Honestly, I had expected Demon House to come in at about a 3.5 maybe a 4 stars at best. I mean it's one medium sized house. How much haunted housing can happen in one house?? 15 minutes? Upstairs, first floor, maybe a basement or an attic? I had no idea just how wrong I would be. Little did I know this place has not only a LEGEND but it's considered an attraction. Snacks and hot cider (although without rum, sadly...), an outdoor movie theater showing awesome horror movies, horror movie scores playing all over the outside waiting area, and multiple camp fires. I mean, COME ON. Camp fires? I smell like camp fire. WIN. +: The lines were not long at all. They have you park in an adjacent lot and use a shuttle bus to bring people too and from the actual home. (At first I was somewhat put off by this, but I get it now. From the time you get off the shuttle and start walking towards the house you're IN the experience. ) The entire grounds are decorated. The groups are small enough that you don't have anything taken away from the experience. We only had 4 in our group! The price is exactly on par with other area haunted attractions. There were honestly parts where I felt more than a little scared. Complete. Total. Darkness. Sharply sloped inclines throughout. -: A bit of a drive for people who aren't used to a travel for a haunted house. I left there feeling it was a complete 5 stars. While more than a short drive outside the city, the more desolate dark location does add to the boo-factor. That, folks, is all I'm willing to give away. FYI: Open the first weekend in November too!

The best haunted attraction in Western PA, by far. This is not just a crouch and scare place; it is very interactive.

The haunt itself is really well done, the actors were great, and the layout is different.

We only do the hayride and the actors are amazing they give you a scare and then high five the younger kids some will even take their mask off to show it's all pretend. It's a great introduction to scares and haunts for young children. With that said this year it was very bland. The kids even said it was "lame" and not because they are growing out of it but there were barely any actors there. Last year there were about 7 actors climbing on the hayride at one time. This year there were never more than two with a few sections abandoned all together. No where near as many screams and laughs as years previous. We still paid $25 a person and still waited in over a two hour line. Usually we don't mind at all but they really dropped the ball this year. We even went on a Saturday one of their busiest nights with hundreds of customers. Not sure why it was so barren this year of actors but I feel if that's the case they should drop the price if only for $5. They are a great family and everyone is nice and friendly but this is the first year I feel like I wasted my money. I think next year we will venture elsewhere. It may have just been a fluke on this ONE NIGHT but I dunno. Still a great introduction for young kids

Allen's Haunted Hayrides is right along Route 51. In addition to hayrides, which last about 30 minutes, there is a haunted house, food vendors and other activities. Our group reserved a bonfire, which was $30 for a 2-hour window. You can bring your own food and drinks: we brought supplies for s'mores and some other snacks, but we saw others with hot dogs and other items. Tickets for the hayride or haunted house are $15 each, while a ticket for both is $25. Our hayride driver was hilarious and we really enjoyed our time. A tip: everything is cash and there is no ATM on site.

When it was time to exit the hayride, I lost a gemstone ring as I was brushing off hay. The staff pitched in with flashlights and helped search. The hardest part was actually finding your way out, and we did this during the day, I have a hunch that the real fun is at night. They have flashlights for rent, and on top of finding the stamps, I think it gets pretty spooky in there. The kids were loving the haunted hayrides during the daylight though, so they seemed to have found a good balance between frightening and fun. They had little fair games, pumpkins for carving and your typical concessions-the corn sling shot was the best...and we were lucky enough to be there for a zombie flash mob done by what must have been an all ages dance class, very cute. Not a lot for the adults to do/look at while the kids are running around except sit by the fire pit and sip cider, but there are worse things!

This year we chose Fright Farm in West Virginia, Virginia. I loved everything about this place! The scares are definitely there! BUTTT.... I must say what you pay for here is the scenery and outdoor Halloween festival. The Halloween props, staging, scenery and actors are some of the best that I've seen around may of these type of attractions and nothing is spared. The hoops and scares are there. Beyond the attractions there are outdoor game booths, VIP camp grounds for rents and a live band festival. It's a little bit on the pricey side, but worth it. The only downside and start deduction, is that this place can be a bit overcrowded We paid for VIP experience to avoid the long lines and waits, and there was still a line to get in. Also, eat or feed yourselves somewhere else before you go.... There are not a lot of food attractions or options..... in comparison to a lot of other-similar Halloween attractions I've been to up and down the east coast. Other than this, this place is definitely worth adding to your outdoor Halloween adventures and a great venue for doing something with your family, group of friends....or even a date night!

Honestly, this is one of the best haunted houses and hayrides in the United States. Hands down! I always look forward to going for the new and exciting themes each year. Stay awesome Fright Farm :D

This was the BEST miniature golf ever. We had such an amazing time here…read more This is an indoor, black light, 13 hole course and even if you don't LOVE cryptids now, you will once you finish this course! We found this course because we were checking out the West Virginia Paranormal Trail and when we arrived it was raining and they were closed but we decided to wait a while outside until they opened and I am SO glad we did. It's $12 per person but you can go through again for only $5 if you want. We probably would have done another round ourselves but time wasn't on our side. They give you a "lore card" and a score card so you get to learn all about the cryptids they feature while you play through and it is just so much fun. My favorites were the Flatwoods Monster and of course the Moth Man but it was cool to learn about some I had never heard of before as well and honestly we were tickled and smiling the whole time we were inside. It is small and does get warm inside and we were lucky that there were only a few other people when we went because they started getting busy as we were leaving and it was pretty cramped. If anything I hope that encourages them to open a larger spot and add even more holes. The owners were lovely too. They were warm and friendly and they had a super eclectic and well curated gift shop at the end of the course. We ended up getting a candle and some snacks but believe me, I wanted everything. I even asked about buying a display stand they were using for merch because it was so adorable and they made a joke about everything having a price. Then, as we were walking out, I saw a mask on the wall that I knew my hubby would love so I walked back and asked if they would sell me that. It turns out they had one in the back that they had had forever and were happy to sell it to me. The price was reasonable too so it was just a cherry on an already incredible experience. I beat my husband by a WHOPPING 11 strokes btw but that tidbit is really just for me. I hope the rest of the review was helpful and entices you to head over and support this fantastic establishment. You won't regret it.

Spooooooky!) but the theming and elaborate props make it a worthwhile experience. The holes are fun, and each one is based on a local or semi-local spooky story. The staff was excellent, and had a wealth of knowledge and information about West Virginia cryptids, and general spookiness and mysteries well beyond what's covered in the course. The gift shop was very impressive -- small, and packed with cool things. We spent more money there than I was intending, but I also wouldn't mind returning to play another round and make a few more purchases. My kids could have also spent hours having their questions answered by the staff. I highly recommend this course
