We had such an amazing time here…read more This is an indoor, black light, 13 hole course and even if you don't LOVE cryptids now, you will once you finish this course! We found this course because we were checking out the West Virginia Paranormal Trail and when we arrived it was raining and they were closed but we decided to wait a while outside until they opened and I am SO glad we did. It's $12 per person but you can go through again for only $5 if you want. We probably would have done another round ourselves but time wasn't on our side. They give you a "lore card" and a score card so you get to learn all about the cryptids they feature while you play through and it is just so much fun. My favorites were the Flatwoods Monster and of course the Moth Man but it was cool to learn about some I had never heard of before as well and honestly we were tickled and smiling the whole time we were inside. It is small and does get warm inside and we were lucky that there were only a few other people when we went because they started getting busy as we were leaving and it was pretty cramped. If anything I hope that encourages them to open a larger spot and add even more holes. The owners were lovely too. They were warm and friendly and they had a super eclectic and well curated gift shop at the end of the course. We ended up getting a candle and some snacks but believe me, I wanted everything. I even asked about buying a display stand they were using for merch because it was so adorable and they made a joke about everything having a price. Then, as we were walking out, I saw a mask on the wall that I knew my hubby would love so I walked back and asked if they would sell me that. It turns out they had one in the back that they had had forever and were happy to sell it to me. The price was reasonable too so it was just a cherry on an already incredible experience. I beat my husband by a WHOPPING 11 strokes btw but that tidbit is really just for me. I hope the rest of the review was helpful and entices you to head over and support this fantastic establishment. The course itself is cool, but they are easier than we expected. The decorations are fitting for the story and entertaining. The glow in the dark aspects are definitely intriguing for kids and adults alike. You finish your round in the gift store, which has some cool stuff in it as well. We did not buy anything, but it was interesting to see it all and listen to some of the local stories.

What an amazing resource that West Virginia University has opened up to the community! The WVU…read morePlanetarium and Observatory is located inside the university, but everyone is welcome to visit for tours and planetarium shows. Best of all: Planetarium shows and tours are free! But you need to make a reservation online, so they know who to expect. You can't just drop in. There are several different shows you can see, all of them around 15 to 25 minutes, and all of them projected onto the planetarium dome. It's a full-spectrum experience. We chose one of the more popular shows, Dynamic Earth, voiced by Liam Neeson. I learned some cool things about the planets, like the fact that Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system because it has a greenhouse effect going on. All this time, I thought Mercury was the hottest because it's closest to the sun! I love learning new things. Before the show, a grad student at WVU gave us a brief intro about space and planets, and asked my children questions about space. My kids know a lot about space, and they are cocky little buggers and like to impress people with their knowledge, so this was their time to shine. Honestly, even I was impressed with their space knowledge -- I had no idea my youngest child knew the number and name of Mars' moons! Dang. After the show, you get to explore the planetarium's rooftop observatory. There's a huge telescope up there, and if you're visiting at night, you can see planets and stars. We were visiting during the day, though, so we didn't see much. But it was still neat to look through a huge telescope. The planetarium is located on the PL floor, which is only accessible when staff members are there and ready to receive you. We got there a little early and were not able to access the PL floor until someone put a key in the elevator and let us go up. So if you get there early and can't get up to the planetarium, that's why.

I will say the center is a bit smaller than it looks online, but nonetheless packed with fun. I loved all the hands on learning experiences. They had everything from musicmaking, space exploration and dinosaur excavating. I saw they also have a party room that can be rented for birthdays. My daughter played her for hours and still cried when we left. We came on a Saturday morning. There was many other kids but it wasnt packed. For the amount of people in the small space, it wasnt overly noisy or messy either. If we are ever back in the town, we will definitely stop by again! Also, the price was unbeatable! $6 dollars for unlimited play.

It has a bunch of table, plus some couches and larger chairs, books to read, cheese boards, and a couple of high top tables. We stopped in on a Saturday morning, and got some tea, cold brew coffee, and latte, plus a huge cinnamon bun and French toast muffin. Looking at the lunch menu we are going to come back to try lunch, because last weeks list looked amazing. Because we hit it in the morning I'll have to check in again about the beer and pottery aspect. This is the type of place I really would love to see succeed in Fairmont, they are doing a great job!
