Actors have fantastic makeup!

We purchased our tickets online for $25 each and went to Fright Farm on a Wednesday night. We had not been to any haunted houses in the area since we moved here, and from what my husband researched this one looked pretty cool. We brought the printout from our online ticket purchase to the counter where we were each given wristbands to get in to see the attractions. You are given a number when you arrive which is written on your wristband so that you know which group you will be enterin with. There are barrels with bonfires, and plenty of seating areas for you while you wait. There is also a gift shop with numerous Fright Farm items, food items and drinks. There is also a stage where I believe they have entertainment on the weekends. When your number shows up on the bag lighted queue you get onto a tractor pulled hay wagon. This is the first part of your journey through Fright Farm. There are numerous actors that scare you along your ride, 3D attractions, barns and light shows all the way until you get to the haunted mansion. Imagine itself is huge and had everything you could possibly imagine inside to scare you. Dead bodies, horrible smells, chainsaws, body parts, freaky furnishings and more. Towards the end you are given 3D glasses. That last part of your tour is freakishly cool and definitely something to look forward to. After we exited the haunted house we made our way to the slaughterhouse where we were given blindfolds and made our way through while hanging onto ropes, chain link fences, and walls. I'm not sure if we were just walking around in circles but it was terrifying not being able to see what was going on. There plenty of places to take pictures and I know they also have a VIP experience four groups. The three of us thought Fright Farm was fantastic, and definitely worth the price of admission. Even though it is an hour drive for us we would most definitely visit again.

This place used to be awesome! It had to be 7 years ago the first time I was here, and honestly, it was the best time. Used to be filled with actors, theme was awesome, and the bands were good. They even had a small carnival to enjoy before or after you went through the attractions. Last night, and the rest of our experiences there, aren't much to brag about. Lines are always long, so I wasn't expecting to not wait. In the line, they have concession in case you get hungry or thirsty. These are run by 14 year olds and one adult. Once again, I didn't expect much, but the process of my friend getting a hot chocolate was annoying (it would be a novel if I went into detail) and took a while, holding up the line behind us. The whole attraction feels like a line now, and there were not many actors. For $15 I could have went somewhere at least closer to home (it's an hour drive for me to get here) with more actors. The usual attractions lacked actors, and it felt like every 10 minutes I was in a new line, instead of going straight through. The actors that were there, didn't try to scare people. A lot were more friendly, just saying hi to people in a voice some might find creepy they think. The band was ok, but they finished at like 10pm. The guy DJing after was horrible. He didn't play anything to get you excited for a haunted attraction. Instead, it felt like you were at a muddy club (it rained the day prior to us going, it's not usually too muddy). Then, the one time he plays a song that does set a little more of a mood, the volume goes down and he talked over the whole song. Our hayride was (from what I saw) the only trailer with rails, so we could not sit on the edge and dangle our feet like years past. Additionally, there wasn't much hay to sit on, making the ride itself extremely uncomfortable (especially for them cramming as many people on as possible). When you reach the house, there is another line to go in. They removed some of the coolest pieces they had inside, most of which didn't require actors. This whole experience was boring, mostly due to the lack of people to make it run. The props are always awesome here, though. Eventually, you come to a couple more lines, so there is waiting mid house. When you are finished with the whole house, you reach another line. The maze was next and really easy. Not sure if I just got lucky, but most of the people inside were more friendly, rather than attempting to be scary (which I found to be a common theme throughout). The only outlier was an employee who called one of my friends ugly, as if it made sense in a haunted house. It took us about 5 minutes to navigate this maze, and spoiler alert, there was another line. The one thing that really saved fright farm this year was the Paranoia attraction. I won't spoil the details for those that will be attending, but let's just say for all of the negatives of the night, this really saved them. Even this, though, was lacking in actors and could have been done way better. They also advertised the carnival on their website, but when we arrived, there wasn't a carnival again. If i am being fair to this, though, it might be select dates and i may have missed the detail. Overall, I think 2 stars is the most I can give. They have so much more potential here, and they used it in the past. Maybe they should only be open the last 2 weeks of October so they can hire more actors to be in the houses, then truly unlock how cool this place could (and used to) be.

When it was time to exit the hayride, I lost a gemstone ring as I was brushing off hay. The staff pitched in with flashlights and helped search. They resumed the search the next morning and called me as soon as they found my ring---a proverbial needle in a haystack! So thankful to have experience such honesty!

The hardest part was actually finding your way out, and we did this during the day, I have a hunch that the real fun is at night. They have flashlights for rent, and on top of finding the stamps, I think it gets pretty spooky in there. The kids were loving the haunted hayrides during the daylight though, so they seemed to have found a good balance between frightening and fun. They had little fair games, pumpkins for carving and your typical concessions-the corn sling shot was the best...and we were lucky enough to be there for a zombie flash mob done by what must have been an all ages dance class, very cute. Not a lot for the adults to do/look at while the kids are running around except sit by the fire pit and sip cider, but there are worse things!

This was the BEST miniature golf ever. We had such an amazing time here…read more This is an indoor, black light, 13 hole course and even if you don't LOVE cryptids now, you will once you finish this course! We found this course because we were checking out the West Virginia Paranormal Trail and when we arrived it was raining and they were closed but we decided to wait a while outside until they opened and I am SO glad we did. It's $12 per person but you can go through again for only $5 if you want. We probably would have done another round ourselves but time wasn't on our side. They give you a "lore card" and a score card so you get to learn all about the cryptids they feature while you play through and it is just so much fun. My favorites were the Flatwoods Monster and of course the Moth Man but it was cool to learn about some I had never heard of before as well and honestly we were tickled and smiling the whole time we were inside. It is small and does get warm inside and we were lucky that there were only a few other people when we went because they started getting busy as we were leaving and it was pretty cramped. If anything I hope that encourages them to open a larger spot and add even more holes. The owners were lovely too. They were warm and friendly and they had a super eclectic and well curated gift shop at the end of the course. We ended up getting a candle and some snacks but believe me, I wanted everything. I even asked about buying a display stand they were using for merch because it was so adorable and they made a joke about everything having a price. Then, as we were walking out, I saw a mask on the wall that I knew my hubby would love so I walked back and asked if they would sell me that. It turns out they had one in the back that they had had forever and were happy to sell it to me. The price was reasonable too so it was just a cherry on an already incredible experience. I beat my husband by a WHOPPING 11 strokes btw but that tidbit is really just for me. I hope the rest of the review was helpful and entices you to head over and support this fantastic establishment. You won't regret it.

Spooooooky!) but the theming and elaborate props make it a worthwhile experience. The holes are fun, and each one is based on a local or semi-local spooky story. The staff was excellent, and had a wealth of knowledge and information about West Virginia cryptids, and general spookiness and mysteries well beyond what's covered in the course. The gift shop was very impressive -- small, and packed with cool things. We spent more money there than I was intending, but I also wouldn't mind returning to play another round and make a few more purchases. My kids could have also spent hours having their questions answered by the staff. I highly recommend this course

We had trouble finding it at first... My gps took us to a barn and said "you have arrived at your destination "... To me, there are few things that are scarier than being lost on a dark country road. I called Huston's and the woman I spoke to was very helpful and gave us the appropriate directions from our location. For $18 a person, it's not a cheap haunted attraction. Although, the house, hayride and corn maze are all included in the price, making it not too bad of a deal. It was super cold when we arrived. So, to warm up I ordered a hot chocolate and my boyfriend got a coffee. It was only $2.25 for both . Unfortunately, you cannot take drinks in to the house, so we kind of had to chug them before going in. The house was awesome- my favorite parts were the clown house where you wore 3D glasses and the walk over the swamp was pretty cool as well. Next, you take a hayride over to a haunted area in the woods. After you walk through there you go back onto the tractor and are taken to a haunted maze. I was disappointed in the maze this year.. It wasn't hard to navigate and there wasn't anyone scaring you in the maze, making it kind of pointless. Our favorite guy of the night was beetle juice! Not sure if he owns the place or what, but he was extremely welcoming when we arrived and asked us how we liked it when we were done with the house, hayride and maze. He was super friendly and his costume was awesome- he even sounded exactly like beetle juice. Overall, it's a great haunted attraction, but not worth it if you are coming from Pittsburgh just for the house and not staying over night. As a weekend getaway, I really enjoyed it and plan to return in the future!
