I tried their new Traminette wine which I really loved. It had the most amazing floral aroma, citrus notes, and a bitter finish that reminded me of an ale. We were also treated to an amazing spread by @thecheesequeenpgh , pizza and sandwiches by @owenpucel , and a fantastic tour by owners Rich and Janelle. I, obviously a beer girl, learned SO much about wine this visit. What makes this spot unique is that they grown their own grapes . If you're looking for something to do over the long weekend, grab a DD and make the scenic drive over to Monongahela. Rich and Janelle were so kind and funny - with tons of knowledge & fun facts to share. They put a lot of work and love into all of their wines. We had a great evening at their vineyard & winery outside of Pittsburgh & feel it's worth the drive, especially on a beautiful day! They regularly host happy hours with food & live entertainment. Definitely worth checking out for a true fully PA winery and vineyard experience. Many PA wineries just buy grapes or juice fr other producers, Repipi has been growing their own grapes for more than 30 years, pretty cool. Everyone who worked here was so nice and friendly. We had a great visit.

I had no real idea what to expect in terms of the building, but I was familiar with their wines. There is a sign for the winery at the end of the road and you enter up a long driveway (with several signs warning about not bringing in outside food and drink). I had no idea that their grounds were as massive as they were! There was even a sign for a walking trail. I visited on a Monday in the winter, so I wasn't able to take advantage of their beautiful grounds, but after a great visit, I definitely want to come back in warmer weather and come for one of their events (or even just to enjoy some wine outdoors). They have a nice variety of wines. Many sweet, dry and fruit wines. They also have cocktails and other drinks. I like that more of the specialty establishments are starting to have extended offerings because it makes visiting more accessible to people who might not like wine or beer but still want to enjoy the company of someone who does or a specific event. I went in set on getting a wine slushie (they rotate their flavors, but every one I've tried has been delicious). They allow you to sample basically anything from their menu and you can order wine by the glass, bottle or as tasting flights. When I was there, they were still offering their Valentine's pairing which included four generous pours of red wines each paired with a gourmet chocolate. I really enjoyed the experience and everything was tasty. The service was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I asked questions about the wines, where the grapes are grown, how they come up with new blends and about events and they answered all of them. Overall, an amazing experience and a place I'll definitely be back to.

The winery uses California grapes and other, locally-sourced fruits and traditional winemaking techniques to produce small-batch, handcrafted wines. They sell their wines through their website, at a couple local businesses, and at some farmers markets and festivals. I first encountered Mingo Creek Cellars several months ago when the owner, who is one of the very best review writers on Yelp, kindly gifted me a bottle of sangria. As he released more wines, I had to try more! In recent months, I purchased three other wines: Blushberry, sweet strawberry-apple; McFarlane's Blueberry Battalion, sweet blueberry and named after Major McFarlane who fought in the American Revolutionary War and the Whiskey Rebellion; and Blackpaw Treaty, a semi-sweet blackberry cabernet named after the secret agreement. I loved all of these wines! Mingo Creek Cellars currently sells many other wines: Cavalier Cab, a dry red cabernet sauvignon; Bradford's Blaze, a dry syrah; Whispers of the Hill, petite sirah; Militia Whisperer, Gewürztraminer; Rebel Scout, a dry riesling; Forbidden Flame, a semi-sweet with raspberry and dragonfruit.

It sells a variety of dry and sweet wines (e.g., red, white, rose, sparkling, and cider), cocktails, mocktails, and beers. Some vineyards are on the grounds as are many barrels and bottles of wines. The restaurant has both indoor seating and seasonal outdoor seating in lakeside cabanas and winter igloos. It is open for brunch/lunch and dinner. It is a nice setting for daily dining as well as special events such as weddings, bridal and baby showers, and private parties. Furthermore, the website lists activities such as bingo, painting and candle-making classes, live music with dancing, and more. For my husband and me, I made a reservation for lunch in an igloo. Our igloo was large enough to fit eight people and cost $50 plus foods and drinks. A larger "party dome" fits up to 14 people and has a fee of $75. The temperatures outside were very cold, but our igloo was kept warm by an electric fireplace and a zippered door. Throughout our meal, our waitress provided timely and friendly service. The Bistro menu listed shareables (e.g., pretzel sticks and charcuterie board), several smash burgers, several flatbreads, mains (e.g., fish and chips, cajun chicken pasta, and quinoa bowl), several salads, several handhelds (e.g., turkey melt, veggie wrap, and Italian panini), many sides, and a couple of desserts. Prices were moderate. (The menus for Sunday Brunch and a group Gathering differ.) The waitress first brought our Sweet Wine-Cookie Flight (4.5 stars), which consisted of the following pairs: Diamond Reo with Brown Sugar Pop Tart, Sweet Finley with Chocolate Salted Caramel, Riesling with Cookies and Cream, and Rose Cider with Strawberry Crunch. The wine glasses came in a wooden box, which was slightly too small, so I needed several minutes of time to carefully pull each wine glass out of the box. I, however, did enjoy the sweet flavors of the wines and cookies. Next our waitress brought out our shareable and two mains. The Hummus Plate (4.5 stars) consisted of fresh and tasty hummus, feta, olives, top seedz crackers, tomatoes, cucumbers, green and red peppers, carrots, celery, and tzatziki. My main course was Crab Cakes (4 stars) with a substituted side of salad. Two crab cakes were a decent size of 4 ounces each, but I would have preferred more crab meat. I liked the garlic aioli. My husband's main course was the Cali Burger (4 stars) with a side of fries. In a brioche bun, a beef patty was topped with fontina cheese, applewood-smoked bacon (which he would prefer be crispier), avocado, avocado ranch, lettuce, and pickles (which he commented were nicely crunchy and sweet-sour) (no tomato at his request). The total price for the flight, shareable, two mains, and a soda was $98 plus sales tax and tip (plus the earlier $50 fee for the igloo).

Figured, "what the heck, I like wine!" What I found was a totally unexpected and wonderful experience. Most smaller mom 'n pop wineries are just not that good. Especially those outside the normally expected areas like Napa, Russian River Valley, etc. The ambiance is both country and modern at the same time. Meaning clean lol. The decor and welcoming smile scream "welcome home" and at the same time subtly describe a very modern wine experience. Apparently they get their grapes from California then make wine here. And it shows. This is the first Pinot Noir I've had outside Oregon that was actually good! The Montepulciano was very good too! I will admit I only tried one sampling of each of the reds and over half were great. Which is saying something. Also nice was the simple yet tasty charcuterie service. The presentation was simple yet appropriate. Sitting outside, enjoying the Sun and countryside just made the experience a visit to remember. If you ever want to try a local winery, sit at a relaxed venue, be served with a smile, and leave with a coups of fantastic bottles of wine, definitely make your way here. And apparently if you come on Sunday, you'll enjoy some live music to boot!

The fettuccine Alfredo with chicken was INSANE -- rich, fresh, creamy, and you could immediately tell the Alfredo sauce was homemade and made fresh to order... definitely not from a jar. Soooo good! It was interesting to be driving in a residential neighborhood and suddenly see vineyards. I bet it is gorgeous in the spring and summer! When I came in, they were pretty busy, but I was greeted immediately. There were a few tables with groups that looked like they were having a blast. One group with quite a spread of snacks and wine (they have had a cute tablecloth on the winery's table) and a couple who were enjoying a bottle of wine and a cooler's worth of snacks they brought on their own. Since I was new to the winery, I decided to try the sample flight. For $8, I was able to sample five different wines. If you purchase three or more bottles, the sampling is free. It was tough to narrow it down to 5 because they had so many intriguing sounding options. I settled on a Saperavi, pinotage, cabernet franc, apple and black raspberry. I really enjoyed each of them, my favorite being their cabernet franc (which is my favorite wine). The Saperavi was a close second, though. You mark your choices on a paper and then your samples are brought to your table. They are in small plastic cups and labeled by number, but you are given a wine glass to actually taste the sample. This was a nice touch because wines can definitely taste different in a glass vs plastic cup. The server spent time with me talking about each wine, the history of the winery, where the grapes are grown (some right on property, most of the others are from somewhere in PA). She also told me they are releasing a new Cabarnet Franc sometime soon which I'm definitely going to check their social media to see when it is released to sample it and hopefully buy a few bottles. I really enjoyed the wines here and my overall experience and will be back!

Directions are very easy ... 51 South then just a couple turns and you are at their front door. Looking forward to returning when there are grapes on the vines.
