips, maybe. You could 'buy' additional sips for $1 each or choose to buy wine by the glass or bottle to take into the show with you. So, hey, buy a bottle right...because it's the cheaper option in the long run. They also provided coffee, water, and pop (soda for you non-yinzers). The show: Fun and funny as usual. Although both of the winners were at our table and not us. Meh. The service: Nearly non-existent. At other locations, they have wait staff coming around to check on your table, take away plates, fill up water, etc. Not here, they had someone come around twice - once to take appetizer plates and once for dinner plates. I had to go back out into the winery area to ask for more water and I was told to please bring my carafe and they would fill it up. Umm, no. Anyway, the real issue laid with the drunks at the table behind us. They were talking loudly, laughing, and just all around being jerks. Everyone on our side of the room was visibly annoyed. One of the guys at our table turned around ask them to quiet down, and the one jerk actually told him "I will f-n kill you." It was terrible. And hey, I'm all for rowdiness...if it suits. This just wasn't the place for some ball-bustin, whiskey shooting, hell of a time. Feel me? They clan of 5 were finally either kicked out or asked to leave, but honestly it was half way through and already such a distraction at that point. I feel that if there were staff around more, they would have gotten kicked out a lot sooner and not cut into my $45 dinner. Speaking of dinner. The food: the worst I've had at a murder mystery dinner. They buffet style dinner consisted of breaded chicken (which I like but Carrie didn't have so much luck with), stuffed shells (passed on those), potatoes and tortellini salad. The food was fine, there simply wasn't much selection. I can't really give the winery too much slack for this because it was catered. However, they still should have done their homework on what other locations provide. My biggest grip with this was we've paid $32 at The Lamplighter and they have chicken, fish, roast beef, ham, cole slaw, salad, fresh veggies, etc. So, we really both felt ripped off. To sum it up, I would come back in the summer to hang out and have lunch. But, in the future, I will keep my murder mystery dinners to other locations. read more

Abaolutely love this winery. They are only a few miles from my parents place, locally owned and operated. The names of the wines are so fun and they do a lot of events too. Some you have to book your spot in advance (but have been well worth it in my advice) and some are a show up and enjoy. In the warmer months you can enjoy a handful of free tastings to find one you like and enjoy with your friends a live band on the patio. You can even take your own snacks. And the paid ahead events are so interesting! An adult prom, women's spa day, murder mystery.. You name it, they do it.. Along with their delicious, quirky named wines. read more

My husband and I like to visit wineries so after seeing a FB post about this winery having live music and wine tasting with free admission; we decided to stop by. This was our first visit and we were unfamiliar with the location but it was fairly easy to find with GPS. The building is at that top of a long driveway with ample parking. After trying some wine, we purchased the Peach wine to have while there and two other varieties to take home. The prices for what we chose were very reasonable. You are allowed to bring your own snacks. We didn't see any food offered on site. As for the music, it was a lot of oldies and talking. Even though, I am a so called senior citizen, I like a variety of alternative and blues...but there was no cover charge; so I really can't complain. We may decide to go back when warmer weather arrives and see what it's like then. I will update review at that time. read more

I hosted a bridal shower here last month and everything was wonderful! The staff was great, everything was set up as we discussed, our guests had a great time! I would recommend this to anyone!! We had great communication with staff in the weeks leading up to the event. We were able to bring our own food which saved on costs and the winery was very accommodating when we needed ice, a refrigerator, etc. I'd also recommend their linen package to anyone using the Greenhouse Winery for an event. It's a great deal that includes the glassware, silverware, plates, chargers, etc. in addition to the table linens and napkins. They also had tables prepared for gifts, desserts, and the food buffet and carts were available for us to use to bring everything in and out. As a bonus, their wine tastes great! read more

I attended a bridal shower here and it was beautiful! The wine was great, we loved the "ho' in the garden" and one of the semi-dry reds, it started with a C. The pricing was extremely affordable, around $15/bottle. You get to taste up to 5 wines on the house and then choose. They have tons of cute memorabilia, wine bags, to-go cups, etc. There is a super cute, white gazebo out back with beautiful landscape and flowers for photos.
