Checking out Local (they're on a break at the moment).

Cute shop with local PA wines. It's a nice place to gather with friends, sip wines, and see live music. I was happy to see Bedillion's honey for sale. Local businesses supporting each other is a big plus in my book. You can bring your own food, but there are cookies and little snacks available.

    Great music!

J&D has opened tasting room near the Meadows Casino. I have been to their 84 location, and it's great. This location was equally as fun, if not more. Parking is super convenient. Wine tasting is $5 for 6 wines, but the fee is waived if you purchase a bottle. The bottles are fairly priced as well. This is a family owned and operated business. The man helping us during our tasting was amazing, and had so much knowledge of the wine his family works so hard to blend and produce (owners son, I feel terrible I can't remember his name) There was also a live two man band on Friday night, can't beat it! I will absolutely be back here.

Chris was invited to play with some of his friends at their show at J&D Cellars. Even though I had to work at 5:30 the next morning I decided to be a good fiance and go and see him play and have a semi-date night. I am so happy that I dragged my sleepy butt with him. This winery was great. It was so pretty inside and the music was wonderful. I didn't know what to expect since I had never been here or to 84 but I really would recommend anyone in the area going to try it out. It is a hidden gem for sure. We went to the tasting counter and were told that we had 6 tastings available. With their wine list, (http://www.jndcellars.com/html/wine-list/) it was hard to pick just 6 wines. Cabernet Sauvignon: Full bodied with loads of fruit flavors and tannins.: This was my favorite of all of the wines we tasted. It was just really good. A perfect dry wine. Petite Sirah: Full-bodied and robust with luscious and structured tannins to the end.: Now that I am thinking back, this might be my favorite of the night! I liked the dry wine and that it was flavorful but not to tart that my lips puckered. Blackberry Merlot: Fruity wine with plenty of body and tannins: This was a little too sweet for me but had a huge blackberry flavor. Chloe's Choice: Sweet white wine bursting with flavors of green apple: This was Chris' favorite. It was sweet (too sweet for me) and full of that green apple flavor. I now forget which other one's we tasted. But those are the ones that stand out so those are the ones that everyone should try! We also got two glasses to drink while we sat at our table. I didn't want an entire bottle while we were there, I did have to work, but one glass was nice to have while listening to music. I was impressed that it filled up as much as it did. People kept pouring in. You are able to bring outside food so people were eating dinner, snacking, and one table that was reserved looked like a potluck. I am impressed that the winery was open to having outside food. They did offer for purchase some cheeses and crackers to go with the wine they were also selling. Nice little addition just in case someone forgot/might be a bit hungry. I look forward to the next time he plays at J&D Cellars. It was a great atmosphere and even better, great wine.

I just love J&D wine cellars! They owner is so nice! They have a wide selection of wines all year. Most are either sweet or dry but there are a few semi-sweet. They recently built a new store which is beautiful! They often sponsor events that are held there. When the weather is nice, there is patio seating and live music at various times. If you like visiting local wineries, give J&D a visit!

    I made it here, finally

Super cute cozy igloo winter wonderland experience!…read more We reserved an igloo for a nice dinner after Thanksgiving and it was a nice relaxing evening after the busy holiday. I went with one of their speciality cocktail and for we shared the following: Bruschetta Spinach dip Chicken flatbread Loved having a private space and we were plenty warm! Service was polite and came often to check in with us. Highly recommend for a fun creative winter outing!

Bella Terra Vineyards is a winery, restaurant, and event venue in the small town of Hunker in…read moreWestmoreland County. It sells a variety of dry and sweet wines (e.g., red, white, rose, sparkling, and cider), cocktails, mocktails, and beers. Some vineyards are on the grounds as are many barrels and bottles of wines. The restaurant has both indoor seating and seasonal outdoor seating in lakeside cabanas and winter igloos. It is open for brunch/lunch and dinner. It is a nice setting for daily dining as well as special events such as weddings, bridal and baby showers, and private parties. Furthermore, the website lists activities such as bingo, painting and candle-making classes, live music with dancing, and more. For my husband and me, I made a reservation for lunch in an igloo. Our igloo was large enough to fit eight people and cost $50 plus foods and drinks. A larger "party dome" fits up to 14 people and has a fee of $75. The temperatures outside were very cold, but our igloo was kept warm by an electric fireplace and a zippered door. Throughout our meal, our waitress provided timely and friendly service. The Bistro menu listed shareables (e.g., pretzel sticks and charcuterie board), several smash burgers, several flatbreads, mains (e.g., fish and chips, cajun chicken pasta, and quinoa bowl), several salads, several handhelds (e.g., turkey melt, veggie wrap, and Italian panini), many sides, and a couple of desserts. Prices were moderate. (The menus for Sunday Brunch and a group Gathering differ.) The waitress first brought our Sweet Wine-Cookie Flight (4.5 stars), which consisted of the following pairs: Diamond Reo with Brown Sugar Pop Tart, Sweet Finley with Chocolate Salted Caramel, Riesling with Cookies and Cream, and Rose Cider with Strawberry Crunch. The wine glasses came in a wooden box, which was slightly too small, so I needed several minutes of time to carefully pull each wine glass out of the box. I, however, did enjoy the sweet flavors of the wines and cookies. Next our waitress brought out our shareable and two mains. The Hummus Plate (4.5 stars) consisted of fresh and tasty hummus, feta, olives, top seedz crackers, tomatoes, cucumbers, green and red peppers, carrots, celery, and tzatziki. My main course was Crab Cakes (4 stars) with a substituted side of salad. Two crab cakes were a decent size of 4 ounces each, but I would have preferred more crab meat. I liked the garlic aioli. My husband's main course was the Cali Burger (4 stars) with a side of fries. In a brioche bun, a beef patty was topped with fontina cheese, applewood-smoked bacon (which he would prefer be crispier), avocado, avocado ranch, lettuce, and pickles (which he commented were nicely crunchy and sweet-sour) (no tomato at his request). The total price for the flight, shareable, two mains, and a soda was $98 plus sales tax and tip (plus the earlier $50 fee for the igloo).

I tried their new Traminette wine which I really loved. It had the most amazing floral aroma, citrus notes, and a bitter finish that reminded me of an ale. We were also treated to an amazing spread by @thecheesequeenpgh , pizza and sandwiches by @owenpucel , and a fantastic tour by owners Rich and Janelle. I, obviously a beer girl, learned SO much about wine this visit. What makes this spot unique is that they grown their own grapes . I can also tell that the love and care these great people put into their family business makes it very special place as well.

If you're looking for something to do over the long weekend, grab a DD and make the scenic drive over to Monongahela. Rich and Janelle were so kind and funny - with tons of knowledge & fun facts to share. They put a lot of work and love into all of their wines. We had a great evening at their vineyard & winery outside of Pittsburgh & feel it's worth the drive, especially on a beautiful day! They regularly host happy hours with food & live entertainment. Definitely worth checking out for a true fully PA winery and vineyard experience. Many PA wineries just buy grapes or juice fr other producers, Repipi has been growing their own grapes for more than 30 years, pretty cool. Everyone who worked here was so nice and friendly. We had a great visit.
