Super cute cozy igloo winter wonderland experience!…read more We reserved an igloo for a nice dinner after Thanksgiving and it was a nice relaxing evening after the busy holiday. I went with one of their speciality cocktail and for we shared the following: Bruschetta Spinach dip Chicken flatbread Loved having a private space and we were plenty warm! Service was polite and came often to check in with us. Highly recommend for a fun creative winter outing!

Bella Terra Vineyards is a winery, restaurant, and event venue in the small town of Hunker in…read moreWestmoreland County. It sells a variety of dry and sweet wines (e.g., red, white, rose, sparkling, and cider), cocktails, mocktails, and beers. Some vineyards are on the grounds as are many barrels and bottles of wines. The restaurant has both indoor seating and seasonal outdoor seating in lakeside cabanas and winter igloos. It is open for brunch/lunch and dinner. It is a nice setting for daily dining as well as special events such as weddings, bridal and baby showers, and private parties. Furthermore, the website lists activities such as bingo, painting and candle-making classes, live music with dancing, and more. For my husband and me, I made a reservation for lunch in an igloo. Our igloo was large enough to fit eight people and cost $50 plus foods and drinks. A larger "party dome" fits up to 14 people and has a fee of $75. The temperatures outside were very cold, but our igloo was kept warm by an electric fireplace and a zippered door. Throughout our meal, our waitress provided timely and friendly service. The Bistro menu listed shareables (e.g., pretzel sticks and charcuterie board), several smash burgers, several flatbreads, mains (e.g., fish and chips, cajun chicken pasta, and quinoa bowl), several salads, several handhelds (e.g., turkey melt, veggie wrap, and Italian panini), many sides, and a couple of desserts. Prices were moderate. (The menus for Sunday Brunch and a group Gathering differ.) The waitress first brought our Sweet Wine-Cookie Flight (4.5 stars), which consisted of the following pairs: Diamond Reo with Brown Sugar Pop Tart, Sweet Finley with Chocolate Salted Caramel, Riesling with Cookies and Cream, and Rose Cider with Strawberry Crunch. The wine glasses came in a wooden box, which was slightly too small, so I needed several minutes of time to carefully pull each wine glass out of the box. I, however, did enjoy the sweet flavors of the wines and cookies. Next our waitress brought out our shareable and two mains. The Hummus Plate (4.5 stars) consisted of fresh and tasty hummus, feta, olives, top seedz crackers, tomatoes, cucumbers, green and red peppers, carrots, celery, and tzatziki. My main course was Crab Cakes (4 stars) with a substituted side of salad. Two crab cakes were a decent size of 4 ounces each, but I would have preferred more crab meat. I liked the garlic aioli. My husband's main course was the Cali Burger (4 stars) with a side of fries. In a brioche bun, a beef patty was topped with fontina cheese, applewood-smoked bacon (which he would prefer be crispier), avocado, avocado ranch, lettuce, and pickles (which he commented were nicely crunchy and sweet-sour) (no tomato at his request). The total price for the flight, shareable, two mains, and a soda was $98 plus sales tax and tip (plus the earlier $50 fee for the igloo).

I tried their new Traminette wine which I really loved. It had the most amazing floral aroma, citrus notes, and a bitter finish that reminded me of an ale. We were also treated to an amazing spread by @thecheesequeenpgh , pizza and sandwiches by @owenpucel , and a fantastic tour by owners Rich and Janelle. I, obviously a beer girl, learned SO much about wine this visit. What makes this spot unique is that they grown their own grapes . I can also tell that the love and care these great people put into their family business makes it very special place as well.

If you're looking for something to do over the long weekend, grab a DD and make the scenic drive over to Monongahela. Rich and Janelle were so kind and funny - with tons of knowledge & fun facts to share. They put a lot of work and love into all of their wines. We had a great evening at their vineyard & winery outside of Pittsburgh & feel it's worth the drive, especially on a beautiful day! They regularly host happy hours with food & live entertainment. Definitely worth checking out for a true fully PA winery and vineyard experience. Many PA wineries just buy grapes or juice fr other producers, Repipi has been growing their own grapes for more than 30 years, pretty cool. Everyone who worked here was so nice and friendly. We had a great visit.

We took home a bottle of the Malbec and Pinot Gris :) definitely recommend checking out for lunch or dinner. It's such a nice ambiance whether dining inside or out.

The drink menu includes many wines from Bella Terra Vineyards as well as cocktails, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages. Cabins and, during the winter, igloos may be reserved for a fee. So far, my husband and I have been a customer of The Wine Cave twice. In winter 2023, I reserved one igloo bubble dome online for a 2-hour visit for a fee. An employee in the restaurant took our order for food and drinks. The weather outside was below freezing, but the interior of the igloo was warm because of a stove. The stove, though, did cause condensation to form on the walls of the igloo and to occasionally drip down. The igloo had eight chairs, a couple of small tables, and some blankets. While my husband and I waited on our foods to be cooked, we roasted marshmallows over a fire pit outside. An employee incorrectly delivered our foods to another customer in a nearby igloo, and that customer brought the foods to us. In 2025, my husband and I ate lunch inside the restaurant. The dining room contained reclaimed birch trees, artificial stalactites and cave paintings, and water. We were the only customers there, and we waited over 30 minutes for our foods to be brought out. The waitress did speak nicely to us and did check in on us later. Here are my reviews for our foods from both meals: S'mores - 5 stars - A s'mores kit contained the perfect amount of ingredients for my husband and I to each make two tasty s'mores. The kit included graham crackers, a Hershey's chocolate bar, and four large marshmallows. The fire pit worked well to roast our marshmallows. Spinach and artichoke dip - 5 stars - This dip looked and tasted differently than other restaurants' dips, but my husband and I really enjoyed the flavor from the cheddar cheese and garlic. The dip was served with many pieces of flat bread, which had a perfectly crispy exterior and chewy interior. My husband described this appetizer as "probably the best ever"! Apple-pecan salad - 5 stars - This salad was a large size, and it consisted of fresh and flavorful mixed greens, feta cheese, dried cranberries, apple chunks, pecans, and balsamic vinaigrette. Turkey-melt sandwich - 4.5 stars - This sandwich contained roasted turkey, chipotle-lime mayo, applewood bacon, avocado smash, smoked gouda cheese, and romaine lettuce. On the side were crispy fries. Shrimp diavola - 4.5 stars - I ordered this entree twice. It consisted of penne noodles, juicy shrimps, spinach, and a spicy tomato sauce. Ricotta and meatballs pizza - 3 stars - My husband commented that this pizza had toppings that were too chunky and insufficiently spread out. I thought that the ingredients tasted very fresh. Trico di crema - 4.5 stars - This slice of sponge cake was moist from milk, had a sweet icing, and had fresh berries on top. Peanut-butter temptation - 4.5 stars - This dessert had a peanut-butter center and a chocolate exterior. Winterbella and Diamond Reo wines - 4 stars - My husband and I are not wine connoisseurs. We selected two wines that we expected to taste grapey and sweet, and these wines tasted good. Cider - 4 stars - We ordered the Violet Cider that was supposed to taste like sweet blackberries, and we thought that it tasted good. House riesling - 4.5 stars - I enjoyed the flavor of this semi-sweet white wine.

Then went with their Dip Trio so we could try a few of their dips and it hit the spot...served with veggies, pita chips and tortilla chips, one pot of buffalo chicken dip, one pot of spinach artichoke dip and a pot of their warm honey pot which is simply marinara, ricotta and honey- quite the combo! Tried out two of their flatbreads The Gatherer: mozzarella, tomato, mushroom, spinach, roasted red pepper, red onion and the Hela's White: garlic chive butter, mozzarella, spinach, prosciutto, and Parmesan. When we entered the winery, we were greeted by Michael Kavic (owner). He asked if this was our first visit, and when we told him it was, we were invited to sit down for a wine tasting. The wine tasting was amazing! He first gave us a flight of white wine (6) and told us about each one. In addition to the wine, he provided us with cheese and crackers. The whites were tastefully crafted and absolutely devine. After we finished with the whites, he brought us the red flight. We were able to try 4 of the 6 red varieties because they were out of the other 2. Michael Stephen was so friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. After trying the wines, his wife gave us forms in case we wanted to order anything. We ordered a bottle of white and a bottle of blush wine to take home with us. Michael's wife, Patricia, gave us some great Pennsylvania wine resources upon checkout. Lovely experience at Kavic Winery. We can't wait to return!

We arrived and Christian the owners son had introduced himself. He had explained about the restrictions around COVID that they are only doing samples and bottle purchased. He said this was his parents guidelines. That's fine that they do not want to take a risk, but every one else is doing so. Anyhow he said they've been opened for 11 years. He said it's still a hobby for his dad who is a MD Surgeon. Okay the wine; 5 samples and they had a bunch that were sold out. They make all of the wine in stainless. They do add sticks of different wood flavors for some red wines. All of the wine grapes from Lake Erie. All of the wines that I tasted were good. The dry wines, I tasted sugar in them as if he adds extra sugar to the wines. Christian went through all of the wines, tastes, how to taste and why really well. We will return, this guy can do some comedy as well. :)
