When it was time to exit the hayride, I lost a gemstone ring as I was brushing off hay. The staff pitched in with flashlights and helped search. They resumed the search the next morning and called me as soon as they found my ring---a proverbial needle in a haystack! So thankful to have experience such honesty!

The hardest part was actually finding your way out, and we did this during the day, I have a hunch that the real fun is at night. They have flashlights for rent, and on top of finding the stamps, I think it gets pretty spooky in there. The kids were loving the haunted hayrides during the daylight though, so they seemed to have found a good balance between frightening and fun. They had little fair games, pumpkins for carving and your typical concessions-the corn sling shot was the best...and we were lucky enough to be there for a zombie flash mob done by what must have been an all ages dance class, very cute. Not a lot for the adults to do/look at while the kids are running around except sit by the fire pit and sip cider, but there are worse things!

I came here, not knowing what to expect and I must say, I had a great time. Every year, my family…read moreand I road trip to a haunted house destination for Halloween and make a weekend and mini vacation out of it.....between renting an Airbnb, longs days grilling, relaxing, sightseeing, shopping, the local town, and binging on everything!! This year we chose Fright Farm in West Virginia, Virginia. I loved everything about this place! The scares are definitely there! BUTTT.... I must say what you pay for here is the scenery and outdoor Halloween festival. The Halloween props, staging, scenery and actors are some of the best that I've seen around may of these type of attractions and nothing is spared. The hoops and scares are there. Beyond the attractions there are outdoor game booths, VIP camp grounds for rents and a live band festival. It's a little bit on the pricey side, but worth it. The only downside and start deduction, is that this place can be a bit overcrowded We paid for VIP experience to avoid the long lines and waits, and there was still a line to get in. Also, eat or feed yourselves somewhere else before you go.... There are not a lot of food attractions or options..... in comparison to a lot of other-similar Halloween attractions I've been to up and down the east coast. Other than this, this place is definitely worth adding to your outdoor Halloween adventures and a great venue for doing something with your family, group of friends....or even a date night!

Things have changed alot since then with the interstate being built and them adding more and more attractions plus making it easier to get through it by not having to stand in line for hours by giving people numbers and having more activities to indulge in while waiting for your number to be called. Honestly, this is one of the best haunted houses and hayrides in the United States. Hands down! I always look forward to going for the new and exciting themes each year. Stay awesome Fright Farm :D

Since it's over an…read morehour away from Pittsburgh, we planned a weekend getaway to Somerset with two of our friends and came on the last Saturday of the season. We had trouble finding it at first... My gps took us to a barn and said "you have arrived at your destination "... To me, there are few things that are scarier than being lost on a dark country road. I called Huston's and the woman I spoke to was very helpful and gave us the appropriate directions from our location. For $18 a person, it's not a cheap haunted attraction. Although, the house, hayride and corn maze are all included in the price, making it not too bad of a deal. It was super cold when we arrived. So, to warm up I ordered a hot chocolate and my boyfriend got a coffee. It was only $2.25 for both . Unfortunately, you cannot take drinks in to the house, so we kind of had to chug them before going in. The house was awesome- my favorite parts were the clown house where you wore 3D glasses and the walk over the swamp was pretty cool as well. Next, you take a hayride over to a haunted area in the woods. After you walk through there you go back onto the tractor and are taken to a haunted maze. I was disappointed in the maze this year.. It wasn't hard to navigate and there wasn't anyone scaring you in the maze, making it kind of pointless. Our favorite guy of the night was beetle juice! Not sure if he owns the place or what, but he was extremely welcoming when we arrived and asked us how we liked it when we were done with the house, hayride and maze. He was super friendly and his costume was awesome- he even sounded exactly like beetle juice. Overall, it's a great haunted attraction, but not worth it if you are coming from Pittsburgh just for the house and not staying over night. As a weekend getaway, I really enjoyed it and plan to return in the future!
